If you take Shanna and put it in Far West ambiance, this would be the result! LOL

Callie remnded me of Shanna so very much with her stubborness and how she treated Jackson! She was such a brat! So stupid sometimes, and I hate stupid heroines, but you could just see that she had something deep down that made her likable (by me!). Maybe I appreciated her being in charge and working like a man, or it could be that she didn't waste time with ladylike appearance and didn't mind at all what the society
Cindy Nord has done it again! I love this second book even more then her first. We all fell in love with Reece in No Greater Glory, but wait until you meet his spunky sister Callie and Jackson, the man Reece sells his half of the ranch to.

Partners or enemies? Is Callie so independent she doesn't need or want a handsome partner at the ranch or is there a hidden fear of getting hurt again? Is it that hurt that makes her such a hellion? Can Jackson tame her fear as he does with horses?

This is an awesome love story! A man who won't give up on the woman he loves but can't throw away responsibilities that would separate them. A man strong enough let a strong woman show her strength and strong enough to rescue her from dangerous situations. A man any woman could love! ...more

Opposites attract!
What an excellent western historical romance is WITH OPEN ARMS! Cindy Nord's second book in her series The Cutterridge Family, was so captivating and fun to read! A real page turner! It's the story of Callie and Jackson, two beautiful souls who will share trust and learn the art of compromise! Ms. Nord is truly a talented storyteller; I love her style of writing because her words were flowing on the pages, I could not put it down.

Cindy Nord’s book, With Open Arms, is the story of Reece Cutteridge’s sister, Callie Cutteridge. She has been running the family horse ranch, Dos Caballos, in the Arizona Territory since her brother left to fight in the Civil War. Then, unexpectedly, she is presented with new partner, Jackson Neale.

“Without removing his gaze, he reached into his frock coat. With the speed of a striking rattlesnake, an envelope appeared in his leather-gloved hand, then rose between them until level with her eye
Leone (She Reads too Much Romance)
I've never been a fan of western romances novels. Movies yes, but not books. In fact until now I have never discovered one that I actually liked…let alone enjoyed. It may seem harsh, but I find the genre overly done with constant repeated plots. So when I was looking for something new and different to read I thought I would give With Open Arms a try just to see if anything had changed.

Maybe it is the historical aspect of this novel that made me enjoy it as much as I have or maybe it's the fact t

Once again Cindy Nord sucks you into romance and provides a history lesson to boot. Awaiting #3 book of the Cutteridge series.

Loved it

Great story of two people who are as different as night and day, or so they thought. Jackson is one Jack of a guy--Military hero, honest, and great looking. Callie is about as far from the kinda woman he has been interested in, in the past, as you can get. She wears denims, not dresses! She is far from sweet and soft as you can get. She gets under his skin at every turn. But their love story is a great one, a little spicy, but one I am glad I read!

With Open Arms!

I first discovered Cindy Nordin and her wonderful books when one of my friends recommended her first book, No Greater Glory, which I loved. I loved this one just as much. This has a wonderful storyline, written with a lot of passion and wonderful characters that played their parts well. Along with the well researched history of the times, this book took me on a wonderful adventure to a HEA. Just opened up the next book, An Unlikely Hero. Sexual Content. JudyE

Great book! Easy to read! Really enjoyed everything from the characters, the setting, the storyline. It was great! I would encourage this book to anyone who loves a historical romance.

I enjoyed this book!

Go ahead and get get this book. You won’t regret it. It’s so much fun reading this story! Thoroughly enjoyed it! It is also stand alone if you didn’t read the first one in the series.
2-1/2 stars

I do enjoy Nord's writing but in this case, I did not see how the two main characters fell in love since they barely interacted.

I started reading With Open Arms almost immediately after having finished No Greater Glory. I was on such a high from that read that I was giddy with anticipation. While With Open Arms wasn’t quite as good, for me at least, it was still a very solid read and I can’t wait to read more from Ms Nord.

This tale follows Callie and Jackson. We met Jackson in book one where he had a supporting role and he provide

With Open Arms by Cindy Nord is filled with passion, danger and one 'hellion' of a heroine. Callie shares ownership of the family ranch with her brother, Reece. To her horror, Reece has sold his half of the ranch to Jackson Neale, an honorable man who served beneath Reece in the Civil War. When Jackson shows up to claim his half of the ranch, Callie is anything but the friendly, caring woman Reece promised her to be. The sparks and the mistrust sizzle between Callie and Jackson from the moment t ...more

Callie Cutteridge is as hardened as they come. She runs her own ranch in southern Arizona Territory while fending off Apache and staying one step ahead of what the tough terrain throws at her. But her carefully controlled world comes crashing down when Jackson Neale arrives. A former cavalry officer during the Civil War, he now owns half the ranch thanks to Callie’s brother. He’s looking for a fresh start after the severity of the war and the ranch is everything he hoped for and more. He doesn’t ...more

Loved this second book from Cindy Nord. In the first book, No Greater Glory, I discovered an excellent, evocative writer that blended history and romance seamlessly. This book is just as good, but in different ways. I was a little less involved in the characters, but I think that Cindy's writing is actually stronger than before! All good historical writers do their research. Cindy is known for her depth of knowledge about American history. Sometimes writers include details that feel like they ar ...more

Filled with banter and tension from the two main characters

I do believe I enjoyed this more than No Greater Glory. This one had much more banter and tension in it as well which perhaps made it better to me. I could just sit there and see Jackson smoking his cheroot with that cheeky grin saluting with his whiskey glass. I loved how he and Callie always got under each other's skins and how hello bent she was on not wanting him to stay on at her family ranch. Everyone at the ranch warmed up to Jack

Not having read No Greater Glory I can't compare the two. All I know is that I loved this one. Jackson comes to claim his part of the ranch that Callie's brother has sold him. So now him and Callie are partners something she is having nothing to do with. Having lost her family in an Indian raid she is not letting herself get close to anyone or anyone tell her what to do. She is one hard woman and is used to doing things her way. Jackson was led to believe she was a soft and pliable young woman. ...more

I really liked Jackson, who we met in the first book of the series, but I just couldn't connect with Callie at all. She acted like a bratty, angry shrew for most of the book. I understand that she apparently dealt with the loss of her parents by hardening herself and surrounding herself with anger, but she just treated Jackson so poorly, even after she got to know him better. I just couldn't relate.

The descriptions in the book, however, were amazing. I felt like I was standing right there in th

Wonderful story! Exciting, adventurous, full of romance, and grit. Great main and secondary characters. I feel like a book needs great secondary characters to enhance the main characters. Callie is tough as nails, full of sass, and gumption; Jackson is ever efficient, full of handsome, polish and swagger, and when the two meet it's almost war! This book is everything and more than what I expect out of a good western story. I have enjoyed reading these first two books of The Cutteridge Family ser ...more
