She did okay. Got enough acting work to pay the rent and keep the S.A.G. card. (Screen Actors Guild in case anyone is wondering.) She also worked as a Dialogue Coach in sitcoms. (That's code for acting coach and also means she helped the actors learn their lines.)
Writing came as a fluke. After blowing out several ligaments in her foot – from a beautiful backhand gone wrong on the tennis court – and a very intense dream (she apparently couldn’t stop talking about) her husband said, “Just write it down.” Prophetic words! With a lot of time on her hands since she was laid up, she took it to heart. Three weeks and fourteen hours a day later, she had a 450 page handwritten novel on her hands.
And so it began.
She is lucky to be married to the love of her life and they have one beautiful daughter who was, and continues to be, perfect so she saw no reason for others!
She likes kick-ass heroines and big stories. She likes to read them and she likes to write them. She likes romance, adventure, a little mystery and happy endings. Romance is the perfect genre for her.
Some of her favorite authors are Judith McNaught, Suzanne Brockmann and Linda Howard, just to give you the top of the list. (If you haven’t read these ladies, you’re missing out.)
She wishes she cooked and gardened and did all those other creative things, but she doesn’t. She loves to read and loves to cheer her kid on in soccer or any other sport that catches her fancy. She's a big dog lover, with no offense to cats other than their fur just about kills her.
That’s it in a nutshell. Hope you enjoy one of her adventures as much as she enjoyed writing it!

Imminent Danger is number 5 in a series, but it's the first of the series I have read. I think Adams tries to help out those of us that are "late to the party", however, I still felt a bit lost...For example, characters' previous experiences were referred to, but didn't seem quite clear & at times didn't seem relevant. There were two story lines going on, but they didn't seem to tie together cohesively.
Abbey and Blake are young & attractive. He is attracted to her, but she is closed-off to love and intimacy due to her past experiences. The story begins with Abbey witnessing a crime. Kim comes to visit California & help out a friend. She meets Leo, a movie star with a playboy reputation. They happen to meet in an accountant's office & witness suspicious activity there. That appears to be the only overlap in their stories. From there, the stories didn't mesh well for me. Even at the very end of the book when there is the reappearance of a character from early on it just didn't seem relevant anymore. The only thing each storyline seemed to have in common was the crooked accountant.
Perhaps if I had started the series from the beginning I would've enjoyed this one more. I like to have order so for me, being in the dark about the previous books affected my opinion of Imminent Danger. I'm sure fans of the series would find this worth the read.

Abbey & Blake, secondary characters in Dee J. Adams’ LIVING DANGEROUSLY, take center stage in IMMINENT DANGER, the latest installment in the ADRENALINE HIGHS series. (YES!!)
When Abbey witnesses a parking lot stabbing, she’s bumped up to the top of a Los Angeles crime organization’s hit list. Abbey, an aspiring professional dancer/Hollywood personal assistant, is hunted by dangerous men and haunted by her traumatic youth. She struggles to accept the protection AND love of Blake, a private investigator-in-training with his own devastating past.
Adams never fails to deliver a fast-paced plot filled with unexpected twists and “whoa…I can’t believe that just happened” moments. Abbey & Blake’s story is as deliciously sexually charged as it is suspenseful. While some romantic suspense authors primarily rely on melodramatic, "cheesy" dialogue to illustrate the burgeoning love between the main characters, Adams "keeps it real" by using simple, honest words AND actions.
LOVE the B story featuring mega famous Hollywood actor Leo Frost (DANGER ZONE & LIVING DANGEROUSLY)! The sparks between Leo and his new "friend" Kim, a sassy accountant visiting from Indiana, is sexy & very sweet. Keeping my fingers crossed that Leo & Kim get their own book!

Where to start with this one.
Overall, the plot WASN'T all that bad. I will, however, say that having the two distinct storylines with only the teeniest threads tying them together wasn't a very good idea. I realize that this is a romantic suspense novel, but the whole point of the romance aspect of it is for us to get the whole package when it comes to the guy and the girl meeting, falling in love, messing things up, then realizing they were meant for each other. But by having the two romantic storylines, we are robbed of a significant portion of the 'fun' of reading books like this, not to mention it made the overall story weaker, not stronger.
Now here's the nit picking parts. (OK, fine. The last paragraph was nit picking stuff also.) First, I don't care how strong and independent you want to portray your female (sort-of) leads, but when Kim thinks she just watched her best friend get blown to pieces, and she's like ho-hum... please.
Then let's talk about the other female lead, Abbey. Abby gets SHOT in the leg, and then the next time she's fussing about her injuries her worst worries about her audition less than a week later is whether or not she can cover the bruises on her face with make up. Hello! Shot in the leg. She's a dancer. Did ya forget about that?
OK, so Blake and hero's his family were kidnapped. I don't know if this was covered in one of the previous 4 books (which I haven't read) but I'm sorry, an entire family just doesn't get kidnapped randomly for no reason. You need to tell us WHY. Was his mother or father a public servant or something? Were they rich? Did they puts someone off? You don't leave that kind of stuff out. it's just making an already thin plot even worse.

Imminent Danger is a fast-paced romantic suspense with not one, but two romances. This book explores young love with the aspiring dancer Abbey Washington and Blake St. John, the PI protégé. Blake is an ever patient hero and Abbey is the hesitant lover who has bad guys after her because she's unintentionally witnessed something evil at a concert. The second fun and sophisticated love affair is between the hired accountant Kim Jacobs and the wayward adventure actor Leo Frost, who despite having a long and successful career discovers he's broke. As both couples struggle to gain intimate trust, the bad guys wreck havoc, but in true Dee J Adams form, she takes the underdog-fights-back scenario to new heights in this intense and explosive tale. Highly recommended for RS readers.

I've been reading a bunch of romantic suspense titles lately, and they're all amazing, (why is it people keep saying romantic suspense is dead?!), but even in a crowd of awesome, Imminent Danger stands out.
Why? For me, the story hit on all levels: protagonists I related to and cared about, complicated bad guys, danger, action, and two very different couples whose romantic plotlines could easily have stood alone, but were all the more powerful against the dramatic backdrop of foul motives and murder. Wrap all that up in Dee J. Adams' clean, evocative writing style, and there is literally nothing not to love.
Why? For me, the story hit on all levels: protagonists I related to and cared about, complicated bad guys, danger, action, and two very different couples whose romantic plotlines could easily have stood alone, but were all the more powerful against the dramatic backdrop of foul motives and murder. Non stop suspense. Heart stopping romance. Double romance and double action. First thing I did on finishing was check Amazon for the sequel. I gave four stars because while Abbey and Blake come to a happy ending, Kim and Leo are left hanging and I have to wait for the next book to see what happens to them. AND she hasn't written it yet? I hate waiting. Wonderful read. Dee J Adams! Hurry up and write the sequel.

I got this in the first read contest. I LOVED this one. This book is so good. This is the fifth book in the series but I definitely find it easy to jump in this world. I found the romance very sweet. I loved that the hero is not all alpha male with the heroine, and is very sweet with her as she deals with her past. I also love some of the side characters here. I will definitely read more of this series. Recommended for those who love romance books.

OMG OMG OMG Adrenaline high is right!!! Loved the story and its roller-coaster of ride. I am completely hooked on the people in these books can't wait for more. Once Again I couldn't put the book down AWESOME!!!

Nice addition to the Adrenaline Highs series. Blake and Abbey were a cute pair. It was nice to see Kim again and Leo was a pleasant surprise. Can't wait for their story!

Didn't like Abby. At All. Blake deserved better. Loved Leo and Kim.
