I have always liked travel books, either to dream about new places or plan new trips or to reminisce about places I have been. Dorling Kindersley travel guides work well for all these purposes as they are invariably lavishly illustrated and eminently readable. Most people would be challenged to read a Rough Guide or a Lonely Planet cover to cover but that is not the case with the DK guides I have seen.

However, I do think there are advantages and disadvantages to the Top Ten series. They are certainly a handy size and contain a useful, removable plasticised map - this one has Central Copenhagen in a reasonably sized scale on one side and much more of Copenhagen in a much smaller scale on the other side. There is a lot of interesting information, with the top ten of all sorts of things from the top highlights to nightlife venues to the top ten by area.

I do think the top ten format is restrictive as I think there must be more than ten worthwhile entries for some categories whilst in others perhaps the editor is struggling to reach ten, so the top ten can possibly be something of a straight jacket. I certainly enjoyed looking through the Copenhagen guide, although for detailed planning before a trip you will need additional information on opening times, entry fees etc. as this is not in this book.

Finally, although this guide is titled 2020, where I have compared other Top Ten guides between 2019 and 2020 (although I have not seen the 2019 Copenhagen guide), the differences have been minimal. I imagine DK only do a major rewrite every few years. Overall an interesting guide, but one which probably will not contain everything you will need for your Copenhagen visit.

This little book for tourists was given to me by my Denmark Student Exchange student, who's name is Richard. He gave this book to me so i would be at least a little bit familiar with copenhagen and so i won't be totally clueless when i arrive to Copenhagen. Well i read basicaly the entired thin gwhen i had the time and it was extremely informative on the different parts of Denmark, specifically Copenhagen. Through this book i found out that most people in Denmark prefered Bikes over cars because Copenhagen is so small theres barely any need fore cars, especially in the center of Copenhagen which i along with some of my friends called "the danish broadway". Also through this book i found out about different restaurants which were unique and interesting(even though i didn't go to most of them). and i was filled in on tourists attractions like the little mermaid, christiania, and the such. I recommend this book, which was extremely useful, to anybody whose even thinking of visiting Denmark and enjoying what the Danish have to offer. Because afterall, it's wise to know about a place before going there to visit it.

Great quick reference. Bought the ebook version so I could keep it on my phone and refer back to it without the weight of carrying a book around.

As much as I love to do research online, I still prefer having all the details and a map condensed and compiled in a book.
