DNF at 23%

I don't know why I picked this up. I think I thought it was a paranormal. It has the word "Angel" in the summary so you know. Anyhow. I did not finish at 23%

The book was really interesting at first. I love a second chance novel but around the 20% mark it got a little slow. Then I realized a few things and I had to know. So I went on Goodreads and read the spoiler.

Yup. Not for me.

It never hurts to try new authors though!

2.5-2.75 only for Lex stars!

So I start by stating that I, like many other readers, have some big pet peeves that make or break a book for me. 1.) I despise love triangles, they never end well. 2.) Cheating is just wrong, period. 3.) Female leads that make me want to pull my hair out. CHEERS, this book has all 3 of my big no-no’s.

Why in the hell did I read it then? No idea why but I couldn’t stop until I had some answers. Honestly Lex Edwards alone was enough to make me push through this train-wr

***FIVE STARS!***
My amazing friend A.J. told me to read this story, and I was ecstatic to find that I already had it on my kindle. I picked it up years ago as a freebie, and I cannot believe I've have this little gem on my kindle all this time and never knew a thing about it.

This story flipped back and forth in time from Charlie's high school years to seven years later in the present, to get a feel for Charlie's and Lex's history, The buildup in their younger years to their affair was smokin' h

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this book, it was a bit long winded, it just felt like I was never going to finish it, but in saying that I flew through those pages!!

With the cheating aspect of this story I don't think alot of people will jump on this and read it (that is j

On a positive note, I LOVED this freaking book!

Where to start, where to start...

I loved the dual POV. It's always fulfilling to get both sides to a story. I wasn't sure how to feel about Lex at first. To hear Charlotte tell it, he's the devil himself. I disagree completely. He is far from perfect but not

Well honestly... I FLOVED IT! I started reading it last night at about 7pm, and thought I'd give it a couple of hours and then hit the sack... but the clock kept ticking and the %read kept going up... Just a little bit more... I'll read just a little bit more... Next thing I know is it's 3am and I'm sending love-hate messages to the author for the book hangover she's left me with.

I'm not sure when I started rooting for the main characters but it struc

Well where do I start..... First of all this is not like you're other screwed up billionaire with haunted pasts... Yada yada. This one is different and a welcome edition to this genre of book we've all come to love. While this story certainly has it's dark and emotional parts it's superbly balanced by the wit & humour of the fabulous characters. The humour is like the kind of unfiltered conversations you have with your best friend over plenty of wine. This book made me laugh out loud so many ...more

This book is AH-MAZING!!! I absolutely loved it! It is definitely so much more than just a sexy brooding CEO romance novel. Lex and Charlotte are both characters that I totally adored. I don't want to tell you very much of the story, because I think you need to experience it for yourself. It's one of those books that you need to just dive into and hold onto your seat because it will take you for one hell of a ride! Kat's writing is fantastic and she s

Into the darkness Smfh..... Fuck me!!!!

I had major issues with this book Idk why all the high reviews. Firstly imma start with the authors writting skills with wasnt all that bad but with her writting in first response and then to have scenes being repeated over and over that's what makes it a problem. It was like every scene was repeated twice whenever Charlie or Lex gave their POV. This made the book long and boring. Also with moving back it time to tell how Lex and Charlie came about. I reall

I have to say I have got to start this review with this book very nearly being a DNF…. Why? Well I absolutely abhor books that retell the POV of both leads and repeat the same scene. This happens over and over again at the start of this book. It wasn’t until about the 40% marker that it settled down a heck of a lot. I can see what the author was trying to do, but retelling of scenes is a complete no-no in my opinion, there is a way to impart feelings from both sets of characters without having t ...more

The good: I enjoyed this story. I liked the build-up of their rekindled relationship. I liked learning of their past through the flashbacks. I liked how, through other people getting involved, a breakdown in communication led to their separation. I thought the author did an excellent job with developing the main characters but also the secondary characters.

Eric!! Ohh emm geee lol. He was hilarious!! He was exactly how I imagine a gay bff would be! My wife has a gay bff and he is an Eric! Totall

Let me start by saying that this book had me up all night to see how it would play out. I was intrigued with the secrets that Charlie and Lex had. How can the love of your life be the darkness part of your existence too. This is just that story.

Charlotte (Charlie) was not supposed to fall in love with her best friend’s married brother. But she did. Not only did she fall in love with him, she saw a future with only him. He was her happy ever after. And he was hopelessly in love with her

Amazing read that has you hooked from the start. I laughed A LOT, shouted OMG and screamed FFS many times, and at the end I both hated and loved Kat T. Masen. I loved reading from both POV even though at times they did repeat each other; however I did find more often than not it was relevant so you could feel and understand how both people were truly feeling.

Lex and Charlie haven’t seen each other in 7 years. Both left heart broken, confused and lied to by those around them. Charlie is n

Okay where do I start with this.... I couldn't put it down Kat owes me sleep.

Into the darkness was such an emotional roller coaster. I have a love/hate relationship with the leading characters Charlie & Lex. One minute I'm in love with them and the next minute I want to slap them.

There was so much I loved about this story, the flashbacks into the past, the alternating point of views. I won't give anymore away because you need to experience this for yourself. There are some moments in the boo

The story is narrated in alternating POV, however both characters are speaking of the same event / scene which makes the story redundant. The speech is awful with foolish names for body parts, and things like oh-em-ggee. Urgh!!

Charlie and Lex's past is one of betrayal and great loss. Lex has been gone seven years, without a word, no explanation and he's bothered by the fact that Charlie has a life? What did he expect that she would be searching the world looking for him? She would stop living? H

Gee wiz I loved this story. I've literally just finished and I'm shouting at my kindle for ending like that. The book has got under my skin so much I'm gonna be impatient for the next book.

I so loved Charlotte and Lex. All the secondary characters were brilliant too. I love reading books about billionaire CEOs but sometimes when you read too many they can be very samey. This was not the case with this book. The storyline was unique and I really enjoyed it.

I had to read this book in smallish doses cause I found myself getting frustrated and annoyed with Charlie. Here she was engaged to the guy who made her love again...... and he seems to be a bloody great guy too. Then in walks Alex, the guy who broke her all those years ago and he's decided she will be his again and all of a sudden she's jumping his bones.....while her great fiance has no idea. I really felt for Julian. And surprise surprise, she ends up broken again!! Can't wait to read the seq ...more

This book had one hell of a story , and a very hot and most importantly unique male protagonist. But the repetition in the dual point was kind of boring and it made the book so long . And don't even get me started on that cliffhanger .

Where do I start? There's a lot going on in this book and I loved it. So much history and complexity because the two people who were in love about 7 years ago had a fall out that left them both broken and now skeptical about love itself such that they are not the same today. First off, Charlotte, or Charlie, is introduced as a successful lawyer in NYC. She has a good life and now a gorgeous man named Julian is enamored with her. After a long hibernation of dead feelings towards men, Charlie is w ...more

I've had this book sitting and waiting for me to be read for quite some time (it is embarrassing how long). I wasn't sure how I would feel about it going in as cheating is something I am very against. However, that is not the point of this story at all. I enjoyed the dual POV as it really let me connect with the main characters. I understood the intensity of their reactions and emotions that much more by being able to get into their head and heart. That being said, there were times where it was ...more

What I Loved: First off whoa (picture Joey Lawrence on Blossom while saying whoa). So I am a huge fan of these types of books, where the billionaire playboy falls in love with the clumsy standard girl and there are just constant ups and downs as the series goes on. This series falls into this category beautifully, but Kat T. Masen has managed to do what many authors cannot, which is put a different spin on the typical story by giv
