I finished the first book on March 29, 2004. This was my second reading of this book. The first time was in 1987 in California. My roommate, a nice man whose name I can't recall (probably David!), gave it to me and I am pretty sure that I read it all but it really rings out to me now. The next book came our while I was beginning my new life with Cindy Paul. I remember at the time thinking that I should read it, but I never did -- until now!

Now I know why I had to wait until now to read the second book. Wow. --From A Reader's Journal, by d r melbie.

Enjoyed this book, very, very different from the movie which I've watched 15 times. I can't give an honest review as I skimmed this over and chose bits and pieces. If I watch the movie first, I'm just not as motivated to get through the book.

Millman is not a great novelist by any means, but the profound wisdom conveyed in the story is worth the slog through the awkward storytelling.

This book takes you through Dan Millman's life as an olympic gymnastic athlete who meets a wise old man. This old man starts to show Dan how to live his life according to the way of the peaceful warrior, this book takes you on an epic journey through your mind. "The journey is what brings us happiness, not the destination." Dan Millman really nailed this book on the head combining great life advice, and also a great adventure book. My favorite literary characteristic of this book is the sequencing, everything is spaced out well making for good easy read that is very easy to follow. This allows for you really to understand Dan's point of view while he was writing this story. His writing style is on point combining mystery , a little bit of action, and adventure. I would definitely recommend this title. There are many valuable life lessons to be learned from this book and I personally have managed to bring many of them into my own life. This book is a great read you will never forget, available at most Libraries or online for around 15$. " You can live a whole lifetime never being awake."
