Breakfast can be boring.
Saving the life of an incapacitated whale is NOT boring.
Mom keeps hurrying Ready along and prompting him to do his morning necessities (get dressed, eat breakfast, etc.) but he'd rather play and daydream.
NOTES:
Pictures of stuffed animals and toys, NOT illustrations.
Ready considers wearing a pink prom dress with silky ruffle. This is treated as completely normal and reasonable, even though Ready is a male. Success! I found this to be a positive thing.
LOL But it's silly because rabbits do everything naked, apparently, and don't wear clothes.
There's also a section where Ready is on the toilet. For some reason. Even though he's a rabbit who doesn't wear clothes he apparently uses the toilet. o.O
Tl;dr - Cute, fun, has no point.

The third book is Ready Rabbit Gets Ready! by Brenna Malony. This comes to us from Viking and the illustrations are done through photograph with posed figures. And Ready Rabbit is this lovely, kind-of-like sock bunny (really cute) who is maybe Kindergarten-age, getting ready to go to school, no less. And we keep running into, I'm sure you're hearing me filling through the pages as I'm talking about it to you about it, Ready Rabbit, every time mom says, "It's time to get ready," gets distracted by toys or by his imagination or by wanting to play something else, and its is just something that… I mean, I have a four-year-old and I'm relating to every single distraction that this rabbit is going through. The photos are just wonderful to stare at, to look at and to wonder, "how large are these miniatures?" And if you turn to the very back of the book you will see in Brenda's author photo that she has this Ready Rabbit, and it's only about maybe six inches tall. So to know that all of these are created on that scale, and photographs so clean on this white background… it just is something new to look at and something that I think a lot of kids will relate to when they are getting ready to go to school.

This creative picture book for preschoolers about a young rabbit who is ironically named Ready, will strike a chord with both parents and children alike. Ready has to get up and prepare to go to school but finds himself getting distracted by more pressing issues like riding his imaginary motorcycle and saving the life of an incapacitated whale. But with the gentle insistence of his momma, he ultimately ends up living up his name in time. A perfect story to share with little ones who seem to have a tendency to get off track, the photographed story incorporates toys, miniatures and a very expressive stuffed animal to tell the tale with wit, humor and charm.

Ready Rabbit needs to get up and get ready for school but can he do it without some extra stops along the way? This was cute but quite frankly the sock puppet rabbit put me off. The story is full of interesting leaps of imagination as Rabbit's mom tries to get him ready but I didn't feel like this was anything out of the usual.

It goes on a bit long for a one-note story. It's about a rabbit who keeps procrastinating getting ready for school because of his overactive imagination. Not really a new concept. The illustrations are creative, but it seems clear that the story was built around the props and not the other way around.

Delightful and adorable, Ready Rabbit has imaginary adventures before leaving for school in the morning. The pictures are very cheeky and relate well to the story.

Narrative was a little lacking - felt like it was merely a vehicle to show off sock rabbit among various props.

Best thing about this book was definitely the "illustrations" which were created with a sock puppet of Ready Rabbit and lots of dollhouse furniture and toys, etc. I know my 4s and 5s didn't all appreciate how neat those pictures were, but I do like introducing them to a variety of techniques for illustrating a story! They liked that Ready Rabbit was always distracted and his mom had to keep calling for him. And there was underwear AND a toilet so of course they found it hilarious!

A story of a rabbit's imaginary adventures during his morning routine, shown through photographs of a bunny sock puppet interacting with real objects. The charm of this story comes from it's illustrations.
It would make a great inspiration for kids to write their own book and illustrate it using their toys.

A book about a procrastinating bunny trying to get ready for school. My daughter loved this book. She loved the pictures too. Since acquiring this book I have had to read this MULTIPLE times. Would recommend.

Very cute art. Ready Rabbit has a HUGE imagination. Unfortunately for Mama Rabbit, he uses it most effectively after being told to get ready, delaying his readiness. A relatable tale for parents and little ones alike.

When Ready Rabbit wakes up in the morning, he doesn’t feel like getting right out of bed. But his mother keeps on calling him so he gets up. Then before he starts to get ready to go, he has to build a spaceship. His mother calls for him to pick up his toys and get ready to go. So Ready decides to get dressed. But what should he wear? He has all sorts of costumes to try on and consider until he remembers that rabbits don’t wear clothes! Breakfast is ready but Ready finds it quite boring to sit and eat. He’d rather be doing a daring rescue with an ambulance. Brushing teeth takes some concentration and before you know it, there’s toothpaste everywhere. Will Ready ever be ready for school?
Maloney creates the ultimate distracted child in Ready Rabbit, a rabbit who can’t concentrate on anything except his imagination. The voice of the mother only appears in voice bubbles and she never appears on the page. So the book is fully centered on the protagonist and his vivid imagination. The book works hard to make sure that the tone of the mother is encouraging and not angry and that Ready is actually slowly making progress towards getting ready even as he plays around.
The illustrations make this book particularly special. Ready Rabbit and all of his things are objects with Ready being a knit bunny with a face that is a piece of fabric with changing expressions drawn on it. One might not think it would work, but the result is charming and has a very different vibe than many picture books.
Families trying to get ready in the morning will recognize their own wish to play just a little bit longer. Appropriate for ages 3-5.

I enjoyed the play of Rabbit and his imagination as he delays ready-time. Author-artist Brenna Maloney did a fabulous job with the staging of the characters of the book. Loved sock puppet rabbit and his facial expressions, which really added to the story. Each page is a joy to look at. A delightful book.

Story was fine. The first few scenes featuring the rabbit and the miniature furniture and props is cute. Then other random toys creep in, and it seems like the author just took pictures with whatever was laying around, rather than setting specific scenes for the story. Also, I found the faces drawn on ripped-out fabric creepy and messy. Kinda ruined the cute sock rabbit for me :(

Ready Rabbit needs to get ready for school. He has an excellent imagination that takes him on different adventures, but they need to wait. The school bus is coming and Ready needs to ready!
The artwork is actually photographs of little scenes. It reminds me of Adventures of Cow, but less silly.
