All reluctant hitwoman Maggie Lee really wants is to have a calm, normal life.

She doesn’t want to go around killing people for money.
She doesn’t want her sister to be terrified of her ex-pimp.
She doesn’t want her Dad to disappear from the Witness Protection program.

But Maggie rarely gets what she wants.

Instead, she finds herself trying to keep everyone out of trouble.

With the help of her ragtag team of supporters: her semi-psychic friend, a handsome, charming con man, her almost-lover cop/hitman mentor, her curious Southern Belle cat, her haughty lizard, and her sweet, but dumb Doberman, Maggie does her best to stay a step ahead of Law Enforcement, while helping those she loves.

But will Maggie end up being the one who needs to be saved?

Maggie is up to her arms in officers. Another Fed & Marshal are staying at the B&B trying to catch her father to put him in witness protection. Ms Whitehat is forcing Maggie into jobs, Armani is giving kooky predictions, Marlene's pimp is after her, & Loretta might lose the store. Too much for Maggie as everything is falling onto her shoulders. She & Patrick try and steal some time together to no avail. Zeke pops back up and is still pursuing her & she spots Lucky again. Close to snapping she gets wise counsel from Godzilla

When Maggie was in a car accident, her sister and brother-in-law were killed and Katie, her niece and goddaughter, was left in a coma, which she has come out of but is still in the hospital. Maggie works in the call centre of an insurance company and doesn't have the kind of money it takes to keep Katie in the high end hospital she needs to be in. To supplement her income, she has become a reluctant hit woman for a mob boss.

Maggie has a lot of police officers hanging around her. They looking for her dad, who has vanished from witness protection and they assume she knows something, which she doesn't. Because the police are everywhere, Maggie can’t take on any hitwoman jobs. Meanwhile Marlene, her sister, is dealing with her own dangerous mess as her former pimp says she owes him money. Her Aunt Loretta is about to lose her store because her ex-husband is claiming he owns the building so they must find the deed to prove it's hers.

This is the seventh in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series (#52 is coming out next month). It's written in first person perspective in Maggie's voice. I had my doubts about this series when I discovered Maggie can now carry on conversations with Godzilla aka God, Katie's tiny lizard, who Maggie takes care of until Katie recovers, DeeDee, a dog she took in when she killed her owner, and Miss Piss, the cat. It sounds dumb but they are amusing and good friends and confidents to Maggie.

I wouldn't recommend it as a stand alone and you should read the first ones first as there are many references in this one that will make more sense if you have the background. I had read the first four in the spring and really enjoyed them. This is the third one I've read in the last couple of weeks and I'm not digging them all that much. This was the worst of the three.

The writing style has never been amazing but the stories were okay. The editing (or lack of) in this book was atrocious. In the beginning, there were references to Teresa, Maggie's sister and Katie's mother who had been killed in a car accident. Given that it's book seven, you'd think the author would know it's "Theresa" not "Teresa" ... later in the book it's correct as "Theresa". Very sloppy. Another example is when Maggie spent the day with God and at one point he almost got stepped on. Just a few minutes later Maggie goes to her basement apartment and God's freaking out because he's been cooped up all day and missing the action. Huh?!

I had intended to keep reading the series but I'm going to take a break ... and I don't know if I'll ever come back.

Ok so I read the next book !

Yep, I did. This one was a tad less stressful, no new talking animals .
Good series ,easy read but what I truly dislike is how I want to read the whole series but a bit irritated that each book is so short .
Still good series, just accept the fact that once you start reading each book you will loose sleep unless you have more control than me .

Keeps getting better...

This storyline just keeps getting better and better. I have a hard time putting the book down most days. Work and life keeps getting in the way.

It’s more of a paranormal mystery with a smidge of romance. The teasing is getting a little annoying but ai will
Stick it out because the rest of the story is great! The characters are very well written. I hope to get a little more of Zeke and Maggie’s Psychic friend in the next book.

Law enforcement everywhere

Poor Maggie never gets to relax. It seems every wacky member of her family needs her help in some manner. Dad has flown the coop again so the BandB is invaded by the return of our favorite law enforcement men with a clue of new faces. Absolutely love how she's bonding with her menagerie and so glad she is showing Dee Dee compassion rather than always being annoyed with her. Looking forward to reading #8

Another great book in the series

I love this series! It’s so easy to read and there’s always something new going on. The only reason I gave 4* instead of 5* is that there were so many mistakes in the book. This doesn’t normally annoy me as no one is perfect however there were a lot.

I started with #1 and just finished #7. Think I am going to take a break and maybe jump back in later in the series. This book was short with double spaced lines throughout. It just stopped being funny. Too many 1 liners with the animals and too many characters racing about.

Calling in sick to stay home and read.

YES, this series is that good. I just love it. Can not get enough of the intertwined stories, the wonderful characters. But be warned once you start you won't be able to stop.

Good Deed

The saying goes, "No good deed goes unpunished." Maggie did a lot of good deeds in this book and a few that are questionable, but from the heart. Wondering what the punishment will be in the next book. Still not a fan of Patrick.

It’s amazing how the main characters’ back stories keep developing every book. At some point we’re bound to know everything about their pasts right!? As always really enjoyed this book! Did not disappoint!

I read a lot of this series, but I stopped. It didn't seem like the main character grew at all. Just ended up being bored.

Cops everywhere.

J b Lyn writes another humerous murder mystery. The cast is about a thousand now? Maggie may manages to solve almost every problem her family has.

Entertaining

Even though the events and characters are a little over the top, they're funny and entertaining. It's a fun escape from him drum life.

Oh how I missed this series! It has been awhile since I picked up a Hitwoman book and when I did it was like coming home. Tagging along with Maggie while she gets caught up in all sorts of unbelievable situations is such an adventure. JB Lynn has such a gift for entertaining through her stories. The Hitwoman and the 7 Cops is another unique installment in this series.

In the 7 Cops, Maggie suddenly has too many law enforcement officials hanging around while she is busy taking care of everyone else's problems. Missing during a lot of the scenes is my favorite character, Patrick, but the end of the book explains this. There in Patrick's place is Zeke, who I like, but don't want Maggie to get too close to. That was a little twist in the book.

Lucky for Maggie, though, she always has plenty of people offering her advice including Godzilla. The snarky little anole is always one I enjoy hanging out with. Somehow Maggie manages to hold it all together, spend some quality time with her mother and father and solve everyone else's problems.

I have so many emotions when I read these books. I love how Maggie wants to help everyone but feel bad for her because her family isn't always nice to her. Sometimes I want to take Maggie away from them all but I can see that they all love each other. They are just a nutty bunch.

Lynn ends the book with quite a surprise and caused me to go directly to my online retailer of choice to download the next in the series. I couldn't walk away from the book like that! If you are looking for a book with lovable characters, a unique plot and laugh out loud moments, give The Hitwoman and the 7 Cops a read!

Maggie Lee's journey continues in The Hitwoman and the 7 cops. When i got this book i wondered how the heck 7 cops would be involved and pictured a group of 7 but it turns out that's not the case. Maggie can't seem to catch a break. No matter what it seems like every day is fraught with some craziness be it her aunts, her friends or her murder bosses. In this book it seems everyone is out to cause havoc and throw some some begging, or just plain hard persuasion and even some guilt to get Maggie to help them with something. Maggie is pulled in several directions at once and has to do a lot of juggling to get through it all. Thankfully she gets bit of help from her friends. As in all the books in this series there is a lot going on and many funny moments and well as some teary moments. I can't never figure out where the author is going until i actually get there so that always makes for a interesting reading. There are lots of appearances by cops in this book at least 7 of course but you will have to read the book to see where they all come into play. Very clever Miss Lynn. I hope to see more of Patrick , Maggie's murder mentor and almost lover in the next book. The biggest question is will they ever really get together!! Arrrggghh!! Everyone wants to know and is so when!???

Maggie is back. And as hilarious as ever. This is by far my favorite series. I'm always on the prowl for another Hitwoman story. This series should be a movie, or a tv show. It's got it all and no matter you favorite genre, you'll love it. I'm not giving anything away here, because really, if you're not reading JB Lynn yet... well you should be! Start at the beginning of this series, and then be sure to check out the spin off series that follows this one with "The Mutt and the Matchmaker". I smell another hit series in the making. JB Lynn delivers! My husband always knows when I'm reading her books, because I laugh so hard I end up sounding like Muttley.

The Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series is so good my inner grammar nazi has decided to ignore the things that usually drive me insane. God keeps me too busy rolling with laughter to care too much about the errors. In fact, if these books only came in German, I'd learn a second language just to read them. ;)

JB Lynn does it again with the latest installment of The Neurotic Hitwoman series. This 7th book in the series hits all the things I love so much about the series. There's Maggie, of course, and her gift (or curse, depending on the day) of talking to animals. There's Godzilla, DeeDee and Piss. There's the wacky aunts and the hot murder mentor. JB also brings us some new characters and adds wrinkles to the old characters' lives. I really enjoy how the players are all growing and changing, but still remaining the people I've come to love.

And that twist at the end? I can't wait to see what is up Ms. Lynn's sleeves in the next book.

3.5 Stars…Another great Maggie Lee yarn. This one was a bit sombre though. I find that as Maggie's family constantly wear her down I have less affection for them. It's disappointing that the most compassion Maggie sees in this book comes from God. This book also felt like reading the middle section of a novel rather than a book within a series. Seven books in and I'm wondering how long this series is supposed to be…I feel like I need something more at this point. As much as I love the series, these are disappointingly fast reads. I look forward to the next installment, but want things to pick up and start progressing a bit more. This series is still a nice diversion and worth reading.

The Hitwoman and the 7 Cops (Maggie Lee #7) by J.B. Lynn is the 7th glimpse into the wild and wacky world of reluctant hitwoman Maggie Lee. I had such a good time revisiting the crazypants world of Maggie. There were a couple of things that felt unfinished but since this is an on-going series, I'm hoping things will clarify in upcoming installments. Good fun, fast read, and put a smile on my face.

The rating should actually be 3.5. It feels like this book is shorter than the previous ones and ends with that huge cliffhanger. It's still very enjoyable, but I was somewhat annoyed by all those typos, and wrong names (Brian becomes Mike in the next paragraph, Joy changes her last name to Griswald, and who is Deb at the end???). Too many new and old characters for a short novel. Oh, and Maggie cannot stop crying in this book. I hope she'll be happier in the next book.

My only disappointment was that I finished the book way too quickly! I love Maggie & her crazy family, especially God! He pretty much steals all the scenes. JB Lynn has created so many funny & loveable characters in this series. Even though Maggie is involved in questionable activities, you'll root for her to win! Next book I hope to see Maggie win in the romance department! I'd like to see more of Maggie & Zeke. Love me some Zeke!

Short but awesome

If you're a fan of the Hitwoman series, you will love this book. Maggie has her hands full. She needs to help her Aunt recover important documents, save a police officer from making a huge mistake, find her on the lam dad, and help her sister who is being stalked by her ex-pimp. In addition to all this, Patrick has strangely disappeared. Luckily, Godzilla, DeeDee and Zeke are in her corner.

A Fun and easy read

I have enjoyed the entire Hitwoman series And this was no exception. Margaret Lee continues to entertain in number 7. The family is as crazy as ever, God is as haughty as ever, Piss is still "Piss", and Dee Dee is as sweet and heroic as ever! All the humans are in attendance and causing Maggy the usual headaches. All in all a enjoyable read.

J.B Lynn didn't disappoint this book had just as much fun as all the others. My only complaint is it was to short I finished it way to soon and can't wait for the next book. I hope it's coming out soon.

Love this series!

Except that I'm losing sleep because I can't put them down at night!! Fun stories and easy to read, but still have enough meat on the bone to keep them from. Being trite. But seriously? If Patrick and Maggie don't have sex soon.......
