Juan Vizquel and Victor Fortrey have been together for a long time. Victor is a sweet man but hides it well. Most people see him as cold and distant, but Juan knows better. He is given a powerful reminder when an accident on the space station where they live and work leaves Juan temporarily helpless. Victor steps in, becoming Juan’s hero in some very unexpected ways.

I get what the author was trying to do here, I really do, but it backfired with me. I found this boring and mundane. It was just too short to be profound and heartfelt.

I'm a hopeless romantic, through and through, but Always Plan Ahead didn't work for me and I can't in good conscious recommend it to my fellow GR friends.

"Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the…" Wait. Back up. Wrong. Yes, Juan and Victor are in space, but it's not fiction, it's their life. It is the twenty-second century and a research facility exists between the Earth and the Moon. Mainly to manufacture, test, and release high powered telescopes out to far reaching areas of the galaxy. Man has conquered the Moon and people live there, although mostly they are scientists and research specialists.

Short and sweet, with a large side of humor, this is a story about "two geeks in space". Juan and Victor are both extremely qualified for their jobs, and with Victor, an engineer with a PhD, designing the telescopes for Juan, an astronomer with a PhD, to use for his deep-space research projects, they are a perfect fit.
