The Fool's Path: A Tale from the Lothemian Legacy

Rate this book
Set in the medieval kingdom of Lothemia during the turbulent thirteenth century, The Fool's Path is the story of the great friendship between two knights, Sebastian and Raynar, and of the woman loved by one but wed to the other. Sebastian, heir to the duchy of Westfeld, is forced to choose between two either ambush and imprison the unsuspecting duke of Gildren or suffer Raynar to languish in the dungeons of Eaglesheid. Sebastian chooses to free his friend, but the sordid bargain plagues his conscience. Attempting to right this wrong, he then walks step-by-step into a mire of conflicting passions and loyalties, and unwittingly sets himself up as a pawn in a greater game in which the prize is the throne itself. As Sebastian struggles to save the kingdom from treachery, the kitchenmaid, Ella, brings forth a golden key which will unlock the secrets of her birth... and threaten the future of Sebastian's dynasty. This haunting tale of betrayal, grace, and enduring friendship not only begins the saga of an extraordinary family, but unravels the tangled threads of fiction and fact to reveal the truth behind the beloved fairy tale-Cinderella.

A quick read. The plot was intriguing, I started to reading it to figure out what story it was redone, it took me the whole book to figure out. It wasn't a favorite or the best written ever, but I guess I enjoyed it for the few days it took me to read it.
