4 Stars!

When I sat down to read this book, I really expected a light, fluffy romance. I expected to read a book about people frolicking on the beach simply because of the cover. I ended up being completely wrong about what this book was going to be because it ended up being so much more than I expected. In fact, this book was absolutely excellent. I love reading about second chance romances and this was an excellent exa

I think it’s time for a trip to the beach. I didn't even read the full synopsis when I saw Meet Me at the Beach. I was mostly lured in by the cover since I’m in need of some beach time. It paid off though, because this book was delightful.

Aiden is 32 and living the dream as a MLB star. Growing up with an abusive father, he couldn’t get away from Seashell Bay fast enough when he turned 18. He never looked back. Except … Aiden was recently cut from his team and his career is in limbo. To top

I've been a fan of V.K. Sykes for awhile now (love their Philadelphia Patriots series), so of course I jumped at the chance to read and review their new book, Meet Me at the Beach. I gotta say, they did not disappoint. V.K. has a knack for writing well-developed characters that you can't help but fall in love with. They also have the knack for lovable, yet very sexy, baseball players. Meet Me at the Beach is a second chance romance between L

I really liked the story-line, it was well written with great flow and easy to read. Always partial to a story that takes place in Maine (my home state) and this one had my full attention from start to finish. Maine is truly a beautiful state with it's four seasons, especially the small islands off the coast are unique and gorgeous. The people are fiercely loyal, friendly (although some are cautiously suspicious of outsiders) and are extraordinarily hard working! The characters were believable a ...more

Lily and Aiden were each others first loves. They drifted apart. Life got in the way. When Aiden and Lily unexpectedly meet again the sparks are still there. What happens next is anyone's guess. I loved this book. The characters held my attention throughout the book. Did not want the story to end. Excellent read. Was gifted an ARC of Meet Me at the Beach for an honest review.

Time and distance sometimes aren't enough to make a heart forget where home really is.

I didn't fault Aiden's reason for leaving Seashell Bay. Sure, his baseball career may have seemed like the main reason, but his not-so-great home life also played a part in his leaving. Abuse at the hands of a parent is never an easy thing to handle. Walking away when you can almost always seems like the most logical thing to do. But in walking away, Aiden left behind three people who meant the world to him: hi

Full disclosure: I received this autographed novel as a Shelf Awareness Book Buzz giveaway, but that in no way affects this review.

The contemporary romance of baseball player Aiden Flynn and lobster fisherman (person) Lily Doyle is a Romeo and Juliet story that has a happy ending. Ultimately, it is not a tragic tale, but it has many of the elements of the original for these (somewhat) star-crossed lovers with the feuding families.

Aiden reluctantly returns to the small island where he grew up, b

Lily has been working the Lobster boats for 15 years. She has no desire to leave Seashell Bay. Aiden left the island the day after hs graduation and returned once for his mother's funeral. Now he's back to sell the family land and "ruin" the island. A wonderful love story set in a town I would love to live in the summer. This is book one in a series and there are lots of folks in town that deserve their own book. A nice read on a cold day since it's hot.

What a great surprise this romance turned out to be! I was expecting a light summer read, but this romance is a very well written, emotionally intense read. I found it hard to believe that the hero and heroine could find their HEA when I started this book and yet the author pulled it off in a very believable way. Looking forward to more in this series by this author.

The Seashell Bay series begins with an emotional story proving exactly how choices can either lead to lasting happiness or possibly cause lifelong misery. Two people must choose whether to listen to their hearts or go along with the thinking of others. From the time this couple reconnects to final decision making is shown with intense feelings and lots of inner turmoil. Genuine emotions plus intriguing characters make MEET ME AT THE BEACH constantly enjoyable, and V. K. Sykes always keeps the re ...more

Set on a quaint island off the coast of Maine where lobster fishing is the primary industry and residents are hardy New England folk, this is a rich, meaty, well-written story of choices, second chances, community, dysfunctional family, life cross-roads, lucrative development vs preservation of tradition, forgiveness, compromise and the complexity, heartache, and ultimate joy of love offered and accepted.

This is a really good start to a new series. Second chance romance is one of my favorite troupe and add in a small town/island and I'm hooked.
Lily Doyle and Aiden Flynn had a sweet romance as teenagers they were like Romeo and Juliet both coming from feuding families. Lily grow up in a loving family and Aiden with the love of his mother and the fist of his father. Aiden could not wait to leave Seashell Island as soon as he could and Lily couldn't see living anywhere else. Aiden left to pursue a

Just the book to make me forget that it was 20 outside and that they are calling for freezing rain yet again. Instead of thinking about the fact that I really need to carry in yet another load of wood for the wood-stove, I'm piled up next to it pretending that the radiant heat is from the summer sun and I have a frosty margarita in my hand instead of a cup of coffee.
I love second chance romances so throw in the beach (although as a girl used to the sandy southern beaches can the seashore in Mai

If you enjoy sappy romances you might like this book, but for me it was just too sappy. She’s thin and beautiful, he’s got a six pack you can bounce a quarter off, they’re both good at everything they do and things just fall into place for them.

Lily is the darling of the island, everyone loves her and all the men look out for her. That right away repelled me. She had no flaws, physically or

Here are again in a small town of Seashell Bay. As a first book in the series, Meet Me At The Beach does a good job of introducing us to Seashell Bay, to its residents, and to the general vibe of the series. From third book alone, we already have a vague idea of what to expect on the next installments.

I like the easy, lazy feel of this book. Its a perfect read when your lounging by the beach or the p

I loved every minute of this book. I loved the interaction between Lily and Aiden. Sparks flying between the two of them. Great cast of characters that work so well together. I really hated to see the book end.

I would say this one was more like 3.5 stars. It was a bit slow in spots and it seemed like Lily spent most of the time talking about how hot Aidan's body is. It grew repetitive and the book could've been about 40 pages shorter.

Solid read. I would have liked some background on the feud that infused so much of this book. I thought it was odd that so much time was spent on Aiden’s background and family drama, but very little on Lily’s. Felt a little lopsided in that respect. But I very much liked both characters.

Initially drawn to this story because of the setting and the richness to be found there. V.K. Sykes has brought a sense of coastal Maine in this story with her fictional island of Seashell Bay, in what felt like a cross between Deer Isle and Peaks Island, the setting is well established as are some of the more peculiar ‘phrases’ common to Mainers. The addition of lobster fishing with its effect on the people and economy added another layer to the story, as did the ‘out of staters’ there for summ ...more

Aiden Flynn left Seashell Bay 14 years ago for a Major League career, returning only once, briefly, for his beloved Mother's funeral. Now he is forced to return, his career questionable, to deal with his abusive father and spiraling brother. The Flynn men each inherited a part of a prime coastal piece of land that developers are willing to pay to get their hands on. Aiden wants to make his decision, and get on with his life, never to see his Father or Seashell Bay, again.

Meet Me At The Beach is an all encompassing story about relationships, community and second chances with a couple of strong main characters. Aiden is facing unexpected changes in his life reluctantly. A reluctant return to his small home town brings him back to Lily and the memories he has of her. Lily is living the life she has always wanted to, and she has mixed feelings about Aiden's temporary return. Lily and Aiden were never really high school sweethearts per say, but had a fling when they were in high school. Aiden, a professional baseball player goes back to the island that he grew up on once his career takes a different direction and when his eyes land on Lily once again, there is no stopping him this time. It was nice to see that these two still had eyes for each other after years of being apart.

That being said, I have loved VK Sykes's series Philadelphia Patriots. I had great hopes for her new series on Seashell Bay. My hopes have been dimmed with this first installment. I am hoping for the rest of the series to be a little better now that the backstory has been established.
