Reading this book really triggered some feels within me. I guess that what made this story different from other ones on wattpad is the author's beautiful writing. It's just so, so perfect. For me, her talent bypasses a lot of professional writers out there. In every chapter, you'll be able to read a lot of thought-provoking, deep, philosophical shit interconnecting love and life that would make you feel something–something indescribable. The way the characters were written in such a rich, well-developed way is also proof of the author's writing skills. I mean seriously, if you don't believe me, then fine. But you've gotta read this:

"There's always a risk that needs to be taken when you fall in love, a blind leap of faith out there into a realm of unpredictability. What lies at the end of the road, bliss or heartbreak, is for you to figure out eventually."

and also this:

I felt his uneven breaths as he buried his face into the crook of my neck and murmured, "I hate that I'm so fucked-up just because of a stupid breakup."

I pulled back slightly and cupped his cheeks in my palms, tilting his head up so he was looking right into my eyes. "You're not fucked-up," I told him softly, wondering if my words could ever cross the sea of pain that he'd isolated himself in. "You're just broken."

I felt his palms slowly slide up my back, strong large hands mapping out every contour of my spine as he inhaled a shaky breath. His eyes were like the magnetic pull of a force field as he stared at me, his eyes held me captive, and I knew he was listening to every word I said, drinking it all in.

"But then again," I mused, with a small smile playing on my lips. "Aren't we all?"

There's a whole lot more from where those came from.

The only reason why I couldn't give this story five stars is because I felt like it was a bit one-sided. The antagonist, or Fiona's, point of view wasn't explained that much. Her feelings weren't really hears, which makes her a shallow character and antagonist in the story.

Epitome of Perfect. This short story is based on author's break up in her life. Every words that typed on this book is utterly true. Author explains beautifully about the live every person would go through after their hear broken upon their true love. This story is so deep. Only broken people can understand this book;Just as the feel like you've lost a piece of your original self. Joey And Kira. The Life of This Story. One thing I loved about this story is one of the moral of story- There was no viable way of fixing a broken heart. You just had to keep living in tiny fragments that can never be pieced back together.

This book was definitely not what I expected. It was soooooo good. At first, I thought I wouldn't like this since this book just jumped straight into it. Personally, I was bored for the quarter of it. Then things got witty and fun and I got intrigued and couldn't stop reading. I loved the characters and I think this story is VERY well written. 5 stars for me

Splitting my review into 2 since there are 2 parts. Like Cherry Knots, Breakup Formula is a lighthearted story albeit written from a more reflective and realistic perspective. It's about Kira who teaches the breakup formula to a heartbreaker-turned-heartbroken Joey. I don't read Wattpad books anymore, but I can tell that Noelle's stories stand out from the rest. They always have been. Her teenage characters are understandably flawed without being villainised.

In All That Glitters (spoilers for Breakup Formula ending), Kira and Joey's relationship has settled into a friendship full of care and bickering, while Kira has a new crush on the quiet, logical, polite Amir. Their relationship is grounded and doesn't have much fanfare, but you can tell they love each other.

The writing style seemed very cliché. It felt as if some parts were copied and pasted quotes from Facebook. The stuff Kira said to Joey was meant to be emotional but came off as trying too hard to be deep.

I didn't enjoy this as much as Cherry Knots but I loved the ending! They both were able to complete the breakup cycle and move on. It was sweet and relatable!

I have just recently finished the book, The Break Up Formula. I discovered the book on an app called Wattpad. Wattpad is a place where want to be authors can post their work for millions to read. If you enjoy the book you can personally send them a message about how much you enjoy it. Wattpad gives you a connection to the author and allows the author to put their books out into the world.

The main character is Kira, a home schooled senior that is not afraid to talk back when ever she feels it is necessary. Kira has had a hard childhood growing up, her mother moves from boyfriend to boyfriend and gets her heart broken and Kira has to clean up her mothers mess. Kira works at a diner during the day to save up money for college. One day a group of friends walk into the diner and ask a very hard task, to fix their friend Joey. Joey just got out of a serious relationship and he thought it was the end of the world. His friends want him to feel better so they figured that Kira could fix him. Kira decides to help out Joey and she comes up with a Break Up Formula that eventually allows him to move on from the heartbreak. They start to build a relationship together and it leads to more.

The point of this book is a complete stranger coming into another strangers life and helping them at their weakest moment. Kira was there when Joey needed someone the most, and he didnt even realize that he needed someone that bad. This book really shows that we need someone when we are at our weakest, and that we can't push them away when we are having a hard time.

The Break Up Formula would definitely be one of the top five favorite books I have ever read. I could relate and understand every single thing the characters went through. This book was about the pain and struggles you go through after you give someone your heart and how you can pick up the pieces of your broken heart and put it back together with a true friends help. I fell in love with this book because I have gone through a relationship where I had my heart broken and I needed a friend and she was there for me the whole time. I just wish that Joey would have fallen in love with her sooner, it was just dragging on and on and on. I wanted them to be together sooner so then we could see how they handled the relationship problems together and see the struggles not only apart but also as a couple. Over all I loved the book and I would re-read it over and over again.

I would recommend this to every girl that has just went through a rough break up. Nothing pairs better than stuffing your face with rocky road ice cream and listening to sad music than a nice book to read about how to get over the breakup and pick up your broken heart off the ground. This book helped me get through some hard things and I would love to share this book so then they could get over the tough things as well.

The ‘breakup formula’ is a fun, shortish, read. Socially isolated Kira is recruited by Declan to help his friend Joey out of a painful break up. Little do they know Kira is herself working through a bad experience and then Kira and Joey begin to rely upon each other. Where will it all end?

I love these characters – Joey and Declan are ace and Kira is pretty damn feisty and unknowable (to start with). Both Joey and Declan are in a previous book by the writer, which predates the events in this one. However, it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story; I just caught a serious case of FOMO when reading the comments on Wattpad as everyone else seemed to know the backstory. I definitely need to read ‘Cherry Knots’, after all 4.9m reads can’t be wrong can they?

The progression through the stages of break up from the first stabs of agonising pain and picking over the bones of what went wrong, to finally realising there are plenty of other fish in the sea is really well done.

The only problem is the set up. It’s just a bit implausible.

Kira and Joey are strangers. Why are either of them actually doing this?

A small bit of tinkering to bring Kira into Joey’s world a bit more, before she agrees to help him get over his ex, would be a bit more convincing. Just enough so she would have reason to make all this effort and save me from spending my time wondering why Joey just doesn’t just flick her off and tell her to shove it (which he really should be doing anyway now I think of it).

Also, this is apparently set in England, but aside from mention of British money – pounds, quid etc – and a mention of school ‘forms’ rather than ‘years’ there was very little British about it. Kira worked in a diner, rather than a café or a coffee shop, and people sat in the ‘booths’, the boys sat out on the front porch rather than in the front garden or the patio etc etc.

Having said that, the writing style is really strong: unshowy but descriptive, pretty but not pretentious.

The ending was wonderfully realistic. I’m so glad I’m finding more and more novels are pulling back from the overly romantic, sugary endings and coming up with something more ambivalent and complex, which leaves me satisfied but not hyperglycaemic.

All in all a great read.

As you guys know, and if you don't I'm telling you now, this is the spin-off for that AMAZING book Cherry Knots!

If anyone asked me which one I liked better, well, I wouldn't have an answer because I don't know. Both books were amazing! I loved the main character of this book, she was blunt, did not sugar-coat ANYTHING and always got the job done. To be honest, I admired her. I wish I could just say something like that! (snaps fingers) And not let anyone change my mind.

Then there was the main boy character, (Joey...?) I kinda felt sorry for him. That tragic breakup. *Shakes head and sighs.*

But the thing about this book, Joey was a player or something in school. And you know all those books were the main girl's (lets call her Sally) best friend (Molly) gets her heart 'broken' by the player (in this case, Joey) so Sally decides to get revenge by making Joey fall for her and CRUSHING his poor heart.

Before, I would think guys like Joey deserves it. But then I came across this book.

My opinion has changed GREATLY.

OKAY. Basically, what I'm trying to say is this book was original and I've honestly never read anything like it. Seriously.

It's nice to have it from the Player's point of view (well not really but kinda) sometimes.

LOVED THIS!! :D

Cherry Knots' sequel isn't a sequel in the traditional sense. But, as I read it directly after reading Cherry Knots, I'll treat The Breakup Formula as if it is.

Usually I don't start reading books on Wattpad if they haven't already been completed. I'm impatient, and let's face it, we've all started reading an amazing story only to be disappointed when we read the last update only to find it was uploaded in 2012 and hasn't been touched since. But with The Breakup Formula, I jumped right in and read each chapter as soon as it was updated.

I loved watching the relationship develop and shape. It was different to most YA Romance novels with the boy helping the girl cope with a break up, as this time we saw a girl helping a boy only to realise she was digging a hole and falling for said boy despite warning herself not to get involved.

Okay so many its typically YA Romance. I don't know. I don't usually read romance. But at the end of the day, it was good.

I wouldn't recommend it to the people who want a happy end with hugs and kisses and weddings and happily ever afters, because The Breakup Formula doesn't give that. But if you want a realistic relationship that will make you laugh and cry and care for the characters, this is the book for you.

This story is about Joey, Declan's best friend.

Even tho there's something I dont understand. why Declan is best friend of Parker and not Joey?

It's Joey heartbreak over Fiona that makes Kira comes. Comes to teach how to forget by breakup formula. However, it's not just Joey, also Kira experienced the same feeling, heartbroken. They spend their days to forget. But the most important thing is to forgive not to forget.

This book teach me how forgetting is not always the significant one, forgive is. How friendship is the most helpful one.

I love how Declan and Elouise tried to help Joey. It's proved to be the symbol of friendship. I love it;)
The way Kira met Joey was unusual. From completely stranger until realizing there are so much in common. But, I hate it to say that I dislike Kira for guarding her feeling. I think she should not be like that.
Honestly, I am curious about the continuity about the story, but the writer just said there is no relationship over Kira and Joey.

It is si SAD:(

I enjoyed this spin-off of Cherry Knots. I liked seeing Declan and Eloise from an outsiders perspective, especially since we know their story. I think it was interesting to meet Joey's younger brother, but I also wish we could have seen more of him (although I understand why we didn't, because this is a short story not a novel). Yet again, the writing of this novel is almost poetic. That's what draws so many readers to this story.
Although I don't think I enjoyed this one as much as Cherry Knots, I was highly entertained and wanted more. I will continue to read more of Noelle's stories!

After reading this a second time, I found it to be incredibly dull. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for a more artfully crafted story, rather than one jam-packed with plot. Who knows.

The book was very well written especially for a short story. The storyline was great and I liked how it wasn't the happiest ending. Not clichè and actually realistic. It was well done as those who have gone through breakups would im understand purely and I think such people would find this book pleasant and understandable. I love the growth of the bonds between the characters and how they use each other as support.

Another fantastic work by hepburnettes.
I learned a lot from this story: A breakup formula is not about FORGETTING but FORGIVING.
It's OK to "Protect your heart from hurting [again]" but it would be much better, to open your heart & take the risk but of course, always remind yourself of the mistakes you've had, as this will give you a euphoric state. Now tell me, What's your Breakup formula?

To quote my review for Cherry Knots - Noelle knows how to write a cliche story without being cliche. Breakup Formula was good but not as good as the first one. Sequels/spin-offs are rarely as good as the originals, and that was the case here. It followed a similar storyline, but it didn't feel as real. Also, the characters didn't have as much depth? Idk.
