Reading Burdened was like my worst nightmare coming to life. It had everything that I don't appreciate in books. Burdened had an under-developed story line that seemed to be going so slow that it bored the hell out of me.

The MC Tracey Warren was very annoying; and I've read 49% of the book so it's not like she magically matured after the 20% mark. And the love interest--Nathan Newcomb--hit her with his car, took her to the hospital, took her home, featured in her racy dreams, fell in

I thought the premise of this book was interesting. Unfortunately, I had a hard time connecting to the characters and staying into the story. Part of that was because of the lack of contractions and formal speech for high school kids and the other part was Glen and Scott. There was just too much focus on them for me and frankly, I didn’t care. I wanted to get to know Tracey and Nathan and see their story but every time I turned around, Glen and Scott were there too. Burdened is the first book in the New Adult series of the same name. I had such high hopes for Burdened. I thought the cover was pretty and creepy at the same time- perfect for the paranormal element of the story, and I thought the summary had lots of potential to unique and very interesting. I love stories involving being mated to someone. I thought this would be right up my alley, but I think by this point you are

Tracey Warren is an average high school student whose just looking to have fun with her friends as she counts down the days to her graduation. Tracey's life goes from hum drum to exciting when she gets rear ended by a sexy stranger on her way home from school. One touch from Nathan Newcomb leaves Tracey with a physical craving for him that can only be satisfied when he is in her proximity. Tracey finds herself thinking about him all of the time and the two share an attraction that neither
Burdened is a beautiful, entertaining, dark, deep, smart, and funny paranormal romance novel. The prologue is the best I've ever read and just perfect for this novel. Here it is:

The love I have can last a lifetime alone, in the darkness waiting for the mate of love to return to the side of a lonely heart. But I cannot wait long past tomorrow to hold you, hear you, and see you in my arms. Without my arms wrapped around you, our bodies wound within one another. There is no darkness emptier then I
I got 30% into his book and I just can't finish it...

It's from Tracy's POV and its just annoying to be in her head.. I know it's a NA read but sometimes they can surprise you.. This one didn't... Tracy claims she trust Nathan and accepts his life style but questions everything... She just became annoying.. She knew he couldn't tell her everything but gets mad that he doesn't.. Bratty female characters drive me crazy... Him not being human was fine but the story behind it just didn't make sense

Wow, I was surprised by this book. At first I wasn’t sure what to think but it was interesting. It started off slow for me but once both these characters met I was pulled back into the story and was very much into finding out what was going to happen.

Both of these two, Nathan and Tracey, hit it off right from the start after she got hit by his car. Don’t worry, she was in her own car so it wasn’t that bad but of course she blacks out literally from his touch

Review: I want to say thanks to Xpresso Book Tours and Netgalley for letting read this book for exchange of an honest review. To be honest this was a fairly good book. I had this book on my currently reading shelf for ever and I just started and finish it today. When it first started I had the vibe of the Significance by Shelly Crane. I loved that book but this book seemed to had and climbing point then it just dropped off and left things dragging out. It got boring around

This book had potential for the storyline but it just didn't pan out for me. There were too many unnecessary details that did not need to be included. It is supposed to be about Tracey and Nathan falling in love and having to deal with people wanting to kill Nathan because he is part Demon. Some exes of Nathan's show up at his door at different times and it was deja vu reading the scenes. It did not add anything to the story. Don't even get me started on Glen and Scott. Lord have mercy they are ...more
Even if I could get over the utter shallowness of all the girls in this book the writing was unbelievably awkward. 70% of what i managed to read was just unnecessarily detailed descriptions of every single character we met even if they served no purpose...and we met a lot of characters in the 30 pages before i quit. Second the dialogue was...just not good. On one end of the spectrum there's the valley girl drivel "omg do you think he likes me" "totes"-these aren't actual quotes but you get my dr ...more

I was allowed a copy of this book via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I am huge fan of paranormal and romance. Mix the two together and it is the best chocolate sundae ever, with a cherry on top. Having said that, I am always a little hesitant to pick up paranormal books because I find that much of the time they are terrible. However, Burdened is a diamond find. I loved all of the paranormal aspects. I enjoyed the dialogue among charcters and the different ways in which they communi ...more

DNF - 42%

As much as it pains me (since I usually try to push through some books I did not fully enjoy), I did not finish this book. I'll admit, I was intrigued by the cover and the description was promising, but there were a few things that irked me or did not make sense.

***spoilers ahead, you've been warned***

*also since I didn't finish it, my review isn't complete*

The book starts off as the typical Mary Sue - the damsel in distress as her car gets hit by the incredibly hot and mysterious new
Four Times Broken and I did not really get along. However, I think some people may still enjoy it as a quick paranormal romance read.

My main issue is that it's very heavy on the YA Paranormal tropes, even in just the first few chapters, which is something that I do not enjoy and felt kind of forced too. It has super-duper-insta-love, a 'bad boy' love-interest that went from hot to cold in a matter of a few sentences, and a bit too many villains/problems for just the first book in a series.

This story has that certain something that makes it intriguing on a few levels. Great cover which addresses the target audience effectively. I liked the internal graphics too. On the surface it looks professionally put together. Unfortunately, while there is great potential here, my overall evaluation of this title is that it is really under-cooked. Quite simply, what we have here is a very rough diamond that needs a lot of editing in order to bring it to industry standard,

I started to dislike Burdened right from the start but I made a promise to myself to continue reading it at least till the 100th page in the hopes of it warming up to me. As a result, it started to annoy me more and more with each page. Well, at least I tried.

This book is a typical romanticized portrayal of an abusive relationship we see all the time in NA romance books, except here the reader is supposed to accept all this because of supernatural nature of MCs love interest. Wel

Burdened starts out very mysteriously in the beginning and a little slow at first, but as the book progresses things got more interesting. I liked the spark of interest that ignited between Tracy and Nathan, and I also liked the hot and cold attitude Nathan had towards Tracey. It was infuriating but it was very entertaining. It also keeps you guessing what will happen next. Tracy is sassy and headstrong which I love in a character. She is a strong heroine that can stand on her own. Nathan is mys ...more

Interesting paranormal story with demon and mate. I love these kinds of stories, where you find the ordinary girl next door and the sexy newcomer that hide strange secrets that meet and fall in love instantly. Peiri Ann gives the readers a new kind of YA Paranormal Romance with a lot of action, sensuality and danger at every corner.

Nathan and Tracey meets under weird circumstances, but then everything will change for both of them. Nathan is a burdened Sephlem, one kind of a demon that mates for
ARC provided by the publisher through Netgalley.

Oh my God, this book was awful!
I had to literally force myself to finish this book.
First of all, it was never explained what a Sephlem is or how they came to be. All Nathan tells us is:
"I never cared enough about our history to know how the hell we got here and why, I just know I exist."

Also, the plot moved sooo sloooowly, after one third of the book there are signs of a plot moving forward but most of the time it's just Nathan and Tracey inte

I completely got lost in this book. Tracey is a typical high school senior. She and her best friend Glen are planning to go to a big party and both have 'crushes' on guys that goes beyond the norm. Nathan isn't your average guy, but when he runs into Tracey (literally), their lives intertwine and they become pulled to each other. Tracey doesn't understand it but Nathan does and tries to, at least somewhat, avoid it. His family is different and has secrets and if Tracey chooses to be with him, it ...more

I was not a fan of this book. It suffered by being both too much and not enough.

The story had promise, but there was too much of the same tug of war between Tracey & Nathan, and not enough of them actually doing anything. Cuddling, painful yearning, hanging out at each other's houses, and worrying about not being able to do those things is not a fulfilling plot. Just as actual events started happening, the book ended.

Tracey was WAY too insipid and there was not nearly enough of her doing any
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Burdened started off with such promise for a New Adult novel. The instant connection between the main characters started off with a natural paranormal feel. And then it was like the author stopped listening to her characters and forced them instead. There was a rollercoaster of oh my yes this good to hmm WTH with the overall flow of the storyline and interaction between characters. As a general read I enjoyed the book. I wou

I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. I have to say I was very surprise with Burdened by Peiri Ann. The beginning of the story was a little slow for me and I though I was flat out not going to like it or get bored but I was sooo wrong. I quickly fell in love with this book. The characters, the relationships, the authors writing style. It was hard to put it down. This is the first book that I've purchased on my kindle, I usually go for the free ones, and I do not regret it.

I will read this one over and over again. I'm highly anticipating the second book in the series. I've read the promo chapter and a half she has on her blog and I'm dying to read Tainted! I can't wait to see how Tracey and Nathan's relationship ends up

Review: (I received a copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review)

This book was completely addicting. The second I started it, I found myself not wanting to put it down. The author created a unique storyline that is unlike anything I have read before. She took the time to develop a plot line that extended beyond the two main characters and because of that, you find yourself sucked into their world.

The only concern I had was that some of the conversations didn't really flow. The way t

This was an interesting book, good, but interesting. It started out slow and I thought it might be a DNF for me, really I was almost to the point of putting it down when I decided to give it a few more pages. Then I got sucked in. The characters are well written just wish the details would be more pronounced. All in all I liked it, wish it didn't start out slow or it would have gotten a better star rating.

The beginning of the book pulled me in. Nathan and Tracey have that insta-love thing going on. But thats where the book lost me. I couldn't get past the back and forth of being "in love and wondering if he really loves me". Love plot it just the story line was all over the place.
Burdened (A Burdened Novel #1)

Tracey Warren is a ‘run-of-the-mill’ high school student on the verge of
graduation. She has her friends and her fun; she has life all figured
out. Or she thought she did.
Her pedestrian reality crashes around
her after an innocuous touch from a diabolically handsome stranger. Just
one touch from Nathan Newcomb and her head and her world spins out of
control. Soon she discovers that the only cure for the uneasy feelings
and pain is Nathan himself. A man whose very exist
The plot of this book is all over the place. Everything was fine up until about halfway through, when basically everything was resolved. After that, random people kept appearing to cause trouble for no apparent reason. Scott and his girl were incredibly annoying. The main characters were okay. The story was fine if unoriginal, but nothing in it pulled me in. Also, it should have just ended when everything was resolved. There was no reason for it to drag on after that. Also, there was this really ...more

I enjoy the story even if I didn't like the characters. Although there was things that was never explained. But it was also never explained to Tracey for us to find out.
The writing is good . Also some of the conversations seem a little forced, especially every time Tracey's dad speaks.
