She sold herself to the enemy to protect her mate. He cannot save her, not without defeating an order of assassins and their horde of monsters first.
Keira finally earned her freedom from her lifelong villain, only to be snatched by the High Chancellor Titania, who sits upon Aldrin’s throne. The bargain Keira made with Titania was meant to give her dignity as a prisoner, but as the cruelties pile up, Keira realises this devious politician can find loopholes in any contract.
But two can play these games. Keira sabotages Titania from the inside, whilst hiding behind the mask of a weak, harmless human.
Aldrin’s mate is suffering in his name. His realm is breaking apart in great rifts and turning to ash. His people are dying. And he can do nothing about it. Not until he completes the Trials of the Assassins of Belladonna, enters their order and kills their leader.
It is the only way to stop them from hunting him. It is the only way he can return to gain back his mate and throne with a dark army at his back. If it doesn’t kill him first.
If Aldrin and Keira fail to win the throne, more will be lost than their lives. Every fae in their loyal band will be executed. The Spring Court will fall to ruin. The fae realm will die.
Can Aldrin and Keira descend to their inner darkness and bring civil war upon their people? Defeating this evil is not for the soft of heart, or even the good. It takes another monster.

okay, there is something wrong with me. I don't know why I couldn't get into this book. I was just so bored. The decisions the MC's made were so stupid. The trials and everything with the assassins was so underwhelming. The set backs just made the MC's seem dumb. The last few pages were interesting, I guess, but I didn't realize this series was going to be more than a trilogy and I'm already too exhausted to want another book.
That ending! 😭 you killed me with that ending! 😭 and now I have to wait until mid to late 2026!? Ugh!
Book 2, Kiera and Aldrin dealt with the war in the human realm before Kiera sacrificed herself to be a hostage to Titiana, who now rules over Aldrin’s Spring kingdom, to save her sister, mother, and niece. While the wording the bargain is tricky and prevents Kiera from escaping or harming Titiana, it also prevents Aldrin and their friends from doing the same. That won’t stop Aldrin though. He will do anything to get his mate back, including joining the deadly ranks of the Assassins of Belladonna. With more allies AND enemies gained, can Kiera and Aldrin take back their court and bring peace to their land to stop the corruption?
We get to add some more allies to our rag tag group of people this book and I just love all the different types of people around Kiera and Aldrin. And just the puzzle of finding out who’s friend and who’s foe.
There is so much action going on in this book. There’s not a moment to breath, and you’re just in this with them from start to finish.
The spice 🌶️ was written well and we had multiple scenes that was lengthy. It flowed into the story well and I love the switching between making “love” and more all out feral f***ing you get, because sometimes you need both. Plus a verrry in depth mate bond moment apart 😜
I originally went into this book thinking this was going to be a trilogy honestly. I’m glad there will be another book in this world but also sad I now have to wait so long for the next book ☹️ I still thoroughly love this series! ❤️
Kiera and Aldrich spent alot of time apart from each other but their mate bond remained strong and things were very steamy when they did get together. Felt I need to say I thought that Titania is the epitome if evil, selfish and self serving. Her ideology and the damage she inflicted on the Spring Court reminds me of a “real world leader” whose name also starts with T. I will spend the next year thinking of my own scenarios of where things will go based on the cliff hanger. This series is so good! Can’t wait for the final book.!
I’ve enjoyed this series, but this book dragged on far longer than necessary. The story felt repetitive and kept circling instead of moving forward. By the end, I was ready for it to be over, and unfortunately, it didn’t leave me interested in picking up the next book.
I don’t even know how to process the ending of this book yet. Each book has delivered to well everything i love about a great fantasy. I haven’t felt this devastated from an ending in a long time. Book 4 will not be published soon enough… i need it now lol. Highly recommend this series. The trials in this book that our FMC and MMC go through were so good. The evil characters are pure evil and sickening me when i think of how cruel they are. Lots of spice for those who love that….me i tend to skim over those chapters cause after so many books it gets repetitive 🤣. Needless to say this book had it all 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Too much happened yet nothing happened? The villains are way too cartoon-y and underdeveloped. I’m supposed to believe they’re incompetent leaders yet have all these people and resources at their disposal. Also, can’t figure out why Aldrin was ousted as a monarch by a vote and even with the vote going her way, Titania never declared herself queen? Too many things aren’t explained well and background details don’t make any sense. This could’ve been so much better with some editing and help with some finer points of the story.
Queen Kiera and Returned King Aldrin take on the evil Tatiana and her cruel son Torin. Complex plot and good battle scenes. Unfortunately Tatiana is much more cunning, and Kiera pays the penalty. There is civil war. In the end many good people die, and the dearest of friends suffer when Torin's allies retaliate. Sad. Will Kiera and Aldrin ever know peace and be able to heal the dying lands. Hate I have to wait a year for the next book. Some vanilla spice.
But, I'm tired of sex scenes. I love a good sex scene, but I'm tired of the word seed used in them. I loved the characters that are close to the main characters. Something happens to one of them that I wasn't happy about. I also think the author is a fan of Game of thrones because of certain things in the plot. I didn't like game of thrones.
I did like reading about the lands of the spring court. I love the main characters.
I loved the first two books, but I could not get into this one. I don’t know what changed. So much battle and gore in this one but the story never seemed to progress. And the MCs were so angry all the time, to the point of brutality. Just didn’t resonate with me this time and not sure that I want to continue onto the fourth book.
Lost me on this one. The first two were interesting and fun enough but this one dragged on and on and on with no real development or resolutions. Aldrin annoyed the fuck out of me I mean how is this dude the ex ruler of a land but can’t make it through a few trials without making the most ridiculous decisions known to man (fae). No wonder he was ousted from ruling…
I was not expecting that ending! Definitely broke my heart a bit! I love this whole series. And this book was the best yet. I was on my toes the whole time. I can’t wait for the next.
Great character development, and SO SPICY!!! WOW. Great battle scenes and fascinating and unpredictable story line. Can't wait for this series to continue. I'm hooked on this world!! Love the dragons and the night court and the orcs!!
I did not like the protracted endings. The sex and battle scenes seemed never ending. While I do like books that are 3-400 pages, but the constant repetition torture, sex, battles and death go on and on.
I love this series and the main characters, and was so looking forward to this book. But the excessive fighting, and political whining was frustrating.
