This is the prequel to 'Laces and Lace' and is included inside that book as well as in the anthology 'Seduced by the 'Game'
In Tangled in the Laces, Karson King is on the fast track to the NHL. Lacey Martin is coming back from a hard fight against cancer and is terrified of him but the attraction is too much to ignore. Soon their love is so intense, neither of them see the rest of their lives without the other. Will Karson prove that he will protect her heart at all costs, or will he leave Lacey to pick up the pieces of her life once again?
My name is Toni aleo and I'm a #PredHead, #sherrio, #potterhead, and part of the #familybusiness!
I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a wrestler and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Phoebe, Gaston el Papillon & Winston.
You can usually find me hollering for the whole Nashville Predators since I'll never give my heart to one player again. When I'm not in the gym getting swole, I'm usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality or being a taxi for my kids. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney and anything that sparkles! I'm pretty sure I was Belle in a past life and if I could be on any show it would be supernatural so I can hunt with Sam and Dean.
I read this in a great anthology featuring hockey romance stories that was put together as a fundraiser for cancer charity. Toni Aleo's story was my favorite, but it was too short, and I hated the ending!! I cannot wait for Laces and Lace to come out and wrap this storyline up!!
God what an amazing prequel. I went from giggling to having my heart broken in a thousand pieces in approximately 10 pages. Can't wait to read the full length novel and see what the future reserve for these two.
I am so glad there was a novella for Lacey and Karsen before we got into their story. It is much needed back story. I have to say I was a bit surprised at how soft and caring Karsen was right from the start with Lacey. I knew something was off with her brother and father, and when my hunch was confirmed, I was so angry at them. My heart was breaking for both Lacey and Karsen as Karsen was given an ultimatum that changed both of their lives forever.
Can't wait to see how they rectify what happen sin their full length story!!
Short but very sweet, Karson saw Lacey and that was all he needed to fall. Lacey pushes him away every chance she could, until he finally won her over. They had an amazing two months before it all fell apart when Karson was told to break it off or his future would be destroyed. Lacey takes it as he can't deal with the look of her body after she had breast cancer. Can't wait to see where this story is heading and what the future holds for them.
I love these two soooo much, I can't wait to read the whole book about them!! Their love is crazy strong and I love how Karson too so much effort to win over Lacey!
This is a lovely yet heartbreaking prequel of Karson and Lacey's story. I highly recommend reading it before reading their story. It's beautifully written and heartbreaking all at the same time.
Didn’t need this short story, Author had everything in the main book and that was a great read. Nice change from the last two novels I skimmed through to “finish”.
This is the brief prequel novella to Laces and Lace. It chronicles the first part of Lacey and Karson's relationship in college, starting with the moment Karson laid eyes on her and ending with him saying goodbye. This story is included at the beginning of the Audible version of Laces and Lace, though is is not necessary to have read this in order to understand and enjoy that book.
“You’re so confident,” she said, shaking her head, a grin pulling at her lips. “Yeah, because I know what I want, and when I want something as bad as I want you, I know I’ll do anything to keep it.” “I admire that about you.” “Good… because I’ve never been in love, and I want to do this right. I want to do you right. I read once that being someone’s first love is great, but to be their last is beyond perfect. I want that with you, and I don’t care how crazy that sounds.” Looking away, she pulled in a deep breath before looking back at him. “You scare me shitless, Karson King, because I have decided to trust you. I hope to God that everything you say will be true, because cancer broke me in to a billion pieces, and I’m just now putting that all back together. Picking all those pieces up again would be the hardest thing I would ever have do, so please don’t break me.” Cupping her face, he leaned in, running his nose along hers before he whispered, “There won’t be any pieces to pick up because I’m not breaking you. I’ll hold you together. You’ll never face anything without me right there. I’ll be there until the end. I promise you that.” “I trust you.” That was all he needed to hear.
Necesito leer el libro completo yayaya!!
Esta cosa que tiene Toni acerca de todos estos calientes jugadores de hockey siendo tan tiernos y enamorándose a primera vista tan intensamente...
Tangled in the Laces is the prequel to Laces and Lace and provided important background. It's also included in the Laces and Lace book.
For a short story this prequel had it all. A well-written story that gives answers to all of your questions? Definitely yes. Well developed, well-written characters that make you feel everything from hope to hopelessness? Absolutely! A palpable attraction that makes the pages smoke? For sure.
Lacey battled cancer and won. It left her with emotional scars, as well as physical ones. So, when her brother's teammate the talented and cocky Karson turns his attention to her she fights the attraction with everything she has. When she loses that fight her life changes forever. Karson is everything that her tender ego needed. He loved her no matter the scars she carried. In fact, her strength made him love her that much more.
It all falls apart in the blink of an eye. Karson shreds her heart and we're left with a heartbroken and confused Lacey. Even more heart wrenching is the pain and helplessness that Karson is left to deal with.
I loved this prequel couldn't put it down. Karson King and his best friend Grady Martin are great hockey players and they are getting ready to play infront of scouts for the big leagues. Lacey Martin is Grady's younger sister and when they were both real young they lost their mom to breast cancer and a year ago Lacey had a double mastectomy. Karson saw Lacey at one of their practices and after that day he couldn't stop thinking about her and wanted to date her, but Lacey didn't want anything to do with him because she was afraid to fall for him and then when he saw her body he would leave her and break her heart. After dating for a couple of months Karson and Lacey made plans to always be together, but when his coach who is Grady and Lacey's father hears that Lacey is planning to leave with Karson after the draft he threatens to ruin his career unless he breaks up with her.
This novella was great. Lacey wants her life back after her battle with cancer, but has mental and physical scars from the fight. Karson is her brother's friend and relentless pursues her until she can't do anything but give into the attraction and chemistry she feels every time she is around him. Karson soothes the parts of her mind that thinks no man will ever find her attractive again after her battle with cancer. He is oh so loving, sweet and tender with her. Their relationship seems like there is no where for it to go but up. But then her father and brother have something different to say about that. It was a great novella that got me amped up to read Laces and Lace, I could hardly wait for it to come out after getting a preview of their story.
Why the hell did I not read the blurb properly and realize that this was just a prequel..... I got to the end and cursed up a storm through the tears streaming down my face.... Oh my hell I want Karson and Lacey's book like now.....If I have to wait for 2015, I might have a litter of kittens..... I want answers damn it, and I want them now..... And her $%^*&& father better pay for what he did....I want justice I tell you!!!!!
Ms Aleo that was one hell of a prequel, I cannot wait to read the rest.....bring it!!!
