Nathan read this one to us last night and only had issues with a few words. He needed help with structures, coyote, constricting (he said constructing), and gazelles (he pronounced it with more of a j sound). Other than that, he did great and is really improving on reading out loud.

It was amazing because I like animals and Chris and Martin's creature power suits. They turned into a rattle snake, a draco, a gilla monster, a rock python, a basilisk, and a crocodile.

My six-year-old and I read this. I enjoyed it, but, since it doesn’t have a story, and since it was too similar to an encyclopedia, my six-year-old did not.

If I'm desperate for a book about reptiles I'll read this one to the preschoolers, but I wouldn't pick this as my first choice because even though it has awesome facts about the animals, I would have liked to have seen realistic images of the animals. Now I know that the book is based off of the show so I understand why the book has illustrations and not real photographs of the animals, but it's just my preference on what I would have liked to see. Plus, it has the guys changing into the animals in their animal suits and I'm not sure if that would be confusing or not for the little ones.

This book was just above Alice's reading level, and she struggled with it. I think it would have been better to have an entire book on one of these species with a story like they have in the show. Instead, there are two pages devoted to traits about each of a number of different reptiles with no unifying story line. Made it not as much fun.

Love the Kraft brothers

A little bit too quick on each animal. The creatures wouldn’t mean much with out watching the show. We love the pbs show wild Kratts. This a great way to get him to stay interested in reading.

Now I just need to retain the difference between crocodile and alligator. Alligator has a wider, curved snout, like a "c". Whereas crocodiles have a narrower, more angular snout, like letter "A".

"Alligators are grayish black. Crocodiles are brownish green."

I do enjoy Wild Kratts but there are some inaccurate wildlife facts in this particular book - the distinction between alligators and crocodiles is only applicable to AMERICAN alligators and crocodiles.

A good introduction to reptiles giving basic information on reptiles and fun facts about some interesting species. There is no evolution mentioned in this book … just straight facts.
