It was love at first sight for Pauline and Aiden, the cyborg once known by the designation AL16, with a happily ever after Pauline never expected to find on New Eden. But their love story comes to a horrifying end following an accident that leaves Aiden dead and Pauline’s heart shattered.
Hope returns when a new cyborg, AL17, is cloned, only to be dashed when he remembers nothing about Pauline, his fellow cyborgs, or New Eden. AL is humorless and robotic, the polar opposite of Aiden. Yet he’s still drawn to her for reasons he can’t explain, and Pauline can’t seem to keep herself away from him, either.
But there’s little time for them to explore their connection when a new threat to New Eden appears—and AL17 might be just the person to save the planet.

Pauline, the female human lead, was distraught when her partner, Aiden, a cyborg, died in a previous story in the series. She held onto hope that his clone, which the other cyborgs immediately started generating, would be like him and freshly distressed when AL17, the male cyborg lead, did not initially remember her, though she had been warned.
AL17 remembered that Pauline was present during his generation time but he had no particular memories of their previous interactions. But the longer he’s awake and aware, the more of Aiden’s memories come back to him.
He’s already pushed Pauline away. Can AL17 start a new relationship? Should he? And how will their relationship manage when he has to assist the other cyborgs in dealing with the newest threat to their homes?
This story is dual POV, well written, and appears to close a story arc in this cyborg/human sci fi romance series. The author notes that it is best read as part of the series and I agree. I enjoyed AL17’s development and the changes he made based on his incoming memories. I empathised with Pauline’s pain and enjoyed her willingness to keep trying for a relationship. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters and the way they worked together to resolve problems.

Cyborg Aiden and human Pauline were a couple who had been in love, but an accident caused Aiden’s death. He was cloned, but she was warned that the clone AL17 may not have Aiden’s memories. She had gone often to talk to AL17 during his generation period. But would he remember? He actually did recall that Pauline was there and talked to him, but he did not remember any other interactions. He could now begin to recognize her words, even if he didn’t grasp their meaning. They finally decided that Aiden’s memories were indeed gone. Would she give up on starting a relationship with him? Would he let her know as he began to remember more of Aiden’s memories? And when they can finally begin to see progress, how would she react to learn that he will be called upon to join the other cyborgs when a new and destructive threat is on its way?
This is the conclusion to this series and, like the others, was well written and told in dual POVs. I really loved this story, and I have to say that you should read this series in order. This is a story of love and hope and I really enjoyed as Al17's memories of his time with Pauline, as cyborg Aiden, came back. These two were meant to be together and I fretted that Pauline's pain wouldn't be dealt with, despite her determination to connect with him. Thankfully, she and Al17 do get their HEA in amongst the mystery, twists and danger. I've really enjoyed this entire series and really can't wait for what's next by this author. Well done!
Aiden and Pauline were the 1st couple to fall in love, but then Aiden dies. He's cloned but doesn't remember her.... A beautiful story about hope and love, their love is so strong that even death can't erase it. A good plot and world building with captivating characters. Special mention to the overarching plot that follows along the series with new elements being added and the mistery turns the story interesting.

Last book of the series and makes me a little sad to say goodbye to New Eden. But this hit the spot after me watching an existential space horror movie that still hasn’t left my brain meats.
This series is well written, pacing is good, world building is good. The mmc’s are all interesting in their own ways. I wish the spice were a more detailed.
I wouldn’t exactly call this cozy, because the town is comprised of struggling people, but their lot slowly gets better. It is small-town/ post apocalyptic-style romance with a definite sci fi flavor.
I love the name of this story. It works very well with the story. I am so glad that the cloning worked the way it did. With new tech to improve it. A surprising development happened. A happy one too. Excellent story. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The fourth and last book in a wonderful series about human settlers on a remote planet facing extinction and the cyborgs coming to their rescue. Great worldbuilding, fascinating characters and always a great plot with an HEA.
"She could not let herself think of such possibilities if she wanted to keep her heart from shattering again."
I can't believe this is the last book in the series. I've been with the Cyborgs and New Edeners since the beginning and I really feel connected to the people.
Jessica choose a great story to end it all with. Pauline and Aiden were the first couple to fall in love so it makes sense they would be the focus of this final book.
I actually cried in this book, something I hadn't done with any of the others. While I kind of wish we had been given some scenes of Aiden and Pauline from before, we did get enough memories and flashbacks to really understand and connect with them as a couple. My heart broke for Pauline when AL17 woke up and didn't know her, even though Connor tried so many times to explain that he wouldn't. It was painful to watch her interact with a man who looked exactly like the man she'd loved and lost. She was stronger than I would have been.
I think ending it with the naming ceremony of Tibbot's baby, the first newborn on New Eden in so many years, was touching and really showed the new, joint community they have all created. Every loose end was taken care of. No questions left unanswered. I personally would have loved an epilogue a few years out, just to see how everyone is doing, especially Hannah and Rhys's son, the first human/cyborg baby, but that's just me. Like I said, I didn't want it to end and I hated having to say goodbye.
