It's possible that there's a romance story buried in here, somewhere, with real characters and a through-line you could enjoy. I don't know about that. What I do know, is that by the 20% mark, I can't get a read on the emotional state of any of these characters because every single one of them hits the redzone any time the designated member of the opposite sex comes within range. I mean, Katrina drops doors, flings paint, and a sofa catapults her into Josh's lap all because she's having palpitat ...more
Dr. Josh Stanton’s move to Medicine River County, to a town called Bear Paw comes from the need to quickly pay off his student loans. The move from Chicago hadn’t come easy for Josh. The relationship that he has just gotten out of, after being burnt from the brunt of it all doesn’t make it any easier to bear. Josh comes from a family of prestigious surgeons. The fact that he had chosen to specialize in ER medicine and lands in a town which requires he divide his time between the clinic and the E ...more

Montana Actually by Fiona's Lowe is a first reads win and I'm giving my honest opinion. Katrina broke off a relationship with a surgeon who never told her he was married with children Kat was a nurse at a hospital in Philadelphia. She loved her job. She decided to move home to Bear Paw. She had bought a cottage and rented it out until she was ready to move back. She was painting the walls with her ear buds in and never heard Josh Stanton knock. He walked in startled her and she accidentally knoc ...more

Quickie Review:

Well that was a pretty nice start to the series. My favorite bit was the secondary storyline/romance that omg I so wish had it's very own full book. It was lovely and sweet <3 Definitely looking forward to more from the series. I didn't totally love the ending on this one but overall it was a nice easy read that kept me coming back for more, surprised me a couple times, had me bawling in a couple spots, smiling in others and whew def
This one was just dull & boring where I didn't care for the characters. Hell for most of the book h/H felt hung-up over their past relationships, h with her lying secretly married surgeon ex and H with his money obsessed ex-fiancee. I didn't feel h/H had any spark at all.

Bear Paw…might as well be the the thorn stuck in Dr. Josh’s paw, this small town was nothing that he expected it to be, yet finds himself curious about small town life.
Katrina McCade is running back to her hometown to nurse some wounds, and to stay away from lying, deceitful doctors. Helping her family out on the ranch is a great way to help her heal her bruised heart, until her family starts to

Montana Actually by Fiona Lowe is the first in the Medicine River romance series. I hope it is a long-lasting series because the first book is really good.

Katrina McCade has returned to Bear Paw, Montana, after being away for about eight years. She has returned after a break-up and has decided that she needs to stay away from men, especially doctors. Although she is a nurse, she does not have any plans to continue that

Actual Rating is 3.5 Stars.

I went into this with rather high expectations as it was stated in the blurb that fans of Robyn Carr and Sheryl Woods would enjoy this book. While I have yet to read a Sheryl Woods book, I have read many, many, many Robyn Carr books and I LOVE them. So whenever you make statements such as that they better follow through and I’m happy enough to report that it would appeal to fans of Carr.

I am attracted to stories that are set in small towns and this setting is such. A

I'll be reading more of Fiona Lowe's "Montana" Series. The characters were well-developed. I was vested in their lives and choices. Even the minor characters were interesting and some were really funny! I loved the story of Josh and Katrina, the story of Beau and Shannon, and the story of Bonnie and Kurt. A teaser chapter of the next novel was at the end of the book; rest-assured, I'll be waiting for that book in July!

Lovely writer, wonderful book. The secondary romance is just as compelling as Josh and Katrina's. Humor, tears, challenging medical sequences, the book has it all. Recommended read.
Reviewed here first:

I have to admit, the whole small town vs. big city doctor theme presented in the blurb drew me in, and from the first scene with Josh Stanton arriving in the middle of nowhere town of Bear Paw, Montana, I knew that it was going to be interesting and humorous. And it was! We also get a secondary bonus romance in this one.

Dr. Josh Stanton and his fiance had a plan which she seemed to be on board with, until it was time to execute a move

It took me a while to really get into this book, and unfortunately in the end it was just an okay read. I think what really threw me off was the fact that there were two stories in the book.

We have Josh and Katrina, the main characters, but we also have several parts in Beau's (Katrina's brother) and Shannon's (her boss) POV. I actually enjoyed the side romance more than the main one, but I hated that as soon as I finally got into Josh and Katrina's story it would switch to Beau and Shannon. If

What a great story! I'm a sucker for small town romance, medical romance and cowboys and this book has it all! I was immediately pulled into the story within a few paragraphs.
I loved Josh! He's H.O.T. and funny, and I loved his meet cute with Katrina. I laughed out loud!
Katrina is a great heroine and I really liked her. I liked her strength and her no-nonsense attitude, especially at the beginning, when she's trying to stay away from Josh.
I loved their constant banter and the chemistry that's s

I'm not entirely sure where I stand with this book. Parts of it I adored, parts of I hated, and parts of it I liked.

I won't go into too much detail as this is a fairly new book but suffice it to say I didn't feel that it should have been a two couple book.

You get Katrina (I do not like that name) and Josh and then you get Beau and Shannon. Honestly, I liked Beau and Shannon far better than I liked Katrina and Josh and there were a few times I wished that they were the main couple.

But dammit, the

Katrina McCade has come back home to Bear Paw, Montana, to heal her broken heart amidst her loving family. With a less-than-stellar romantic track record, Katrina is happy to spend her time far from anything that reminds her of the mistakes that she's made, especially good-looking doctors with smooth lines and hidden agendas. For Josh Stanton, coming to Bear Paw as the interim ER doctor/GP is nothing more than the fastest way to get out from under his mountain of debt from medical school. A city ...more

Hallelujah, I made it through. One of my notes said, "This book is populated with idiots," and normally I'd leave it there, but I think our readers would like more. So this book kicks off the new Medicine River series, and Montana Actually is a mixed bag of romance and family drama. The family drama was done well. I wish I could say as much for the romance.

When Bear Paw, Montana needs a doctor, Chicagoan Josh Stanton answers the call in order to make and save money to pay down his student loans.

Là-bas, trois surprises l'attendent. L

Reasons I wanted to read Montana Actually: 1) It takes place in Montana. I would hope so, since it's in the title, but you never know. Okay, that's my main reason. I'm personally still trying to get use to Montana. I wasn't born and bred there, and still learning to embrace the charms that come from living in Montana. Now you know the reasoning behind reading Montana Actually, I might as well dive into what I liked about the story or the things that jumped out at me.

Fiona Lowe’s MONTANA ACTUALLY is the first book in her new Medicine River romance series, and while there were some elements of this book that I quite enjoyed, there were others that made it a difficult read for me overall.

A new series from an author I have enjoyed reading previously. I love the backdrop this series brings, the beautiful state of Montana with amazing characters that contribute to a wonderful romance.

Katrina is back home again after an embarrassing discovery, something she is not ready to talk about, her boyfriend of eight months was married and she never knew. She especially does not want anything to do with men, specifically those that are in the medical profession. Although she is a nurse, she w

Fiona Lowe serves up another treat for lovers of contemporary romances that combine humor, a picturesque setting, and layered external and emotional challenges without the sticky sweetness that can show up in a small town romance.

Montana Actually is the first in a series set in Bear Paw, Montana, a fictional town nestled in the mountains near a national park. Our hero is Dr. Josh Stanton who’s moved to Bear Paw for a few years so that he can pay off his medical school loans. It’s apparent from
