On Her Watch begins right where In His Command leaves off, so it would have been good if I'd read the first book beforehand. I'm sure that the majority of the world-building was done in the first book. This one throws the reader in head-first, so it took a little bit for me to understand exactly what was going on, how the armed forces worked, etc. It's not impossible - eventually I figured it out, but the characters from the first are constantly referred to, so if you're thinking about this seri ...more

My Review:
I read book #1 in this series, In His Command, and fell in love with these characters and this world, but will admit I wasn't sure if an m/f relationship would work as well in this world for me as a reader, even though I do enjoy dystopian sci-fi type books. The book, and relationship, did work for me.

This book is about Liz and Linc. Both these characters are heavily tied to the characters from the first book. Liz was Caspar's second in command, while Linc is Nate's twin brother

In the year 2070, the Purge and Plague has wiped out most of mankind. Clustered in cities run by a despotic company, humans’ focus is on breeding. And anyone not breeding is judged, sentenced, and quickly executed. Hardline Corps lieutenant Liz has wanted vengeance against the nomads who killed her father a decade ago. Problem is, she’s found the nomads and they had nothing to do with it. They o

SPOILER ALERT: I'm assuming you read the previous book, because it's hard to give background without spoilers, so this your warning.

"On Her Watch" is the second full length romance novel in the dystopian erotica !Don't Tell" series by Rie Warren. It follows shortly after "In His Command", a male-male romance novel, where Liz Grant and Commander Caspar Cannon defected from the Alpha Territories Corps, the armed branch of the Company's strict regime, as he fell in love with Nathaniel R

I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This story is set in the future, the year is 2070 and you would think that it would be more like to cartoon The Jetsons but it's not. The world has been attacked but not from other worldly beings, it is from the people of Earth. Alpha, Beta, Omega, etc is trying to eradicate those people that they, the government, sees as the wrong type. Especially trying to rid the world of them by using the ...more

I don't particularly like dystopian as a genre. It makes me nervous. But if the world as I know it is coming to an end and a new world is about to begin, Rie Warren's characters are the ones I want with me. Courage, Loyalty, Humor, Intelligence. Plus some sure-fire sexual acrobatics and a solid set of surprise twists.

Enjoy!

I had the opportunity to read the first book in this series. I was absolutely enthralled from cover to cover by this futuristic dystopian world that the author created as the backdrop for the adventure romance that took place. Totally excited when I was given the opportunity to read the sequel with one of the secondary characters as the heroine. This sequel took more of a romantic suspense tone since most of the story took place while the heroine, Liz, is infiltrating the government to discover ...more

Wow, this book started out rather long winded and boring to me since I had already read the other book in this series, but I understand why the author needed to go back and refresh or update a new reader about the history of this story though. The information not only helped a new reader connect to the importance of Liz’s mission, it made the ending even more priceless. Just a brief update, we are in the year 2070’s of the world’s time frame and there are groups fighting for the power to control ...more

Most Anticipated Read of 2014 ? 1 Of My Top 3 - You Bet!

Love Alpha Men and Beta Women? Me too!

Plenty of reviews tell you all the story details. I make my commentary to encourage people to read the books. To adopt Rie as a beloved author to be followed through thick and thin.

The fact I'm reading this series, and loving it whole heartedly - should be a selling point for any lingering doubters put off by the labels: M/M, Dystopian, futuristic, war time genres. Ri

All the books I have read so far by author Rie Warren are done from a male first person POV. Now I know she has nailed each and every one of them so I was curious (being that this was Liz Grant's story) to see how she would do with On Her Watch. No worries here...she nailed it.

Liz is of course military so I expected a tough woman but not so over the top that her feminine side would be lost. As for Linc, due to the first book in the series I walked in with a preconceived notion that h

Book Two of the Don't Tell series centers around Lieutenant Lizbeth Grant and Commander Linc Cutler. At the beginning I had a hard time connecting with the story, probably because I missed the first one. It was a good idea mass genocide because of homophobia to the max and civil war leading to the destruction of the government and society that we know; I just couldn't really connect with the characters or the story. I can't even really place why I didn't I like them, I liked how they were both s ...more

Rie Warren is an amazing storyteller. She can set your panties on fire in a heartbeat. But what makes her truly amazing is that she does it amidst the backdrop of an EPIC war.

I am a huge fan of her first novel in the Don't Tell series, In His Command. Big Man and Blondie are one of my all-time favorite couples. Understandably, I had high expectations for On Her Watch.

I was totally blown away. But not for the reasons I expected. I knew there would be passion, love, hot sex

Ok so, I didn't enjoy reading the first 70% of this book, unfortunately but the story picked up a little after that so I guess it's why I didn't rate it one star. Also, the chemistry between Linc and Liz was pretty good and was the reason I kept reading when I really wanted to stop and read another book. Do I recommend this book? Mmh, no.

I don't know how many times I was frustrated or annoyed by this book, really. The main reason was the story at first, I honestly found it a little ridiculous s

I requested this book because the blurb sounds like a book I’ll love and story-wise it is a great read. Unfortunately, I can’t connect with the narrator and that is the main reason why this book is a chore to finish. I don't know why and until the end, I can't put my fingers why the narrator just doesn't sound/feel true to me. Thus the romance part of this book/story is lost on me.
The above reason beside, this book is well written, the characters flesh out, and the plot is seamless. Even t

On Her Watch by Rie Warren is the second book in her Don’t Tell series. I haven’t read the first book in the series and I didn’t have any problems following along. It starts a little rocky with some parts that didn’t make sense or felt illogical but the flow smoothed out for the most part around the midway point. One thing that really didn’t feel at all logical was Liz passing their reliability test to the Corps by kissing Linc. Uh, I don’t see how that would prove she isn’t

On Her Watch is the next in Rie Warren's future dystopian erotic romance series. This novel follows Liz and Linc as they maneuver through the purge and war. I'll be honest, the first half of the book was a little difficult to get through, it was an interesting premise, Liz is to infiltrate the corps and do what she can to help the resistance. She is assigned to Linc, who is Nate's brother fro

Ever since I finished In His Command, I've been anxiously awaiting this book. I really like Liz, I really like Warren's dystopian future setting, and I was excited to see where else we would go. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, exactly, but I do have to say that there were some early weak points that I had a hard point getting past. Once Liz and Linc are firmly together, the story gets going nicely and we get plenty of the military action and revolutionary conspiracy that made Command so enjoyable. What it did ...more

This book wasn't for me. I had several issues, beginning with the authors use of more telling than showing. And as this story is told in first person, it made for some very frustrating and redundant reading. In the second paragraph, Liz said "I was a hardass" (Loc 39, Kindle) and then proceeds to show just how much of a hardass she was. Come on! At first, I thought it was just a fluke but then it happened again and again. :/ Does a character trait need to be stated and then demonstrated to make ...more

This book grew on me as I read it. In the beginning I struggled with a 'jumped in' feeling since this is the second in the series and I have not yet read the first. (I will). I found myself getting more into the back story from book one to the point where I lost track of what was happening in this one and would have to skip back to stay on track.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.

While I love dystopian erotic romances, I had problems with this book. It seemed to jump from one situation to another without an explanation. While searching for details about her father’s death and convincing Linc to join the Rebels when does Liz find time for a brazilian? It just seemed to appear out of nowhere. There were several scenes in this book that left me wondering how they got there.

It was almost insta lust/love be

I have not read the book one and for me I felt like I was missing parts. The author does spend a lot of time filling you in but I still felt like I was missing parts. I enjoy sci-fi but for me this was a little far out there. I didn’t feel the characters blended well. The sex scenes were hot and passionate but it just didn’t work for me. I felt it was a great story line and a wonderful plot, I can’t put my finger on just why I didn’t get into this book but I just did not.

I'll start with the best thing about this book: the chemistry between Linc and Liz is pretty damn awesome. It's intense and almost feral, and it's evident from their first meeting.

That's also one of the story's biggest downfalls.

Linc's behavior toward Liz is just so out of character for everything I'd expect of a commanding officer that it's laughable at times. I like that Liz walked away from him numerous times, unwilling to give in, because sometimes the man just skeeve

I really had a hard time getting into this second story of the series. I adored book #1, the adventure and excitement paired with the romance was perfect. However, I felt like this novel dragged on. I really liked this story. If you had told me about 2 years ago that I would like reading dystopian/futuristic/post apocalyptic books I would tell you that your crazy. Thats really still the truth I don't just read any books in this genre but if it has a hot hero/heroine and the romance is steamy than I’m all over it. That also means that I’m picky when It comes to this genre as well.

On Her Watch by Rie Warren is dystopian romance, which I do not usually read. However, the synopsis and cover intrigued me enough to try it. It is surprising interesting which just goes to show the setting can vary and still be enjoyable. This is definitely an enemies with attraction kind of story. Linc and Liz are strong, tough and rough individuals that were well matched. It also caused them to have major problems besides just with the regime.
At times, the story reminded me with the resistanc
