This book is classic in every sense: recipes, design, writing and photographs. It's a book to study and practice from, as Lorenza carefully explains the history/origination of pasta, how to make and buy both dry and fresh pasta. It also explains how to make a variety of pasta dishes from scratch, from the most basic sauces through to more exotic dishes (fettuccine tart with veal sauce - making the pastry from scratch as well as the fettuccine).

Lovely book, great recipes and photographs.
I could quite happily eat pasta and nothing else if I had these from which to chose.
I was lucky in that I bought this from a charity bookshop in mint condition for £2-99, list £19-99.
Prior to that I had bought her Renaissance of Italian Cooking from a second hand shop in again mint, for £9-99, list £20.
If you see them at under £10 I would thoroughly recommend both. I would guess if they are still in print they are probably £25 +

This is the ultimate pasta cookbook. Most of the recipes highlight a single flavor and so are beautifully simple.
