I freaking devoured this book! A five star rating is super rare for me these days-- it seems that I've gotten very picky when it comes to my romances-- but this book is exactly what I love to read in romance novels!!

Where has Alicia Rae been all this time!? I came across this book totally by chance on Goodreads and this reminds me why I love this website so much because I don't think I would've encountered A Beautiful Thought otherwise.

ABOUT THIS BOOK:

Before anything else, this is the fifth book in the Beautiful series, but there are only two couples before this since couple #1 has three books. That being said, this book can totally be read as a stand-alone! Which is what I did because I came across this book first, and because I tend to jump into series totally late and don't want to start from the beginning.

So what is this book about?

Our heroine, Gail Bennett, is a physical sports therapist and is in a bit of a financial pickle. Her hours at work have been cut back and without those extra hours and the overtime there is no way she can make all her payments and help pay for her autistic sister's education.

Her best friend suggests taking a roommate and who better than said best friend's future brother-in-law, Damon Johnson? Damon is juggling two jobs and doesn't know if he is going to be living in California permanently so this roommate situation is beneficial for him as well. He can test the waters before leasing an apartment.

Both Gail and Damon are hesitant in the beginning. They are both attracted to each other and think it can't possibly end well. Gail has been screwed over repeatedly in the past and doesn't want to put her heart on the line again. Will Damon convince her that he's not like the other guys she has dated? Or will her reluctancy to get involved end up hurting them both?

MY THOUGHTS:

✿ It is so hard these days finding a hero that doesn't sleep around so imagine my delight when not only do I find a hero that doesn't sleep around, I find this wonderful, compassionate, loving, AMAZING hero! Damon is THE perfect book boyfriend! He is so good to Gail from the get-go and with every loving action I fell for him alongside Gail.

I also adored Gail. She was sensible, hard-working, kind-hearted, and mature. She always puts others needs before herself and what else can I say? She was totally awesome. Gail wasn't super brazen and was a little shy at times but it didn't annoy me like how it normally would. Maybe because she could hold a conversation with Damon without blushing and stuttering like a fool.

✿ I loved reading about Damon and Gail as a couple! They don't spend majority of the novel fighting their feelings and after they get together it was just cuteness overload. Their dates and sexy times were so fun to read about! It was a low-angst story about this couple's relationship that has a few minor bumps along the way. Nothing too major, just enough to make the story more interesting.

✿ I never once doubted their commitment to each other and watching them get to their HEA was such a delight.

✿ I also loved their group of friends. They were all so supportive and caring of one another. I wish I could find friends like these one day.

✿ If you're a fan of Kristen Proby, then you HAVE to check this book out! It totally reminded me of Proby's books.

Overall, this was a perfect feel-good book! I actually had to tell myself to slow down because I wanted to enjoy every sentence of this book. It's perfect for you if you're sick of the "bad boy" trope and OTT drama in most romance books.

2.5 STARS!

☾I don't really have a full review on this story :/ it's one of those books that took me only a few short hours to read, not because it was crazy good, but because I was hoping the plot line would get better. I was hoping to hear more background on Damon's story, but never did.

☾I like Gail's personality and all but her actions at times annoyed me so much. She got mad at him for not telling her about Boston, but the scene just irked me. I know it was supposed to be maybe a climax in a way but it still just felt like the scene was added in there just to be in there. You get me? No I'm probably talking craziness

Good read for when you want something low on drama. Highlight of this book is the great characters. Both the H & h are very likeable and the type you would want as your friends.

Part 5 in a series but can be read as a standalone

My A Beautiful Thought Review ...

So, this for me was one of those books that I liked but different love.  It wasn't written poorly, the story was good but in the end there was just something that I didn't connect with the characters and the story.    It can be read as a stand alone but I think it would have been better read as a whole series. I liked it but it felt too neat and tidy, too smooth that its missing the raw and edginess of the relationship woes.

Gail was down on her luck and needed financial assistance so her BFF came up with the thought that she should room with her new sexy soon to be brother-in-law.  Gail doesn't like to ask for help but as soon as she re-connects with Damon they decided to be roommates.  There was tension between the two but it didn't have that build up of angst before it exploded.  There chemistry between the two was good but it felt very structured and clean (coloring within the lines).  Sometimes with great chemistry it is like coloring outside the lines to feel the angst and passion.

As for Damon he likes a challenge and to him Gail feels like the ultimate challenge. However, between his three jobs and his dreams it causes his lines truths to get blurred.  The idea of Damon was good but sometimes his POV came across to feminine to me, which caused me to lose some of his manly man edge.

Once their drama comes to a head if it wasn't for Abby I may have had to throat punch Gail if she didn't get her head out of her ass but thankfully she did. Phew! And then they get their HEA or we hope they do but I assume we get to read more about them from in future books in this series.  I am curious enough though that when I have a spare reading moment I would like to read the series as a whole and I have a sneaky suspicion that I will like Gail and Damon more with doing that.

Again the story was super sweet and I adored the idea of it but I just wanted some more 'oomph' from it, for me to have loved it.  I know I'm most likely in a minority with this opinion but that is the beauty of an opinion that everyone is entitled to one. :)

If ever there were a hug in a book i think this one is it! I will admit that this is the first boo i have read by Alicia Rae and I understand that it forms part of the Beautiful Series but in all honesty it still makes for a really amazing sweet read and I didn't feel too out of it for not having read the other four books!

Gail is our leading lady and she meets our leading man Damon when she is forced to let our her spare room after having her hours cut back at work. I really loved Gail and her devotion to her family that necessitates her taking on Damon as her roommate really warmed me to her from the beginning. Her love life has been far from satisfactory and although she has been surrounded by hot men for a lot of her career, Mr Right just hasn't made a permanent appearance in her life and more than that her heart has been broken once too many times! She can hold her own and is an independent lady about town but its going to take a special man to break down her defences and make her fall in love!

Damon is attracted to Gail and finds himself in a position where he wants to help her as well as show her that she is worthy of being loved. I really warmed to him and was rooting for him for the entire book.

As with most love stories though there are a few obstacles in the way and as the defences Gail has built up are slowly removed, you are left reeling when Damon gets the opportunity of a lifetime and is all of a sudden torn as to what to do. I won't say any more but needless to say you are left wanting things to work out and there are a few bumps and hiccups along the way and some issues to be resolved for them!

I also enjoyed Alicia's writing style and I do prefer the dual POV in which this is written. I think it embellishes the story and leaves you with a much more complete picture of the situations and I also loved being inside Damon's head too!

Add to the storyline additional characters (most of who I suspect you will know from the previous books in the series) and a huge dose of HOT and what you get is a lovely book that you will not be disappointed you read!

Will definitely be reading more from Alicia and also off to download the previous books in this series too!

My Review:

This is my first Alicia Rae novel, when I look at her backlist – I realize I am a late bloomer. What a sweet and steamy story! I will gladly read more of her work if they are all like this. A Beautiful Thought is a comfortable and easy read, and a steamy love story – yay – no complaints from me! I want a boyfriend like Damon, he is thoughtful, multi-talented, funny, supportive, smart, educated, gentle, generous, handsome, ripped, and caring. Can someone let me know where they make those?

I received this book for an honest review. This is the 5 book in the series. This is first book I have read of this author. This book is a standalone although it is part of the series. This is one of those books that is so sweet and wonderful that you just feel yourself melting into the story. Gail is the sweet girl next door the kind that is always there for her family and friends. Damon is her best friends finances brother. This was absolutely the most wonderful and sweet book that I have read in awhile.
This book will suck you in and leave you smiling!!!

A Beautiful Thought is the fifth book in Alicia Rae's Beautiful series, and I have loved every single book so far. I have been anxiously awaiting this one because I absolutely loved Damon right from the start. Seeing him through the previous books really drew me to his character and I have wanted to get to know him better and see him get his HEA. This book was every bit as good as the rest of the books in this series, and I always end each book feeling happy. Alicia Rae is a fantastic writer, and I adore her characters. This book can be read as a standalone and you do not need to have read the previous books, but I would highly recommend reading them all because they are so good and it is really great to see how the characters are all connected.

When Gail's hours at work are cut back, it becomes hard for her to fulfill her financial commitments while also helping her parents provide for her autistic sister. Gail's best friend Abbey comes up with a great solution to help her lessen the financial strain. Abbey suggests that Gail ask Abbey's fiance's brother Damon to move in as a roommate and help her split the bills. Damon has just started a business with Kyle and Jason, and is looking for a place temporarily while he decides if he should relocate permanently. Damon and Gail are attracted to each other from the first moment that they meet, and both are unsure how living together will work. But they decide to give it a try. Soon they are getting to know one another better and are finding it hard to avoid the connection and attraction between them. They decide to see what is between them, and before long are falling for one another. But with Damon still not decided on if he will live there permanently and with the possibility of a job on the other side of the country, the future of their relationship is uncertain. Damon and Gail will have to make the choice of if their future together is worth making a sacrifice in his career, or is it possible to figure out a way to have it all?

I really loved Damon. He has been great from the beginning of this series, and I really loved his relationship with his brothers and his cousin Lily. But it was really nice to see a whole other side to him in this book, and to finally get to know him better. He was sweet and thoughtful, and I really liked how great he was with Gail and her family. He seemed to be interested in her from the start and didn't have a ton of commitment issues which I really enjoyed. He was open to meeting her family and helping them in any way that he could, even when Gail tried to fight him on it. I also really liked Gail. She was so dedicated to her family and those that she loved, and she was willing to do whatever it took to help them out. She worked so hard, and she didn't ask for anything in return. She also didn't feel like helping those around her was an obligation, and it made me like her so much more because she genuinely just wanted to help despite getting nothing back. I liked seeing her open up to Damon, and give him a chance after having been hurt in the past. It was really nice to see her take the risk because of her feelings and the connection between them. I thought that they had great chemistry, and they also were just a really great match for each other.

Overall, I really loved this book. I think that this series is a must read, and I would definitely start at the beginning even though it isn't necessary. To me, these books are ones that pretty much anyone can relate to and I think it is because of the fantastic characters. Alicia Rae has a way of bringing these unique and deep characters to life and making them likable and extremely personable. I love her writing style, and each book I have read of hers is always well written. I do think that this book had the relationship develop a bit quickly, but honestly it still felt real to me. I could see the attraction between Gail and Damon, but I also felt like they were developing a strong emotional bond as well. If you haven't read this series yet, you are definitely missing out. I can't wait to read more from Alicia Rae in the future, and look forward to seeing what she writes next!

***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

A Beautiful Thought is the fifth book in the ‘Beautiful’ series by Alicia Rae and is Gail Bennett best friend of Kyle’s sister Abby and Damon Johnson, Lily’s cousin.

Gail has always put others first and before her own, she is kindhearted, is fiercely independent, and it’s that independent side, that means she never ask for help even when she needs it. A string of a bad relationship means that her walls are up; she is now guarded with her heart and finds it hard to trust men, and let them get too close for fear of more heartache. Therefore, it’s going to be one special man who is going to be the one who can break down her walls, to get her to open up and trust again.

New roommate Damon Johnson could be that man. Loss of hours at work means that Gail has reluctantly agreed to get a one as a way to help her financially, so that has could still help her parents pay for her sister education. Damon likes Gail, there is something about her, he wants her, but most of all he just wants to help in any way he can, and showed her that she doesn’t need to be afraid to accept help.

I enjoyed the storyline; told from Gail and Damon’s pov. It was a sweet sexy, steamy romantic read, about trust, hope, and taking a chance. I really like Gail, and I could connect, and so I understood some of her insecurities. Whist she has that tough exterior, there vulnerability about her that I could relate to. I loved Damon, and the way he was with Gail, and the little things he did to show her that she deserves, and worth more, and not all men are assholes.

Gail and Damon are a hot sexy couple with great chemistry and love how Alicia Rea steams up the pages in this one. I like that it's not insta love, but it was a case of when you know you know. There is definitely a mutual attraction, and emotional bond between Gail and Damon and I like the way things developed.

Overall, I really enjoyed A Beautiful Thought and as expected it was a well-written and well-paced story. A perfect easy read for a Sunday afternoon, and one that when left me with a smile on my face. Love how the previous main charters are woven into the story, always nice to know what is happening in their lives.

If you’ re looking for a romance series that is sexy, steamy, low on the drama and angst with likable characters, about family, friendship, and when the men are always sexy then I recommended that you add the Beautiful’ series to your TRB list as that is what Alicia Rea know how to write about, and always delivers. I'm looking forward the next book “A Beautiful Purpose” which I have a feeling is going to be Blake and Audrey story.

In that moment, it was as though something unexplained had come alive inside me…and I wanted nothing more than to wrap my arms around her, and take care of her.

“I don’t know how to handle the feeling you invoke within me. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before”

“You can’t hide the look in your eyes when you gaze into mine or the way I make you feel when we are standing close to each other”

“I never have that reaction to a woman before…. There was something about her, and I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was”

“I don’t know what this is, but I want to find out”

“Let me prove to you that I’m worth the chance”

Full review on afterdarkbooklovers.com.

Although this is book 5 of the Beautiful series, I would consider this a standalone. This being the first book I've read from this author, I wasn't lost in not having read the previous books in the series. Sure, there were probably some spoilers as to who ended up with who, but the author provides enough background on each character that I didn't feel like I was missing too much.

Initially, I wasn't sure how to feel about the main heroine, Gail Bennett. She's a good person, no doubt about that, but it was almost to a fault. She was so focused on others, specifically her family, that she hid a lot of her struggles, rather than ask for help. Her perceptive friend, Abbey Madison, the only one who knew about Gail's financial struggles, offers an olive branch. A very beefy, hot, olive branch, in the form of her brother-in-law, Damon Johnson.

This guy Damon was all kinds of perfect. There were the obvious things you look for in a BBF: gorgeous, aggressive (in the good kind of way), smart, successful, and a generous lover. But it’s how he treated Gail and those around him that will seal the deal. Especially how he is with kids, Gail’s sister, Charlotte, and his brother’s daughter, Pearl. *SWOOOOOOON*

Gail apparently went thru some crash and burn relationships and was very guarded. And I was a bit worried.

“I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. I’m different, Gail.” He lowered his head until his lips were barely above mine. “Let me prove to you that I’m worth the chance.”

Yes, Gail, give Mr. Perfect a chance.

One thing I loved about this story, was that going in, I thought it would be a long drawn out courting, a series of heated looks with little to no action to drive that lust into action. Thankfully I was very wrong. Gail fights Damon's advances, once. Then it is game on. Like WHAM! Or more like WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM!

A groan left his throat as his palm came to my neck, pulling my lips closer. He took my mouth and kissed me deeply. His kiss rocked me back on my heels, and I grasped him like a lifeline, matching his passion as I kissed him back with equal fervor. Sparks ignited within every part of me.

Other than the sexy times, this book had a sweet message. This is the second book I've read in the past two weeks that included a child with autism. And just like the other book, it was nice to see a family put their priorities in the right place. The support from their friends was an added bonus, and provided some very touching moments that give you hope.

Overall, this book is a light read, not heavy on the angst. My biggest concern was around the 90% when I was worried if the story would end up in a cliffhanger. There seemed to be a lot of loose ends, but the author tied them up nicely. It wasn't too rushed, and there was NO cliffhanger. Phew!

Side Note: Kristen Proby’s book Loving Cara gets a SO. I love when authors include other authors in their books – the indie book community is great!

This was a sweet and enjoyable book. The story of Gail and Damon is a story full of love, learning to trust and the fun sweetness of a new relationship. Gail is an incredible character. I enjoyed watching her stand on her own two feet when things were a bit rough and how she persevered through the curve balls that life continued to throw at her. Her career was important to her. She worked hard to get to where she could support herself and help her family. Her determination and courage was fantastic. Watching her process through situations and press on was encouraging. Damon was instrumental in healing her heart from past relationships and seeing what it could be like. I feel like there was a bit of insta-love at the beginning but as the time progressed, it was well paced, with just the right amount of sweet and sexy. Watching Damon and Gail fall in love was so beautiful. They had their ups and downs, yet learning to communicate with each other, they pushed through and fell into something deep and lasting. I loved how the story showed their relationship in times of fun, silliness, hurt, anger, and chaos. It was so well rounded!
My favorite aspect about this story as a whole is the focus and importance of family. So often in books today, there is a horrible family life that a heroine or hero must overcome, yet that common theme is not found in this story. It was refreshing. Gail’s family was fantastic. Her mom and dad were so kind and her sweet sister, Caroline, was adorable. For Gail, sacrificing anything for her family would never be and had never been an issue. She gave freely to support them and love them in whatever way was necessary. Most of her worries and anxiety came from her wanting to be able to do more and support her family financially in a way that would allow her little sister to have a full and rich life, where she could bloom into a beautiful woman and nothing was denied to her based on her prognosis or financial constraints. Damon’s relationship with his brother, cousin and family was sweet and so fun! Seeing the interaction with his brother was hilarious and heartfelt. Their banter was full of teasing and a true camaraderie. Watching Damon interact with his mother was sweet. I feel like the way that both Damon and Gail were loved by their family and friends allowed them to have a relationship that was safe and healthy. It set a foundation that allowed them to be strong, caring, and open with their lives, despite Gail’s woundings from past romantic relationships.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I read it in one sitting. I found myself smiling and chuckling out loud so often. Gail and Damon’s tale is full of love and laughter. Make sure to check this story out! This book is a fabulous read.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: http://bookbriefs.net**A Beautiful Thought is the 5th book in the beautiful series, but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read any of the other books in the series yet, and I was not lost or confused at all while reading A Beautiful Thought. I think it  is a testament to a good writer when they can write books that really standalone but also work as part of a series. It would be really easy to throw some carry over from previous storylines and confuse new readers, but Alicia Rae did a great job of keeping mentions relevant to this book and anything that wasn't was fully explained. She made it easy to just pick up this book before reading any of the others. I kind of got a glimpse of who the couples were from a couple of the previous books, and now I want to read Lily's story.

Gail is such a kind hearted individual. She is so giving to other people, and I loved the close bond that she had with her family. I loved watching her with Lily's daughter as well as with her younger sister Caroline. It is so admirable what she was doing for her. I really liked that Damon appreciated Gail's heart as well. I really liked Gail and Damon as individuals as well as together. I do, however, wish there was a little more build up between the two of them before they jumped into a semi-relationship. Gail needs a roommate because of some financial pressures in her life and Damon is looking for an apartment. Lily throws the two of them together in a bit of matchmaking. And pretty much right after they start living together, they act on their attraction. It was a bit of insta love. That was my only hold back with this story. I wanted a slower buildup, but once I got over that they were involved early on, their story was really sweet.

There are plenty of roadblocks thrown in their path to keep the story interesting. I thought that A Beautiful Thought was a kind of typical adult contemporary romance, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. The dual narrative point of view really worked for this story, and allowed the readers to get to know both Damon and Gail very well. If you are a fan of contemporary romances, check out any book in the Beautiful Series. I would suggest starting with Gail or Lily's story. This review was originally posted on Book Briefs

You will like Gail – heck I like Gail than I did Lily. If you think Lily was amazing (just like I did), wait until you meet this responsible, family-oriented and independent lady. She’s easy to love, no wonder it didn’t take Damon long enough to fall for her.

She’s a physical sports therapist with a passion for her work, and for her loved ones. Problem is, no one seemed to appreciate her worth as she has been left brokenhearted a lot of times. When her work suddenly made a dramatic term, meaning, her work times were cut off just as when she needed money the most, she closed her eyes and followed her best friend’s advice to get a roomie. And that’s none other than the delectable, Damon. The person she tries to avoid ever since she had laid her eyes on him. There was danger written all over him.

Damon is a talented, and industrious young man who goes after what he wants, and gets it. From the first moment he set his eyes on Gail, he can already feel gravity pulling them together. He saw how she worked hard, and will do anything to help her in any way he can. But first, he needed to break all the walls that Gail had built around her heart.

Just as when everything seems perfect, and Gail starts to break down her barriers, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity knocks for Damon. Now, he’s torn. Would he be willing to leave everything behind for his dreams? Or would he give up his dreams and be with the people who completes him?

We got to know Damon more, and get to love him as we did Kyle. I’m so happy to see familiar characters, and get to see that they are living their happy endings. As for these two, they were meant to be together, they got good heads on their shoulders and big hearts, they just needed to work on some of their issues, but nevertheless, they were soooo perfect for each other.

It’s SHORT, HOT, ROMANTIC and a great read! It’s perfect for a late-night reading, I finished this book in one sitting alone. This book might be short but a wonderful addition to the series. I look forward for more of Alicia Rae’s books!

This is my first time in reading this author with this being the fifth book in this series this was what I consider to also be a stand alone-easily followed. I met two wonderful characters in here that will be the prominent ones with also others from the previous books that were also entered into this story to support Gail and Damon. Gail has a big heart that will also though give her more weight at times with life than she can realistically support. As a physical therapist as her career with the reasons revealed quite clearly in novel she finds herself in a tight spot when her hours are cut. Her friend Abbey makes a suggestion to her dilemma by getting a roommate with none other then her fiance's brother Damon. He is looking for a place to stay until he decides if this is actually the place for him while he works with Jason and the business end of things. Knowing he was easy on the eyes and having had a warm thought or two about him did not help ease the situation one bit. After her sister's birthday get together decision will be made to go forth with it and meet him first to see if this crazy suggestion could actually work after all. Damon working on his dreams, achieving his goals is a man after any woman's heart with his head on his shoulders and heart of gold himself plus hubba hubba to look at. Great basis for a novel to get a reader's attention to venture forth to see where these two and this venture will take you. You are given insights into relatable situations between all concerned that has you party also to a building relationship that quickly goes from roommates to something other. Flow carries you along quite nicely with fuel to the flames that at times will find your fan a going too. Even though hurdles are thrown to deal with you take those with these two easily that has you enjoying every minute. “I was not about to set myself up for failure again…I would never say those three little heartfelt words to a man again.”—Gail

Gail’s determined to help her parents with paying tuition to her autistic sister’s school. There’s nothing she won’t do—even if that means getting a roommate to spread her paychecks farther. But when it comes to gorgeous Damon, her best friend’s future brother-in-law, Gail has to rethink her no more relationships rule, especially since Damon’s pretty sure he’s found the one…

“Let me prove to you that I’m worth the chance.”—Damon

This book’s a sweet romantic read with some parts that felt slow. Luckily, there are still some fun parts and a fantastic ending that I loved. It took me a while to get into the story. The beginning felt more like a narration and summary so it was hard to get immersed at the start and connect to Gail. I had an easier time connecting with Damon and enjoying his view-point (we have alternating first person POV although mostly with Gail).

I couldn’t understand Gail’s reasoning for not getting into a relationship with Damon. It seemed like weak and unnecessary conflict, especially in hindsight. Later conflicts—like relocating for an unexpected dream job—did make sense since it’s something many couples have to face. On one hand, Damon could have handled that conflict better before it escalated. On the other hand, if he hadn’t, then we probably wouldn’t have gotten that lovely ending!

The chemistry between these two are smoking, and we get some high-heat romance scenes while they try to figure out where they stand with each other. We’ve got one person fighting against the possibility of her failed relationship history repeating itself and another fighting for what he wants. Overall, this is a 3 out of 5 for me!

You know when you read an Alicia Rae Book it feels like coming home. If you have been reading The Beautiful Series By Alicia Rae, then you will be familiar with the characters. This is a book you can easily relax into and get lost in, not minding the few hours it will read to get through it. It plays out in your mind like a movie in bright colours. This is the kind of book, that when you have finished and put it down, you sigh and just sit. And everything in the world is right.

A Beautiful Thought centers around Gail Bennett, who is hard working women. She is taking on as many hours as she can at work to help her parents pay for her autistic sister's new school. The school costs a lot of money, and Gail is trying to help out her family as much as she can.
When the clinic she works at suddenly cuts back on her hours (due to keeping themselves afloat) Gail panics. She doesn't want to tell her parents she can no longer help pay for her sister. They sacrifice enough even with her help.
Gail's best friend comes up with a brilliant plan. Her future brother in law has just moved to town and is looking for a place to live. She suggests Gail take own a roommate to help with expenses. Gail reluctantly agrees.
Damon Johnson, has caught Gail's eye since the first moment they met at a party. Now Gail is going to be living with him. Damon is the perfect guy. Smart, hard working and a gentleman. Everything Gail could want in a man. Damon is equally attracted to Gail. It is one of the reasons he agrees to move in with her.
Damon has his own stuff going on as well. Like where he will be permanently living. He really wants his dream job in Boston. It is something he has wanted since college. This could be his chance. He is not sure if he wants to move so far away from family.

I thought Gail and Damon's story was fantastic. They were sweet and cute and then hot and steamy. Damon won me over right away. He seems like the perfect gentleman and then a total alpha in the bedroom. It was the perfect combination.
This book was the perfect book to read by the pool and caught swept away in.
I have no read the other books in this series, but now I will have to. I love types of books like this. Low drama and a good love story!

Another great Beautiful story. Gail Bennett a sports physical therapist has had her share of heartaches. She helps her parents financially with her sisters education and medical expenses. Both her parents work but really cant afford the best for Caroline, who has Autism.
Gail loves her job and her boss, but her boss has been forced to cut back some of Gails hours at work and this is going to hurt her financially. How can she afford to keep helping her parents and pay her own bills. Gail has lunch with Abbey and she suggests taking on a roommate to help out with her rent. And Abbey has the just the right person. Damon Johnson.
Damon is Jason's brother and Lily's cousin who has moved to town to join business with Kyle and Jason. Damon is looking for a place to live. And this would be perfect for Gail. But will it? "But Damon and I don't even know each other. Wouldn't that be totally awkward?"So Abbey talks to Damon and explains Gails situation and hes ready to to test it out.
Gail and Damon have dinner and both feel the connection between each other. But Gail has her heart guarded. She knows the how fast Abbey fell in love with Jason but can this be true for her? Damon bends over backwards to help Gail with anything and everything. Even when it comes to her sister Caroline.
Is Gail ready to do away with the walls she has put around her heart? Can Damon convince her that falling in love so fast is probable?
I gave this 5 stars for the story goes on from Kyle and Lily and love seems to spread to everyone that is close to them. I loved Gail and Damons story. Its really touches your heart.

Total 5 Stars for this book and if I could give more I would. Gail, is an easygoing, hard worker, that puts her family and friends above herself all the time. She runs into some hard times and decides that she is going to need to take on a roommate at the suggestion of her best friend Abbey. Well, Abbey suggests her fiancé's brother Damon who is perfect for the position of roommate. He is from Colorado and not sure if things will work out in California and he also aspires for a job in Boston. He takes Gail up on the roommate offer and then the sparks begin to fly.
They become a lot more than roommates and end up being boyfriend/girlfriend and he fits in perfect with her family and she with his. They have so many enduring scenes in this book but I will say my favorite is the fishing scene and the start of "Naked Sunday".
Damon has a lot of job opportunities come in way back in Denver, the Boston job and also the one he has been doing in California and they have to really look at where they are in their relationship as to what to do. I won't give it away, but I was happy when I read what was going to happen.
The sex scenes in this book are hot, but I will also say they are very loving. You can feel the love they have for each other while reading this book and I love that kind of book. At the end of the book all I could reflect upon was that dreams do come true. Thank you for such and awesome story Alicia, it was a absolute joy to read.

A Beautiful Thought is book 5 of the Beautiful Series, yet it can be read as a standalone.

Gail is a physical therapist that has always worked hard. She is caring and kind and has always wanted to help everyone, especially family. When she receives some bad news from the job she loves, Gail worries she won’t be able to give her sister the help she needs. One lunch with her crazy best friend Abbey, may be the answer to her financial problems. A roommate would help Gail, but not just any roommate would do. Damon, a handsome rugged architect, moves from Colorado to California, and is on the fence about staying around. Will these two succumb to their attraction? Or will trust and dreams get in their way?

I was whisked away in this lovely, sweet story. Gail and Damon couldn’t be more perfect for each other. They undergo real life problems. Gail is consumed with worry just because if things went sour with Damon, she would be in the same financial predicament. Not that the roommate situation was keeping their love glued together. I just loved how caring and loving Damon was. And how strong willed and independent Gail could be.

Romantic readers that enjoy a beautiful HEA will love this well written book. Oh and let’s not forget lovable characters as well! 4 smooches for A Beautiful Thought by Alicia Rae

Hot Single Male rooms with Sexy Single Female equals a beautiful romance! Alicia Rae has a knack for weaving romantic stories with well defined characters. And her fifth book in the Beautiful Series, a Beautiful Thought is no different. In this sweet story she brings together two independent spirits destined to forge a forever together.
Gail is a strong young woman, who's selfless dedication to her family drives her independence. As a teen, she experienced obstacles in which she had to work hard to overcome. Now as a young woman, her current obstacle is to open her heart for love, a much more difficult feature to accomplish. You see, Gail's heart was broken time and time again by men she thought cared for her, therefore she closed off her heart to finding new love. Out of the blue, Gail finds herself in a financial bind desperately in need of assistance. Luckily for her, that assistance is wrapped in the sexy hard body of Damon. Although they are attracted to one another, it's Damon that makes the first move. Only, things don't move on smoothly from there. No this couple will have to go through several incidents before they realize they should share a life together.
Happy Reading!!!

Imagine yourself curled up in your comfiest chair, you're all content, you're snuggled and happy. This is the feeling that this book will leave you with. A Beautiful Thought is a beautiful, gentle paced romance that oozes old time romanticism mixed with today's eroticism.

I really enjoyed my time with Gail and Damon. Gail is the sweet girl next door that always has her heart in the right place and put's others before herself. Damon is that boy next door, that hunk that ensnares the minute your eyes collide and that feeling of being home. Both of them are not without their problems as we watch as they both learn to be together and all that that entails. Not saying that this didn't have it storm clouds skidding across, because it did, but even those storms were dealt with gently. No stringing them out, no building them up to be more than they were.

This really was a well written gentler romance and like I say it is erotic, Damon and Gail's heat factor will definitely sate all those wanting highly charged bedroom scenes. I received a copy of A Beautiful Thought in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are 100% honest.

Gail and Damon's relationship was very like Jason's and Abbie's. Again this book was basically the same type of people with different problems. Extremely kindhearted. These books are really light. Unlike other books which have a lot of drama. These books have a climax which gets resolved extremely quickly due to understanding and compromise.
In this book it was because of Damon's indecision about his job which caused him to hide it from Gail. I loved seeing how supportive the entire family is of each other and how their lives have interwoven so much. It wa just filled with so much love and acceptance. Blake when he returned had probably got a shock because the two sides had interwoven so convincingly. We got introduced to a new person in this book who was the first person in all these characters to have grown up without love from family. I know its her story next with the other brother Blake who is fighting so many demons as well.
I love how Alicia Rae at the end of each book puts a teaser to the start of the next book. She has done that with every single book. She is a talented author and I can't wait to read more books by her in the future.

I rated A Beautiful Thought with four leaves. This book is the 5th in a series and I couldn't tell at all being that I read it as a stand alone. I love the fact that this book can be read either way.

Gail, who is the main character, is a sports trainer that works crazy hours to support herself and also help support her family. When the office she works for has to cut back her hours, she looks for any options she can do to save money. This is where Damon comes in. Damon is a mutual friend of Gail's that she has met once before and thought was extremely attractive. When the opportunity presents itself, Damon wants to help out Gail and he moves in with her.

At this point in the story, there are two options... Gail and Damon will fall madly in love or end up hating each other because they are living together without knowing one another. This definitely kept me on my toes while I figured out which way they were going to go. With a few set backs, this story did not disappoint. I recommend checking this one out!

Love the cover and I loved this book. Gail and Damon have a hot relationship, "he gently tossed me onto his bed and crawled over me. I snuck my bare feet into the waistband of his gray lounging pants and boxers and tugged them down. His firm length jutted forward. "And what's that?" I queried." Damon he has proper etiquette when it comes to his and Gail's relationship, "boyfriends and girlfriends are supposed to share showers," he said with a wolfish grin. he began stripping off his clothes. "So, quit being selfish," he added jokingly." Sometimes Damon has to have a firm hand with his girl when it comes to his feelings because Gail just sometimes overthinks things, "understand this, Gail." I looked directly into her eyes. "You are in my bed because I want you to be, not because it's convenient since we are roommates." Our girl can be a little temptress and playful, "I winked at him and gently pinched his a** before walking off. "Careful there," he threatened good-naturedly. "Or I'll veto those plans of yours." I really loved this book.

I love Alicia Rae and her Beautiful Series! I can not get enough of her characters or stories. This book is no different and let me tell you before I even start that I can't wait for the next book in her series. Blake! Now back to this wonderful book. Gail and Damon!

I loved Damon and his brothers from before. While we didn't get to see too much of Gail we meet her a few times through Abbey. We really get to meet and understand Gail this read. She is one of those characters we all love. While she personally has not had too much trouble in her past her family has. She is strong and has a heart of gold. Damon on the other hand we know quite a bit about. So his past isn't brought up much. Instead we get to see his heart of gold as he falls for Gail and her family.

A truly beautiful read that I couldn't put down and couldn't stop gushing over after I finished. I will say it again... I love this series and I CAN'T wait for the next book!

I have enjoyed this authors work since reading Beautiful Chances and I was looking forward to reading this book, number 5 in the Beautiful series. It can, however, be read as a standalone book.

Gail is extremely family orientated, everything she does is for her family. That is a trait which has to be admired. Finding herself in a desperate situation she is persuaded to take on a housemate.

Cue Damon! The hottie of the story. He is a hard worker, determined to succeed, and falls for Gail almost immediately.

The pair try to ignore the feelings developing, but that can't go on forever, can it? This leads to some hot scenes.

But, as in real life, circumstances conspire to put obstacles up which seem to be unbreakable. Gail isn't one to trust easily, so what happens when she finds out Damon is hiding things from her?

This was a good story, I enjoyed reading it, and feel it is a good addition to the series.

Gail takes her friend's advice and lets Damon move into her place to help with expenses when her hours are cut at work. Damon isn't sure that he is going to stay in town for good, so staying with Gail gives him the opportunity to check things out and make a decision. Things quickly heat up between the roommates as they spend so much time together. And I mean scorching hot. A bump in the hallway one morning leads to a feel it in the pit of your stomach kiss that rocks their world. Damon is ready to pursue a relationship, but Gail worries what could happen if things go bad between them. He woos her...and boy does he give some good woo...and everything changes. Their relationship goes way beyond the steamy into that heavy sigh made for each other forever kind of love. I so enjoyed spending time with Gail and Damon and reading their love story.

I give A Beautiful Thought 4 hearts!

A Beautiful Thought is a wonderful introduction for me to Alicia Rae’s writing. Despite this being number five in this series this story can stand apart from the others and not suffer. Gail and Damon’s personal and joint dramas are unfolded to the reader through the author’s smooth pacing. Gail is the summarisation of the best big sister that I think anyone could wish for, she goes over and beyond in what she will do for her little sister, Caroline. Damon is just the icing on the cake to this touching story of sacrifices people are willing to make for the sake of their loved ones. I look forward to starting the rest of the books in this series. Normally in a series like this, things starts to get sour or things seems to repeat it self but well done on this one Alicia Rae. I cant seem to get enough, and I am so exited to start with Blake I can hardly wait.

But back to Damon and Gail's story - I had so many butterflies in this book it was just one of those feel good books and the story had me in awe ... The way that Gail loves her sister (Caroline)and the way she talks to her is just amazing and had me in tears. The way that Damon communicates with Caroline who doesn't take good to strange persons but they just clicked was so sweet.

There were a lot of amazing moments and I loved it all.
