This is a great book on animal rescue. The author kind of fell into animal rescue, and it left me thinking of how wonderful it could be if more of us could be as lucky as to fall into something as noble and needed as Sylva did. The author said this avenue was a calling and curse in her life, because sometimes it could be heart wrenching.

This was inspiring. The message I got, was that we all have a community. If animals aren't are thing, there is bound to be something that is.

I am so grateful that people like Sylva Kelegian are out there looking after our fury companions.

In Sylva Kelegian’s book, “God Spelled Backwards: The Journey of an Actress Into the World of Dog Rescue” we are given a glimpse into her personal life and, predominantly, into her journey as a rescuer of dogs. This book is well written, interesting and inspirational and the resource section at the end of the book - a listing of resources and a list of things that people should do when trying to resc

Really enjoyed this, I read it while patting my own fur baby. There was a part that had me in tears.
I think this is a great read for anyone who does not know about dog rescue as the stories aren't full on as sad as some of the stories where I have read worse in other books.
Great tips at the end for any dog lover.

A collection of the many tales Sylvia Kelegian has to share after many years of animal rescue. It is a world that widely unknown to most, which is a pity. It is a cause I wish I could donate more to, but the least I could do is share the power of these stories in the hopes that those who are curious can find out more and get involved.

Great story about a woman and her many dog rescues. I liked that part of this book was educational; the information delivery didn't at all take away from the story itself. Cried a few times which is always a sign that a book is emotionally gripping. ...more

Don't let the title keep you from reading this book, faith plays a role in Sylva ' s life but it's not a major influence on her writing . ...more

Uplifting life story. Kelegian sacrificed time, money, and emotions to save countless dogs. Even as a previous dog owner, I learned new things about working with fragile pups.

An amazing story of one woman's journey and how she found her calling and followed her heart to live a life of passion and compassion. I am truly in awe of Sylva's story and what she has done. The stories of the dogs tug at the heartstrings and I found myself engaged in each story hoping for a happy ending each time. This is real life, so not all stories ended happily, but there was always another chance for another dog to live a great life. Even the cover brings joy! Thanks for your story Sylva ...more

I'm not a dog person, but even I was fascinated by this memoir of a woman who stumbled into the loving work of rescuing dogs that were homeless, abused, or about to lose their homes due to behavior problems. Kelegian shows just how far a labor of love can go before it leads to burn-out. ...more
