"Beyond a Darkened Sky:" An almost poetic fantasy novel

Rumors of a long-past love; hints, whispers, stretching across planes of existence few feel and still fewer experience. It seemed a new world dawned for Dr. Sara Forrester. Sara didn’t know how or why but she visited a new world as she lay in a coma. It was a world of the Soltari, an ancient race that protected the universe. It was a world of elves. It was a world of spirits. The world was Ardan, located on a parallel plane to Earth.

“Beyond a Darkened Sky” is author Dana Alexander’s introduction to her Three Keys series. It is a fascinating story, depicting a woman in New York who, unbeknownst to her, is actually a long-living and powerful being enmeshed in a fantastical bid between the forces of good and evil. She soon finds herself on a fantastical journey to uncover three mystic keys, and she is joined by a being as old as she is. And since Sara has been left void of all memories regarding her previous life, she has no i ...more

It doesn't take long for this book to grab a reader by the hand and drag them into the adventure, perhaps because in the initial chapters, everything in the plot is so murky and uncertain. I hate to dismiss a book before I understand where the author was heading, so I pushed on and before I realized it, I was devouring the story. Alexander is a clever storyteller, revealing snippets here and there that make it impossible to stop reading, because you want to see how Tab E fits into Slot F, so to ...more

The Three Keys Series seems like it will be a truly epic adventure; that much is obvious right off the bat. Not only is the premise vast and sweeping, but it manages not to seem completely ridiculous. The writing is mature, and takes itself seriously, and the depth of planning and outlining of the story makes it seem like a fleshed out concept supported by skilled prose. If you looked at the bare bones outline of the story, it sounds a bit wild, but once you're immersed in the characters and the ...more

Follow The Quest Of The Three Keys - A Journey You Won’t Soon Forget!

“Don’t lose it. Just hang on. If there’s a way in, there’s got to be a way out. The tears dropped one by one down my cheek, dampening my shirt in dotted patches. Was I really on the verge of falling over the fragile line that divided sanity from insanity?”

When dreams meet reality psychiatrist Dr Sara Forrester wonders if she’s reached the cusp between sanity and insanity. However, she soon finds out the Soltari, an ancient spir

Dana Alexander’s, “Beyond a Darkened Sky,” is a mix between science fiction and some fantasy styled plot with the always-present love interest. The way Alexander incorporates Sara and Kevin’s romantic involvement with repressed memories is a unique concept that doesn’t make their love a monotonous and overtaking aspect of the story. The quest for the three hidden ancient keys is not overtaken, but rather flows together with the tension of the past relationship that Sara and Kevin had together. T ...more

The premise of this story is quite exciting. Basically, the main character ends up in a coma and collides with her dream world. She’s given a “chosen one” type of mission that starts things off with a bang. I really enjoyed the story behind her journey and am looking forward to seeing how far the author takes it.
I don’t want to leave behind any spoilers because I think it’s a book that you should check out if you love adventures or even stories with multiple dimensions. The writing moves quickly

This book is exciting. It revolves around a woman that has a very important job to do but she doesn’t know what it is. The book opens with her wandering around a strange place where everyone seems to know her but she doesn’t remember anything. Along the way, the blanks fall into place and it turns out that she was actually in a coma. When she is well again, she finds out more about what she needs to do, and starts her mission. Along the way people show up to help, including a male counterpart, w ...more

Author Dana Alexander has created an incredibly detailed and fantastic story of forever love, and the endless fight between good and evil. Beyond A Darkened Sky is a science fiction/fantasy novel, but it is also a romance and a dramatic story. No matter what genres you most enjoy, you will find elements of your favorites in this book. Main character Sara, and her timeless life and love reach out to the reader and pull at the heart strings. Even though the setting and character details are intric ...more

My review is for the trilogy, which is good. Mythology is not my fave, but I enjoyed this overall. It has magic and mystery and is not too over the top. Ms Alexander is a talented writer with good skills and imagination, creates an imaginative and compelling tale. Each book stands on its own, but are most enjoyable when read in order.

I really appreciate the copy for review!!

Prequel to the Three Keys Series, wonderfully written! This was such a great read, there was perfect balance between action and romance along with adventure, you can't go wrong with this book! I really enjoyed the plot and the characters being torn between good and evil. A fast paced read, only because it was SO good! ...more

For the first time in a long time, I've found a series with a good, long, descriptive introduction. After being involved in a bad accident, Sara learns that she is a very important part of a group that must saved the world. They have three symbols to find that will lead them to three keys. There are three more books to this series, so I assume that each book will be about the journey to and discovery of each key. Having an entire book to introduce the concept, characters, and prepare them for th ...more
Beyond the darkened sky by Dana Alexander begins as Sara awakens in a forest alone, but she feels like someone is watching her. They show themselves and partially explain who they are. She’s confused and lost as they explain to her who she is and why she’s there. Once again, science fiction is not my favorite genre and the story elements were confusing, even though the descriptions were well done, they were too deep for me. 3.5 stars.

This book starts where Sara finds herself in a forest in another world called Ardan, where she is informed that an Alliance, and the Soltari, have planned that she save our world from darkness, and the oppression of the Dark Lord Tarsamon. He has no idea what all these are, and at the end of the book, I am not sure either, but she is told she is a skilled fighter with the sword, and is given one, she has a bit of practice, then she is returned to her bed. When she wakes up, her doctor, Kevin, wi ...more

The balance between good and evil has just been shattered, opening a path for a dark lord’s demons and shadows to consume the energy found in humanity. Beyond A Darkened Sky, by Dana Alexander, is Book 1 in the Three Keys Series trilogy. I must say, this book is an excellent way to start off the series! It's strong, well written, and definitely keeps you wanting more by the end.

This is a book with a pretty interesting concept; connecting your real life to that of a dream realm. This is a struggle involved between good and evil, and there is now a path opened straight up for the dark lords demons to come and suck the life out of humanity. Psychi

Wow, Dana Alexander really took me by surprise with this one! Beyond A Darkened Sky is Book 1 in this trilogy, and the author is off to a great start. For a debut novel, this was beyond my expectations. I was sucked in from the very beginning, and not let go until I reached the last page. I am now anxiously awaiting the next one to be released, that's how good it was.

New York psychiatrist Dr. Sara Forrester finds herself in an interesting predicament. She's torn between the life she knows, and a

If you combined an all-consuming romance novel with an out of this world Sci-Fi novel, you would get Beyond A Darkened Sky by Dana Alexander.

In this prequel to the Three Keys Series, you meet psychiatrist Dr. Sara Forrester whose dreams and nightmares are actually part of her reality. In addition, her lover in a former life (which she doesn’t know), Kevin, has also been recruited by Soltari to help her retrieve three ancient keys. If she fails lives will suffer and in it a great love.
