At the young age of nineteen, Shayne Andrews thought she had it all. She had the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, and a bright future ahead of her. That is, until one day he just disappeared, leaving a note as his only goodbye. With her heart shattered and broken, Shayne did the only thing she could. She left her small town on the shores of Lake Michigan to start her life over, needing to distance herself from the memories she and Luke had made. At that time, she vowed to herself that she would never return to her hometown again. Seven years later, Shayne realizes that fate is not on her side as she returns home for her aunt’s funeral, bringing back the one secret she swore to protect.

Luke Schavone has regretted every day that he had to leave Shayne behind. Though he didn’t have a choice, his heart still bore the scars from the impact. After five years, Luke returned only to find that Shayne was gone. His best friend was the only lifeline he had to finding her, but Adam wasn’t talking. When the one thing Luke has wanted everyday for the past seven years runs right into him one night, he becomes determined to make sure he doesn’t lose her again.

At first, Shayne is hesitant. She wouldn’t be able to survive losing him again, but the pull toward him is so fierce, she can’t deny herself the chance. With the decision to start over, Luke and Shayne must admit truths and come to terms with the events that forced them apart in the first place. When secrets are revealed and old threats come to pass, will Luke be able to shelter Shayne from the destruction, or will she become lost to him forever?

Let me get this STRAIGHT.
1. He leaves while she's 19. Does he even break up with her? No. Instead...he writes her a goodbye note.
2. After no explanation or way of contacting him, heartbroken she flees as well.
3. But wait, he left her a little remainder.
4. 7 years later, she comes back to the same place she's been avoiding all these years to bury her aunt. Andddd guess what? Our hero is back. Whoo hoo!
5. wait, he's been there for two years already. What?
6. Whatever. As soon as he sees her, he demands she listens to him. He's going to explain why he left her the way he did. That's good right?
7. Here's where it got Stupid. His excuse is SO FREAKING RIDICULOUS.
8. But there's more...after listening to his "excuse" she takes him back in a blink of an eye! Say what?
9. We're not even in Chapter 8 and I'm about to DNF this. All these years she's been taking care of her daughter while he's been sleeping around.
10.neededless to say I skipped like crazy but I can conclude on something: I simply can't stand the hero. It's not everyday you'll find me writing this but let's get real. He's such an asshole to the heroine and yet she accepts it all because A) she's stupid B) she says she loves him C) in part because of #3 spoiler.

God. Reading Shelter Me was such a chore.

Both the leads in Shelter Me are the kinds of characters I don’t like to read. You see, I tend to read books from a feminist point of view—which I think is justified considering I’m, you know, a woman person. And in hindsight, Shelter Me is probably the exactly type of book I shouldn’t have read.

Luciano Schavone (Luke) is the typical male chauvinist. He thinks he can get away with whatever the fuck he wants by using sex as a bargaining chip. And sadly, he does succeed. All of this because Shayne Andrews is the antithesis of a strong female character.

And here’s my casting for Shayne:

Shelter Me #1 photo p_doormat_i-am-not_1514745i_zps7bf5d373.jpg

Luke left Shayne, a girl he’d dated for more than two years, when they were 18. And after that? No explanation. No calls. No letters. Absolute radio silence.

And how does Shayne react when he returns into her life?

Context: She’s fallen on her butt and he’s offering her his hand to help her up.

I can’t move, can’t think, I just stare at that hand.

That beautiful fucking hand. His deep voice calls out to me again, but this time, it’s just a whisper at the base of my ear.

You know what I’d do? I’d take that fucking hand of his in mine, pull myself up and slap him with my other free hand for being a douche bag for 99% of the book. But of course, that’s what I’d do.

Also: Here’s a picture of my hand. Does anyone think it’s beautiful? If you do, please let me know. Is likes the attentions.

Back to this book. So uh yeah, once this happens, Shayne’s cousin—Adam—takes her home and for the moment all is well.

Some two or three days later, Luke and Shayne finally meet.

“Hey, baby,” Luke greets, and the sound is like music to my ears.

Seriously? Fucking seriously? The guy dumped you without reason, stayed out of touch for 6 years and his voice is music to you? You need help, womun.

Did I mention

There wasn’t one—not one—character that I liked. Not even one. And the writing was a bit more than average. It’s a debut novel, I know, but it needed a little more of showing, than telling.

Like I said, it was a chore to read. I was completely turned off this novel in the first 2%—which was around the time Luke entered the scene.

So many want us to write something great for a review on a book.... Well, this review is going to be rocking your world and make you drop your panties! I had the honor of reading this beta for a first time author. She nailed it. Her storyline kept you wanting more and breathing heavily because.... OMGosh you need to go change those panties! Shayne and Luke have a love that withstands time, tests their limits and make them complete in the end.

I know you all will love this first book from this fabulous author. So go grab it when it comes out...put the kids to bed...grab that glass of wine and enjoy. Oh make sure your significant other is ready for you because you will have to release that excitement somehow - panty dropping style!

Review by Jen Hagen

I really wanted to like this book, but for some reason I just could not connect with the characters. I felt depth was missing and the transition from scene to scene was not smooth. The storyline is something that always pulls me in – secrets, mystery, second chance at love, etc. so I was disappointed that it did not meet my expectations.

Luke and Shayne were in love at the young age of 19, when one night Luke had to leave unexpectedly with the only trace of his vanishing being a goodbye letter to Shayne. The premise of his disappearance stems from a family-related vendetta. Shayne left home and moved far away and continued her studies to become a nurse. Shayne’s upbringing was mostly accomplished by her aunt, and Shayne is returning for her aunt’s funeral. Luke and his family returned home 2 years ago, but Luke was never able to retrieve any information about Shayne’s current whereabouts.

Secrets of that night begin to unravel in the form of a shoebox holding letters. Shayne is stunned by what she finds and realizes that Luke was telling the truth about his sudden departure. Their love for each has never faded and they both still love each other deeply. How they move forward will depend on what Shayne has to tell Luke and how he reacts. Luke doesn’t take the news well…

“I f*cking bled for you!” he screams, beating on his chest. “Every mother*cking day for the last seven years, my heart has bled for you. And you just twisted the knife and f*king slaughtered it. Is this some kind of sick payback for me leaving you? If it is, you win.”

Forgiveness is the majority of the story. Luke asks forgiveness for leaving Shayne, Shayne seeks forgiveness for her secret, and there’s one other person who knows the depth of the secret but accepts that forgiveness will be a hard thing to ask for.

Luke accepts his new role in life and does it with tenderness. Shayne forgives easily…maybe a little too easily and I needed more angst. There were a few bumps in the road along with a man determined to take his revenge out on their happiness, but it wasn‘t enough to keep me captivated.

Shelter Me by Kathy Coopmans is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really good story that had my interest peaked from the very first paragraph to the last.
Seven years ago, Shayne's entire world stopped on it's axis. The man she loved so desperately just walked out of her life with nothing but an “I'm Sorry” note. Shayne left town and never looked back. Now her beloved aunt as been killed in an accident and she has no choice but to come home for the funeral. She is reunited with her cousin, Adam, who is like a brother to her, and is taking some time to grieve when out of the clear blue sky she literally slams into the man who broke her heart- Luke Schavone.
Now, all those old wounds open back up, but Luke will not leave her be until he has a chance to set things straight.
Could Luke really have a plausible explanation for walking out one her? Well, as it so happens he does have a legitimate reason... he was trying to protect her. When he comes back home, he tries to see Shayne again, but her family refuses to allow it. Little does he know just how much he has missed out on over the past seven years.
But, once he sees Shayne he won't back away and little by little he manages to get her to at least listen to him. Although Luke still has Shayne enthralled, whether she likes it or not, and he had a good reason for leaving, and the will to work things out between them, Shayne is not sure her heart can take another blow from Luke. Seven years and lots of secrets, plus eminent danger will test the couple's ability to overcome the past and forge a future together.

Luke was absolutely dreamy and it was so wonderful to read a story where a family is reunited despite all the odds against them and although it wasn't easy, they loved each other enough to make it all work. This one is 4 stars

Shelter Me is not only book one in the Shelter Me series it is also Kathy Coopmans debut novel, not that you'd know because the writing and the story are fantastic. Shayne Andrews and Luke shavone have a connection like no other they were together when they were young but got torn apart unexpectedly and for seven years Shayne didn't see or hear from Luke, he disappeared and she chose to leave town rather than spend her days in the town that reminded her so much of him. Seven years on and she had to come back, her aunts death meant she needed to come home and from there her life is changed forever. The chemistry between Luke and Shayne is sooooo hot!!! Their sex scenes are like WOW!! And Luke is so sweet and thoughtful. Like every couple they have their fights but they manage to work through it. One more thing .. Shayne has a six year old daughter that Luke knows nothing about. Anyway without giving too much of the story away There's this big issue surrounding Lukes family and to me the end felt a little anti climactic I felt like the big thing that they'd been leading up to for most of the book was a little rushed and put to bed too quickly. but ultimately this book was great!! I loved all the supporting characters Adam is an amazing person and so is Bubba that girl has the best men in her life they all care for her so fiercely its amazing to read. I look forward to rescue me which is Adam and Erin's book.

For a debut book from this author it was AMAZING!!! I couldn’t put this book down! Luke and Shayne have such dynamic chemistry!

Shayne and Luke have a history like no other. Because of circumstances their relationship was cut short due to a move with Luke’s family. Shayne is back in Michigan for her aunt’s funeral. Luke is back in Michigan and has been there for a few years now. Of course their paths will cross with the funeral. Running into Luke has Shayne trying to keep control of her emotions with him. He still has a hold onto her heart after all these years! Luke is so happy to see Shayne again and will do everything in his power to get her back and never let go!

There are things from the past that are coming back and Luke is going to do everything in his power to protect what is his.

When Shayne and Luke get together they are explosive! Literally melt your panties HOT!

It’s so hard to write a review for a book that isn’t out yet without spoilers. So I will say this! Do NOT hesitate to one click when this book releases! You will not be disappointed!

Started skimming at about 30%. I was just bored with it. Nothing really happened and the big secret Luke had was pretty obvious from the beginning. The dialogue was corny and super cheesy. The whole thing was far too happy sunshine and rainbows after everything that happens to them. I was waiting for everyone to break into song and unicorns to start flying out of their asses. Shayne is practically a saint; she goes from being broken, traumatized, and hating Luke to just being oh so understanding and forgiving about everything in the blink of an eye. The characters have no depth and the story just did not live up the the potential. Not gonna bother with book 2.

Shelter Me is Kathy Coopman's debut novel and for that I will give her tons of kudos as it's a great accomplishment. She introduces us to Shayne and Luke in one of my favorite genres, long lost love.

Shayne was seventeen when she met the love of her life Luke Shavone and just two years later he left her. No reason, no letters, no calls, he was just gone. After Luke left, Shayne left the small town too as she needed to get away from it all. Doing well for herself in Michigan for the past seven years, Shayne is brought back home for her aunt's funeral. She wasn't thrilled about having to go back, even more so now that Luke is also back in town.

Luke Shavone had no choice to leave the love of his life seven years ago. He has a good excuse, but not one he is sure Shayne will believe. It was all for her. It sounds corny to him now, but at the time he thought he was doing the right thing. He has been back for two years, keeping in contact with Shayne's cousin Adam making sure she is safe. Knowing Shayne will be home for the funeral, Luke plans his attack.

Of course Shayne wants nothing to do with the man that crushed her heart all those years ago, but deep down she still loves him and knows she needs to get everything out in the open to see where they stand. Luke hasn't stopped loving Shayne either, however he still has some trouble surrounding him and shouldn't be involving her.

They both are carrying secrets. Shayne spills hers pretty quickly which I was glad for because it was so obvious. Luke's is a little more convoluted, but he ends up coming clean to her. I really just couldn't connect with either of these characters, especially Shayne. She seemed a bit immature for 26 years old, very wishy-washy and let Luke waltz right in and take over, no wooing from him whatsoever. A little more resistance from Shayne would have helped the story for me and added some much needed angst. I also wasn't a fan of Luke, he was a cliched leading male and a bit annoying with his macho sexy talk.

While the book is written well and the story line was good, With no connection to the characters, I started to skim at about the 60% mark. Of course I wanted to see what Luke's secret was, but even then wasn't brought back into the story.

This is book #1 in the Shelter Me Series.
It is also Kathy's debut novel.
I gave this book 5 stars.

This is Luke and Shayne's story.
AND what a story it is.

No Spoilers for you. So you will just have to read this!!!! It is a must read!!!!! But I will give you my take on how I feel about this delicious book!!
Sometimes reading a new authors work is scary because you don't know what to expect, but let me tell you that Kathy is meant to be an Author. She spun this story and gave us some shocking moments that you would have never seen coming! The sex scenes are hot and steamy and UGH! Just so beautifully done. I wanted to say that this is your typical story. Blah, blah, blah, but Kathy reeled me in from the beginning and I could not put this book down. So to me this is not your typical story. I kept saying just one more chapter. Okay, I can't stop there just one more. I looked up and it was 5 am and I had to get up at 530 so why the heck not just keep reading right? Yeah, you see my point. So now I am running on fumes, but I am happy. I just wish book two was ready. I love Kathy's writing and will now be a fan for life.

Shelter Me is Kathy Coopmans debut novel. With an author's first novel you never know what to expect because you don't have a previous book or a ton of review to use to decide whether or not to read the book. It kind of like you take a gamble that you are going to like to book based on the synopsis. With Shelter Me that gamble paid off. Shelter Me is a great well written story.

It pulls you in right from the beginning. The characters are written so well that their emotions just come right off the page for the reader. I loved Shayne, her cousin Adam, and Luke. Shayne and Luke have such great chemistry. Both have some secret that they don't come out with right away. We know what Shayne's secret pretty quickly into the story. Luke keeps some information about why he left her seven before from her. But like all secrets they come out eventually.

I know some readers tend to stay away from books in a series until the series in complete. Don't let the fact that Shelter Me is book one in the Shelter Me series keep you from reading it. There is no cliffhanger. Shelter Me is Luke and Shayne's story. Towards the end it took a turn that I never expected but everything is tied up well in the end and there is an epilogue that brings you into the future so you can see how thing turned out. Book two is the series is going to be Erin and Adam's story. You'll met Erin and Adam when you read Shelter Me.

DNF I had a hard time with this one. It had the potential to be really good. After seven years of hiding from her past and the H the h literally falls at the H's feet with little effort on his part. She ranted and escaped for that long to probably last 7 seconds in his presence without falling apart. He gave very little reason for his abandonment but she forgave him easily. They were jumping into sex quickly. I just expected more of a challenge and not a complete roll over. I overlooked the doormat behavior but I finally had enough when the h told the H about his daughter. He went apeshit on her for hiding the child from him. I'm sorry but she didn't hide the child. He left her and she has no idea where he was at. She tried finding him but gave up. He shows up five years later expecting her to be waiting for him. She's not so he moved on. When she finally came back he expected her to just throw out there hey we have a kid?! Really?! What planet are they from? She had every right to approach with caution to this situation. When realizes it's all clear she tells him. But some how she is the witch in this story and he is the victim. She kept him away from his child for six years! He really put this all on her and so did others. She let them and she also started blaming herself. She took him back again. I couldn't finish reading a story that twisted the victim into the guilty party any longer and some where forgot the original beginning that we were told.

I just have to say that I LOVE KATHY COOPMANS! I just finished reading her debut novel in this series and its amazing!
In this story we meet Shayne, her character is built with perfection and lovability. You can't help but fall in love with her character and her easy going personality. She loves the ocean and she is nurse by day. Now she has to return home to her cousin Adam and help him bury her aunt Judy.
Enter Luke Schavone! He is the man that walked out on her seven years go with no more than a note. Well he also came back to town and has been looking for her ever since.
This book is full of fate and second chances not only that but it has the twists and turns and special surprises that every reading enthusiast loves to read about!
This is also a very clean novel, however, the passion and steam in the book are still ever present.
Do Luke and Shayne get the happy ending they have been looking for all these years? Well let me tell you....buy this book and you will find out! Not only will you be happy you did but you will stay up long into the night reading it and wake up with the most blissful BOOK HANGOVER!

OMG, I absolutely loved this book!! I laughed, I cried, my emotions were all over the place but I loved every minute of it.

Luke was Shayne's whole world. They had a love like no other and then suddenly Luke was gone completely shattering Shayne and causing her to leave town for 7 years. When Shayne's aunt unexpectedly dies, she must return home and not only have to deal with the loss of her aunt but face seeing Luke again after all these years apart. When Luke explains why he had to leave so suddenly and not take her with him will Shayne be able to forgive him? When Luke learns that Shayne has kept a secret from him for years, how will he react? Will he be able to forgive her?

Luke and Shayne's story is both heartbreaking and beautiful. I just could not get enough of them and HOLLLLYY HOTTNESSS, these two had my kindle smoking!! I also couldn't help but fall in love with the secondary characters, especially a little certain someone :)

Go one click this book now, you will NOT regret it!! Awesome Job Kathy Coopmans, I can't wait to read more of your books!!!

5 Perfect Stars !

I can not begin to express how much I loved this story.. This is Kathy Coopmans debut novel and Im just going to say it is Absolute Perfection ! I can not imagine it getting any better than this. It is full of love, heartache, mystery and some pretty steamy love scenes.
My heart cried for Shayne and Luke. You can't help but fall in love with them. Unfortunate circumstances occurs and Luke has disappeared from Shayne's life without no explanation why. She is lost, confused, and hurt.
Tragedy strikes Shayne once again 7 years later bringing her back home. Then surprise in walks her past the man she never thought she would see again.

Can Shayne forgive Luke for walking out on her ? Will Luke be able to forgive Shayne when he discovers the secret she has been keeping from him?

I love the secondary characters in this story. Adam most of all! I can not wait to read Rescue Me !!!

Shelter Me

Kathy gives us an Amazing story of finding your lost love when you didn't think there was any hope left.

I admired Shayne and her strength to keep going even when things got difficult and the love of her life up and vanishes for years. Then she has to face her demons and come back to her hometown when tragedy strikes.

Luke is back when she returns for the first time. He reappears and has to prove that he never meant to hurt her. He is very strong, loyal, and hot as they come

As they struggled with the past to move on with a future together they showed a bond that is only found in true love. The chemistry between these two if off the charts.

I'll leave you with that. Now go find out the secrets and if they make it through the past to have a future.

Holy moly! Absolutely loved this book! I laughed, I cried (literally, for like three chapters), I got annoyed, sad, happy! All of these emotions that's I've never had with another book. The love that Luke & Shayne have for each other is incredible. It's as if it was pulled right out of a fairytale. I would recommend this book a million times over!!!Too bad just can only give it 5 stars because it deserves at least 8 ;)

This book was a disappointment. The storyline sounded good but it just didn't live up to expectations. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, once I got into the story I found it to be unbelievable and far fetched. There were lots of grammatical errors and mistakes which isn't acceptable to me and the writing style was not great, it was very amateurish. Sadly I won't be reading any more of this author's work based on this book.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Wonderful Stars

Shelter Me was a truly wonderful debut novel by Kathy Coopmans. This book had so many aspects to it that I just loved, and the story itself was one that I just fell in love with instantly. Shelter Me is about getting a second chance for something utterly beautiful.

This book is about what happens when those second chances come along, and how light and happiness can be found in even the darkest and hardest of times.

I loved that this book hit the ground running with everything its got. It’s extremely well-paced and you are thrust right into the story. That just works. It also makes it easy to sink right in with what is going on with the fantastic characters.

Shayne is one tough cookie. Shayne is one strong female character who was extremely relatable. She goes through a lot in the events of this book, and she definitely is put to the test with all the things she experiences. But through all of this she holds her own, and never gives up. She fights and that is utterly fantastic to read, and it really made me love and admire her character for the toughness she had through everything.

Luke is a protective gem of a man. Luke was a magnificent male character to read. He is fiercely protective and majorly passionate about many things, but especially Shayne. The way he looks at her, talks to her, and opens up to her exemplifies every wonderful thing about his character. I am telling you he will just warm your heart with how amazing he is. (He also uses a seriously heart melting term of endearment for Shayne, and that was just the best.)

From the moment these two are on the page together, you feel the instant connection and the true depth of feeling between Luke and Shayne. You feel the pain and anguish they’re feeling at seeing each other again, and you feel the hope and desire thrumming from both of them. You will be captivated by the connection between these two, I promise. These two have also got it going on. You will feel every single thing these characters feel for one another, and that is hot. The chemistry and desire between them is palpable and continues to throb throughout their entire story.

There are some mysteries and questions that come up with the story being told. Those mysteries come to the page in a truly thoughtful way, and they really piqued my interest. It makes it so you are dying to know what’s going to happen, and certainly makes the book engaging as all get out.

I absolutely loved that this book had such a feel of coming home and family to it. All the different characters in this book come together to make a crazy kind of family. The feeling of family and home weaves together with the story beautifully, and makes every event in this book that more extraordinary to read. It also truly resonates with what is going on with Luke and Shayne. I loved how this book brought the past, present, and futures of both Shayne and Luke, along with everybody else, together. The meshing of these 3 mediums made me love Shayne and Luke more, and it made me invested with them. The author does such a fabulous job of this that you will want to fight for them too with all you’ve got.

This is a true second chance at love, and books like this are why I adore these kinds of stories. These magnificent characters are getting a new chapter together, and though they have much to go through, this second chance brings out the best in them. The second chances in this book are hard fought and well deserved, and this book exemplifies what it means to get a second chance at it all.

The fight for the happy also made this book phenomenal. Shelter Me makes Shayne, Luke, and many of the other characters fight for the happy they are seeking. Both Shayne and Luke are fighting for their second chance together. That fight has its ups and downs and puts them to the serious test, but that fight is so worthwhile and enthralling to read.

Shelter Me was a highly engaging book that explores what happens when two people are given a second chance at the happiness they are both seeking. The connection and power between the two main characters it just utterly wonderful, and will have you in love with their story the minute you meet them.

This book truly exemplifies what it means to take that leap of faith even when you can’t exactly see what’ll happen next. The story within this books page is filled with fantastic characters that will truly captivate you in every way, and in the end the overpowering sense of love, family, and home in the book will just melt your little heart.

Do you believe in soul mates? In that one person that is meant to be your forever after? In this first book in the Shelter Me series by Kathy Coopsman that is question. In Shelter Me Ms. Coopsman’s main characters are star crossed lovers that are torn apart by circumstances that they can do nothing about. After seven years they are brought back together, but will fate be on their side this time?

Secrets in a small town are almost impossible to keep. Shayne has hidden a secret for the past seven years with the help of her family. She moved away seven years ago and had not returned once until the death of her beloved aunt. The woman that had taken Shayne in and raised her as her own daughter was more of a mother to Shayne than her biological mother. She had promised herself that she would never return to her hometown. The memories of the man she had loved and been betrayed by were everywhere and unavoidable in that town. Now, she had no other choice but to return and help her cousin with arrangements for the funeral. It was hard enough to return but when she is confronted by her past, will she be able to survive? Survive seeing the man she had loved with every part of her being!

So many secrets and so much heartache had been Luke’s constant companion for the past seven years. The loss of the woman he had loved with his whole being had been ruthlessly torn from him. After years in exile, he has finally returned home only to find that Shayne is gone. No one will tell him where she is, even her family refuses. When her aunt passes away, Luke knows that she will have to return. Will she give him a chance to explain about where he has been? Why he had to leave the way he did? Or has he lost her?

When Luke confronts Shayne and asks her to listen to him, to let him explain, it almost breaks her again. Should she take a chance? But she has secrets too. Will Luke understand when she shares and tries to explain? Or will he walk away once again and leave her broken and in pieces like the last time? Read this amazing love story to unravel the secrets that are hidden within its pages.

Shelter Me was a great second-chance romance and I’m a sucker for second chance romances. It didn’t take long to get caught up in Shayne and Luke’s story and I was so excited to see how it would unfold.

Shayne and Luke had an amazing relationship until Luke disappears only leave a note behind. It broke Shayne’s heart and she left and tried to move on with her life. Coming back for the first time in 7 years, she runs into Luke. Even if she tried to deny it, their old feelings were still there, but there were many questions: why did he leave, could they fix the pain from the past, and could they move on.

I really liked Shayne. She was sweet but she could hold her own when she needed to. She was a positive person but she kept much of her pain hidden and pushed forward with her life. Luke was intense but sweet. He made mistakes but you could tell her truly cared for Shayne. The chemistry between the two was super-hot and there some truly sexy moments.

This was a quick, easy read. It wasn’t very angsty but it definitely had some drama filled moments. Kathy did a great job of creating likable characters and fun dialog. I enjoyed this book and I’m excited to what’s next in this series.

This is the perfect debut novel for Kathy Coopmans!!!!! I was intrigued from the first chapter and my attention was kept throughout the entire book.
We all dream of second chances and the what ifs in life but are rearely granted the possibility of achieving it.
Luciano, Luke to those who know him, all i can say about his is HOLY HOTNESS!!!!! Shayne is an independant single mother who had her life turned upside down when Luke disappeared one night 7 years before.
Adeath in the family brings Shayne home to her hometown in Michigan and the last person she thought she would run into was Luke.
Shayne has a hard time forgiving that awful night when he left but is reminded everyday of her life that he will always be a prt of her life.
Take this roller coaster ride of a lifetime to see if love can heal all wounds and allow Shayne and Luke to have their second chance.
I was an emotional wreck throughout the entire book and i couldn't get enough of these two. The secondary characters play a huge role in the lives of our couple and i totally loved the banter between the group of friends.
Kudos to Kathy and i can not wait until we get to read Adam and Erins story!!
Now Give me a Corona and my one Luke, or Adam, Or Antonio!!!!!

Nope. Not for me. I struggled to read this as soon as Shayne and Luke met again. She INSTANTLY takes him back, takes a week to build up the courage to tell him about Lucy where he then goes off his nut at her for keeping his daughter from him for six years.

Umm...dude? You fucking disappeared on her. How the fuck was she supposed to let you know? And let's not mention that your reason for running off without a word was so goddamned weak! In that whole time you couldn't have let her know what was going on??!! But you loved so much that you hooked up with other girls, but no one has ever meant anything to him except her? It was ridiculous. I tried to go further than 30% but ended up skimming to the end where the story really didn't improve. Shayne is made to feel guilty and she's an idiot for putting up with that shit! She bends over backwards for a guy who so willingly walked out on her and lived his own life quite nicely, while she struggled to raise their daughter and put herself through school. Fucking dick and idiot doormat deserve each other! I just feel sorry for the kid.

All I could think is way to go, Shayne, in showing a strong, positive role model to your daughter....NOT!!!

This is a debut novel by this author and I absolutley loved it. I was hooked from the first chapter. The characters are amazing and you cant help but fall in love with them all. This is a beautiful love story of two people who find themselves after many years apart. Luke is as sexy as hell and he still loves Shayne after all these years apart. Shayne is beautiful and she has a daughter Lucy who I might just say will melt your heart, and she is Shayne's number one priority. You also get to meet Adam who is Shayne's cousin but they are more like sister and brother, and he will do anything to protect Shayne. There is so much I could say about this book and the characters, but I dont want to give anything away, so if you want too see if Shayne and Luke can rekindle the love that they shared many years ago or will there be something that stands in their way, then I suggest you grab a copy, I promise you wont be disapointed This was a beautifully written story and I cant wait to read more by this author.

3.5 stars for me...

hmm where do I start? this was the author's debut novel and in my opinion it was ok.

Shayne and Luke were in love 7 years ago but he ends up leaving her and she hasn't heard from him since. here she is back in the town she left for her aunt's funeral and they come face to face.

Shayne was strong but when it came to Luke I think she took him back too fast. the excuse why he had to leave was believable to a point but if people would have communicated things would have turned better for all parties involved. when he found out her secret he reacted as unexpected but I was happy he and Lucy built an amazing relationship. I thought Lucy would have been more hesitant, but it worked out for them.

Ben was a waste in my opinion and we could have done without him and the whole situation.

Overall it was ok. they got their hea after all the drama and it leads us to Erin and Adam's book next in Rescue Me.

A story of forgiving and reuniting after a long and abrupt separation. A story of forgiveness and revealing of secrets. A story of a love so strong no test of time apart could lessen the fire. A story of family. This is the amazing story of Shayne and Luke.
At the age of 19 Shayne thought her world had ended when the love of her life leaves her. No word were he is simply I love you and a Good bye. She suffered, struggled and eventually learned to live again.
After 7 years she returns home and every thing she thought she had accomplished poof just disappears when Luke enters her life again. Both have secrets. Both have pain and regret. Both still love each other.
A story of the testament of what is real and strong. I loved it it was beautiful to read!
This book had me in tears and shaking in my boots, when Kathy throws in a twist of danger. Loved, and perfectly timed! I can't wait to read the next one!!!

Shelter Me is a great book of two people who have a second chance at love. Shayne has lived without Luke for seven years after he disappeared and she holds a secret that he does not know. Luke had to leave the love of his life seven years ago but when she reappears back in their small town he is determined that he will show her that he never stopped loving her. Does he succeed and what will he think when he know her secret? Pick up this great book and find out.

You will fall in love with all of the characters. This book is well written and flows easily. You will be rooting for Shayne and Luke to get their second chance at happiness. There is just enough twists and surprises that keep you turning the pages.

Kudos to Kathy Coopmans for a great debut novel. I received a gift copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow!! What can I say about this book? I absolutely loved this book. This is Kathy’s debut book and she did a wonderful job. It was very well written and the storyline was amazing. I am so proud of Kathy.

I love Shayne and Luke to pieces. Their story was both heartbreaking and beautiful. There were some shocking moments in this book and I didn’t see it coming. I also loved the secondary characters as well. The storyline flowed very well. I won’t say much about it because this is a MUST read. I think what Kathy did in this book was brilliant and I believe she was born to write. I just wish book two was ready, because I can’t wait to read more from Kathy. Great Job and I can’t wait for others to read this book!
