Wendy Owens has written another incredible story you won't want to miss. THE LUCKIEST is the third book in her Stubborn Love series and is connected to the first two books as the story of how Christian met his friend "Mac" while working as a roadie for his friend Dean's band. Although some characters overlap in this series to connect the books, each can be read as a stand-alone. However, I warn you. Once you get a taste of Wendy's writing you'll be going back for more!

Beautiful love story will make your heart fill up with joy and love!!

This is a beautiful and wonderful story. When a loved one passes away, a piece of us goes with them. This story begins with Mackenzie having lost her family and along with them she lost herself. Since the death of her husband and daughter her life stood still, her feelings froze and her connection to others disappeared. She cocooned into herself. Until, another tragedy forces her to move on, she has no choice. Sometimes, that i

I really liked this book. I did not read books one and two in the series before reading this book and found no issues diving right in to the story. This book opens with a bang leaving you with tears in your eyes, wanting to know what is going to happen next. This book was sweet, sexy, fast paced, and taught the reader a lesson about letting go and moving on after tragedy strikes.

This is the story of Mackenzie "Mac" and Dean. After losing her husband and young daughter in a car accident w

This was my first Wendy Owens book and it certainly won't be my last. This is book 3 of the Stubborn Love series but can be read as a standalone. The Luckiest sees MacKenzie Phillips having endured enough tragedy and heartbreak that would cripple most people. By 21 she's a widow and has lost her baby girl Katie.... How do you go on??? You hide away, shut yourself off and avoid the world then nothing bad can happen, no one can hurt you or leave you heartbroken. Mac copes for three years like this ...more

I received an ARC for my honest review. I have only read one other series from this author. I am pretty new to her work. But I am fast becoming a huge fan!

WOW! This story really touched me. Mac loses so much in her life and can't imagine moving on. She can't imagine ever being happy again. She is so devastated that she almost ceases to exist.

When an opportunity comes knocking on her door she decides to open it. She meets some new people and they show her that life can continue. You can be happy

Wow. This book was so amazingly adorbs that I just can't get over it!

Mac had a seriously messed up couple of years but when she gets a chance to be a personal chef for a rock band, she takes it. And she meets Dean. *fangirl sigh* Dean was the epitome of perfection and not rock and roll-ish at all. Plus, that epilogue?! I was sold.

Seriously, 5 big fat adorable stars!

lol okay, i shouldn't judge a book by a single action, but what happened there was the beginning of the steady decline in my interest. i've read halfway through, and i know how it will end, so it doesn't bother me at all that i'm not going to find out more.

The Luckiest was the the first book I’ve read by Wendy Owens, and it definitely won’t be my last. With it’s heartbreaking premise and flawed, yet extremely redeemable characters, I was fully engrossed with the world that was Dean and Mac.

After having been widowed so young, Mackenzie is emotionally out of control. Wanting nothing more than to waste her life away in the silence of her apartment doing nothing but eat. The last thing she expects t

The Luckiest was a book that I was not expecting. I was seriously blown away by this book. This is my first Wendy Owens book and I am looking forward to reading more from her really soon.

The books starts out with MacKenzie Phillips who has had a pretty sad life. Her mom dies when she was a kid. She met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart. They married right after high school and had a baby. Then she lost them both in a car accident. If that wasn't enough Mac's dad has just died as w

Wow! When I first got this book it didn't click that this was part of didn't really matter as it would have only given me a back story for one of the characters - but not a main one. So this can most definitely be read as a stand alone, though I have definitely added Ms Owens other two books from the series to my kindle to read very soon!

Losing her husband and daughter in car accident left MacKenzie depressed and lost. Being the sole survivor of the accident, she is left to pick up the pieces, overcome the depression, and try to begin living her life again. But after such a loss, how can you possibly put yourself together again? This is not the only loss she has experienced either. She lost her mother just as she was about to need her the most during puberty. Now, she has lost her father too to a massive heart attack. He was all ...more

This book hit me where I lived. Have any of you heard that saying? No?! Yes?!? Maybe?!?! Anywho I will explain. It hit me in the place where the soul of me lives. The most honest part that you don't let anyone see because it would be just too personal, but that place you go to where you are most honest with yourself. The place where you can lay all your crap bare that is where this book hit me. It made me feel things I had long since buried. I, too, at one time had lost everything that meant any ...more

Mackenzie is existing day to day after the death of her husband and young daughter. When another tragedy strikes, Mac must pick up her broken pieces and learn to survive. Existing is no longer an option. Stepping out of her cocoon, she must find a job and learn to move on. Easier said than done.

There are characters you connect with from the start, sometimes due to their circumstances mirroring your own. God willing, I pray I never have to go through the pain and hurt that Mac had to go through.

I read the blurb for this book, and once I started reading I had to go back to the blurb twice to make sure that Dean was the love interest in this book. Because Christian was pretty much the guy the focus was on for the first third of the book. Dean pretty much walked around acting like a dick and snarling at Mac and the food she made. Then he seems stunned that she's unaware that he likes her.

I felt sorry for Mac (who wouldn't), losing her husband and daughter, and was rooting for her to get h

I love it when I can rate a book five stars, it means that for some reason everything was aligned, I picked up the right book to suit the mood I was in at that time and once the read was over I was left with a feeling of total satisfaction. It doesn’t happen often enough but it did with ‘The Luckiest’.

After Mac’s young daughter and husband were killed in a car accident she stopped living, only existing. Just when she thought things couldn’t get any worse her father died which effectively

The Luckiest person ever is me for getting to read this book early. I loved every minute that I stayed up late reading this emotional story. I could feel every tragic and ever happy moment in this story. Ever emotion the characters had, I had them right along with them. When they cried, I did and when they were happy it was an exceptional feeling you couldn't help but feel it. This author really out done herself writing this storyline. For three years Mackenzie Phillips has been numb, her whole life had been ripped from her with one tragic event. After losing her father, Mackenzie finds herself at ground zero and having to pull herself up and make a life for herself. Maybe the key to it all is not thinking, it is in that moment Mackenzie applies for a job as a private chef on tour with a rock band. As frightened as she is when she gets the job, Mackenzie throws her heart into it.

You know, it’s hardly surprising, given what Mac has gone through that she ends up in the state she does. I mean, she lived through every parent or partner’s worst nightmare.

And honestly, her despair simply seems to seep off the page at the start of the book. The lack of any desire to do anything more than simply exist is practically palpable.

I have to say that Mac’s journey (normally I don’t like to use that term – it’s overused) from tubs of ice cream to the person she is at the end of the boo

The start of this book is heartbreaking! I can’t even imagine going through the type of loss Mac deals with. After years of just existing instead of living, Mac is forced to take care of herself after her dad dies. A second chance at life and loves comes along with a job as a chef for a band on tour. Dean is one of the sweetest rock stars ever! He is patient with Mac as she struggles to deal with her loss and move on, but determined to make her his.

After surviving the accident that killed her husband and daughter Mackenzie is broken. Trying to deal with her grief she closes her heart off. That is until she meets Dean. Can she let go of her guilt to embrace the future?

I love Mackenzie’s relationships with the people in her life. Especially her best friend Monica. I also enjoy watching her friendships with the members of Dean’s band grow. I love how real Mackenzie feels t

This is my first Wendy Owens book and I wish I had read her before now.
I read this book in one day, stopping only to eat and check that my kids weren't killing each other.
The Luckiest is a heart wrenching story of love, loss and learning to live again. Each character has their own issues they have to deal with, all bringing the characters closer to each other while one helps the other see their way through.
Their story will break your heart, make you cry, and atleast in my case, I under

This is not one of those cookie cutter, codependant romances. Mackenzie doesn't start out too well. She has lost everything. The prologue has me in tears and sets the stage for what is to come next. She is so lost. When circumstances force her to live again, she finds herself with purpose. She meets Dean and the romance begins. She soon discovers she had lost herself in him and finds it unhealthy. She makes life decisions that put her on a different course. A course of self discovery.

I received this book for an honest review. Such an enjoyable read. Once I picked this one up I was unable to put it down. This was such an enjoyable read because it is not your typical Rocker book. After her father passes away she finds out that she needs a job and FAST. Enter Dean and his band who have hired her ...more

This was an excellent read that had me emotionally hooked from the start!

The author has written a wonderfully descriptive novel that guts you with one traumatic event after the other! Although we are rewarded for our tears with a happy turn of events, tissues are recommended for the beginning. Mackenzie is a strong heroine deserving of the title, and Dean is the poster child for HERO!

If you’re in the mood for a beautiful love story with a little rock n roll, love lost, and love gained, then this
