An afternoon read, great for between longer books. Low-drama, high spice, and lots of hockey.
Anya just wants to be left alone.

Haunted by a dark past, the quiet omega has built a solitary life in her tiny apartment, finding solace in her art. Love, especially with a pack of alphas, is the furthest thing from her mind. Then three loud hockey players move in upstairs, turning her peaceful world upside down.

Leo, the fun-loving jokester, Jenson, the cocky pretty boy, and Maverick, their intense and driven leader, are determined to make their mark on the struggling Iron Wolves. But when they discover their scent-matched mate living just below them, their focus shifts from the ice to winning Anya's heart.

Anya has never met alphas so patient and understanding of her silence. Could this be her chance to finally find the love and acceptance she craves? Or will the shadows of her past destroy her newfound hope?

Definitely better than the last book I read from this author, so that was a pleasant surprise. I did have a few issues with this book still though, similar to the previous book I read actually.

The first issue is that I found that Anya and her pack didn't actually get to know each other and develop a relationship on page. Nearly all interactions that they had in a binding sense were brushed off and not shown, so it lacked that proper development of feeling like they were in a cohesive relationship.

The second issue I had was with the steam. I'm not sure why the author would claim this was 4/5 on the steamy scale when on page she only showed full intimacy with one of the alphas, a couple scenes where they go down on her, one where she gets fingered, and then when there's actually intimacy shown with the other pack members it's fade to black before it actually finishes. So I would give that maybe 2/5 at best on the steamy scale and a 1000/10 on the annoyance scale.

I went into this blind. I didn't know this was a scarred heroine with a tragic past. By the title, I was maybe expecting something with a bit of guy humor. Instead, I got a story with a lot of scars, a lot of healing, and a lot of heart.

The couple: Leo/Jensen/Maverick and Anya

Romance trope: omegaverse; rh
Series: Puck You Omegaverse
Length: 155 pages

Plot: Anya has been traumatized in the past by a pack of alphas and has made it her mission to stay away from any and all packs. But then a pack moves into the apartment upstairs and she realizes that they are her scent matches. And of course she's about to go into heat. Can she trust them? She wants to but her experiences have not been kind.

Commentary: This was a rather short, sweet story with alphas who will do whatever it takes to make sure their omega is well taken care of in all ways. I loved how they were able to take care of her without stripping her agency.

Next book in the series: Puck Your Nanny

Did not enjoy 😕

⭐️⭐️ 2 Stars

🌶️ 1/5 Spice

Puck Your Neighbor was my first book by author Sara Vincent and unfortunately it’ll be my last. As an avid OV reader (it’s one of my favorite genres) it’s clear to me that this author doesn’t fully understand OV lore or hasn’t read it themselves. I really don’t like to give spoilers, but feel it’s warranted here. I’ve never read an OV before where the alpha and omega are separate entities. It almost read like a shifter book which threw me off. Also, I don’t like that the FMC gets one knot during her first heat. Would have made sense if this was a M/F or if they other pack members weren’t around, but they are. It’s almost like the author decided not to write anymore of her first heat. Huge disappointment. I also didn’t enjoy how the book ended. It left a lot to be desired for me as a reader.

⚠️alcohol and drug use are in this book with NO trigger warning⚠️

I went into this book really looking forward to it. The premise seemed very promising and the first chapter is a good opener when we see how terrified Anya is of alphas.
Ugh but this book has too many issues.

I would like to point out that the author takes the time to make note that she tried not to include dark themes, but also did not outline that drug use and alcohol are both used and referenced in the book. For me, this isn't triggering but it's something I can't relate to with characters in books, however I can see someone going into this book thinking it's "trigger free" and then running into that snag.

There is so. much. dialog to tell us what happened instead of showing us. Again, I feel the root problem of this forced storytelling of the backstory is purely because the book is meant to be lighter while having dark background themes - unfortunately, at least in the way it's currently written, this does not work well. It means the characters feel lifeless, they explain everything out loud, or overly describe things that don't need to be described (an example is one of the characters explaining in dialog the effects of alpha contraception, I can deduce from it being contraception that it does what it says on the tin).

Okay but the book was a 3 star for me. Until we got to the heat part of the book. They have ONE (1) SCENE where the alphas help Anya and then it skips the rest of the heat. I don't think we actually even see any of them except for one alpha have sex with Anya, it's just a lot of getting her off (which we love, thank you) and her just sort of kind of saying she's helping the other two out with her hands/mouth... if we're doing RH omegaverse, please can we at least have them have sex separately if they don't wanna share?! Or at least see some kind of actual connection between them?

Leo was obviously the author's comfort character for Anya. Maverick who honestly took my interest from the beginning since he's the leader, has barely any moments whatsoever.
There's no personal learning of each other aside from some fast tracked word vomit to explain backstory. There's no real tender moments for them to connect. No drawn out, well built intimacy or sex.

The fundamental detail of Anya having survived something awful has the same issue as mentioned earlier, is that the author intended this book to be light and soft while keeping a dark background that you don't see much of. But again, this can't work. It means we have no real feel of what happened to Anya, we just see it said in dialog or small bits of exposition and it's not enough to make you sympathise with her.

And again, problem with the same as the above, the ending is the same. There should have been a warning for that at the start and there isn't. For those that want a warning :.

And the unironic use of "alphaholes" more than once was a bit of a turn off for me. This book could have used with some much more descriptive material, more of a wordcount, more moments of connection between characters, and abandon the idea of making the book both dark and soft without triggers, it doesn't feel like it works with the backstory given to Anya and it feels void considering two major things that occur in the book COULD be triggers and aren't outlined in the author's note at the beginning.

In the authors note the author says “I want to keep my books fairly low angst and trigger free” but then literally has the characters going to an execution as the epilogue with no warning at the beginning of the book (there’s also drug and alcohol use, again with no warning but that seems like nothing compared to AN ON PAGE EXECUTION). That’s insane. Also, call me a blue haired liberal but I just don’t think the death penalty is good or cool. Idk man. But that is a major factor in my rating. Not even just because I disagree with the authors views on the subject, just because what the actual fuck.

Also in the authors note, the author rated the spice of the book 4-5, but really the sex scenes are short, and don’t describe a lot of the actual sex. The bonding scene? Horrible. Basically it’s “they bite me and it feels amazing” then the chapter ends, and the next one starts in the middle of a hockey game. Bffr. Please. Both of the smutty scenes are like this, it’s mainly just the very beginnings of the act then fades to black with none of the fun aftermath fluff. I know trying to rate how smutty a book is is very subjective, but still, I think this wasn’t very spicy.

I also just didn’t buy that the main character who is extremely traumatized would completely trust three random men after a month of knowing them. I know with omegaverse and fated mates books instalust is easy to excuse because biology or whatever, but you’d still think a month is a wee bit short. I know the author wants to keep it low angst, but trauma isn’t something you can resolve that quick (I know it’s technically been ten years, but she’s pretty much completely isolated herself that whole time and hasn’t been around people enough to properly work out her boundaries, triggers etc). When people are put into new and scary situation, they often do regress, or have rough patches and that’s totally normal and fine! Being basically healed in a month is just unrealistic and honestly kind of annoying.

My final gripe with this book is something I can’t quite put my finger on, but it’s about the actual sentences/ word choices in the writing. It felt very stilted, with random words or phrases that felt very formal almost, and just stuck out like sore thumbs.

🏒 Touch Her and Melt—Three Alphas, One Quiet Omega, and All the Feels

Let me tell you—I picked this one up thinking, “Alright, just a little spicy filler between heavier reads,” and next thing I know? I’m nesting right along with Anya and mentally calling dibs on the grumpy alpha with the protective streak a mile wide. Puck Your Neighbor gave me way more than I bargained for in the best, low-angst, high-heat kind of way.

Anya is a mute omega who just wants peace, quiet, and to be left alone with her art and her scars. I felt her in my soul—just trying to exist without getting swallowed by past pain. Then upstairs comes stomping three ridiculously hot hockey-playing alphas, and everything changes.

Leo, Jensen, and Maverick? Holy found-family fantasy. Each one brings something different to the table—charm, heat, comfort, protection—but together, they make a pack that just feels right. They aren’t here to save her; they’re here to see her. And that kind of patience? That steady warmth? It’s exactly what Anya needs—and exactly what made me fall head over heels.

This book has that perfect balance of cozy and carnal. One second you’re swooning over nest-building and soft touches, the next you’re fanning yourself because damn, these boys do not play around when it comes to claiming what’s theirs. And when I say “Touch her and die”? These men mean it.

If you love Omegaverse with all the trimmings—scent-matched mates, knotting, nesting, hurt/comfort, and found family—but don’t want to drown in drama or angst, Puck Your Neighbor is exactly what you need. I smiled, I blushed, and I kind of want to reread it already. Plus, the promise of more from this spicy, hockey-fueled world? Yeah, sign me all the way up.

definition of a sweet nothing

I don’t mean in a bad way necessarily (thus the 3 stars rather than 2).
When someone talks about a lover whispering sweet nothings into your ear, it’s lovely. It’s….nice. But it’s also unremarkable. So unremarkable that we’ve coined a phrase that captures the thing without actually defining or describing it. And that is this book.
The writing is well done. Grammar is more than adequate and misspellings are fairly rare. Characters feel like they MIGHT have depth to them…but we wouldn’t really know because we don’t actually get to see it. The author mentions that she intended for this to be low-angst and it certainly is that…but I think she over-shot the mark and removed anything hinting at conflict whatsoever. There’s a moment where the FMC is at war with herself and then she just…caves. And after that, there’s no more build up. There are no obstacles for the characters to overcome. We don’t even get to actually SEE them falling in love. I was shocked when the FMC “came to the realization” that she was in love with the guys. How did she fall in love? What made her fall in love with them? Because they cared enough to be respectful of her boundaries and mindful of her trauma when they realized who she was to them and what she may have been through? That’s….bare minimum in a “sweet romance”, isn’t it? I mean, green flag, of course, but it’s not a reason to FALL IN LOVE with someone.
Anyway. I felt like there could have been a plot here. I felt like the characters COULD have had depth to them. But none of it was actually present. I feel a bit like I was given a tofu burger when I wanted a cheeseburger. I wasn’t looking for fancy…and I’m not knocking vegetarian cuisine…but I read heterosexual romance for the MEAT of a story and it just wasn’t there. So. Good enough for light, no-fuss, quick read. But little-to-no-substance. A sweet nothing.

The last book I read, I DNFed because it was way too long with nothing happening. This book had the opposite problem: way too much story and over too fast.

I took a star off for that, because it told and didn't show a lot, but the story was an entertaining way to spend an hour.

Anya, the FMC, was left scarred and mute in a brutal pre-book attack. I have a huge soft spot for mute heroines, so I loved her right away.

Her scent matches temporarily move into the apartment above her and they have some sweet interactions, although the building of their actual relationship was all glossed over, which was a bummer.

The guys themselves are all hockey players - as a massive fan of hockey and (American) football, I love a good sports romance. They weren't overly layered characters, but the book is only a bit over 100 pages, so I don't expect miracles. Leo, in particular, and his early friendship with her was my favorite.

A star off for being overly rushed, even for a novella, given the subject matter (even though the plot was great! Just rushed) and a half star off for some grammar and formatting issues (not many, but enough to notice), but I round up for the sake of rating.

It's short, it's sweet - if you go in expecting that and a lot of fluff without a ton of substance, it's an entertaining read. I'm not going to seek out this author's backlist, but I also won't mind stumbling across her books in the future, when I'm in a novella mood.

This book surprised me in all the best ways. From the very beginning, I appreciated the author’s care in addressing readers’ mental health and wondered how the lack of heavy exposition might impact the story. Sara Vincent found the perfect balance—offering just enough backstory to ground me while letting the present action shine.

The pacing was excellent, and even as someone who isn’t deeply familiar with hockey, I was entertained. The four points of view created a layered experience that kept me turning pages. One of my favorite aspects was how American Sign Language was woven into the narrative. The male leads’ willingness to learn ASL in order to connect more fully with the heroine wasn’t just a storytelling choice—it was a deeply relational one. It showed respect, patience, and love in ways that felt both heartwarming and real.

What really stood out to me was how the dynamics within the reverse harem were handled. Too often, books in this trope gloss over jealousy or longing, but here, one of the trio admits to feeling the ache of wanting more one-on-one time. That vulnerability made the relationship dynamics feel authentic rather than formulaic.

Anya’s growth as a character is a standout element. She begins as someone defined by her trauma and slowly steps into her own strength and agency. By the end, her arc feels whole and deeply satisfying, giving the story not just heat but also heart.

For readers who love reverse harem, omegaverse, and emotional depth with their spice, this book will absolutely satisfy. It’s tender, it’s fierce, and it’s affirming of how love, respect, and effort can transform intimacy.

✨ Spice: 4/5
✨ HEA: 5/5
✨ Overall: 5/5.

First of all, I thought the love story portion was very sweet. The three alphas, Maverick, Leo, and Jenson, are very clear that she’s in control because to them, consent is key. That’s so hot. There’s spice and knotting and triple sexytime (MFMM, no MM), and heats. And of course, nesting. Anya is the survivor of a violent attack that is only implied except for some of her scar$ and her having been left for unalive. The author is careful not to go into detail, so as not to trigger; it’s generally alluded to and most of it is in how she reacts to alphas. Her reactions are pretty SA/DV survivor classic, which may be triggering in and of itself.
The other potential trigger is a YMMV situation. One of her attackers, who has been imprisoned on unalive row, has his state-performed unaliving punishment carried out, and it’s detailed. Just be aware.
The story was a little deeper than your typical contemporary Omegaverse romance, with her emotional journey. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating is because I feel that the three men were not distinct enough characters. Sadly, this happens so often in RH. The heroine is the focus here, and the men are just too alike. I did like the hockey angle a lot. So good book, could have been better.

"I'm so sorry you had to deal with alphas like that in your past. Everyone deserves respect and consent. It's just human decency."
'Before I can think about it, I reach out and pull him into a hug. He hesitates for only a second before wrapping his arms around me and holding me close. The pressure from the hug seems to ease some of my nervousness, and the best way I can describe it is it feels as if I'm home for the first time in my life.'

I really enjoyed this book. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved Anya and the three guys Leo, Maverick, and Jenson. Anya had suffered trauma from years ago and had her walls up. The guys were sweet, understanding, and patient with her; understanding that she needed things at her own pace and they wanted her to not only feel comfortable with them but come to trust them. I also liked that she was mute- sad that it was from trauma rather than birth- and it made her more unique over the usual omegaverse heroines.

This is the first story I've read by this author and I would read more.

Anya enjoys her quiet life as an artist and only wants to be left alone to heal. Yet when three hot Alphas move into the apartment above hers, she loses her peace. Not only are they noisy, they're scent matched. Anya tries to hide her Omega scent from them, but when the pack discovers her, they are determined to make her theirs. Yet will she open herself to having a pack and being loved or will she lock the door forever?

This was a light and fast-paced contemporary reverse harem Omegaverse romance. Anya had my sympathy from the start. After some horrible trauma in her past, she was made mute. Alphas scare her and I detested the landlady for letting them move in. Yet the pack turns out to be just what Anya needs. There are a few steamy scenes, but it's not incredibly spicy. The hockey bits were done well and so were the artistic ones for Anya. Good for a quick read if you enjoy hockey Omegaverse romance.

This had my beloved Omegaverse and hockey in it so it was an automatic read for me plus I love this author. It was a shorter read and I felt like I needed another chapter or two at the end for closure for Anya but that was my own personal “need to know more”. This had a unique character in Anya wasn’t mute because she was born that way but because of her trauma. I don’t think I’ve read any where it was a chosen path. But my heart hurt for Anya when her past all came out but I loved how even though they didn’t know her, Leo, Jenson and Maverick all instinctively knew to tread lightly around her. I loved the storyline and how Anya gave them some focus and the omega that they wanted and they were in turn were a refuge for Anya during her nightmares of reliving her past trauma. The guys were all different and basically were like pieces of a puzzle that just all clicked together once Anya was in the picture. Spice wasn’t over the top but just enough for most.

First of all.. it was a decent read. It was (very) short and sweet.

There were quite a few hockey scenes if you're here for that. It kind of took center stage in my opinion which was too bad because the book was already sooo short and then the hockey scenes took up too much of it in my opinion.

Overall... super anticlimatic... In fact there wasn't any real climax. Considering Anya's past you would think there would be a little more excitement or even a little more healing from her trauma with the help of the alphas. This felt more like an epilogue.. the what happens after when they are ready to move on.

I would love to get a longer version of this with just... more of everything.. except the hockey stuff there was plenty of that. I could also do without the smoking because it just came off weird being a way to escape stuff..

Okay

The story isn't bad, it's not that I really have any negative feelings about it or the writer who created it. But you know how you can sometimes read a book and everything about it is perfectly fine but despite having nothing negative to say it's not hitting that inner book itch for you because it wasn't quite what you were craving as a reader at that moment? That's where this book falls for me. It's just not catching any of my feels the way it's meant and I honestly think it's a me thing because I don't actually have any complaints about the story. I can't tell you I didn't like such and such or this thing really impressed me it's just kind of an eh not bad but not it feeling. Maybe in a different mood I'd have had stronger feeling in one direction or the other about the story but all I can tell you is I just don't.

This book had such a great premise but fell short of what it could have been.
I honestly thought about dnfing while I read the author note, as the sentence structure was quite jarring and didn’t mesh. But alas I preserved and probably shouldn’t have.
I’m a big hockey fan and also love romance based on trauma so really enjoyed this book up until her first heat. Then it was simply a dumpster fire.
I think all my issues would be solved if the book was just LONGER!!! Like why is this done so half assed??.
Annoying points:
- are heats once a month? Cause that seams absolutely wild to me.
- more sex happened off page than on. 2 sex scenes is simply ridiculous.
- no discussion of bonds on a deeper level. Why did the first ones fail when nobody died?
- no way do players celebrate with partners before their teammates. Crazy shit.
- pacing of entire novella was inconsistent as shit.

Another fantastic read by Sara Vincent. The characters in this story and they way they interact are well thought out. Anya just wants life to leave her alone to heal from an extreme tragedy that happened 10 years ago changing her life forever and taking her voice away from her. Leo, Jensen and Maverick can't understand their instant attraction to the woman in the downstairs apartment but thank goodness they are good men who are understanding and want to help her. The way Sara portrays these characters and their incredible understanding of healing and trust is amazing. Even with the heavy subject this is a lightweight and enjoyable read that leaves lasting fells.

This was a fast-paced story that has a pack of three amazing Alpha’s, Maverick, Leo, and Jenson, who are working hard to become the best in hockey and the hockey scenes are done nicely for edge of your seat action. It also has its sad and emotional moments with Anya, an omega who is having to deal with PTSD, anxiety, fear and the heavy burden of being mute. This story is one that just keeps giving. It makes you smile, swoon, melt, cry, and get mad but what good book doesn’t! This is a book you want to start when you have all day to sit and read because once you start you won’t want to put it down.

This is not my typical genre but I have read some that I enjoyed so I took a look. The thing that appealed to me was that it was going to be short and that it was supposed to be low angst.

Although it did deal with a MFC who has PTSD, it overall moved forward and the backward looks were not overwhelming. Some parts could be triggering but I don't think it was too much.

I liked the characters and wished the four of them well.

This is one of those circumstances that something may seem like a stressful thing but it works out wonderfully in the end.

Why choose/ omegaverse/ knotting/ forced proximity/ sports romance/ found family/ MFMM/ HEA

Trigger warning: abuse/ mutilation/ trauma/ PTSD/ drug use

This was good but it could have been longer. I also wish we had gotten more of a build up between the FMC and her MMCs relationship.

There could have been much more spice as well. The author said this would be a 4 out of 5 on the spice level but I would personally rate it more of a 2. It wasn’t bad but there definitely could have been more details. There were only really a few spicy scenes but the FMCs heat only got a few pages worth which was a bit of a let down

This was a good, short Omegaverse book.

Anya, the FMC, is an omega with a traumatic past. The book doesn’t go into specific details, but be sure to check your triggers just in case.

I really liked Anya. It was heart warming to watch her accept the love from her alphas after everything she had been through. The alphas were absolutely perfect. Each one met a specific need and made for the perfect pack.

Hoping we will see more of these hockey players in future books, especially Finn. I hope he gets his HEA, too!

Exactly as described, it's a good afternoon read. I'm a little disappointed that the author didn't make it a longer novel because the set up and plot points were there, i think we could have been given a more full and satisfying story but instead things felt a little rushed. It's hurt/comfort, where the character has trauma but there's really no angst or danger in the book. There's some time skips that keep the timeline technically somewhat believable, but I would have really enjoyed reading more of the relationship development.
