Dead Man's Carve by Kym Roberts is the first book in her new series Tickled To Death. In my opinion, Kym wrote a top notch mystery with relatable characters and a great plot.

Rilee Dust considers herself a widow since her fiancee' was killed in a forest fire over two years ago. She has kept herself busy running a small wood carving shop in Tickle Creek, Oregon. She has basically insulated herself from anything that involved emotional connections. Until she is adopted by a boxer who she names Boga

Dwad Man's Carve is another outstanding novel from Kym Roberts. This series does not have the humor of her Dead on Arrival, but it carries such heart that there is nothing lacking. This wonderfully plotted story left me seriously perplexed until the reveal. I could guess parts of the plot but I couldn't put it all together. I love that in a mystery!

I can't wait to get to know the characters of the community better and to see where things go. I got an emotional workout on this one, laughing, cry

The blurb for this book is a great summary, giving you most of the important components (including the fact that all proceeds go to wounded veterans), but what it doesn’t give you is an inkling of the depth of emotion underlying this tale of mystery and murder.
Rilee is a widow. Well, almost. She never got to walk down that aisle with her beloved – he died doing his job, in a forest fire, trying to save people, and Rilee is still counting the days since he left her.
And the new almost-widow on the

Kym Roberts has done it again with her tale of mystery and mayhem set in the Pacific Northwest.

Like her previous novel DEAD ON ARRIVAL, DEAD MAN’S CARVE weaves mystery with humor and a little bit of sexiness to create a fun tale of a small town artist who’s thrown into the middle of a scandal involving the strip club next door and the town that doesn’t want it.

As the first novel in a series set in the fictional town of Tickle Creek, DEAD MAN’S CARVE introduces us to some great characters, each w

Book title: Dead Man's Carve Author Kym Roberts Rating 4 stars

Ms Roberts packs a lot of intense, deep feelings into this thoroughly enjoyable little mystery. One can't help but commiserate with the spectrum of emotions that Rilee goes through in this story; love, loss, despair, disappointment, confusion, caring and determination among others. I adored Bogart and Betty (who reminds me of Betty White with her sassy tongue and naughty mind despite advanced years). Others like Brandy Kay, Mayor Bob,

What a wonderful cozy mystery by Kym Roberts. Dead Man's Carve was a book that kept me hanging on until the last page.Packed full of suspense and mystery with a touch of Romance. Rilee Dust a wood carver enjoys making wood pieces for people when she got a job to make a bride and groom for an upcoming wedding. Little did she know that those pieces would be part of a crime scene. Bogart a boxer dog was a great friend and companion for Rilee as she tried to uncover what exactly was going on in Tick ...more

#1 in "A Tickled to Death Mystery", what an awesome beginning. Mystery, danger, and romance, blended into a cozy little mystery, with a bit of humor and lots of suspense. Kept me guessing right to the end, then very surprised. A dog, a murder, and a mystery all tied up in a neat little mystery. Fast paced with an intriguing and compelling storyline, with characters who are engaging, makes this a wonderful, old fashioned, cozy mystery. Oh, did I forget to mention, prescription drugs, a bride, a br ...more

Dead Man's Carve is one of the best mysteries I've read. This book had all the right components for me: mystery, romance, humor, small town, unique characters, fascinating twists and turns, and especially the surprises. The author did an outstanding job in keeping me guessing. When I thought I finally figured out something, there would be a twist or a turn. I loved this because it kept the book so intriguing and interesting; then the author added some great humor in the storyline. Dead Man's Car ...more

This is a novel that will keep you guessing. Well written with a lot of twists and turns that intrigue the read until the very end. Proceeds will be donated to organizations that support wounded veterans so you can't go wrong! The only complaint I have is that the end leaves the reader with lots of questions and make the story seem unfinished. I hope Kym will continue the story and provide us with answers in a future book.

Deeply emotionally tense. Mysterious and seat gripping. First in the series and it has set the series off into a well balanced well written mystery with more to come. This book will keep you on the edge from start to finish, and I don't recommend you having any other plans or things to do when you start reading this book, you won't be able to put it down!

I was given book for honest review. A town against the stripper bar, a dead body, Rilee the wood carver, a military man, and the wildlife. When I first read the title and synopsis I thought this should be good. Kym Roberts proved me right. Mystery with humor abound add in a shaving of romance and she wrote a heck of a book.

Fantastic mystery! A quirky little town with strong characters and a small hint of a brewing romance. I could not figure out who the murderer was among all the plot twists and crazy characters, until the very end. Great story line that kept me guessing. I hope Bogart plays a part in future books. He's pretty amazing!

3.5 stars. Slight Spoilers if you keep reading...

Rilee is a self proclaimed widow whose finance died in a fire. Stone is a mysterious man who saves her and Bogart is a dog who seemingly shows up one day. When one of Rilees customers is found dead the circumstances don't seem to add up and bodies continue to show up around her, all related to the strip club, Woody's.

I would recommend this one. The ending left it open enough that Roberts could easily continue this story on for Rilee and Stone and

This story had some cute and funny bits, but I'm beginning to believe that maybe cozy mysteries just aren't my thing. If you like them, though, it's worth a try--plus, the author's proceeds from sales are going to an excellent cause.

I enjoyed all the "men" in Rilee's life quite a bit: Stone (AKA the "military man") is the strong mysterious alpha type; Galvin, the "master carver" and Rilee's dad lends her quiet strength; and Bogart/Sam, the boxer who adopts her, is quite a character all on his ow

Who knew that carving a bride and groom for a wedding cake can lead to the murder of the groom.

Rilee Dust is not the average wood carver in a small town named Tickle Creek in Oregon. She isn’t too concern about her neighborhood strip club like the rest of the community who would like to see its demise.

She finds herself being adopted by a dog who leads her to find a dead body. The victim she recently saw the evening before when he picked up the wedding cake toppers with his

First of all, any story that references Humphrey Bogart has my attention. In the case of this story, Bogart is not only a character, but he's a dog. Perfect! :) Secondly, the premise behind this brand new series is so much fun. Rilee is a fantastic character that's easily likable. I love the feel of the story, and the pacing is perfect for a cozy. There is a bit of language in this book, which is a bit uncharacteristic of a typical cozy, but it actually adds an air of reality to the story itself ...more

Three career paths resonated for Kym during her early childhood, a detective, an investigative reporter, and a nun. Being a nun however, dropped by the wayside when she became aware of boys, they were a perk to life she couldn't deny. In high school her path was forged when she took her first job at a dry cleaners and met every cop in town, especially the lone female police officer in patrol. Foll ...more
