The Alliance #3

Dagger's Hope

Rate this book
Dagger is a Trivator warrior. He is known for his dark and dangerous edge, making him the perfect warrior for impossible missions. He fears nothing, until he meets a young, delicate human female who wakens his heart. Her gentle touch, soft voice, and her shy sense of humor touch him in a way he never thought could happen. The thought of anything harming something so beautiful and fragile fills him with terror.

Jordan Sampson is slowly adjusting to her new life on a strange planet far away from war-torn Earth. She had been seventeen when she was brought to the Trivator’s home world of Rathon along with her older sister, Jesse, and younger sister, Taylor. Fear, confusion, and uncertainty of what the future holds threaten to drown her as she tries to fit in. There is only one hope that keeps her going. It is the handsome alien male that stirs something deep inside her and makes her feel whole.

When Dagger is captured during a mission and sold to the illegal Fight Rings, it is only the memory of Jordan that keeps him going. Time blurs as he slowly sinks deeper and deeper into a world of violence and pain until he becomes more animal than Trivator.

Jordan knows Dagger is out there, somewhere. She can feel him in her heart. The heart she gave to him the first time he held her protectively in his arms. When she discovers where he is being held, she refuses to let anything stop her from rescuing him. What Jordan doesn’t realize is that she has been Dagger’s hope during his captivity. The one thing that holds the thin thread to his sanity.

The fight to save Dagger takes Jordan on a journey that she hopes they both survive. The star system is a dangerous place for a young human female and a damaged Trivator warrior. Can Jordan reach Dagger in time, and if she does, can she heal his shattered soul?

Daggers Hope is the third instalment in The Alliance series by SE Smith. This one has to be my favourite so far. This is a reread, or relisten to be more precise, as I have the series in my Audible library. The narrator, David Brenin, does a fantastic job of bringing each and every character to life in these stories. As with the previous two books, this one is full of action, and an emotional roller coaster, as Jordan fights to find Dagger and bring him home. The underlying story continues through each book in the series.

If you have read the previous 2 books, you can skip 50% of this one. It barely had any original content. Made for fast reading.

The Hero was all good though - thank goodness, and I really liked the heroine! It was sweet how they were together, albeit a little boring when they were just being a couple. But they were devoted and had kept the faith for the 2 years he was missing.

Because I liked the characters, I stretched this to 3 stars, but the book itself did not deserve it. There were large chunks that were from the previous books and you felt like you knew the story. Sure a few specifics you learned, but the rest had already been shown in prior books.

I fell in love with Dagger's character in the first book, and have been waiting to read his book. I loved it! Dagger was amazing and it was so nice to get a glimpse of Razor and Hunter. I am really looking forward to Saber's story.

* I won a copy of this book through first-reads!

I really liked the hero and heroine in this read. They had such a sense of respect and loyalty to one another. This read was fast paced, and full of action. I'm not sure if this is a series I will personally continue, but I'm glad I read this book.

I love this book. The only thing is that I wish it were longer especially since there was a bit of flashback. I love the fact that S.E. Smith's other character, Jarmen, from the Lords of Kassis showed up in this book.

I can't wait for Saber and Taylor's story!!!

Dagger’s Hope by S E Smith

Science fiction romance. Third in The Alliance series. I read it without having read the prior books in the series without a problem. An intriguing chapter in the middle included a time traveling trio with funny robots searching for Jane, that I can only assume are from a different series. I will be researching those characters because they added quite a bit of humor in the middle of a darker romance.

Dagger, a Trivator Warrior was captured and is being used in a illegal fighting ring.
Jordan, his destined mate, has spent years working on her computer skills getting to know his world. She uses those skills to track and rescue Dagger.

Jordan is smart, computer savvy and determined. She’s loved Dagger since he and his brothers rescued Jordan, Jesse and Taylor from a difficult situation on Earth.

Dark and sexy, this book shows Smith’s preference for strong females, fated mates, suspenseful situations and detailed (often virgin) sex scenes.
Great frivolous entertainment.

Audible Editions!! EXCELLENT NAARTIONS!!
I loved Dagger and Jordan!!

Thought to be dead by the other Trivator Warriors Dagger has been captured and put in the Fighting Rings. As Dagger's Amate Jordan has never felt or believed Dagger is dead. She finds him and goes out to release him from the fighting rings.

They have a hot romantic adventurous story.

Not 5 stars because sometimes the storyline felt disjointed like when they meet the Americans but turned out to be Canadians in space.

Excellent Narration by David Brenan!!

I wanted to read Dagger and Jordan's book since the end of Hunter's Claim when Dagger was supposedly killed.

Unfortunately in this book there was too many pieces from the first book that I felt disappointed how few new things were happening here... There were whole paragrahs where past was revisited...

I think that it was done because people who haven't read the first book could understand what happened before, but personally I felt that it was unnecessary. This book is part of a series and I think people underatands that in a series you have to read books in order.

Otherwise I apprecaited Jordans loyalty and her stubborn desire to do everything to save Dagger! She was great in a very quiet way!

Still this is 3 and 1/2 stars, but I rounded it to 4...

Great story again from Susan.
Two years ago Dagger met Jordan and they fell in love. He went away on a mission and never came back.
Jordan has used the knowledge and technology on her new world to find Dagger and bring him back.

It was good to have flash backs from the past and see how Dagger and Jordan's relation evolved to the point of knowing they are mates.

I sweet story from Susan again, meeting characters from other books was great.
I am looking forward to Saber's story.

I loved the romance and steam between Dagger and Jordan. The rest was pretty predictable but entertaining.
Jordan and a team of Trivator warriors spring Dagger from the clutches of an evil guy who runs an illegal colosseum type setup.
Every so often there's a flashback of the early days of their relationship that were cute. I am not a fan of flashbacks but they did add to their romance.
I loved the way the evil guy got his comeuppance!
So even though it was utterly predictable, I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Safety is totally fine.

This was really fun.
Yes, it was predictable.
The two earthling I think were gay but they were foppish and silly. *argh*
Our lovers were both worth rooting for.
I’m wondering will there be more in this series. I’ve accepted we’re never getting deep World building but it’s a entertaining space romp.

Dagger's story is wonderful, it has thrilling escapes and chase scenes. With the baddies that are truly evil against the best goodies. We also meet some funny robots and other aliens from another series which crosses with the current.

Dagger's Hope by SE Smith is the long awaited third book in the Alliance series. This is Dagger and Jordan's quest to find a life together. It is about the life that was stolen from them by those that would imprison and use others for their own gain. This is about Dagger and the two long years of captivity he had endured, fighting each day just to stay alive and his Amate, Jordan that had relentlessly spent those years searching for him. He had promised to return to her and she would not give up until he was back in her arms where he belonged.

Dagger is a strong, feared Trivator warrior who was ambushed while on a mission by a notorious and ruthless mercenary. This mercenary uses him to add to his wealth by placing Dagger in cage fights that lead to death for those that do not win. He believes that Dagger is his property, he belongs to him and the only escape for Dagger is death in the cage. The only thing that keeps him going is the memory of Jordan and the promise he made to return to her.

Jordan is a middle sister that we first met when Hunter, Saber and Dagger found the sister’s hiding place on Earth. Even wounded and sick, she tried to protect her younger sister, Taylor. She has a backbone made of steel and is highly intelligent. She refuses to believe that he is dead and uses her knowledge of computers to find Dagger. Jordan is determined to bring Dagger home where he belongs and nothing or no one will stop her from finding her Amate.

This book has intense moments and is filled with twists that reacquaint us with "old" characters from previous series that are reintroduced to us in this "new" series. I found myself intrigued, wondering where the author was going and once again couldn't stop reading until I had finished. Ms. Smith gifts us with a beautiful, heart-stopping out of this world story that not only entertains the reader but also opens up endless possibilities. I look forward to the next book in the Alliance series and where the author’s imagination will lead us.

Everyone has a husky voice, once again.

When an author is fond of a phrase, and uses it continually, it may be overlooked while reading; however, in an audio book that phrase becomes like nails down a chalkboard. I picked up the "spoke in a husky voice" -phrase in book Two, Razor's Traitorous Heart, and unfortunately in remains in book three.

Aside from being "too husky," the book was working for me, until the ship with the French men and the robots showed up. I'm still don't understand what that was. Now, I will admit I haven't read through all of S.E's books; so I'm not sure if it's a spin off or not. It just left me confused, but their ship was cool.

I did like all the flashbacks. I thought they were executed perfectly. Jordan was a very decisive young woman, and I liked that she took action when she felt she needed to. Dagger didn't stand out much to me other than the fight ring; his personality was typical Trivator Warrior.

Overall the book was good and it gets three stars from me....Sara

Dagger's hope was vivid and came alive visually ..
I sure you are probably getting tired of this, but David Brenin brings to life SE Smith's stories with the best of visualization through his vocal talents.

With that said. I loved Dagger. I loved Jordan. I loved that SE Smith melded the first of the seires and show it from the point-of-view of Dagger and Jordan. I loved that we could she things in their perspectives. I loved seeing the dedication and determination that Jordan had. She knew in her heart that Dagger was alive. She new that he would never just leave her. So she would in turns never give up on him. There was much for Jordan to go through to find her amate. The was much that Dagger went through to be rescued. Then to almost loss Jordan was just too much for him.

Worth The Wait

I remember reading the last words in the first Alliance and telling myself to pre-order the next as soon as it was up. I also remember being very angry that the second in this series was not about Dagger's courageous rescue by Brave Jordan.

Holy Cats! This book kept me on the edge of my seat. A quick visit from Karmen and his crew had me laughing, while at the same time urging Dagger to get the shell out ASAP!

SE Smith's keeps us riveted to her various series by engaging us so entirely with her characters that we await stories about them with the same avidity as we do our most beloved friends.

Thank you, Mrs. Smith for once again pulling me out of my bland, boring life and plopping me in the middle of the adventurous worlds you have created.

I was so happy when Dagger's book came out. Hunter is one of my favorite
S.E. Smith's books, and now Dagger is right up there with it.
Dagger and Jordan have been separated for over two years. Jordan is the
only one that didn't give up on Dagger when they said that he had been killed.
Dagger is being forced to fight for a very bad villain....and Jordan is just smart
enough to find out where he his. I really liked that Jordan was so smart, but also
smart enough to ask for help to get to Dagger. Their love story is sweet, in spite of the
violence that surrounds them and is full of action, sexy moments and a great story line.

Absolutely Fantastic

I read it in one day because I could not put it down! Jordan is smart, brave, and persistent. She did not give up hope of saving Dagger no matter what horror or obstacles were in her path. And Dagger stayed alive only because of his thoughts and memories of Jordan. The man who owned Dagger and forced him to fight monsters in a cage was so evil I wanted to kill him myself. The author writes so well I felt I was there. Absolutely fantastic book.

This is by far not a bad read. But. It's dissatisfying to me because it lacks depth. It's sweet and lovey-dovey but it's void of substance. It may well be because I saw the potential of the story in the previous two installments and I think it's underdeveloped compared to what it may have been. Nonetheless, not bad. But if you're about to wade into this series, start with no. 1, that's where the series peaked (maybe just enough to carry you through the two followups).

Dagger's Hope, Absolutely Amazing Love Story

This was a wonderful love story of enduring love while dealing with death defying situations. So much emotion delivered by the characters that you are not going to be able to put the book down. Can't wait for Saber and Taylor's story, she's such a spitfire and he needs her to make him whole. I'm recommending that you have this wonderfully enjoyable reading in your own personal library.

Disappointed

I choose a one star for this book because the story was rushed. Th author did not take the then to build a story that was on the present. She used too many flashbacks. She then threw into characters that made no sense. I feel I washed my money. I don't like to give bad reviews but the poor writing of this book made it necessary.
