Ben Radcliffe is a saddle-maker. He comes to Last Chance Ranch to deliver a spectacular saddle for the matriarch Sarah's 70th birthday. He had an abusive father and is terrified of becoming a man who beats his wife and children. Therefore, he vows never to get married and have kids - in fact, he gets a vasectomy.

Molly Gallagher is staying right down the hall. She is a professor and her hobby is genealogy - which means she annoys everyone by making them fill out long forms on family history.

I thought this short book was OK. I did not hate it and I did not love it. I have not had the opportunity to read any other books in this series so the number of characters in this book was a bit overwhelming and I felt a bit lost at times. I do think that readers who have read other books in

I was so happy to be back at Last Chance for Christmas this year. Thompson takes the world that she’s developed earlier in the series and throws a holiday surprise into the mix. This novel is well written with descriptions that make it very easy to picture the world surrounding the characters. The multifaceted storyline is simultaneously complex and easy to follow.

Getting to know the main characters in this novel was very enjoyable. The complexity of what makes them who they are combined with t

Unfortunately this one wasn't a winner for me. I didn't warm to Ben or Molly at any point during the story. They both felt very immature and I found myself annoyed with them both. Molly constantly talked about how being thin was a curse and that men didn't find her attractive. Ben doesn't really help matters when he informs her that most of the women he has been attracted to have all been more well proportioned than Molly. Molly needing the amount of reassurance and coddling that she did was ano ...more

Almost OK, but no quite..

This is my first book by Vickie Lewis Thompson and I really didn’t find it all that great. It spent a LOT of time on Sarah’s surprise birthday present, then a LOT of time on Ben and Molly desiring each other. There wasn’t an actual story. So I can’t see me reading anything else by her. It took too much for me to finish this novella. At one point Pete said he was “stoked” about something and I really can’t see a man over 70 using that word. Then later when Molly was telli

Ben comes to the Last Chance ranch to deliver a custom made birthday present the family commissioned him to make for beloved Sarah. He is asked to pose as a horse buyer to not cause suspicion. Molly is a cousin interested in documenting the family history. They promise each other a few nights but not forever.

I really love this series. We get to see many of our favorite family members and check in with them. All the immediate family characters we grew to love in the opening books of this series a

I was given an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for my review. In fairness to the author, I have not read any other books in this series, which made it distracting as I read this book. Throughout the book, the author introduces an overload of characters that were the center of the rest of the series and I felt it pulled away from the main storyline.

A Last Chance Christmas is the latest in the Sons of Chance book by Vicki Lewis Thompson. It is currently scheduled for release in digital format on December 1 2014 and in paperback on November 18, 2014. Ben Radcliffe has not had the best family life, and plans on never having a family of his own to avoid repeating his father’s mistakes. But when he delivers a special present to the Last Chance Ranch Ben catches a glimpse of what family could be.

A LAST CHANCE CHRISTMAS is a heartwarming, fast read. The characters and storyline are well-developed. Ben comes from an abusive family and he has decided to not get married or have kids. He does not want to be like his father. When he delivers a custom-made saddle to the LAST CHANCE RANCH, he meets Molly. Molly is there to get information for her family tree. I have enjoyed all of the Chance books by Vicki Lewis Thompson, so I was looking forward to A Last Chance Christmas. As usual Ms. Thompson has a written a delightful book with strong memorable characters that carries strong family undertones in the story line.

Ben Radcliffe and Molly Gallagher are two such memorable characters. Both are strong, driven to excel in their profession but become even stronger when together. The development of the relationship is the focus of the story which I really

Ben and Molly couldn’t be more opposite. Ben is a lone wolf, not big on family and not looking to have a family. But Molly is all about family; she comes from a big family and wants to find out all she can about her family. My Thoughts:

You know those books where you pick it up and start reading and then you just can't stop reading it because of how addictingly good it is? (Yes, I'm making up words.) Well, this was it. I was reading it and found myself completely immersed in the romance. Molly and Ben had chemistry like you wouldn't believe. Ben's past is one you sympathize with, and you hope with all your heart that Molly can be the one to help him br

I knew with this being a Vicki Lewis Thompson book I wouldn't be disappointed. I also knew with it being another Last Chance ranch book I'd fall in love with it and I did.
This one was a bit different, Ben had a harder road ahead of him with his past and his fears of what he could become.
Lucky for him Molly was visiting the Last Chance and saw something in him, more than he gave himself credit for.

This was a great quick read about learning to love and be loved. Ben came from an abusive past and has no intention of marrying and having kids. Molly is in town to research her family tree. When they meet there is an instant connection. What starts off as just a fling turns into something so much more. Will Ben be able to trust himself with love or will he walk away and give it up? I loved the family dynamics in all of these books and this one didn't disappoint. The characters are well develope ...more

As with every other Vicki Lewis Thompson book I've ever read, I loved this book. She makes a saddle maker and a history professor seem like the most natural match ever. Ben is of course damaged emotionally, whereas Molly is the wide eyed optimist. But together they even each other out as they steam up the rest of the world.

I may have enjoyed this even more if I'd read all the Last Chance books, and I may go back and do that. I'd definitely recomme

I love this series! Even though there are several books in this series, you need not have read them as it can easily be read as a standalone. What’s better than getting to spend Christmas with the Chances? A real country Christmas with great characters, some we know and new ones; a super hot and sweet romance, and plenty of Christmas cheer! Thank you Ms. Lewis Thompson for another great book!

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for making this wonderful book available to me.

Ben Radcliffe never expects to find a family when he agrees to make a saddle for the owner of Last Chance Ranch but that is what he finds; a family and even more. Molly Gallagher is just visiting. She is part of the Arizona branch of the family. In this the last book in the Sons of Chance series Thompson sets the stage for a new series featuring the Gallagher's of Arizona. A nice story with two wonderful main characters and a chance to visit with the characters from previous books. ...more

This is a pretty good read and a good addition to the series. It is a bit short and the romance is rushed. I would have liked to have seen it stretched out a bit. Ben Radcliff is determined to live his life alone, no wife, no kids. He fears he will become his father. But when he spends an incredible weekend at the Last Chance ranch and meets the incredibly sweet Molly he begins to want more. So much more...

I loved this lovely Christmas romance story. Opposites attract in A Last Chance Christmas. We meet Molly a history college professor who meets Ben a cowboy from Wyoming.

They quickly become involved and learn one another's fears and wishes. But will they live happily ever after or just enjoy a short term affair.

5/5 stars, Happy Reading, Ashley.

A Last Chance Christmas (The Sons of Chance Series) by Vicki Lewis Thompson is a Harlequin Blaze book and a wonderful post-Thanksgiving treat! When Ben Radcliffe is contracted to make a saddle and deliver it to the Last Chance Ranch for a birthday present, it's a big secret. Only a few people know the truth about why Ben is at the ranch and are determined to keep it hush-hush. No one is to know that the saddle is a gift for the 70 year old matriarch, Sarah Chance, so "all lips are sealed!"

This book did not work for me.

First, I need to mention that I didn't know it was #17 in a series of 17 books. That would've been extremely helpful to know prior to reading it, but it was not clearly stated on the cover or in the summary. If I would have known about all the other books in the series, I would not have requested it from NetGalley. That being said, I read it as a standalone, but it didn't work very well as such.

The latest release in this author’s Sons of Chance series, it works reasonably well as a standalone title, but there is certainly more familiarity with the plethora of characters introduced if you have read earlier titles in the series.

A western-themed romance, Ben is a custom saddlemaker, set to deliver a saddle to the Last Chance Ranch. The saddle is to be a secret, so he uses the ploy of looking for a horse as a cover – and runs straight into Molly.

This a light story, definitely something that I would pick up if I simply wanted a pick-me-up that left me feeling warm and fuzzy! It’s a pretty quick read and that also made it enjoyable. It was long and drawn out, but rather, it got to the love story very quickly and kept the momentum through the book. Since it’s on the shorter side, it didn’t have time to slow down or get boring.
Fair warning, if you’re opposed to “insta-love” you won’t want to read this. I have no issue with it and sometimes

A Last Chance Christmas by Vicki Lewis Thompson

I love the whole Harlequin Blaze Son of Chance series by Thompson. The men are true heroes in their activities and especially in how they treat their women - like they are precious and with great respect. Sure they start out as true bachelors that don't want family or like the cowboy life, but in the end, family is everything.
In this book Ben Radcliffe has decided to never have children and has taken measures to insure it doesn't happen. It's based

Molly Gallagher is visiting Last Chance Ranch to complete the geneaology book for their family. As a cousin and a historian she’s invested in making sure it’s right!

I am giving this a 3 star the reason being I didn’t hate it or love it. It was a nice read but had nothing to really stick and grab you.
