This book was a freebie from amazon, I had nothing to lose but my time. And boy did I lose my time.
Heroine was engaged when she finds her fiancé screwing her own cousin. I liked how She reacted, she pulled her cousins hair and kicked her out along with him. She breaks her engagement and kicks him out of the house.
She meets the most amazing hottest man ever. You know how that goes, she has an ONS with him and that turns into something else. Hero pursued her, she was reluctant.
Hero also comes with big baggage. In form of an ex wife, he has a daughter with her.
The ex wife is a drugged and alcoholic witch. I realize that this author doesn’t know how to write OWs without them turning them into catty bitches.
Anyway a custody fight ensued for their daughter.
Hero becomes a jerk after the heroine called her ex to offer some compassion after him and her cousin lost their baby, oh did I forget to say that her ex got her cousin pregnant? Oops my bad.
Ok, well her ex has been very present in the book with wanting the heroine back. She was stupid calling him to say how sorry she was that they lost their baby because that gave him the excuse of still going after her asking her for another chance. That’s when hero breaks things with the heroine because he thinks she wants her ex back and he doesn’t have time for her since he’s in a custody battle. She runs after him pleading and begging him to listen to her, the woman who kicked her ex out and the woman who pulled her cousin’s hair, threw her ex clothes out on the grass was nowhere to be found. She became pathetic and a doormat.
She goes out with her bestie and she goes to his apartment after he was very suspicious when they talked on the phone she finds his ex almost naked and him coming out of his room with only sweat pants on, so it’s obvious she thinks he had sex with his ex. She breaks things up. He tells her that his ex meant nothing but why? He hasn’t cheated, has he? Why tell her that?

Wait... let’s back it up, back to when the heroine and hero had their first ONS. She had sex with him without any protection. Being on birth control pills doesn’t mean it’ll protect you from a std! So if you guess that she gets pregnant then ding ding you guess right! So she decides against telling him that she’s pregnant. She went to appointments, had sonograms and even heard the bay heartbeat and hero missed all that because of her pettiness. Hero made a mistake but she had no right to hide her pregnancy from him. Everyone blames the hero because he’s not there for her pregnancy. Uh no this is all on the heroine because she became a drama queen and a martyr
She almost lost the baby and still didn’t tell the hero about the pregnancy.
Instead of talking to the hero and letting him explain why his ex wife was there in the first place. Once he explained i was even on his side. He couldn’t turn her away because she was dirty from sleeping in the street. She’s the mother of his child so he owed her that much. The heroine should’ve understand that he was trying to help the mother of his child. Heroine was so insecure even of her own damn shadow. After all she even told the hero that she was going to become a jealous and clingy person after her ex had done her wrong. She was feeling sorry for herself after she stopped getting, notes, roses, phone calls and texts messages from hero.

I was and the key word here is was on hero’s side until he took a date to their friend’s birthday. He kissed this woman once. Poor Carrie was dropped like hot potato because hero found out in this party that heroine was pregnant not by her own mouth but by their friend’s lose mouth.

Anyway this was just drama upon drama and more drama.

Well what can I say this author is known for loving her drama.

Safety: Not safe since hero kisses and went on two dates with poor Carrie!
Run Carrie run, believe me you’ll be better off!

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
=============
It started well and then went downhill.

After I got my food I couldn’t stomach it. I found Wes slow dancing on the floor with his date and I suddenly felt like crying. I needed some air and quick.

I learned his date’s name was Carrie and apparently this was their second date. She actually worked in the office at their construction company. How sweet.

I looked into his eyes. “You put this insecure feeling in me. You shouldn’t have lied about Sarah. Then you dated someone else after we broke up.” I paused. “I just want to go home, Wes…please.”

It takes time for Sam to trust anyone after what her fiancé did. When Wes comes into her life she is very attracted to him but her trust issues make it a rocky road but they do get a HEA!

After finding her fiancé in a less than appropriate situation with her own cousin, Sam realizes that she just may give up on love. That was until she met Wes. He could be her downfall. She was all he wanted, he was what she was afraid of. So begins the love story of Wes and Sam. Now it isn't all pretty. Throw in a couple of jealous exes, an infuriating mother and some really great friends and you have a wild ride. I loved that Tony (the idiot ex-fiancé) was always making appearances throughout the book. He really couldn't take a hint could he? I was a bit pissed off at Wes when he wouldn't let Sam explain herself out of a certain innocent situation. I even hated him a bit when he showed up to the birthday party with a date! Really Wes, you're better than that!! I started feeling a bit like Sam deserved better than even Wes could offer but in the end I was wrong. They both deserved happiness and they found it in each other.
I was given a copy by the author for an honest review. There was just enough angst and plenty of steaminess to keep me glued to each page. This is definitely worth a read.

ARC received in return for honest review.

Heartbreaking, compelling and romantic. How I loved this book. One to read for anyone who likes there romance novels to come with a side serving of heartache.

Samantha is excitedly looking forward to her wedding to Tony in a week, until she walks in on him getting jiggy with her cousin on their kitchen table. She is understandably devastated and relies on her best friend Allison and her husband Mitch to help her through this tough time. After months of anguish and anger, Samantha is set up with the amazingly gorgeous and sexy Wes with whom she embarks on a one night stand. But can this compelling man break down Samantha's walls of insecurity and create something amazing.

Samantha is one of most realistic characters that I have come across in a while and I found I could immediately relate and empathise with. Due to her cheating ex she has become insecure and jealous and I found myself cheering for her at the same time as wanting to give her a good shake. Her fiery and stubborn traits were a nice change to the many placid and passive female heroines that I have found myself reading about in the last few years.

Wes! Hot, gorgeous and sexy, but sweet, loyal and romantic too. He is determined to win Samantha round but recognises that it will be a hard task. I found that his dedication to his 4 year old daughter (from his previous marriage) gave him an interesting edge when compared to the trend of alpha males out there at the moment.

Sam and Wes have trials, tribulations and misunderstandings along their way and I found myself struggling to put the kindle down as i was desperate to know what their outcome would be. Between Samantha's despicable and persistent ex, her horrifically challenging mother and Wes' junkie ex wife, the couple certainly have a fight on their hands. But it's a fight worth following.

Harms creates great, realistic characters who develop throughout the novel. The plot has been well thought out and I found myself on an emotional ride along with the characters.

Why 4.5 stars and not 5? Tiny, small pet peeve. When embarking on a one night stand, a condom was not discussed!

Great author who I will be downloading more novels by.

My rating: 3 stars.

What I liked: I liked how Samantha(h) handle her ex especially when she grabbed her cousin by her hair (I wished she would of did the same to Wes’s(H) ex). I really liked the side character, Mitch and Allison, and if they have a book I will definitely read it.

What I didn’t like: I wanted to know why Wes lied to Samantha over the phone instead of just telling her the truth about his ex being at his apartment if it truly was innocent. Samantha even says if it truly was what he said it was why would he lie and of course this was never really explained (yes he apologized for not being honest but that was it). Also, again why didn’t he tell Samantha about seeing the ow at the bar (and for him who said he was in love with her should not be showing up with ow especially knowing she will be there) Lastly, he had no right to get mad when she doesn’t say yes when he asks her to marry him (doesn’t he remember that he lost her trust???)

How hot was it: 3 out of 5

Triggers: Ex drama for both H and h. h is engaged to om when she catches him cheating on her with her cousin. She later meets H and start dating. H has a daughter with ow who is an addict. When h is out with her friend, H’s ex shows up at his apartment in bad shape and he let’s her get a shower and wear h’s clothes. h calls him and he lies to her and says he is going to bed early. h decides to go to his apartment and the ex opens the door and h sees H coming out wet with just pants on. They break up for about a month and a half. h finds out she is pregnant and when she is at her friends party sees H show up with a date. We find out that he only went on two dates and kissed her once. During all this h’s ex causes problems because he wants her back.

Final thoughts: The whole time reading this book I felt like I read it before, but besides that this was an ok read. I really wished that it was explained why he lied, that part bothered me.

This book does have some sexual scenes so it may not be for everyone. I did love the story Samantha thought she had it all. She worked as a physical therapist at a job she loved. She had a great boyfriend, Tony, of four years and a year ago they got engaged. It was only a few days before the wedding so Sam worked half a day. She stopped a the store to get some groceries to make Tony a wonderful supper. When she got home she noticed Tony's truck in the driveway. She thought great he came home early because he never did. When she walked in all she heard were grunts and moans as she seen Tony doing her cousin, Heather , on their kitchen table. She grabbed her by the hair and threw her out, then she approached Tony who was getting dressed. She ask how long and he said about the last month. She threw him out and got Allison and Mitch, her best friend and husband, to come change the locks. She threw all of Tonys stuff out in the yard before she allowed herself to cry and fall apart. She had to cancel her wedding and all the things that were planned. She cancelled his half of the honeymoon and went away herself. when she came back Tony kept trying to get back with her and she wanted nothing to do with him. She also found out he had done some of the girls in the office also. Weeks later her friend ask her to go out with them. She did. They introduced her to Wes Craven. She found him very attractive. This is really their story. Neither of them trust the other, but they are drawn together. You will love this story. A good read

Well I had to give up on this one. This was a cringe fest I'm sorry to say. The cheating was brutal and in your face. She does get a new H, but I have no desire to read on for the angst that is promised. The intimate scenes were cringy at best. He licks his lip, and she bites her lower lip so much that both are going to need lip balm stat. It's just not worth it at this point. Sorry

What could make my week better ?? Having to read 2 CA HArms books for a blog tour !!

Once again I am here delivering a 5 star review. I apologize for rambling and/or gushing but I do not know how else to get my point across !! There are many real life situations in this book. Some may seem a little too easy but others really take their toll. I enjoyed every minute of it. I felt sick , I felt heartache , I felt joy , I felt extremely turned on and hot !! Again CA really knows how to add a bit of everything perfect for that story to grab you and hold you !!

Right from the start you know that Tony is going to do something horrible to Sam , it is in the way his emotion is described , you can feel it and brace yourself , I was sick , I hated that part , ughhhhh even prepared I was not prepared !! Thank goodness for her bestie Alison and her hubby Mitch. They were awesome and if it was not for them who knows how long it would have taken Sam to recover. Sam was very courageous , don't get me wrong , I enjoyed her attitude and actions very much so !! After a much needed vacation Sam was able to come home and attempt to get back to normal.

Wes is a single dad and one of Mitch's good friends. He is enlisted to show Sam a good time !! Sam is open to meeting Wes and they enjoy themselves and damn they are pretty hot together !! Of course they both have these pasts that just won't leave them alone. Wes with his ex Sarah and of course for Sam not only Tony but Sam's absolute fear of relationships and lack of trust. They struggle quite a bit despite their attraction and desire to get to know one another. There are some major and minor hurdles they have to overcome before we see a ray of light. Will Sam and Wes get their happily ever after or will their pasts get the best of them ??

It is a long journey in a short amount of time. So much emotion in this story I read it so fast and loved every agonizing minute !!

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review

Sam is a week away from walking down the aisle to marry the love of her life, Tony. They've been inseparable for the past four years and can't wait to start their lives together.
Sam is an unfortunate example of someone being blinded by love… She refused to acknowledge the signs and warning bells until reality gave her a nice bitch slap.
Sam gives up on love and swears off men in fear of getting her heart broken. We've all been there, I bet. Luckily she has an amazingly relentless best friend that refuses to sit back and watch her wallow any longer.
Sooner or later she's going to have to open her heart and trust again, before it's too late.

The story itself was pretty good. I liked the character relationships and the drama. The main characters were well developed as well.
I would have given this book a higher rating if it wasn't for the lack of editing. I was confused towards the end because wrong names were used and I couldn't understand what was going on. The dialogue was a hassle to read which irritated me a bit. Instead of separating the different character's lines, they were combined in a huge paragraph. I had to start conversations over to figure out who was talking. it had a noticeable amount of grammatical errors which made it distracting. I also felt that there was a few loose ends that were never tied up at the end. Like it would mention something but never expand.

Other than that, this was a really nice story. Just a few revisions and I think it could be on a lot of reader's top TBR shelves!

***EDIT***
The author took time to go through her book after reading my review and fixed a few of the errors! Yayyy!! Changing rating to 4stars ;)

I received a free copy from the author for my honest review, so here it is. If you are looking for a great story with heartache, pain, love, laughter and HEA, then this book is for you. Sam is less than a week away from her wedding to longtime boyfriend Tony. When she returns home after the last dress fitting and finds Tony screwing her cousin, she throws them both out before the tears begin to fall. He tries to tell her he loves her and always will and it was a mistake but Sam is not buying his lies. She finds out that he has cheated more than once over the last year, since they got engaged. How do you move past this kind of heartbreak? She trows herself into her work and a physical therapist working with children and going to the gym. Her mother is on Tony's side and tries to tell Sam that she (Sam) needs to forgive Tony and move forward. What an idiot her mother is. She finally accepts going out with her best friend Alli and her husband Mitch and meets Wes. Wes is all sexy on a stick gorgeous. The begin dating, but Sam is still scared of getting hurt. There are some things that happen (I will not spoil it for you) that will make you say WTH and then you will be in tears with happiness. I have read a few other books by C.A. Harms and have loved them all, can't wait for more from her. Grab yourself a cup of tea, coffee or whatever you like and enjoy the ride with Sam, Alli, Mitch, Wes and even Tony. great book C.A.

**I received an ARC copy for my review**
After finishing Stripped I couldn’t wait to start at a new book from Cynthia. And off course this was also a great story.

From the moment you start reading you get sucked in the story and yes sometimes you will laugh or cry with this story. It was written easy and all characters where flowing in to each other.

Only 5 days to go before her wedding Sam feels great, she has a lot of nerves but what happens next will shatters all her dreams, she finds her fiancée having sex with her cousin on HER kitchen table. But Tony doesn’t leave her alone and keeps on telling her he stills loves her, after sending her flowers she decides this needs to end and goes to handle over the flowers to him and his new fling. Why did he do that and did he cheat on her with more than one? After finding the truth out drives to her best friend’s house but for some reason she can’t get out of her car.

Wes who has a crazy ex wants only one thing to take care of this four year old little angel, she is the center of his life and has only love for her. He sees Sam on that dreadful evening when she breaks down in front of Mitchel, Ali and him. He falls for her immediately and gets with help from Ali and Mitchel the chance to meet her again, but this time he’s going to get the girl and never let her go.

So don’t stand there and get yourself comfy in a chair with a lovely glass of wine and START READING this wonderfull story.

Samantha comes home to find her fiance Tony the guy she has spent the last 4 years of her life with and is suppose to marry in less than a week banging her cousin on her kitchen table. Wow, talk about a punch to the gut! Samantha drags her cousin out by the hair(awesome)and kicks Tony out of the house. I loved how she scattered his belongings all over the lawn. I can so relate. This story is about hitting bottom and trying to pull yourself up. When you have had your trust broken it's really hard to put yourself out there again. Samantha meets Wes and there is an instant attraction. Wes is hot, sweet, and kind and has his own unpleasant past. When they get together it is so hot but is that enough? I really loved this story. Anyone who has been cheated on can probably relate to this book.

I was asked to review this book by the author so here we go! This is a story about a girl Sam who gets done wrong by a man! But her two best friends Mitch and Allison who are there for her throughout everything want her to try and move on! Although it is very hard she is introduced to a guy by her 2 best friends the attraction is undeniable they have a instant chemistry that is cosmic! But it's not easy and there is many different bumps or should I say hills in the road! LOL It is a very good read I couldn't put it down! C.A. Harms out did herself. I have to say in the short time I've been reviewing her books she has quickly became one of my favorite authors.

I really loved this book. I love that it has 2 POVs where I can also see what's on each others' sides. I really enjoyed it. I love how the author brought the characters to compliment with each other.

About the story... Well, it really captured my interest. I love the story's flow. It was easy to read and to understand. And as the story goes to an end, wow..I feel like crying.. All in all, it's so worth my time reading this book.. =)

Growing up every girl dreams of her prince charming. Samantha was no different. But in her case her prince is a waste of space. Rony wouldn't know love if it slapped him in the face. I was glad with the way he was taken of.
Every woman needs an Allison in thier lives. She's Samantha's BFF. I loved her cause she's a spit fire.
But my new book boyfriend Westley Craven is every woman's dream come true.
He's a no crap taking type of man. Yes he vk lows up before he thinks but so does Sam. they are perfect together

Guarded Heart is the first story I have read from C.A. Harms. As I read the story, it held my interest! I like where the story was going and the build-up of the events.

Sam is engaged to Tony, until she just happens to come home early and catches Tony cheating on her with her cousin, Heather. I love the fact that no matter how many times her mother would nag Sam to take Tony back, she would stand up to her mother and refuse. Throughout the story, Tony is constantly trying to beg her to take him back, and she made it known to him it wasn't happening each time.

Allison, who Sam grew up with, and her husband, Mitch, are the greatest friends anyone can have. The two have been so supportive to Sam with the emotional rollercoster ride she goes through.

Mitch's friend, Wes is interested in Sam after he sees her at the driveway of Mitch and Allison's. Wes and Sam get set up on a date when they go to a club and it's instant attraction. Wes is someone that Sam can use in her life. He's a good man and pretty much opening his heart toward Sam. Only thing is, because of what happened with her previous relationship, Sam feels the need to guard her heart and would feel unsure about opening her heart again.

I enjoyed reading Guarded Heart. It was full of romance, steamy love scenes and good story line. I look forward to reading more from C.A. Harms! (I received a copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.)

Guarded Heart is a very fast paced and intense quick read. I started reading late at night and if I didn't have to be up extra early the next day I would have kept reading until I was done. The prologue sends you head first into the story and its just a non-stop ride until the very end. I really enjoy books that cut out the fluff and get right to the heart of the story, the juicy stuff that you're dying to know about. And trust me when I say there is tons of juicy stuff in this one. There's love, lust and super steamy HOT sex (not necessarily in that order), plus all kinds of drama! Who doesn't love drama?! The writing style was very catchy and the story flowed smoothly from one scene to the next, keeping me intrigued the whole time. The characters were well developed and easy to relate to, something I greatly appreciate. My only issue is that the ending wrapped up a bit too quick, leaving me with some unanswered questions. I adored the general outcome of things but I feel a little extra detail could have been put into it. However, if Ms. Harms intends to turn this into a series then the ending is absolutely perfect, it leaves off in a way that the 2nd book could easily pick right up and continue with the story. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that that's the case because I would absolutely LOVE to read more about Sam and Wes!

I was given a chance to read and review this book by the author.
This book held my interest from the first page. I love that it had different point of views. i really enjoyed it. I love how the author brought the characters to compliment with each other. It was easy to read and to understand. I was laughing, and wanting to cry through the story.

Sam and Wes are amazing characters with a lot going on in life. They find each other when they need each other the most. Life hasn't been easy for either of them but they have a great support system behind them.
Sam thought she had a great life. Until it all took a turn when she caught him.
Wes just wants to take care of his little girl. And that means the crazy ex wife also.
Their past is determine to interfere and pull them apart. But when in love, second chances can be amazing.

I loved this book and I loved the characters in it. Once I started I could not put it down. The story starts off about Sam who walks in on her fiancée cheating on her with her cousin. She kicks him out and tries to pull herself together with the the help of her best friend Allison and her boyfriend Mitch. Allison sets Sam up with Mitchs best friend Wes who is seriously hot, to get over her heartache. But it turns from a one night stand to become more, but can she trust a man in her life anymore. This was a great love story, again I was left wanting more, I didn't want the story to end. C A Harms writes about tough and real issues and makes them into compelling romance stories. I thank C A Harms for letting me review this book, it was a pleasure.

A MUST READ!! I devoured this book in less than 12hrs. Loved Wes.....definitely has all the requirements for a favorite book boyfriend!!

Sam & Wes's story had me happy, frustrated, laughing, hot (as in steamy), & even crying. I was so in to the characters that they were being played out in my mind like a movie. I definitely did not want their story to end. The supporting characters Allison & Mitch were great too.....real best friends portrayed as they should be.

I really can't say enough about this story. You will not be disappointed in this stand alone novel by C.A. Harms. Go out and buy yourself a copy right now so you're not missing out!! Do it!!

Thanks Ms. Harms for allowing me to read this story in exchange for an honest review.

Samantha finds her fiancé in a compromising position less than a week before their wedding. After throwing him out she tries to put her life back, but finds putting her heart on the line again very hard to do after all she's been through.
Wes sees Sam first when she's at her friends house devastated by how things have turned out for her. He's instantly falls for her and when he finally gets his chance with her sparks fly. However both of their pasts threaten to tear them apart. Can they trust each other and work through everything to have their happily ever after?
Great story about heartache and healing and allowing someone back in. Definitely a great read!

Let me start off by saying. I think I just found a new author I'm marking down as one of my favorites! I absolutely loved this book! While reading this I felt so bad for Sam because it seemed like she just kept getting hurt let and right by her crazy ex fiancé. Then comes Wes, oh man did I fall in love with him! (I think his is my new book boyfriend (:) I loved that he was so caring and loving! I don't know what all to say without giving to much away so I think I'll stop there. I will say that this is a MUST READ, and I will be putting this on my "to be read again" pile! Loved, loved, loved it!!

This is the second book by C.A. Harms I have read. I have to admit from start to finish I didn't want to stop reading. No cliffhangers, story is complete, HEA included. Love the angst with not only the hero (Wes) and heroin (Samantha) but other family members and characters. It seems as though someone was pulling from both sides, Sam's mother and both exes. Sam finds her ex banging her cousin on her kitchen table. Wes's ex is a drug addict. Both of them kept trying to return to the scene of the crime. The story flowed and was totally fulfilling. C.A. Harms is a gifted writer and storyteller. Will be looking forward to more works from her. Don't miss out on this book.

I enjoyed this book. The lead character Sam is having to deal with a lot and honestly I dont know how diff I would react. It is a bit predictable which Im ok with. but I loooove Wes. A lot of drama going on in this book and it seems a bit over the top. i liked the characters. overall it kept my attention and I enjoyed it. great soap opera novel :) and lets face it soaps are awesome cause there is constant drama! sorry normally I write long reviews but im on my phone and goodreads usually likes to shut down on me. thx for a great read!

**Provided Copy for Honest Review**

I really enjoyed this book. It had all the elements that you want to read about: heartbreak, someone finding themselves, strong friendships and undying love. I love how the author provided two POV's (always love this!) and showed all the heartbreak/love going on with Wes and Sam. The book really hooks you in and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the HEA and the fact that it is a complete book, no cliffhanger! I would highly recommend reading this book!!
