Thank you for assist . I finally managed to download the book (YES!!!!) It looked like there was a change in editions so the earlier one was not available for a period of time. But it is here now! Can't wait to sink my teath in to it! ;)

Once again Nalini Singh proves with her newest release, Archangel Shadow why she's my favorite paranormal romance/urban fantasy author.
I love this book. It has so much to offer its readers in terms of an emotional and engaging plot, a powerful and poignant love story, witty and intelligent dialogue, and characters so richly developed and multilayered they breathe life into each and every page. I fell in love with this story, its hero and heroine, and its ability to mak ...more
So I know I said that I don't like angels in Urban Fantasy in my last review, but I should have qualified that statement: if the angels are simply winged, humanoid beings without ties to religion (and only called "angels" for lack of a better description), then I like them juuuuust fiiiiiiine. And if they happen to be the angels in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter books, then I flat-out L-O-V-E them.
Guild Hunter is kind of an odd series. It's part UF, part PNR, and it's kind o ...more
***Possible spoilers for this book - DEFINITE spoilers for previous books***
So I had two options for a review title in my head when I sat down to write this. My original one was a little...longer. I went with the above option (obviously), but here is what I originally wanted to go with:
3 - 3.5
We have been waiting for a year to witness the aftermath of two Archangels fighting over New York. Raphael's light beat the hell out Lijuan's darkness but the Archangel of Death though beaten isn't yet dead. The town has gained a respite. To heal its wounds and bond tighter than ever.
So, it's Aswini and Janvier's time. To let themselves fall in love and share their deepest, darkest fears.

I was bored for the most part, the heroine's non-stop angsting and self-pity was off putting. On top of that, the romance and main arc were nothing I hadn't read about countless times before, it was the same old, same old. There were some good parts though, I loved the Guild Hunter world and the majority of the secondary characters.
-What's what: Ashwini/Janvier's story. POV's from Elena/Raphael and other characters as well. The story mainly followed Ash/Janvier's romance whilst they inv ...more
A buddy read with the Wednesday UF group at BB&B! We need to get our hunting on!!!
This was supposed to be a buddy read. For those of you who are not familiar with the concept, a BR is a book reading club, only on line, and several people decide on a book, a date and read it, while making comments and discussing the said book. What makes it a buddy read as opposed to a read along is the act of discussing and communication. Well, I sucked at being a good buddy this time, and I blame Na ...more
I know, I come up with beautiful analogies.
This world where there are angels (but they are more like another race - not heaven's angels) and vampires is so awesome. I almost want to live there. Well, as long ...more
The wonderful thing about reading Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series is that no matter if it's been 3 months or a year since you've read her last book, by the time you've finished the first page, you're transported right back into her fantastic world of cruel, cold angels; ruthless, sexy vampires; and kick-ass, sassy, warrior-hunters.
Ms Singh's world-building, characters, and stories are amazing, addictive, creative, memorizing, thrilling, dangerous, and sexy.
“I’ll show you things that’ll make you laugh in delight, scream in passion, cry for the sheer joy of it.”
This book is the full story of Janvier and Ashwini, a romance that started in the Angels' Pawn novella. Angels' Pawn was just a small taste of what an awesome pair Ash and Janvier would make one day. Their romance is full of witty remarks and entertaining back and forths. It was honestly a delight to read. The fact that both of them are also badasses didn ...more

"You were always meant to be mine."~Sigh~
"Neither one of us has ever been in control of the thing between us. It has its own stubborn, relentless will."Though Ashwini and Janvier's story fell a bit short for me (in comparison to Jason and Mahiya's for example), it was still written by Nalini Singh, which means it was far superior to a lot of things I read.
Warm and strong, his scent earthy and familiar, he made the bruises inside her hurt less, her mus...more

Ashwini and Janvier…YES!!! We are back on track. Okay so I’m straight up going to say that I really prefer the stories that aren’t centered on Elena and Raphael. The stories that have other characters as the main players seem to appeal more to me. That could just be because I we’ve had four stories centered on them or that I struggle with them as a couple sometimes. But Ash and Janvier’s story is too much fun.
He has b ...more

“Don’t let immortality do that to you,” she whispered. “Don’t let it steal your soul.”
Moss green eyes held her own. “It is, others tell me, far easier to stay human if you split your heart in two and give one part to another to keep.”
I fell in love with Janvier and Aswini in the novella Angels’ Pawn, and I’m so happy that they got their own novel.

You know how Nalini has a way of putting these little interesting tidbits about secondary characters in her books? It's one of the reasons I don't want any of her series to ever be over. She teased us with Ash and Janvier since Angels' Blood and yes, they are finally hooking up! :D
So, we know they danced around each other since forever- angel would put a hit on Janvier and when Ash is just about to catch him, Janvier would make piece with angel in question. In immortal terms, that's ...more
Onto the book review now.
For me, the first half of the book was a 4 star rating, and the second half was 3. Hence 3.5
I did get the feeling that this was a filler book in the series since not much happened to move the story forward.
Also, one thing that I noticed is that, at least for me, this book focused much less on the main couple than the other o ...more
I want to weep at how cute and sweet and caring they are to each other.
Here are some of my thoughts:
• Ash is badass. No doubt about that. Her backstory made me feel for her so much.
• Janvier. Ugh. He can’t be anymore perfect. There are no words for him. He is fun-loving and serious at the exact perfect moments for Ash. He certainly supports Ash with both his humor and his deep understanding and acceptance of her. He is so loyal, honest, and straightforwar ...more
Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books
Nalini gives us the story of Ashwini and Janvier in this installment. It has the trademark formula of a mystery and love set in her Guildhunter world.
Ashwini is Janvier's one and only. Ever since the hunter chased him across the bayous of his homelands he has fallen for her. Nothing like a crossbow at your throat to make you go gaga over a girl, right? Janvier is the cheeky, charming and hot Cajun vampire who Ash can barely resist. If it wasn't for h ...more

Fans of the series will be trilled to note that ARCHANGEL’S SHADOWS is Ash and Janvier’s book. As if the novella wasn’t enough, Singh shines the spotlight on the kickass Guild Hunter and our favorite Cajun hottie while also hitting us with an intriguing mystery as well.
Bodies are showing up in various times and places, all involving some suspicious and similar traits. Tasked with finding out who is responsible for this, Ash must go hunting for this unknown killer. Yet Janvier isn’t willing t ...more
To be fair, Ashwini and Janvier were very sweet and playfull, and had a great chemistry between them. Their storyline was gripping and fun, bloody brilliant twist was made with Ash's ability and her family. With bittersweet notes as well as joyfull streaks, courtesy of miss Singh's amazing talant.

Other books in the series
“Am I a person, Dmitri? Will you be sad if I die?”
Hardened and cruel though he’d become, the innocent question had shaken him. “Yes,” he’d said, as honest in his answer as Naasir had been in his question. “You are a person. You are Naasir. I’ll lose a piece of me if you die and it’s a piece I’ll never get back.”
Naasir had stared at him for a long time before coming over to hug him. “Okay, Dmitri. I’m sorry. I didn't know I was a person before.”
Elena snorted, in no doubt of Caliane's acerbic tone. "Can you blame her? First you send her a tiger creature who eats people he doesn’t like, and then a vampire with the eyes and fangs of a viper.” She held up a finger. “Oh, and let’s not forget the mortal you keep as a pet.”
“My mother does not consider you my pet, Elena. She is very kind to pets.”
