⇒ This prequel picks up when Mason Kade is 16 year old and explains the dynamic at home, between his brother, as well as his role at school. Mason had to grow up fast as his home life was falling apart due to his parent's were divorcing and his dad constantly having a revolving door of females to cheat on his mother on in/out the house. Lastly, this book further explains why Kate and Tate hated Sam when she entered into both Mason and Logan's life.
This prequel is told in his POV where he presents being closed off, angry, protective of those he loves (e.g., Nate and Logan), and has a strained relationship with his father. My biggest issue with him was how he treated females. For Mason, females are just a conquest, nothing more. He treated Kate like crap and was cocky about how easy it is for him to get females.![]()
I loved him in this book, truly. It makes sense why he was the way he was due to Tate screwing him over. When he cared for someone, Logan gives them his all and Tate hurt him so much for what she did. I mean yeah it was a stereotypical situation that he got screwed over by the "love of his life" then in turns becomes a man whore. But I still liked him.
First off, the coincidental rhythm did not go unnoticed for this prequel. lol These girls are the basic mean girls that feel entitle to the popular guys and will stop at nothing to get them. That being said, no wondered they felt threatened by Sam when she became close with the boys.
