This was really good, and more than addressed all my issues with the first volume.

It's a hefty omnibus, compiling the two volumes it took to finish out the "sequel," and I'm very glad that it was given this much space to unfold. It has everything I love: massive amounts of communication, arguments that're based in real insecurities and unresolved issues in the relationship, and a wrench in the works that does not in any way turn into a rival love interest.

Futami ended up being a fun character, precisely because he wasn't any sort of romantic foil for either of them. He was just a good dude who'd genuinely liked and respected Yotsuya as a friend and role model, and who felt frustrated and jealous that Yotsuya paid so much more attention to his high school friend and current coworker than he did to Futami, who'd been his college friend! and also his coworker!

His reaction once Shitou snaps and reveals they're dating is to simultaneously want to know more about it, express that he was totally cool with it and why wouldn't anyone be, and back off from his attempted rivalry with Shitou, now that he understood why he was so much closer to Yotsuya. He doesn't want to be remotely involved in their dating life, but he does want to keep hanging out as friends and colleagues. I like him a lot for that.

(It also reminds me of a time back in college when I felt really hurt that two female classmates I'd considered friends were actively prioritizing each other over any time they spent with me. And then I found out they'd started dating. Which really made any hurt and jealousy dissipate immediately. Oh. In that case...we're fine then. I get you, Futami.)

Overall, I just really loved all the storytelling in this volume. A fantastic balance of communication, squabbles, spicy scenes that showed the development of their emotional bond, and significant emotional growth for both of them.

When Zen finally lists some of the things he loves about Ryo, one of them is that he likes himself best when he's with Ryo. It's why they'd started dating to begin with, but it's also the thing I like best about their relationship: they truly push each other to be their best selves.

The whole rivalry thing makes a lot more sense in this volume, too, and becomes a core part of their relationship and their personalities. It's cute to see them turning little things into competitions, even something like who's going to love the other one the most.

I think I'll enjoy the first volume more after having read this one. That's a pleasant change from what I've been running into lately, which is promising first volumes that kind of flop on a second pass.

This was so sweet and good. I loved that they have a lot of common sense and the fights and misunderstanding are not half-baked but they do still mess up. I love their little childish rivalry fights. They are a lovely couple and the writing and translation is top-notch.

This series isn't very well identified in terms of volumes, so it's difficult to tell what is what in the bookstore, other than that this omnibus is clearly a thicker volume than the other book. Otherwise, the covers and title all remain the same for the other versions that were physically in stock, adding to the confusion.

Ryo and Zen were rivals clear back to their high school days. What Zen didn't know was that Ryo was pinning for him even back then. It takes their first trip together for Ryo to learn that Zen may have been waiting for him to call even back then. It's amusing how these two are so close and are often the spotlights of office gossip, and yet somehow they manage to stay entirely under the radar. At least one person in the office is in the know, but only after causing a lot of trouble and being told outright. It seems in general, the office thinks that even if the boys have mellowed, they would never get along, even if they were married. Interesting given their personal contests seem to be how they thrive and communicate with each other. It's also interesting to see how they deal with trust and jealousy issues, which are typically even more common when your relationship is hidden. For all of Zen's complaining, it would seem that at least when they are together, their physical relationship is more than healthy. In that regard, their future plans could either go really well or really wrong given their schedules and how quickly they tend to fall together.

First I gotta say that this is the length every bl volume needs to be, this felt soooo chunky and good to read. The satisfaction of knowing I had read 100 pages and still had sooo much more to go, absolutely loved it. This is my new gold standard lmao.

Yeah this series is incredible idk what to say. It does everything right and I’m so sad the author is done writing stories for these two for now. Genuinely so obsessed with the realistic ups and downs of their relationship, their insecurities and worst parts of themselves manifesting and they persist nonetheless because they know their love for each other is true. Goddamn.

The only critique of the actual story I had was the weird time skip? Or at least, I think it was a time skip? Idk maybe I’m just stupid as shit, I had to read the last chapter twice to make sure I understood what was happening. It didn’t really feel like a time skip happened, and their living situation was confusing me because of that too, and they said they got the rings after their trip so does that mean they hadn’t gone on a trip in the past year? Unless they talked about rings on another trip off screen after their time skip. It’s just weird. Idk maybe I can blame the translation. But because of this the conclusion to me didn’t hit super hard, which was a little disappointing. Loved the fact they got engaged tho, tho also wish they had addressed that… can they even get married at the time this is set in Japan? Also doesn’t that mean they’d kinda have to come out to their coworkers? Idk maybe they could still keep it under wraps. SEE, THERES MORE STORY TO TELL PLEASE GIVE US ANOTHER VOLUME PLEASE I BEG !!!!

Oh also that one bonus chapter at the end disgusted me. Another reason the ending to this mega-volume felt a bit like a let down after how amazing the whole series has been.

I love the progression of these two guys throughout this story. The art is also dropdead gorgeous. I could see myself rereading this story many times. It would’ve been 5 stars if not for the extremely weird and out of place bonus story of Ryo as a teenager and Zen being grown. I get that it was a dream but I found it to serve no purpose and also I hate when there is teenage fantasy in stories it always grosses me out. Just glad nothing really happened there.

I'm so delighted to see one of my favorite manga brought to a wider English reading audience!! The relationship between the two leads is so beautiful I love how they both love so differently but still feel so passionately for each other. A fantastic finale! I hope this leads to more works by this mangaka getting an English release!

This almost felt a little too long and yeah it is two in one, but idk it just dragged out a bit and got a little boring and I was just waiting for it to wrap up. I don't really think the first one necessarily needed a sequel, but the ending of this was sweet and established their relationship a little more so I didn't dislike it.

“Being worthy of a relationship with someone requires both parties to be on equal footing.” ~Shitou Zen

The best quote of the whole book. This one was a much longer read than the previous manga. Lots of smut and fan service for the readers! The office romance rivalry continues to play out and it does well to capture their flirty dumb banters. Overall, an entertaining BL.

i hope to see a sequel as i was left anticipated for more, but unfortunately had to lower my rating simply because of the bonus chapter. i do not support pedophilia nor do i feel comfortable with the idea of a character kissing their partner as a child. Really embarrassing that they decided to do this after the series was going along well.

When I first read this series I fell in love instantly. Both Zen and Ryo hold a special place in my heart, from being the two most stubborn people ever to both being so competitive that they fall for each other. This story is funny and romantic and the art work is great.

Loved this and hopefully the author gets a chance to write more about these 2 (*T^T)

It was a lot of fluff, some miscommunication and ofc smut, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Also really loved the bonus chapters (*≧ω≦)

honestly a dissapointing continuation to a really good first volume, full of miscommunication and drama,it also dragged out the plot for no reason at all (the first volume wrapped up things nicely so yeah). This made me dislike the characters🥲

This is such a fun series, and in this volume I particularly love the growth of Zen and Ryo as a couple (they are just a couple of cutie pies🫶). I really adore the art style as well.
