I have read two other Natasha Preston books before they are Silence and Broken Silence and both where equally emotional and made you think deeply about the situations the characters are in. Save Me is no exception,from the very start you are literally catapulted into a deeply upsetting and emotional situation that no-one would ever wish to experience.The way the first couple of chapters are written are heart wrenching and suck you straight into the tale of Tegan, Lucas and Kai. I do not want to give you all the details as the blurb here is more than enough, but it will also ruin the story for you. The journey we take with Tegan is one of discovery and acceptance of life when it is outside of our control.
Tegan is a character that i loved reading and i felt like i really understood why she acted the way she did, even though it caused her to hurt others and herself, sometimes time and the right people are the only way to work through such emotional situations she has had to deal with. Lucas had the best intentions in the world but to me as a reader Kai may be the 'bad boy' and the path of mischief but he was the true hero of the story. I felt the despair Tegan was going through at the turning point in the story concerning her recovery and i loved the final few chapters as we see who she has become and her life now. This book was a great book to review and at times i did feel like i had been through the emotional ringer but all for a reason and it stayed with you long after you shut the book for the night, or in my case in the car before i go and start work for the day. I longed to get back to it each night after work and continue reading the story. Natasha Preston is a writer who throws all the emotions you can think of into a book from hurt,love,sadness,despair and romance, she can also write some extremely hot scenes as well as the tender moments between the characters especially Kai and Tegan.Hearst and flowers this story is not, but it is so tender and raw that you will most certainly enjoy the story i feel.

The writing is naive and the plot is simple. I did really enjoy the romance, it was the only thing that propelled me through to the end. The dialogue is unrealistic and ruins the experience. Not a huge fan of this author.

This is my first book by Natasha Preston and it will defiantly not be my last, she has found a new fan in me for sure.
Save me is a tale of Love, Pain, Heartbreak, Depression, Second Chances, Finding redemption and ultimately a beautiful journey of true love, self discovery, and acceptance.
PLOT
After losing the one person she is closest to Tegan goes on a downward spiral very fast with no likely way back anytime soon. Her Family is at a lost of what to do to help her.
Tegan gets from bad to worse.....enter two very different men on a mission to try and help her heal from the wounds she refuses to face.
Her Journey is a painful one with shocking devastating lows and a few uplifting, heartwarming highs. Her Family also goes on their own search for healing and trying to forge anew path in life.
The premise of the book is a really good one and that situation could happen to pretty much anyone who has lost someone close to them. Anyone who picks up this book can walk right into Tegan's shoes and experience all her ups and down through her eyes and feel her struggle.
CHARACTERS
Kai~ Oh My Lord I loved him from the get go. Sexy, Funny, Charming, Intriguing with a massive heart and a caring soul. His journey with Tegan began just a few weeks after her fathers funeral on one of her many drunken nights out he was the ninth in her one-night stands and part of her new self-destructive behavior. They clicked and he saw something in her that he recognized and an unlikely friendship / no strings attached relation ship begun which might I add is extremely HOT.
Kai presents as they typical bad boy with his tattoos and ripped jeans but he is nothing but a sweetheart with a dirty mind and mouth.
He felt something for Tegan but because he was once in her shoes but only much worse so he recognized she was in no state to start a relationship. I have to say I admire him for playing the waiting game,
I was team Kai from the start and I rooted for him to win her heart and get the girl in the end.
I loved their friendship and how it developed into something magnificent.
Will Tegan see what is right in front of her?
Will Kai ever confess his true feelings for Tegan before its too late?
Tegan~ Petite blonde bombshell with a feisty personality and sad green eyes. After the death of her Father she completely losses it, the once sweet innocent caring young girl is long gone , now replaced by a hardened exterior and a bitch persona. Drink and sex is her way to escape the pain of losing her father and that drives a wedge between her and her family. She pushes them all away and isolate herself, preferring to numb rather than deal with the pain.
Drowning in her sorrows, will Tegan be able to pull herself above water?
Has she succeeded in driving her family away forever?
Will she ever be able to get over her fathers death and move on with her life?
Lucas~I was surprised somewhat when he popped up and pretty much backed Tegan into a relationship with him......the girl is broken the last thing she needs is a relationship. Even a blind person could see that but, in the end I get why he felt the need to act upon his feelings her her.
So Lucas is the son of a heart patient that happens to have received a heart from non other than Tegan now deceased father so yeah a little messy and unconventional.
Lucas is a Handsome, Caring and genuinely a nice guy, he has an instating attraction to Tegan and once he sees just how much she is struggling he really wants to help her. And you have to like him for that, she was a mess but he saw beyond that.
Can a relationship born from tragedy survive the deadly waters of grieve and Tegan's self destructive behavior?
SEXY FACTOR
**Fans Self** Hell yes there was plenty Of Sex in this book to keep even a horny bunny satisfied.
Kai and Tegan's hook up are just smocking, detailed and well written. there two have a great sexual chemistry. And just to clear things up just in-case there are any confusion. Once Tegan started seeing Lucas she ended her sexual relationship with Kai but her became her best friend, spending time together whenever they can.
Tegan and Lucas physical relationship is more toned down but still Hot.
The sex is written very well and not repetitive each scene had something different and new, I enjoyed every single one especially that bike scene in the woods....oh and the Tent.....by the lake. well I liked it a lot.
SUMMERY
Over all a very well rounded book, that is very well written with a heartfelt plot and down to earth characters that are relateble and very much likable.
The flow is good I loved that the book is written from all three POV's it allowed a much deeper connection to the characters and understanding.
I took off one star because somewhere along the way I lost a bit of connect to the story and characters, for a few chapters but apart from that I do not have a bad word to say about Save Me.
If you are looking for a book that has it all a heartfelt, plot and great characters with two hot guys and real pain that bleed from the pages then this book is for you.
Give it a shot it might just surprise you, the way it did me.

I've always loved Natasha Preston's writing, since reading Silence I've read multiple books of hers hoping she'd never dissapoint and so far she hasn't this one here is no exception, it's brilliant. The story line is tough but it touches and displays a very sensitive subject in a delicate way a way that makes it relate-able to you, you feel the heartbreak, the pain the loss and well the love.
Tegan is the main character in this story that it's focused on, it shows how she deals with grief maybe not in a functional or healthy way but in her own way and that takes us as the reader on a truly inspiring journey. For those of us who have lost someone close to us this story is touching because it shows so much on not only one persons story but a families story of loss and the different ways both healthy and unhealthy ways of dealing with grief, with loss. I loved the relationship with Kai that she shared, that is started off so casual but quickly became such a lifeline to her without her even seeing it. I loved Kai was towards her, playful being there when she needed him but not forcing her into things she wasn't ready for just in the background ready to catch her if she ever fell being there to walk beside her on the tough days and laugh with her on the good and I think it made him a great character that he'd been where she was and he had some kind of understanding of the blackness she experienced and he was the only one really seeing her.
The characters in the story were relatable and they definitely progressed and developed throughout the story but so did the story the more you read the more you understood it was like unwinding a ball of wool to find out where the beginning was. Another great read from Natasha Preston but I'm not surprised her writing is captivating and I'm proud to say I've been captured by the Natasha Preston bug.

For me I couldn't resist this any longer so I had to re-read it and I have to say it didn't lose anything for me. It was still tear-filled, raw and emotionally charged, I still loved all the characters.
Tegan as any teenager would struggled massively with her grief over her dad dying, she didn't know how to deal with how to keep going every day and she went into self destruct mode, doing that she felt ashamed of the way she was dealing with it and felt ashamed for what she deemed wasn't coping.
Kai, well he was a horny funny guy who had overcome his own self destruction and was still struggling to find his feet a little, he met Tegan and saw himself in what she was but he didn't get hung up on trying to fix her he wanted to make her pain less and make her see herself how he saw her so he played the friend card well, for a long time.
Overall again I loved this book, showing the different journey through grief for everyone and showing different types of ways of coping with that journey both alone and with company.

Save me is what is says, it's about Tegan being Saved.
Tegan cared about family friends boys all the normal things teenagers are crazy about!!! Until in a tragic accident she looses her dad. She stops living, she stops caring for her sister, her mother, her friends. She starts having meaningless sex. All in order to stop feeling, stop feeling the pain, the longing,the emptiness without her dad.
This book is the story of Tegan being rescued from ruining her life, from grieving her dad, by not one but two guys. Kia, a guy from the bar; who becomes a lot more than a casual night stand. And Lucus, the son of the man who received her fathers heart.
Both guys try and save Tegan and both succeed in their own ways. But only one can have her heart. This is a love triangle that keeps you on the edge.
Well written story by Natasha. She captured the emotions of Tegans loss very well and truly made you feel every emotion. However I did feel the story dragged in the middle hence the rating. But overall it was a present book.

Love it! I cried so much for Tegan losing her father! Natasha Preston really did a good job of showing how people cope differently with the death of a loved one! So glad Tegan met someone like Kai, who knew exactly what she was going through and how to help her! #TeamKai Couldn't decide what man was going to save her in the end! Throughout the story it seemed it could go either way!! Highly recommended it's not just a love story you'll cry and laugh and cry some more!!

Wow!
Natasha Preston can write a book about an emotional topic and make it feel real. It has been a few day's since I read this book. A few days that when I think of Save Me I still feel the roller coast of emotion that I felt. I have been in a book hangover ever since.
I can't wait to get my hand's on Natasha's next book.
Save Me will be the book I go back to time and time again for a re-read.

This book is super sad and the author explains the feeling of the charters so much you can almost feel how they feel. Amazing ending and super happy with it....my favorite character is also Kai, his character has a lot of depth to him.

I read this for a prompt, and I wasn't impressed.
The storyline definitely wasn't typical for me. It had a good ending, but it just felt really drawn out and not something I would choose solely based on the plot.

It was so hard to finish this book. It was all over the place, yet still boring. I did not like the end at all. It all seemed kind of pointless.

I received an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Lately, I am reading books that I relate to a lot, which makes me have a special connection with the book and the characters—in this case with Tegan. Tegan loses her dad during her teenage years and she takes it harder than the rest of the family because she was the closest to her dad. Her way of coping through this situation is sex and alcohol. Tegan keeps drowning her sorrows in alcohol but having sex with random guys stops once she meets Kai.
I loved Kai as soon as he was introduced. He had this kind of bad-boy look to him but a complete sweetheart. He is very sweet but has such a dirty mind and I love the mixture of the two :D Lucas, on the other hand, I didn’t like. I really didn’t like him…that’s the only thing I have to say and since I didn’t like him, I won’t talk about him (sorry, not sorry).
There were times where I would get frustrated with Tegan A LOT, especially because it would feel like she was playing Kai (she wasn’t, but it’s how it felt like to me). I just wanted her with Kai throughout the whole book in a relationship, not just as friends.
I loved how Kai was ALWAYS there for Tegan when she needed someone. He cared for her deeply, more than friends and Tegan was too blind to see that. Kai was there through the roller-coaster ride she had for a life, even knowing she had a boyfriend that she “loved”. Personally, I don’t think she ever really was in love with Lucas. I believe she thought she loved him but not for real. Her true feelings were always for Kai (I’ll keep telling myself that, but it really feels that way because she is always asking for Kai when she is down or just wants to hang out with someone).
All in all, I enjoyed the story because it doesn’t only focus on her relationships—although it is a mayor part of the story—but it also focuses on family loss, how a person gets lost in a self-destructive “coping” mechanism and sometimes people turn a blind eye to that. Also, instead of helping, they cause more damage by watching the person 24/7, seeing if the person will fall back into the same destructive mechanism, which is what happened with Tegan, especially after she was taken to the hospital for…doing something that could have lead to her death (This part was personal to me. If you have read the book, you will know which part I am talking about and yes, I did went through that. And just as Tegan, I was watched all the time).
For being the FIRST story written by this author, I think she did a great job, especially voicing out these situations that Tegan is put in. I believe it would help the reader to expand their horizons to some of the knowledge that goes with learning about the problems that teens and adult go about in their lives.

My thoughts:
This is a truly heartfelt and emotional story and you can understand Tegan's pain at losing her father considering they were so very close. I think teenagers either learn to deal with the grief of losing a parent and try to move on from it as best as they can in time or the go into self destruct/recluse mode and Tegan falls into the second category and with out going into too many details as I have no intention of spoiling it for you I did find Tegan quite whiney at times but that's probably because I have two teenagers of my own so can understand how moody etc they can be, lol.
This is quite a long book but I felt it was necessary to get the full story of Tegan across and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
All the characters were very realistic and I seriously need to mention Kai.... Oh my, now that dude would be too young for me but he's HOT and if I were younger he would be my ideal guy in the way of looks and you can't help but root for him in this book, he has a lovely caring side that I adored through Save Me as well as some sizzling naughty scenes ;)
My recommendation is read Save Me, I loved it and I'm sure you would too.

I have never been so emotionally immersed into a story as much as I was with Save Me!
Right from the very first chapter, Natasha manages to take you along on a journey filled with many emotions and feelings. Posing the question of 'How far will you be willing to go to save somebody you love?' - Not only from themselves, but from the circumstances which surround them.
Tegan Pennels used to have dreams of playing the piano. A loved she shared with her father. She was the ultimate daddy's girl. But, a tragic accident tears her father from her life, leaving her feeling alone, and numb to everything and anything around her. Including her own mother and sister.
Going off of the rails is something which Tegan manages to do in epic style, and her life tumbles even further out of control...
Que the mother of all love triangles to further complicate her newly devastated life. And, oh...my..GOD was this a love triangle of epic proportions! I had to physically restrain myself from bashing and screaming at my kindle on numerous occasions throughout the story.
Firstly, there's Lucas. Lucas is the first to impact upon Tegan's newly distraught life. He's the son of Carl, the man who recieves the precious gift of life from Tegan's organ donor father. His heart. The same day of her fathers accident. Lucas and his family become an important part of the Pennels family after the tragedy which took his life yet saved another. And so begins Lucas' efforts to save the emotionally detached Tegan.
Kai...point number three to the love triangle, meets Tegan in a bar during her promiscuous rebellion, and soon joins Lucas in the plight of saving Tegan.
If you love a great triangle, an epic roller-coaster of an emotional read, and a story which grips you from A to Z then leaves you begging for so, so, sooooo much more. Then Save Me has to be your next read.
Brilliantly written, and a beautiful story. I highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

I recently read and enjoyed the novel, “Save Me” by Natasha Preston. The characters in the novel is the main character, Tegan. The other character’s name is Kai, he is Tegan’s boyfriend. The other character is Lucas, Tegan’s friend who’s father would've died if it wasn't for Tegan’s dad, who donated his heart to Lucas’s father. The book is taken place somewhere in Australia but has no specific detail.
The story is written in Tegan’s point of view, but also has a few chapters where the point of view is either Kai’s or Lucas’s. The novel starts out in a hospital, Tegan and her family is about to find out if their father survived the surgery but unfortunately for them, he didn't and Tegan is devastated and hurt because she has lost her hero. She starts drinking away her problems and not caring about anything or anyone. She spends her days going to parties, arriving home late, not caring about the rest of the world. Kai is 20 and she is only 17 and they meet at a party and he becomes the supportive good friend who does not pressure her into talking about her feeling about her father’s death. In about the climax of the story, Lucas comes around and becomes her boyfriend, and as Tegan becomes closer to Lucas, the more she realizes that life must go on, even if it hurts. Tegan gets help in the falling action of the novel, and ends up moving on and going into a good path, than to just go the wrong path and mess up her life.
When I finished the book, I liked how she ended up finally moving on and sucking up the pain after a few months her died passed, because it would've ended badly. She would've gotten into bad things and it would go all too far and she wouldn't be living a good life. My favorite part of the book was when she finally agreed to go to her dad’s grave because I liked how the author used that as a message to confront the things and finally say goodbye to someone whom you may never see again.

I previously read the "Silence" series and loved the first book but was left pretty disappointed with the second book. Nevertheless, I decided to give Preston the benefit of the doubt and try another book.
Having lost my own dad at a young age I thought I'd be able to relate to this book. Wrong.
The whole plot line/love story was just pointless. Unbelievably pointless. I struggled to even finish the book to be honest because I was that bored with what was happening.
Things would escalate quickly without much indication to the reasoning. The sequence of events often seemed erratic. I never really knew if I was coming or going with the main character. Not to mention how dramatic and irritating she was.
The whole plot seemed unbelievable; teenagers with Lamborghinis? Am I right? Recreating scenes from Tokyo drift... c'mon! Not to mention random unnecessary details added in that made the whole thing cringe worthy at best. I consider myself a romantic but if my boyfriend sang to me at a random town hall party in front of everyone we knew I'd probably buy him some tampons and tell him to grow a pair not agree to marry him.
Which leads me to my final point and the biggest issue for me. The writer always seems to try and wrap up happy endings and tie all the loose ends together in a totally unnecessary way. Everything works out. Remaining best friends with your ex and setting him up with another girl? I wouldn't do that even for someone I had an amicable split with. Not to mention she's 18 why does happily ever after have to mean marriage? Could she nae just enjoy being in a relationship like everyone else her age? Go on a nice holiday and enjoy being young?
This is probably the last book I'll reread by this author.

We meet 17 year old Tegan on one of the worst days of her life. He life is complete shatterd after some unofftunt event but there not turing back now. She has turned bitter and cold to not feel the pain of loss in her life.
She goes wild and meet some people that try to help her but she doesn't want to feel. One of them is Kai who also knows about Loss and knows what Tegan needs is a friend and time. Then she also meets Luke thru the pain of her loss he comes into her life but he wants more from her then she ready to give at the moment. Thru her story she tries to over come the hurdles of Pain and loss but with the help from Kai and Luke she thinks she cant make it but thru some events and more loss she will find her way.
I loved Tegan she young and jut wants to feel numb to all her pain. I like Kai for her but I thought he was going to be the jerk of a friend. But you get to know Kai and he just what Tegan needs. She also has Luke who you think is going to be the golden boy of the story but was I wrong. There was moment where I just wanted to Kick Luke for being no sensitive enough and kick Kai for being over sensitive to her pain.
But this is a cute story of Pain of losing some one so important to you but having people in you life that try to save you. But what they really shows you that no one can save you but your self.

Well I must say the book was a lot better then I remember, I feel that it could have been a little better. There was not a lot of Britain slang which it could have been a lot more. The book was full of emotions, never knowing what the next page was gonna bring me some of the book it was becoming to hard to read, I couldn't read faster enough due to the excitement. I giggle, cried, and even got mad at parts I really could understand how she was feeling.
Tegan's world crashed around her the day her dad die, she really just did not care about anything in her life. She had no one, the one she had was gone. Going from the good girl to the wild child in a matter of days. Will she ever heal for the wounds her father had created with his death? Will she fine love with someone was a one night stand that turned into many or will she fall in love with a man who's father get her dads heart, or will she continue down the destructive path and end it all?

I should have known by the title that this story might be a bit of a heart breaker...and it was, for me anyway!! The author has written with such intensity the detail of how a person can feel when they lose someone close to them, I could almost feel the despair and loss myself.
The story is centred around Tegan who has tragically lost her father and falls into a deep depression. She basically loses the ability to care about her life and in this downward spiral she not only hurts herself but those around her too. It seems the people close to Tegan just can't seem to save her from self destruction.
However, she has two saving graces, one by the name of Kai, who she meets at a party and the other, Lucas, who's father received Tegan's dad's heart, by organ donation.
Both Kai and Lucas are completely loveable characters and the love triangle continues throughout the book. I really was kept guessing all the way, whilst routing for one of them to finally break through and win Tegan's heart.
Can either of these loveable boys save Tegan from the blackness consuming her and save her from herself?

On the cover of the book, one sees Tegan lying on the straw folded on itself. In this book, we find Tegan, her sister Ava and her mother who are in the ER. Their father just died, the one in the life of Tegan everything will flip. She goes to live in her world, does not have anything to do with her family, her friends. What is even more disheartening is that he was an organ donor. She's going to do anything like meeting a certain Kai in a bar, losing her virginity. At the end of this book thanks to his friend Lucas she will get out. I enjoyed reading this book but nothing more.

Never in my life would I have pictured myself getting a Natasha Preston book anything less than four stars, but today I just cannot even imagine giving this more than two stars.
I think the plot had potential, but the characters were all so unlikable. I did not like the main girl, or the two guys that she was in love with. Neither of them were good for her. Lucas was just dating her because he felt bad about her dad, and her relationship w Kai was almost strictly sexual attraction, so how can that lead to marriage?
At first I was upset because I liked Lucas Moore, but then I didn’t like him because I realized his intentions, but I still didn’t like hi, so I just didn’t like either of them, and she still ended up with Kai.
Also, the writing was just so bad. Everything was so fast paced but this book was still like 400 pages long and I have no idea how Natasha Preston did that. Like I love her so much, and her other books are absolutely amazing, but this one… I don’t know if it’s because it’s like one of her first independently published books, or what but it is just not giving. It needs like five more editors on it and I don’t even know if that would help it babe.

Wow as always with a Natasha Preston book this story has a bit of everything thrown in and this story is no exception bringing you everything from loss heart break depression happiness and love rolled up into one big epic story!
The book starts with Tegan losing someone very close to her.. while still in the hospital she meets Lucas who she then wouldnt realise would become a huge part of her life.
Kai is someone Tegan meets through her self destruct stage.. hes someone she begins to rely on and trust and he becomes such a close friend to Teagan over time but they both refuse to acknowledge when things begin to change.
Im not wanting to give away spoilers for this read but there is a slight who will get the girl moment and im so thankful that the right man did in the end (well the one i thought should get her anyway)

This is my first book by Natasha Preston and I was literally blown away by her writing.I will definitely be reading more from this lady.
This is the story of Tegan a happy go lucky normal teenager and daddys girl until a tragic accident happens and she loses her father.Overcome with grief Tegan's life takes a downward spiral,she trys to numb the pain by focusing on alcohol and sex.their is two very important characters that desperately try to save tegan along the road kai(swoon) and Luke,both guys have their own way of trying to save her.will either of these guys be able to save tegan from herself?
Normally I would shy away from a book that's focused on grief and pain but Natasha Preston has a writing style that just sucks you in from the very first page.loved this book and highly recommend it

After reading With the band, I needed to read another Natasha Preston book straight away.
Save me is about Tegan, who's Dad dies in the first chapter of the book, which made for a very emotional start.
Tegan was very close to her father so her whole world has just been shattered and as her mom and sister had always been very close, she feels like she's all alone and drowning in her grief.
Tegan meets Lucas (whose Dad received her Dad's heart) and Kai who becomes a friend with benefits but can either save her from her grief.
This book made me experience a lot of different emotions including anger, frustration, happiness & confusion. For most of the book I was not sure how I hoped it would end.
I felt that Natasha dealt with loss extremely well in this book and I struggled to put it down right from the very start.

Teagan has lost her dad and basically wants to lose herself into something or someone else then she meets Kai who is her her hook from the bar.
