Polar Bear has lost his underwear! Where could it be? There's only one thing to do: Remove the book's underwear-shaped bellyband to find the missing pair! Is that Polar Bear's underwear? No, it's Zebra's—see the colorful stripes? What about that itty-bitty pair? No, those belong to Butterfly! And so the search continues, with every page revealing an animal in eye-popping undies. This laugh-out-loud, one-of-a-kind novelty book from Japanese design talents tupera tupera will surprise and amuse children and their parents, all while affirming the importance of putting on your underwear.
We loved this one! Such a fun book. I read it to my daughter and she asked if she could keep it. Great cover and pictures. Find out what happens when bear can't find his underwear.
A mouse helps a polar bear look for his underpants. Along the way, little cutouts let the reader guess who might be wearing the other underwear they come across in their search.
Like all underwear books, this one is a big hit with my daughter, and the bright photos and fun cutouts make it extra entertaining. I expect that we will end up purchasing this one.
Underwear-shaped diecut views help readers predict who the owner will be on the following pages while Polar Bear searches for his own underwear. The surprise ending is both funny and satisfying. Great read aloud for PreK-2.
Fun picture book about underwear. Ends with an inevitable surprise. Creative design of the book includes a pair of cardboard underwear on the actual book.
Polar Bear's underwear, so clean and so bright....
Thus ends this lovely, simple, and pretty hilarious picture book.
The premise: Polar Bear has lost his underwear. His friend Mouse suggests that they look for it together. Along the way, they find many pairs of underwear... but they don't find Polar Bear's until the very end (of course).
The genius of the book is in the cut-outs. Every other two-page spread features Polar Bear and Mouse looking at a pair of underwear. They determine quickly that it isn't Polar Bear's.... but whose is it? The cut-out on the right side of the page reveals only the underwear; it's not until you turn the page that the animal wearing the underwear is revealed!
The book ends with a little ditty about Polar Bear's love for his underwear.
Joe and I have now read this book often enough that I could recite it in my sleep. He yells out the answer to each pair of underwear gleefully, and loves helping me sing the ditty at the end. I've renewed the book from the library 4x now, so you could totally say that this is HIGHLY recommended by Joe.
This book is pretty adorable. Little polar bear can't find his underwear and he goes looking for them. A great book for guessing! Plus, kids love to talk about underwear...so yeah, you will get some laughs for this one.
It was as I read this book at my second all-ages storytime of the day that I realized that books about underwear work better for the preschoolers than toddlers, of course, because they're actually wearing underwear.
Underwear? Really? I wasn't sure at first about this one but it really grew on me and the little ones loved it. So goofy and fun.
The story is about Polar Bear and how he's lost his undies. Perplexed, he and his good friend Mouse begin a search.
What you get are big bright pages in sets. The first page of the set has Mouse and Polar Bear talking about whether what they spy on the next page could be PB's underwear. What children see is a page with a cut out and a bright 'mystery' pattern. One pattern, for example, has different kinds of food; while another has 'I Love Mice'. When you turn the page you get to see who it is.
I particularly like the itty-bitty cutout but kids will have their own favorites.
Besides the fun you can use this book to teach about patterns and to name animals like Pig, Mouse, Cat, Zebra....
A delightful and sturdy book made with thick paper.
Why I liked this book- This is a funny picture book that shows animals walking around in their underwear. Polar Bear has lost his underwear, and can’t remember what it looks like, so he and his friend mouse (wearing red undies) set out to find it! They find lots of underwear, but they all belong to different animals! Seeing what the animals are doing, and the little bit of text about it (for example: Pig’s underwear – “Nom nom nom. It’s Pig’s underwear!” (pig is eating)), will have young kids cracking up! The illustrations are slightly wacky, and will make kids laugh! This book team really makes it work! This is a marvelous picture book! *NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
