Perfectly Imperfect

An emotional standalone about a city girl and a country boy...

I live by certain rules:
1. My career comes first.
2. No sleepovers, just sex.
3. Never let the heart get involved.
4. Leave the past where it belongs.

I won't break these rules for anyone. Not even the charming cowboy that danced his way into my life with that sexy, southern drawl. I see glimpses of a familiar pain in Grayson's eyes, but all we can offer each other is a temporary escape.

No strings, that's what we agreed on. So, why does it feel different with him?

I'm shattering my rules, one by one, until what's left is a mess of emotions and broken hearts. Grayson wants more from me, but I'm not sure I can give him my body ... and my heart.

I love romances that where the couple challenge each other. This story was the cutest that I've read in while. I enjoy reading books where the couple take the time to get to know each other and learn to love one another, because that's how it usually is in real life!. Now most books we read have a lot to do with opposites attracting, This one is different, and I like it!

"Two Peas in a Pod"

Mia's relationship with her mother has not been the best growing up. Because of her Mother leaving her at such a young age, she has built up her walls protecting her from being hurt and hurting others. She rarely lets others in to care for her and her strong personality helps to keep those who try to penetrate her walls out. Her best friend Steph is the only person who knows what Mia ha been through and help to guide Mia through her runaway thoughts.

"Don't worry about being a gentleman. I am not looking for one, although a hot cowboy I wouldn't mind. You know what they say, save a horse ride a cowboy."

Grayson is not from the area. He sticks out in the Portland crowd, with his tall-muscular build, cowboy boots, and southern drawl. He isn't looking to get involved with anyone, but as soon as he spots Mia dancing the night away at Luxe, he is drawn to her. He finds Mia to be a breath of fresh air. But guarded as well.

Drawn together by a connection neither one is ready for, they face many different obstacles. From Mia's running and her crazy ex. To Grayson's past and him trying to rush the relationship. Neither of them understand the feelings they are feeling and afraid to get hurt.

I enjoyed this book. It had me all over the place. There were time when I would be reading with a huge smile on my face and other times when I would get so mad at Mia. She wasn't my favorite character, because of her unwillingness to try and her making the same excuses and mistakes over and over! I loved reading about Steph and Kyle. I hope we get to read their story soon!!

Having been hurt by her ex-boyfriend and issues with her mother, Mia makes a promise to herself to never allow anyone close enough to matter. She prefers one night stands with simple rules. No personal connections. No Sleepovers. Sex only and go home. Well some rules are made to be broken. When Mia meets Grayson she tries to treat him like her past conquests. No attachments but Grayson doesn't play by those rules. He slowly shows Mia that he's different and that he wants more than a sexual relationship. He wants all of Mia. Over time Mia lowers her walls that she built around her heart and attempts to let Grayson in. Mia struggles with her new found feelings and must decide if she will allow Grayson to become much more to her or revert back to her old habits with men. This was an interesting read for me. I enjoyed the book but I found myself liking Grayson more in the story. He had issues of his own to deal with but he was open to moving on. I think he deserved a new beginning maybe a little more than Mia did. Overall this was a good story of self discovery and second chances.

Nothing makes me smile like a cowboy hero with a heart of gold. This debut novel is a delightful old school style romance with the sizzle turned up, giving a page turning freshness to the contemporary novel and tossing in a cowboy in a perfectly balanced blend of genres: contemporary romance and cowboy romance. It has everything romance readers crave. Conflict~a girl troubled and unable to trust. Hope~a hero who is to good to let go of. Mistakes~girl running and trying to ruin her life. Triumph~girl realizing there is no place to run. It takes the traditional theme of "love conquers all" and wraps it in a story unique and new for our modern times. Reminding us of the age old standard of why we love the romance novel: the journey to find love and a life partner is a universal quest, regardless of past, human weakness, errors and doubts.

This is a beautifully written story that left me all smile at the end. New themes in the classic tradition of the romance novel. This is not one of those stale been there read that kind of novels. I would highly recommend this book. Bravo. Well done.

10588846_10105329365994644_1806261562_nPerfectly Imperfect is a book by an author I get the pleasure of featuring as an Indie Author in a few weeks. After talking with her and reading about her book, I was interested in the premise and was ballsy enough to ask Fabiola Francisco if she'd gift me with an ARC for review. She was kind enough to say yes.
I can't say that I loved it, but I did like it. It has interesting, complex characters and a plot that definitely veers from typical. There are some editing and grammar issues, though nothing that really took away from the story. My main issue was more that the book is told in first person and it didn't quite feel like the inside of someone's head to me.
However, for a first book from an independent author, I thought it showed great initiative and I would read more from Fabiola.

Overall Rating: 3.5 stars- Worth a few minutes before bedtime.
Mia is a strong, successful woman rising in her career. She has her best friend, Steph, by her side, and a taste for party and men. She also carries the burden of her past on her shoulders.

That is until she meets Grayson, and he throws her off balance, causing her to feel emotions she's hidden under the surface for a very long time.

Will she be able to finally open her heart to someone and blossom, or will her past continue to haunt her and keep her sheltered under the murky waters of those memories?

Perfectly Imperfect is told from Mia's POV. Mia is pretty much the IM in imperfect. I liked her. she made me laugh a lot. She's definitely the kind of person I would like to be friends with. But man, sometimes I just wanted to throttle her. I seemed to like her in spite of how completely screwed up she is. Let's just say she's got "issues."
"We'll see about that, Cowboy Casanova. You're going to start messing with my game if I keep taking you home."

Grayson is pretty friggin' hot. I mean, he's got demons, too, but he seems to be dealing with his a whole lot better than Mia. He has the patience of a saint in putting up with Mia which makes you sort of fall in love with him as the story goes along. And he's awesome in bed. The smut is top-notch.
"I can drink and fuck anytime. Don't be so stubborn."

This isn't a pretty love story. Mia is seriously messed up. She self-medicates her demons with meaningless sex and that doesn't stop even after Grayson comes into her life. If you don't like books with cheating, consider yourself warned. While I wouldn't call it cheating, it definitely pushes the boundaries of it. Mia doesn't make promises to anyone, but that doesn't keep her from hurting the people around her.
"Don't wast your time with me, Grayson. I'm broken."
"I'm broken too. Isn't that peachy two broken peas in a pod. I'll tape you up, if you tape me up."

The story moves very quickly. Perfectly Imperfect isn't a long book. Truthfully, I think it probably could use a little more fleshing out. The way it's written, sometimes we get more telling than showing, particularly because we are "inside" Mia's head. The first person narration usually appeals to me, but it didn't quite flow for me here. As odd as it may sound, Mia speaks too clearly. Most people don't think in complete sentences, or use proper words. I suppose it's written a little too correctly.
"Please Mia let me have you."

However, as an author's first book, I think it's an excellent effort. There is nothing within my complaints that would keep me from reading another book by Fabiola and I think she has a bright future in writing. I can't recommend this as a must-read, but I won't say avoid it either. If you're looking for a new author or a non-traditional romance, this might be right up your alley.
"I'd rather have hard with you than easy with someone else."

Smut Factor: 4 stars- Smokin’ Hot!
Character likability: 4 stars- I wish we were friends.
Storytelling: 3 stars- It could happen
Writing and editing quality: 3 stars- A few errors, but nothing that took away from the story.

The Perfectly Unexpected Romantic Read! What a fantastic debut novel from Fabiola Francisco! What I loved most about this story is that it was real and relatable, nothing was sugar coated. With our heroine, Mia, you find she has some major hangups and serious emotional issues. {Who doesn't?} Following Mia's personal journey, she begins to grow stronger emotionally and even spiritually {not religiously}, eventually finding her inner peace and balance. Without giving away too much, I will just say that Francisco did an excellent job with character development.

Grayson, our leading man, is also a damaged soul. He is the perfect combination of sexy and sweet. There is no hidden agenda where his feelings for Mia are concerned. Grayson says what he means, and means what he says. His patience and adoration for Mia will make you fall in love with this sexy cowboy faster than you can say, "Well butter my biscuit!"

These two are the perfect pair and the sex scenes are... hot, hot, hot!

Grab this book if you're looking for something unique - a real and emotionally raw romance! Bravo Fabiola! I look forward to reading more of your stories!

Perfectly Imperfect is perfect. A thought provoking, well written romance on true love, and how it is not always pretty, perfect or without flaws when two people fall for one another.

Both Mia and Grayson have been stung by both their parents and young love. Now they live an fun life, hopping from bed to bed until they meet each other. While their connection is instant, Grayson pushes a fearful Mia through the storm.

Grayson, who is the absolute perfect mix of bad boy and sweet. A cowboy, no less, Grayson is tough and infallible on the outside, but shows us his softer inside. He is not cheesy, but rather - real, and perfect in his imperfection.

Mia, a woman who hides behind her big career, learns to make amends with her past, so she can move forward at the sometimes rough, other times gentle hand of Grayson.

Oh, did I mention the sex is smoking hot?
It is.

These two are a dynamic, hot pair.

The story is not complete without pain and ups and downs, but the epilogue is "perfect."

We have all been there. Our past dictating our unpredictable future. What happens when we meet the person who challenges us to reevaluate our lives? What happens when this person tests our ability to think a different way, breaking us out of our stubbornness? My goodness. I cannot even begin to describe how remarkable Perfectly Imperfect is! I felt the author sat me down and gave me a metaphorical slap in the face. I loved every second I spent reading this book. I don't know how to write a review but I'm trying harder because every woman and man out there should read this book. Wow. My heart. Sometimes it takes a slap in the face or lose to realize what you really needed in your life was sitting right in front of you. Brava Fabiola Francisco.

My heart.

Well done. Brava.

Mia and Grayson were 2 similar but opposite in other ways. It was a real treat to be able to read this story and see how they both grew and flourished with the help and love from the other person. Even when they didn't want to admit to that love. They needed each other more than they realized. Lovely story! Jen

This book was an emotional roller coaster! I have never wanted to slap and root for a main character more than I did Mia!

Mia is career driven and relationship avoiding. She just wants easy with no heart or feelings involved. She doesn't do relationships because she's afraid of repeating her parent's mistakes.

Grayson is a cowboy who took a job opportunity in the city. He meets Mia and is instantly drawn to her and quickly finds himself wanting more but it's uncharted territory for him too since he doesn't do relationships either.

Will Mia wake up and realize what she wants before it too late?

Fabiola made me ugly cry during this book, just a FYI

A wonderful read about moving past your fears, and giving love a chance! This story is so well written, it will have you devouring the pages.

Mia has been hurt by people in her life, and it has caused her to push people away. She feels she can’t love anyone, and she will hurt them. In walks sexy cowboy Grayson, who want’s it all with Mia. He made his way into Mia’s heart, and made me swoon. Their chemistry is undeniable and I was rooting for them the whole way.

This is a story of a love worth taking a chance on. An angst filled, must read!

This story was the most honest account of relationships that I have read this year. The heroine Mia is your average party girl who always having drinks and sex. Good times, good times. But with all the good times, she is lonely and needs more, than the good times.

One evening while Mia is at the club she meets Grayson, who happens to be her kindred spirit. When reading this book, you will find that these two souls are made for each other, similar to Plato’s’ theory of the bellybutton. Well if you haven’t heard the story before, here it is (bet you did not think you would be getting a philosophers story while reading a review on this book). Once upon a time… LOL.

Two people who were made for each other (physically, mentally, and spiritually were conjoined. Their love for one another was so great that they were separated per the gods request. (I know heartless bastards). After they were separated, Apollo, sowed their bodies up, only to leave a bellybutton so they could once again find their soul mate. The humans lived in angst, searching to find their soul mate. Through misery, with hope to see their soul mate again.

Grayson and Mia are my version of this concept. They were both two hurt, lost souls. When they meet they feel their powerful connection to one another. They feel something different, than the numbing of their life from meaningless sex. They have found one another. Two peas in a pod. Yet, Mia is resistant to this connection. She only wants sex from him. Per Mia, “Save a horse, ride a cowboy.” The question is will Mia let her past go and be with her soul mate.

Grayson by far is so profoundly awesome. He has this realness about him. He is so vocal of what he wants and if this had some bondage in it, I might call him a Dom in the making. Though he acquiesces to Mia on many occasions and is patient with her fears, like her knows himself, he only did this to keep her near. His devotion for her was off the charts.

The supporting characters did a wonderful job and their words were powerful and help to guide Mia and Grayson’s story along beautifully. All the characters were so real.

Overall, I was pleased with this story and the graphics.

P.S. I would love to get Steph’s story. She is so insightful but briefly displays her fears.

Perfectly Imperfect is a delightful debut novel filled with a fantastic blend of true-to-life struggles, and sweet and sexy romance. We thoroughly enjoyed Mia and Grayson’s story. Both fraught with complex pasts that have shaped who they are, Mia and Grayson come together in a whirlwind romance, both trying desperately to forge ahead despite their fears and reservations for what the future may hold.

The main question…does the past dictate our future? Herein lies the root core of this charming story - two broken people coming together to create something perfect. We all know that it is beyond our ability to change the past, yet many of us continue to allow it to hold us within its grasp, fearful of repeating the same mistakes. In Perfectly Imperfect, you are whisked away right along with these characters as they navigate through their desire for love and normalcy despite their ever-present fears – the past pulling on the strings, away from giving into what they want. Need. Love. Until they realize that as one, they can cut the ties that unbind them.

“Separately we were broken, but together we have managed to beautifully put all of our pieces together creating something beautiful.”

Get swept away as these two lovable characters learn to fight for their love, discarding all of their fears and doubts to create a classic love that’s simply…perfectly imperfect.

Who wants perfect?, Is there such a thing as perfect?, I think perfect would be boring, unlike this story that is anything but boring. From the very start of this read I knew it was my type of story. You think you will know what happens, that this read is perfectly predictable BUT it's perfectly NOT. I love it when the writer can really draw me into the story, I was most certainly hooked once I started reading. Great characters have been created for us to love and hate, Mia is not a trusting person, she does not date at all, well till Grayson comes along, he seems to have other ideas. I really loved Grayson's character, I shed tears while reading, also found myself smiling, let me tell you I went through quite a few emotions, shock was the biggest one, I mean literally shouting at my kindle saying "NO WAY, OMG NOOOO" I couldn't believe the turn of events that took place, if I am honest at first I hated it but it was perfectly Imperfect just as it was meant to be. I never like to give any spoilers out, so to find out why I was shocked and in tears you will have to read. I would recommend this book without hesitation. It's a fantastic read with humour and sadness. Thanks for sharing the perfectly Imperfect story Fabiola Francisco.

This book started off with Mia, Hooking up wti what ever tickled her fancy. Then one night she meets Greyson she think he is the next on her notch on the bed post. They make it back to her place and next thing she knows she crashed.Next morning Mia goes into the kitchen for coffee and there is Greyson. Mia is fun and smart and yes she loves some random hot sex but a lot of her pass caused her to put up these blocks.
This book was truly amazing it.. Had me crying one moment and giggling out loud the next moment. Perfect Imperfect was simply an amazing book that gave you true love in the rarest form. It made you hope that Mia let go of her fears and just head straight on loving Greyson. There was so much love, drama and even sizzling hot sex through out the who book it made me really appreciate How Perfect Imperfect is . Its okay to love a person for their perfections but don't try to get them to be anything but their perfect!!
I was so blown away with this book! At first i was hanging then it started to pick up and Then I was crying geez, I felt like a emotional roller coaster reading this book. But it was well worth read!!

This is an interesting book with unique pacing. Unlike some romance novels with only one pivotal moment, this one has several. In the epilogue, Grayson, the story’s hero, says, “The last year has been a hectic ride. Crazy ups and downs like a rollercoaster.” How right he was. This book takes the reader through quite the emotional journey.

Mia, the book’s heroine, is dealing with some serious hang-ups and issues with her past. She is damaged. There’s no doubt about that, and occasionally, I wanted to smack her for making terrible decisions (especially at those pivotal moments). But her imperfection makes her human and lends credibility to the story. Luckily, Mia has one smoking hot hero to help her deal with her issues. Grayson is dreamy and one can’t help but fall in love with him. He has some demons to deal with as well, but he’s loyal when it counts.

If you want a book that breaks from the tradition of sugar-coated fairy tales, this is the one for you. Real people come with baggage, and this author knows that. Her story paints a realistic portrait of two imperfect people working through their issues to find a perfect love.

Mia is a magazine writer and wanting to blow off some steam after work, meets Greyson at a club. There's an instant connection which freak her out since she doesn't do dates or relationships. She has severe emotional issues due to her upbringing.

Was not a fan of the writing quality or the plot. Writing isn't very sophisticated; at first I thought it needed an editor and a proofreader, but an editor might not be able to help this. It's also choppy and the chapter breaks don't make a whole lot of sense either.

While I felt the chemistry between the two, I couldn't connect with either character... and that was a result of the writing quality. Greyson has the makings of a great book boyfriend -- patient and willing to put up with her issues. Questionable behavior abounds here -- excessive drinking, using sex as a drug -- in a way -- and it is cheating when you sleep with a sleazy ex because the man you've been with, says he loves you and you can't say it back and you freeze him out. Good lord.

WOW! Just WOW!
Perfectly Imperfect is the debut novel by Fabiola Francisco.... and I don't why waited so long to read her books!?
It was a really beautiful and emotional story!
I liked Mia from the beginning and felt kind of connected to her while I read the book! I didn't have such a dark past than she had but... well everyone has to deal with some issues, right?!
It's not that easy to open up to people who care about you...
So I really liked Mia's development and her relationship to Grayson.
Oh my... let's talk about HIM! What a man! It was easy to fall in love with him as well... haha... wo doesn't love a hot cowboy?
They had to deal with good and bad things but in the end... well you'll see! ;) READ it guys! Seriously!
There's a lot of hoot scenes! But it's not just about the sex! You've to experience the great connection between Mia & Grayson!
Thank you so much for this story Fabiola! Can't wait to read more of your books! ♡

There are those authors that just get it. Life isn't perfect and neither are people. This author gets it and so do her characters. This is a hard story to read because of the emotional journey the characters have to take. They are imperfectly human in all of their flaws they find each other. When the past and their families and their baggage gets in the way it may be harder than they thought to move forward. Healing, love, heartache yeah that's life but for these two it's so much more.

I loved this story and this authors way with words. She writes stories that grab you spin you and spit yo out because they aren't the perfect pin up people they are human with issues. This author is always a great read but beware it is always an emotional read and somehow you will see some part of yourself in her characters. I love her and her characters and want a Grayson of my own. Broken, imperfect and all mine.

Love can save all

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. The blurb had me interested but I was still a bit uncertain. There were slow spots in the book but it was still very well written and as such I can only give it 4 stars, I would give it more if it didn't have the slow spots. Once you pass the slow spots and get into the nitty gritty of the book, it becomes a great contemporary romance story.

Grayson and Mia are both 'broken' and seeking to find their way in their new relationship when tragedy strikes just as things are already rocky, however out of the bad comes the good and they save things between themselves. While it's not a picture perfect relationship, it does mirror in some aspects what happens to all of us with our ups and downs.

In the end though, I did like this book, and I'm glad I received a copy for an honest review.

Absolutely a great debut novel by Fabiola Francisco. The way she creates such lifelike characters, it's as if you are standing right there watching everything unfold.

Mia and Grayson meet in a bar, both children of uncaring mothers and harboring mommy issues. Mia is not looking for any relationship. She's more of a love 'em and leave 'em type of gal. She's out with her best friend Steph and takes Grayson home with her. He starts wanting to go out with her, she resists because she just doesn't do this type of relationship. A series of events show her what she's gotten herself into.

Romance readers will absolutely love this cute love story. A ride filled with many emotions, Fabiola takes you on those ups and downs and gently lays you down to watch the ending.

I will definitely read more by this author in the future.

It was about 2.5 stars for me. There was so much dialogue going on in Mia's head, it was repetitive and long. I was not able to feel the connection between her and Grayson. They both have issues. Grayson's were far more devastating to a child, in my opinion, and he matured and overcame them. Mia has a very immature attitude about her past and almost refuses to overcome it. She psychoanalyzes herself, completely, which I found annoying. If someone knew so much of what was going on in their own psyche then they would lead a healthier life, a more balanced life. It was an honest account of a relationship which I liked. I felt there were some things left without closure, but nothing big. They were made to seem like big issues, then just glossed over. It was an ok read for me. I won a copy on a fb giveaway.

Such a great story. it was quite easy to get attached to these characters, especially sexy Grayson. Mia's views on love are so messed up. I have to admit to wanting to reach in the book and shake some sense into her, but I still loved her. The book is told from her POV so you really get an idea of just how imperfect she feels she is. There was a nice balance between the romance and the steamy sex. l always appreciate an Epilogue to completely tie things up and this one was told from Grayson's point of view which was a nice surprise. This book is definitely worth a read.

Perfectly Imperfect was so enjoyable, I had a difficult time putting it down! Between a sexy Southern cowboy that makes you swoon and a heroine who is damaged yet spunky I was hooked. It may just be me, but I found Mia to be quite humorous. Grayson just made my toes curl in a delicious way and I wanted to do dirty dirty things to him. Such an excellent debut by Fabiola Francisco, I can't wait to read more from her!

Boring. Predictable. Didn't like the heroine Mia at all. She wasn't likable or redeemable in any way.

The plot was okay, it had potential, despite being a tad predictable. However I believe it was a lackluster in character development. The writing was bland, but it also has potential.

Since there is potential, it will not keep me from reading more from this author.

Overall this book was okay. Recommended to anyone who is looking for an easy read.

Such a case of the feels

Mila and Grayson make you feel every bit of their story. I found myself crying along with Mia more than once. This book is so beautifully written that you feel as if these are your best friends living it out in front of you! You laugh , you cry, and I even found myself holding my breath wondering what Mia would do next. The only thing I was not happy about was when it was over I just wanted to keep being apart of it all.

*****4 2 Broken Peas In A Pod Stars*****

This was a great story about learning about yourself, learning to trust others and letting go. Grayson was amazing, loved him. Mia was stubborn, strong and determined to do things on her own and not make the mistakes that others have made. Together Grayson & Mia learn to trust, fall in love and find happiness.
