Anything That Can Go Wrong . . .

Nothing is going to go wrong. Ashley Miles has worked too hard for her independence to let some Bentley-driving hunk named Quinton Murphy interfere with her plans -- or her freedom. Yes, the chemistry is phenomenal. Kind of scary, actually. But that's it. NO emotional commitments.

I requested this book on Netgalley becaue I love Lori’s books. And I loved this too. But what my book Alzheimers prevented me from remembering … this book has been sitting on my shelf - ALREADY READ - for almost ten years! I just didn’t remember I’ve already read it! Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

You really need to read Jude's Law first as this story starts days after that book ends. The Law Series is a wonderful, fun Romantic-Suspense Lite read. Ashley is a great heroine and Quinton is a sexy, sophisticated hero with a wicked sense of humor.

Ashley is a take charge, take care of herself kind of gal. She works two jobs and is going to college to become a nurse. Quinton

Just as good as the first in this series!
Mindy Lou's Book Review
What a fun read! Ashley was a hoot! She was socially awkward, blunt and to the point. You always knew what she was thinking and while she was stubborn, she also conceded when she knew the other person was right. That's such a rare trait to find in a heroine.

Ashley has had a not so nice childhood where her parents treated her more like an obligation and took charity from others instead of working. Because of this, she has almost too much pride to accept help and insists on making her own way. In

This wasn't bad and could have been better had Ms. Foster not rushed the ending. She built up the story for 300 pages and then wrapped everything up in a neat little bow in the last 25 pages. I didn't understand why she did this. It was like she had a page limit that she couldn't go over. I enjoyed the interplay between the characters especially some of the minor characters. You definitely should read Ms. Foster's earlier book, Jude's Law before this book as it explains how the two lead characte ...more

Murphy's Law was fun! And sweet. And romantic. And filled with suspense and danger, too.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Foster never fails to delight me, and I have to say that Murphy's Law hit the right spot. Ashley and Quinton were both characters I could relate to, even if they are very different from me. Ashley really touched me, because she was such an independent woman, but still managed to ask for help when she needed it. And she definitely knew when she s

Murphy's Law is sweet, and a little sexy in a kind of old fashioned way. Now that I know this is 2nd in a series, it explains why I felt a little lost in the beginning. But, soon things picked up and I was able to get through it with a basic understanding.

Quinton is a CEO of a successful consulting company who is completely in lust with an awkward, march to the beat of a different drummer kind of woman named Ashley. At first she won't have anything to do with him, until she caves to her own attr

Review For: Murphy's Law by Lori Foster 'Murphy's Law' by Lori Foster is book Two in the "Law" series. This is the story of Ashley Miles and Quinton Murphy. I haven't read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book. This book didn't cover the meeting of Ashley and Quinton...so I assume that was in the previous book. Also know that this book was previously released around 2006. This new version does have a new cover on it too. This was a sweet romance with a determine man (Quinton) wh ...more

(From first read 11/18/09) Let me start by saying I didn't read the first book in the series. I had no real connection to the whole sister's storyline. I liked the Ashley character but Quinton is just a bit too much if you know what I mean. Not bad overall, but not great either.

I'm stuck between 3.5 and 4 stars. For now it gets the benefit of the doubt. Had you asked me 90% of the way through the book it would have been a solid four stars. But the last 25 pages are just so rushed and

This is a fantastic book. With colorful characters that leap off the pages and antics that will have you smiling while at the same time cringing with the danger involved.

Ashley meets Quinton and it changes both of them. He is normally controlled but it makes him step away from his normal to get her to agree to go out with him. She wants security and a house and has plans that do not include any man. Quinton is different and has her questioning her own resolve. Which is the reason she is staying

Murphy’s Law was a reissue from 2006 that was as engrossing and lively as just about anything else I’ve read by Lori Foster. An offbeat cast with ties to Foster’s SBC Fighter’s series and an opposites attract romance, this had all the elements to make it a fast-paced read.

I really got a kick out of the pairing we had here of Ashley and Quinton. They were polar opposites in most ways–except where (I think) it matters most: they both

Quinton Murphy knows what he likes and what he likes is Ashley Miles, May's best friend. But Ashley is willful, stubborn and has a plan for her life. She works hard and he knows he doesn't factor into her future. Good thing he's as stubborn as she is because he wants her in his life and he is going to make her realize that she can have her future and he can be a part of it. But he's not counting on how protective she is going to be of her heart. He knows she is hiding something from him and he w ...more

There are times Quinton doesn't care what he has to do, he just wants to spend time with his woman, “I would enjoy it,” he promised her. And he realized that he would. He’d happily help her fold clothes, cook dinner, or anything else she needed to do. He simply wanted to be with her. “I promise I’m not offering just to get in your pants again.” Quinton hates to see his girl upset, "a sucker punch to the gut couldn’t hurt as much as seeing Ashley cry. “Oh, no, baby, please don’t cry. Law #2

Quinton Murphy has the hots for Ashley Miles. He is rich and she is not. She has a plan that will see her secure with dreams fulfilled if she continues to work more than one job while going to college. She does not have time for romance so does not have time for Quinton. Well…that begins to change BUT there is also a stalker with bad intentions that must be found and dealt with before a HEA can be found for the two of them.

First thing to note is that this is a reissue if a previously published book so be sure you don't already own it. If you don't I recommend you give it a try. This is the second book in the series and although you don't have to have read the first book to follow along, I do think you will enjoy it more if you have. Quinton and Ashley are so cute together and even though Ashley is trying her hardest to stay away, she just can't resist him. Their story is fun and flirty and you don't want to miss i ...more

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
I really enjoyed this contemporary romantic novel. Although the pairing is unusual - Quinton is a rich, hot and sexy highflier and Ashley an innocent, hardworking girl from a difficult background, the chemistry between them is off the scale. There is an element of suspense throughout with a sick, evil person trying to harm her. The caring , protective side of Quinton was very appealing.

I haven't read book #1 and I found my self a little lost with this one even though it's supposed to be a standalone, there was quite e few characters from the previous novel and this one seemed to follow on from it. I found my attention wondering a little, which didn't help, as characters I should have known join in the story to solve mysteries and cause havoc. A great story line concept, I'll give this novel another shot after I've read book #1 .

Murphy’s Law is book 2 in Lori Foster’s Law series. While it is a standalone book, you would probably enjoy it more if you read Jude’s Law first. The danger and threat from the first book carries over into this one and targets Ashley. In other words, I started reading and missed some of those important facts and really got confused.

Murphy’s Law by Lori Foster is a sexy and stunning contemporary romance that you won’t soon forget. This book is a nice, light read and it is highly entertaining!

Ashley Miles does not need another distraction in her life. Working two jobs, going to school and being maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding is about all she can handle at the moment. Yet Quinton Murphy walks into her life and stirs up all kinds of feelings. He’s successful, gorgeous and has all the right moves. Being the assertiv

Ridiculously, unabashedly, over-the-moon romantic. A lot of good humor and interesting characters.
I could've done without all the reference to cage fighting. I looked it up and even small boys get involved in this! It's a very stupid, violent, so-called sport for idiot men and boys. One of the few rules is no fingers gouging in any orifice. I guess that describes this ridiculous… I don't even know what to call it.

This is the second book in the series. This story continues with Ashley who is the best Friend of May the heroine from the first book. Ashley had a difficult childhood, and as a result is fiercely independant. She's studying to be a nurse, has a job as a waitress and also a cleaning job, so her plate is full. When Quinten the CEO of the office building she cleans at night spots her, he's bowled over by Ashley, but he's certainly got his work cut out, she's not interested or as she tells Quinten ...more

After reading Jude's Law, I was so excited to read this book and was not disappointed. Quinton & Ashley meet in the first book of the series (Jude's Law) and we see there is some chemistry between them but since that book is not about them we don't see too much of the story developing.

While this book is about them, we still get to see Jude, May, Denny, and the others we met in book 1. That's why I love a good series and especially Lori Foster series novels, because we get to have such a good

Now THAT was much better!
Yes, at first, I thought it was going to be just as ridiculous as Jude's Law, but it wasn't. Yes, there was a lot of focus on the suspense, but also enough on Ashley and Murphy that it was enjoyable. It was actually kinda of cute to read a story of 'love at first sight'...I think the ending was great except I do wish Ms Foster would have continued on and given Tim a HEA, even if it was just a short novella. I think his character growth deserved it. But I'm not a writer,

it's been awhile since i read a Lori Foster novel. i forgot how fun and sensual her novels are. i loved this story about Ashley and Quinton. they had such a fun and cute relationship. i loved how Ashley was a little hard to get and how determined Quinton was at getting her. there was even a little suspense in this novel and it didn't overshadow the romance. i hate when that happens. i also loved the side characters. everyone was well developed and made the main characters just that much more fun ...more

Honestly, I almost gave it 1 star.
The main female character was beyond annoying. She is training for a nurse and has no idea about some basic information about human body and sexual intercourse. She's supposed to be "badass" but she's really a pushover. She allows the main male character to dominate her time and her schedule.

I'm disappointed by this one. I liked Jude's Law, it wasn't pretending to be anything else than an easy read. I thought this one would be the same.

Usually I don't write bad reviews especially for fluffy novels like this where my expectations are already low. So absurd I couldn't even finish and I slogged through 50 Shades! How many single billionaires are running around out there. I must be missing something. Much better mindless romances out there than this book. It made me want to chuck my kindle out the window. I wish I could give less than one star.
