Cala Riley, better known as Cala and Riley, are a pair of friends with a deep seated love of books and writing. Both Cala and Riley are happily married and each have children, Cala with the four-legged kind while Riley has a mixture of both two-legged and four. While they live apart, that does not affect their connection. They are the true definition of family. What started as an idea that quickly turned into a full-length book and a bond that will never end.
Okay, Book 3 just became my new fave from the series! Jane’s trying to rebuild her life, Mac’s the hot biker/landlord next door, and suddenly I’m way more invested in their neighbourly tension than in my actual responsibilities. The kids are sweet, the danger keeps things interesting, and Mac’s “touch them and you d!e” energy is honestly the highlight. When Jane’s past shows up, Mac basically steps forward like, “Yeah, no, not happening,” and I melted a little.
Mac is not the only one obsessed this series is amazing and just keeps getting better and better.
Jane is on the run from an abusive husband who has much more power than she does. She is more than prepared to do whatever it takes to keep her kids safe.
When Mac's sister Bertha calls him asking if he would be willing to give Jane a safe place to land he agree's and so starts his obsession. He immediately feels the need to keep them all safe.
Cala does an amazing Job with Jane and the kids characters and the impacsts that DV has on a person. You are going to fall in love with Tanner and want to give him a big old hug.
This is a slow burn as both Mac and Jane need to come to turns with what they feel and heal from past wounds. Mac's handling of Jane and her kids is swoon worthy you are going to fall in love with all of then.
This one wasn't for me. This was the first book I've read from this author and I don't think the authors writing style is for me. It is a tell don't show style of writing with a very formulaic first, then, next, story telling style and it made it a little cheesy in my opinion. I also didn't like the dialogue. It was again really cheesy and there is no grown man who speaks the way these bikers speak. I read a lot of MC romance books (They are my favorite sub genre of book to read) and the way these bikers talk would be more fitting for 50 year old men that have a country club membership and it really took me out of this story.
This story is also very much insta love, and done in a very non believable way. Jane is immediately ok with Mac jumping in and being a father figure to her kids when she doesn't know this man at all and is currently running away from an abusive husband. Yes Mac does the bare minimum of a father and Jane's bar is extremely low, but there is never a world in which I would immediately jump into this kind of relationship this quickly cause that just gives the kids whiplash if it doesn't work out. The eight year old boy is lying to his friends and telling them this stranger is his father and the mom thinks it's sweet????? I'm sorry, what??? In what world is that ok? As a child who had a mom leave an abusive relationship and be married to another man in less than a year, this is so harmful and damaging to the kids and this specific part made me really upset that this mother was doing this to her children.
There were also a lot of little things that bothered me where it was clear the author didn't research what she was talking about. One example that comes to mind is a scene where they are on a boat and Mac is helping Jane with her lifejacket and is doing the crotch strap and it's supposed to be this intimate moment and I just kept yelling at my kindle "Adult life jackets don't even have crotch straps! Those life jackets are for kids under 50 lbs." There was at least 15 instances of this where I was just frustrated cause it just didn't make sense.
The last thing I want to talk about is the ending, so if you haven't read this book, stop reading now. You have been warned.
The ending was so unbelievable and just didn't make sense. She gets arrested for abducting the children. Then she has a single interaction with her husband and records it and now all her problems are gone? That's not how any of that works. Also the way the cops never require her to reveal the kids and show they are safe. I watch entirely too much true crime to believe that. The cops would never release her without proof the kids are safe. Also all of the legal stuff doesn't even matter because Mac just brutally murders this man anyway. And the reader is just supposed to believe that this Motorcycle club is so powerful that they can just disappear a man who is currently going through multiple court cases that cross state lines with ease??? I was going to give this a 3 star rating because most of the book was fine (things bothered me personally, but they weren't too terrible), but the ridiculousness of this ending had me deducting a star.
#Review: *Mac's Obsession* - Cala Riley [18+] 4.2/5✨ 2.5/5🌶️ [Attention! This book contains explicit violent scenes]
Jane and her two kids were part of an abusive family, because her husband, Evan, was considering himself entitled to harm Jane with every occasion he had. But the situation was becoming more toxic with each passing day, until they said that it was enough. That's how Jane and her kids found themselves constantly on the road, trying to get as far away as they could from the man who supposed to love them.
Mac was that bad boy type, not always being on the right side of the law. From the moment he saw his new neighbors, Jena and her kids, he felt like he needed to do anything possible to protect them. But will he be able to do that when the danger will knock at their door?
The suspense of this book was really captivating! Also, that obsession Mac grew for our girl, Jane, was pretty intense and it made him do so many things for her and those kids. It was so sweet and emotional to see them in a happier situation and I loved that they were able to have a sort of normal life. The fear was constant in their hearts but Mac and his friends made it possible for them to forget for a bit about all those problems and to enjoy life. That uncertainty was breathtaking, not knowing when the danger would hit. Also, that super slow burn was so good, making me scream for them to just give into their feelings. There were some tiny things which weren't exactly for me, but they didn't ruin my excitement about this story and I was still super immersed in this book.
I definitely recommend this book for those readers who love a dark, suspenseful romance. It had a nice touch with that slow burn romance and that found family part.
So thankful for the opportunity Hambright Pr offered me by accepting me for this book.

This book is so good, I’m not gonna lie—I loved it from the prologue! It has everything: a single mom, a biker MMC, a protective MMC, found family, and so much more.
The story follows Jane, who is running from her abusive husband when she meets Berta, who introduces her to her brother, Mac. I absolutely loved Mac’s character—he’s the ultimate green flag MMC. I admired how he stepped up to protect Jane and her kids, providing them with a loving, safe home. His actions were so beautiful and heartwarming.
The author did an amazing job with Jane’s kids, especially Tanner. Seeing how the abuse affected him, and how he felt the need to protect his mom, even though he’s only 8 years old, was so powerful.
The found family aspect of this book was so touching—how the biker gang took Jane in and kept her safe made me feel all the warm fuzzies.
This is a 5-star read, and I absolutely recommend it.
Big thanks to the author and Hambright PR for the ARC!
Jane is running for her life with her two kids, carrying fear, bruises, and a past she barely survived. One desperate escape lands her in a place she never expected… surrounded by bikers, brothers, and a man who looks dangerous but feels like safety. Enter Mac. Club enforcer. Quiet protector. The kind of man who doesn’t make promises… he just shows up.
And listen… right around 30% in, I already knew this was going to be one of my top reads of the year. Cala Riley’s writing is insane. You don’t just read this book — you feel it. Every emotion, every moment of fear, every flicker of hope hits deep.
Why did nobody put me onto biker romances sooner??? Because WOW. The MC + trucker world, the brotherhood, the loyalty… all of it was done so well. And Mac? Oh my God. Walking green flag. Alpha without being toxic. Protective without being controlling. Soft for Jane and her kids in a way that completely wrecked me. This man said “mine” and meant forever.
And Jane… sweet, strong Jane. A survivor in every sense. I loved how her healing wasn’t rushed, how her strength showed quietly, and how the kids were written with so much heart. This romance wasn’t just spice… it was story, growth, safety, and love earned.
Plot heavy, emotional, tender, and powerful. This book grabbed me and did not let go. I finished it in one sitting and immediately wanted more of this world.
Huge thank you to @author.cala.riley and @hambright_pr for the gifted eARC 🖤
🖤 Please check trigger warnings before reading — they’re important and handled with care.
I finished this in one day! I was hooked from the first few pages!! Jane is a single mom with 2 kids who is on the run trying to hide from her abusive husband. Thank the angels, she meets Bertha a trucker who helps her by setting her up in a home that is owned by her brother, Mac. He’s hesitant, but as soon as he sees the fragile family, his manly instincts kick in and will do anything to protect them!
This biker romance was emotional, but healing my soul at the same time. Jane’s character development throughout the whole book had me in happy tears. From her not having a voice, love, being degraded to slowly breaking out of her shell to find who she really is and what she wants was amazing. And Mac not only being a hot biker, but one who was so in tune with his feelings and not afraid to be vulnerable with not just Jane, but her kids!! He took them under his wing like they were his very own and I thought that was truly admirable 🥹
Side characters, you’ll love them all! It’s like one big happy biker family! And the banter from them all had me LOL.
This story reminded me that you can walk away and find yourself again. You can be loved and are deserving of it❤️ Available now on KU!

There is something about her and those kids that make me want to take them in and never let them go
Mac’s obsession was an amazing single parent romance, with Jane on the run with her kids from her abusive partner.
I absolutely adored Mac. He was protective but also not too protective. He didn’t overshadow Jane’s character growth and I loved that. I also loved how Mac had his bonding moments with both kids but I also loved his special relationship with Tanner. He was undoing everything he’d learned from his dad and was teaching him to be a man and how to treat women properly.
💚MC romance 💚Single mum romance 💚Mum on the run 💚Next door neighbours 💚Found family
Trigger warnings: •domestic violence •on page physical and verbal abuse •on page child abuse •suggested sexual assault •on page torture
The obsession is me; I cannot get enough of this series. The first books in the Saints Outlaws MC: Pensacola Chapter are still with me, and this book is better! Jane is a strong character, an amazing mom, we see her grow and find her true strength. She is determined to keep her kids safe.
As Jane and the kids are escaping from the ex, she meets Bertha, a trucker who helps them to safety, but is also a sister to Mac. She sets Jane and the kids up in his rental.
I love how Mac immediately springs into protector mode. Mac is patient with the kids, and the relationship grows to him treating them like his own. Jane is guarding her heart; Mac is patient and waits for her. As time moves on these two opposites have a spark, and when it ignites, Wow! I am excited to see what comes next.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
This one hit hard for me. I was pulled in fast and stayed locked the whole way through. Mac’s Obsession keeps its focus where it matters. Protecting Jane and her kids. Watching trust build slowly. Letting healing take its time.
Mac shows up without trying to control or fix Jane. He gives space. He listens. He proves himself through actions. The way he treats the kids sealed it for me. Tanner especially. Those moments felt honest and earned.
Jane’s growth is steady and believable. She does not flip a switch and become fearless. She fights through fear while still showing up for her kids. The MC feels like family without taking over the story. The banter works. The support feels real.
This series keeps getting better. Mac and Jane are easy to root for. Cala Riley does not miss for me and this one is an auto five stars.
Omg this book was idk it’s my favorite. I think I say that with all Cala Riley books. Idk this storyline line holds a special place in my heart and tugged at all the strings. Jane is such an amazingly strong character and FMC and a great mom. Watching her grow in self confidence and fake it until she made it was crazy. Then watching her find her strength was awesome. Mac oh Mac where to start?! The instant hero move and he just did what he needed to do yet was so understanding and gentle. SWOON!!!! I love the interconnecting of all the clubs. I never have to go long without my favorite characters. There’s not enough good things to say about this book. It made me laugh, gasp, cry and swoon, the spice was spicy and yet so intimate. A million stars !!!!
I really liked the trope list for this book so I was happy to give it a go. And on the surface, this was exciting and sweet. It’s an MC romance about a runaway mother and her kids and the man that picks them up when they’re at their lowest. A lot of sweet, a little dark, this book makes you fall in love with a guy that some might look at a little sideways but we all know is exactly the type of person we want on our side.
Until you think about it a little more. There are some romance books where I suspend the disbelief more than usual, mostly for dark romances where we all know the main characters are probably going to have major red flags. But this one felt too realistic to do that so I found myself scrutinizing the details and motivations more closely. I do understand wanting to find someone to catch you when you’re struggling, but I found myself being way too protective over those kids to want a new man (I know, I know, it’s fictional) around them so much. The criminal side of things also felt a bit too predictable for me, even for people so well connected.
While the romance was too quick and trusting for me here, I still liked the sweet and protective mMC and found myself continuing with it all the way through. I’m also curious about some of the side characters’ stories and can see myself giving another book in this series a try.
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Jane and Mac’s story. Jane’s priority is naturally her two children, and she is on the run from her abusive ex, while Mac becomes her landlord, and neighbor. Mac is protective over Jane and the children, and he will do whatever he must to keep them safe and protected. This is a well written slow burn story, with found family, friendships, emotions, tension, danger, suspense, intrigue, challenges, obsession, making choices, humour, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Not only do I love a single parent on the run trope, I LOVE A POSSESSIVE MMC. This story sucked me in fast and I had trouble putting it down to get anything else done. I loved it so much! This book doesn’t only take you on a spicy thrilling ride, but an emotional ride as well. Jane just wants safety for her and her kids, away from her abusive ex. Mac not only provides her safety, but love and kindness for her and her kids. This was such a fantastic story that touched on some really heavy topics delicately! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much to #HambrightPR and #CalaRiley for the ARC! This was gut wrenching, traumatic but overall beautiful. This gave all the good feels but also highlighted so many realistic issues that happen with DV. Mac is an absolute god send and the relationship with Jane was perfection, nothing felt rushed, the entire build up to their relationship was paced perfectly. And those damn kids! Emily is a little trouble maker! And Tanner melted my heart! I hope one day we get their books! 🖤🖤🖤 I cannot wait for Tank’s book to come out!
Mac’s Obsession by Cala Riley book three in Saint’s Outlaws MC : Pensacola Chapter. This time we have the swoon-worthy biker Mac and his slow burn romance with Jane, a broken single mum struggling to survive. An emotional read as Jane is determined to keep her kids safe and Mac does all he can to show her what a good man looks like.
Jane is married to Evan but he is a narcissistic monster who has physically and mentally abused her over the years. She tries to protect her children and Tanner looks after his sister Emily when their dad is angry but they have both experienced something traumatic. After one particularly violent evening, they go on the run. Two months later they are still on the move with the help from truckers. They are scared Evan will find them but luckily they meet Bertha, who suggests they move into her brother’s rental house.
Mac followed Smoke from Boston to Pensacola to help start the new chapter and now the brothers are his family. He owns the house next to his and is surprised when his sister calls asking him to help and give Jane a safe place to stay. Mac knows it could be asking for trouble and he might have to involve the MC but gives in. This good deed quickly becomes an obsession because the moment they arrive, he just knows he is meant to keep them safe.
Jane is worried they will never be safe and Evan will eventually find them. She feels guilty as Tanner is still scared and struggling to trust anyone. She’s anxious over depending on Mac too much but finds herself falling for him. He is such a good man and can’t believe how good he is with the kids. It is wonderful how much effort Mac puts in to get to know Jane and all he does to help her. He’s cross at what they have been through and wants to give them the life they all deserve. He needs her to trust him so he can find out who she is and who they need to look out for. Mac hopes she wants him as much as he wants her but can’t push her as she needs to heal and adjust to life with him and the MC.
Jane grows in confidence and makes friends with everyone at the MC. Emily was so sweet and adorable. Tanner was the best big brother and Mac was so caring towards him. I loved how Bertha keeps in touch and they build up a great friendship. It was great catching up with all the Outlaws and their partners. The brothers banter was fun and we got some good teasers for the next book. Sloane was hilarious again and with Kelly they both really supported Jane.
Jane now has a safe home, happy children and a fantastic relationship but is concerned her past will rear its ugly head again. Mac worries that if Evan is still around he knows Jane will run again and he doesn’t want to lose his new family. Will the MC be able to protect them if the worse happens. Can Jane finally live the life she has always dreamt about. I was very impressed how the authors addressed domestic violence and the affect it has on everyone involved. I really enjoyed this story and Mac and Jane are now my favourite couple in this series.
trigger warnings will be at the bottom of this review, to avoid spoilers spousal abuse, child abuse, violence/threats involving guns, violent torture on page, mutalation, home invasion, attempted robbery, narcissistic behavior, PTSD
Before we get into the meat of this review, I want to highlight the Pub Sub mention. Because as a Floridian, that’s important to note! Jane and her sweet babies find safety and solace with Mac. And his found family becomes theirs. And because I am already attached to said found family, I swooned HARD every time a member loved Jane and her kids. Reading a MC romance means rough and tough guys. So when I come across one with soft spots?! My heart ends up in a tizzy! Boy did Mac turn soft. Especially for Jane’s kids. His gentleness, patience, grace, his supportive open arms. I loved that while it felt like an instalove, it was a slow burn because these circumstances absolutely called for time and space! The respect that poured off the page was like a warm hug, a hug that was NEEDED! I lose it during “my wife” moments, it’s why any form of convenient/forced marriages are some of my favorite reads. But a “my kids” moment!?!? I was a goner. There were plenty of familiar faces (whether on page or mentioned) but also some newbies I can’t wait to spend more time with!
My Favorite Quotes: • “I’ve got you.” • “I want to be the man you deserve. If only you would let me.” • “I will protect you even until my dying breath.” • “I know you are still growing, but I want to grow together.” • “You can’t leave me. I need you too much.” • “Cuddles?” “They’re the best medicine.” • “I feel free with you.” • “My old lady is taking my c!ck like a good girl.”
6/10 Dirty Birdy 2/10 Forced Proximity 10/10 Single Parent 7/10 Slow Burn 7/10 Series
Trigger Warnings include: The spousal abuse occurs on page as well as past occurrences described. It includes rape. The child abuse is on page (just once). The FMC goes on the run with her children to protect them. Their fear and PTSD is constant throughout.
This was my very first story by Cala Riley, and I was utterly captivated from the very beginning. As the opening chapter is so powerful, I couldn’t put it down. It follows Jane and her two children, eight-year-old Tanner and five-year-old Emily, as they escape after yet another abusive night at the hands of Jane's husband and the children's father, Evan.
But what makes that night so different is that Evan lashes out at Tanner, and when his physical and sexual assault finally ends, Tanner bravely pleads with his mum to take them away and leave, knowing they won't survive much longer if they stay.
This leads Jane and the kids to meet Bertha, a kind-hearted female trucker eager to help in any way she can. Bertha shares with Jane the story of her brother, Mac, a biker and member of the Saints Outlaws MC in Florida, who has a house to rent and can offer protection if needed. When Mac hears Jane's story, he's eager to help and promises that the MC will keep them safe.
Although Jane is cautious at first, she ultimately accepts because Florida feels so far away from her husband and the danger back home. Still, Jane and her children—especially Tanner—find it hard to trust anyone, and it takes some time for them to believe that Mac and the MC mean no harm.
And from the very first moment Mac meets Jane and her children, he feels a strong connection. He is determined to protect and care for them, making sure they feel safe and loved. Gradually, Jane and her kids start to see that not all men are like Evan.
But Evan’s shadow never entirely fades, and Mac knows they won't truly be safe until Evan is dealt with. As time passes and feelings grow deeper, Mac is more committed than ever to making Jane and the children his own, and he vows that Evan will regret ever laying a finger on them.
And with touching moments, perfect pacing, and a heartfelt romance, this biker story truly shines, and I can’t wait to read more from these characters and author in the future, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to everyone.
My thanks to Hambright PR for providing me with a copy of Mac's Obsession. All thoughts expressed are my own. ☺️
Mac is not the only one obsessed—this series just keeps getting better and better, and Book 3 is officially my favorite.
Jane is on the run from an abusive husband who holds far more power than she does, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her children safe. When she crosses paths with Bertha, a trucker with a heart of gold, she’s given a lifeline—one that leads her to Bertha’s brother, Mac. He reluctantly agrees to give Jane and her kids a safe place to land… and that’s where his obsession—and need to protect—begins.
From the moment Mac meets this fragile little family, his instincts kick in hard. His “touch them and you die” energy? Absolutely unmatched. Watching him step up—not just for Jane, but for her kids—was beyond swoon-worthy. He didn’t hesitate to take them under his wing like they were his own, and that alone melted my heart.
This is a slow burn, and it works perfectly. Both Jane and Mac are carrying deep wounds, and their journey toward healing feels authentic, emotional, and earned. Cala does an incredible job portraying the lasting impacts of domestic violence—Jane’s lack of voice, her fear, her gradual rebuilding of self-worth. Her character development had me in happy tears. Watching her slowly break out of her shell and rediscover who she is and what she deserves was beautiful.
And let’s talk about the kids—especially Tanner. You will want to give that boy the biggest hug.
The side characters are just as lovable. The found-family biker vibe is strong, the banter had me genuinely laughing out loud, and the sense of community made this story feel warm and healing despite the danger looming in the background.
I finished this book in one day—I was hooked from the very first pages. It was emotional, protective, tender, and soul-healing all at once. This story is a reminder that you can walk away, you can rebuild, and you are deserving of love.
Highly recommend. Available now on Kindle Unlimited 💛

Cala and Riley never miss especially with their MC romances I always love them because it’s always so emotional, raw and beautiful written but also funny especially when club is together this story was definitely on the emotional side especially the very first chapter so please CHECK TW
Jane was such an amazing fmc she’s just so sweet and kind who has been through so much and her kids also, my heart goes out to Tanner her son he’s so protective of his mom and sister even only at 8 years old. Jane has been on the run with her kids moving from truck to truck so her husband can’t find her. When she meets Mac’s sister who she asks if he can help them
This book was so amazing I couldn’t get enough. Their relationship was just everything and I loved watching everything play out and them getting to know each other and all four of them having so much family time together was just chef kiss. I also loved seeing Tanner and Jane get comfortable around Mac, Emily was just so adorable and trusting
Mac is such a green flag omg he has to be my favorite mmc of Cala and Riley. He’s so trusting and patient and was definitely locked in from day one it was like something just clicked for him when his sister dropped them off to stay next door in one of his properties. I loved everything about him he does not play when it comes to them and I’m glad they finally got someone who cares about them
The chemistry with Mac and Jane is incredible. Their story is just so raw and emotional they deserve each other so much, oh how my heart just was beating every time they just got near each other
I can have like 15 more books on them and their family! And I can’t wait for more of this series
Thank You Cala & Riley For giving me this arc it was everything!
I love a good MC romance book, so I was so excited to get an early copy of this one to read! Full disclosure, I have not read any other books in this series, and I had no issues at all jumping into this one (this is book 3). This was definitely a quick and easy read.
We have Jane, who is on the run with her two children to escape her abusive husband. Jane goes to the trucker network for help and that is where she meets Bertha. Jane is absolutely terrified of stopping and settling into one place, knowing her husband could find her, but Bertha convinces her to rent a house from her brother Mac.
Mac is a mechanic at the garage that his MC club, Saint's Outlaws MC, owns. While he may not always be on the right side of the law, he is a really good guy, and he is definitely protective. And that is why Bertha knew he would help Jane.
What Jane and her kids have gone through is absolutely horrible, and Mac is helping them rebuild a new life. He is doing absolutely everything that he can to help, protect, and show up for them like nobody else ever has. His obsession is instant. And it is not in a creepy way, just a protective way. He also felt like something was missing in his life until Jane and her kids show up.
We go through seeing the development of their relationship, Jane finding friends and family within the MC, a new home for her kids so they can actually be kids and not be afraid, and then finally getting to stop looking over her shoulder for the abusive husband. This is a slow burn, like nothing happened until about 75% into the book slow burn.
There were a couple of plot holes, and some things seemed to move kind of quick. If you have triggers with DV, please take caution as that is a big part of this story. If you enjoy MC club romance, found family, single mom, touch her a die, neighbors, and an FMC on the run, then I recommend you check this one out!
MAC’S OBSESSION is this third instalment in Cala Riley’s contemporary, adult SAINTS OUTLAWS MC : PENSACOLA dark, MC romance series. This is Colin ‘ Mac’ Sheridan, and single mother Jane Anderson’s story line. MAC’S OBSESSION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jane and Mac) MAC’S OBSESSION focuses on the protection of Jane Anderson, and her two children. Having escaped an abusive relationship, Jane and her children find themselves under the protection of the Saints Outlaws MC in Pensacola Florida but Jane continues to struggle with issues of trust knowing the man she left behind is refusing to give up.
The world building focuses on healing and protection, escaping the abuse of the past, moving forward but always leery of anyone new.
The relationship between Mac and Jane begins as a proclamation of protection. Jane and her children arrive in Pensacola, with the help of an underground trucking system, and in this, Mac discovers the woman struggling to survive is the woman that calls to his heart. There $ex scenes are limited by passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and dogged secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Saints Outlaws MC. We are introduced to Mac’s sister Bertha, and Jane’s soon to be ex Evan.
MAC’S OBSESSION is a story of power and control, abuse and vengeance, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dark, dramatic and edgy; the slow building romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and determined.
After falling hard for Fang (Lotus MC: San Antonio), I jumped at the chance to read an early copy of Mac's Obsession, and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations!
A single mom on the run from her abusive ex, an MC brother falling fast and hard determined to protect and provide for her and her two kids, at the same time he was patiently building a foundation of trust with them. Meanwhile, the welcoming security of the Saint's Outlaws MC envelopes Jane, Tanner, and Emily into their found family. Is it any wonder I was hooked and read this book straight through?
Mac was everything you could ask for in an MC book boyfriend: morally grey, dominant, protective, yet soft for her and her kids. He had all the "touch them and d*e" vibes. Swoon! I loved seeing the healing and growth in Jane's character throughout the book, as well as that of her eight year-old her son, Tanner.
Mac's Obsession is a slow burn romance, and while Mac is instantly attracted to Jane, he doesn't act on it. The pacing of the physical relationship was respectful of the trauma Jane had been through, letter her take the lead. I do feel the need to point out that Jane was still legally married to her abusive husband when the relationship with Mac became intimate. Does that need a TW? After all Jane had been through at the hands of her husband, I find it difficult to label it as cheating. Maybe that makes me morally grey too?
I could have done without all the details in the final scene between Mac and Jane's husband, Evan, though it does serve the purpose of underscoring that Mac isn't just a besotted softie in love with his woman and her kids. There's a dangerous and vengeful predator lurking just under the surface.
I had the opportunity to read and review an early copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion of this book.
If you are looking for an MC romance that perfectly balances gritty club life with a deeply emotional, "heart on your sleeve" story, Mac’s Obsession is an absolute must read. Cala Riley has delivered a powerful story about resilience, the weight of the past, and the healing power of a found family.
The Story
The book follows Jane, a mother who is doing everything in her power to provide a safe, quiet life for her children while looking over her shoulder at the shadows of her past. When she lands in a house owned by Mac, a member of the Saint’s Outlaws MC, the last thing she expects is for a hardened biker to be the one to help her finally stop running.
What I Loved
• The Hero: Mac is the ultimate "Alpha Roll." He is fierce and protective, but the patience and gentleness he shows Jane and her children will absolutely melt you. Seeing a tough biker embrace "dad energy" so naturally was the highlight of the book.
• The Emotional Depth: This isn't just a romance; it’s a journey of healing. The authors handle Jane’s trauma with incredible care, making her growth feel earned and authentic.
• The Stakes: The tension is constant. You feel Jane’s fear in every chapter, which makes the moments of safety and connection with the club feel so much more impactful.
• The Club Dynamics: The Saint’s Outlaws feel like a real brotherhood. The secondary characters are well developed, and their acceptance of Jane’s family adds a beautiful layer of "found family" to the grit.
Final Verdict
This is a high stakes, protective hero romance that will have you rooting for the characters from the very first page. It’s heavy on the heartstrings but delivers a payoff that is incredibly satisfying. Whether you’re a die hard MC romance fan or just love a story about a strong woman finding her footing, you need this on your TBR.
I would like to start out by saying thank you to Cala Riley and Hambright PR for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!
Mac's Obsession? More like Maria's Obsession because I am OBSESSED with this book! This was my first Cala Riley novel and I was very impressed! Cala wrote an engaging storyline that kept my attention and I finished this in like 24 hours! I was completed sucked in.
Jane is actively trying to rebuild her life with her kids and is on the run from her abusive husband. Mac is the hottie biker next door who also happens to be their landlord... the dynamic here was so well done! The suspense/danger like kept me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely loved Mac's "touch them and d!e" attitude.. it was hot. What? I am just a girl.
Cala wrote really well written children! I am SO picky about kids in books and I was thoroughly impressed! She also did a phenomenal job writing Jane's relationship with her children. You could tell she would go to the ends of the world for her child. There were so many just heartfelt and tender moments.
Jane was such a beautiful and strong character. She was a very well written single parent/heroine on the run FMC. Cala did a great job writing her character development through the book... it brought me to tears a time or two. Her story was just really powerful.
Mac was a man obsessed and I loved to see it! Like the moment he saw Jane and the kids, he just knew he had to protect them and I loved to see it. Cala did such a captivating job writing his obsession with Jane... like it was intense and I am really impressed.
Jane and Mac's story was the ultimate slow burn with the best pay off. The chemistry was so good and totally worth the wait.
Would I suggest this to a friend? Yes! Would I reread? Yes! But please check your trigger warning because this was pretty dark at times. Would I like a trophy? Yes.
Jane & Mac’s story is filled with control, abuse, bravery, & love. All it takes is some courage and trust that it will all be worth it. This book had me hooked right from the start. While it’s the 3rd book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series + more by Cala! Make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading. Cala handled the subject of domestic violence with the most respect and care.
BLURB: Jane On the run from an abusive ex, I never thought I would be able to give my children a normal life again.
That is, until he came into the picture.
Mac.
The gorgeous biker living next door who is also my landlord. Mac was only supposed to be a solution while I figured out a long-term goal, but somehow he has broken through all of my defenses and become the person I look to for safety. Things aren’t always as they seem though and as my past closes in, I will need to make a difficult decision.
Do I take my children and run or do I stay and fight for the new life I have built?
Mac Being part of the Saint’s Outlaws MC means I am no stranger to danger.
Especially the type of danger the pretty single mom next door seems to be in.
Jane. She is skittish and her children act like they are scared of their own shadow which has my protective instincts flaring up. They were only supposed to stay for a little while, but the more I get to know them, the more I am sure I will never let them get hurt again. So when the man who haunts their dreams makes a play to get them back, I do what I do best.
Afterall, being an outlaw means no one escapes my wrath.

Thank you @author.cala.riley & @hambright_pr for this ARC!
When a single mom on the run with her two kids meets a biker who becomes instantly obsessed with protecting her… yeah, I was gone. Fully obsessed. No resistance. No hesitation. I devoured this book in one evening.
This story was perfect for me from start to finish.
Mac is everything I love in an MC hero: strong, protective, possessive, dangerous when needed — but with a heart of pure gold. He’s the kind of man who looks tough on the outside, but deep down, all he wants is a place to belong. And the moment he meets Jane and her children, he knows exactly where that place is. His purpose becomes crystal clear: them.
Jane is the kind of FMC that stays with you. Her life has been brutal. She’s been broken by violence, fear, and survival. But what makes her so powerful is her growth. Watching her slowly heal, rebuild herself, and rediscover who she is — not just as a mother, but as a woman — was beautiful. Her evolution throughout the book is honestly one of the best character arcs I’ve read in an MC romance.
And Mac with Emily and Tanner? Absolutely perfect. Emotional. Pure. Protective. Healing. Those relationships added so much depth to the story and made everything feel real and meaningful.
Yes, some people might say the relationship develops quickly — but this is fiction, and for me, the pacing works perfectly. It never feels rushed in a bad way. You get real connection, real bonding, real growth, without unnecessary dragging or filler. You have time to know the characters, feel their emotions, and watch them evolve — without ever getting bored.
The balance in this book is exactly what I want in an MC romance:
✔️emotions ✔️angst ✔️action ✔️healing ✔️found family ✔️love
Cala Riley has quickly become one of my favorite authors in the MC romance genre, and this book just confirmed it.
Mac’s Obsession is intense, emotional, addictive, and deeply satisfying. A perfect mix of danger, love, healing, and family — and without a doubt, a 5⭐️ read for me.
Jane is a single mom with two kids, running and hiding from an abusive husband, basically living in survival mode. She’s tired, scared, and has learned to stay quiet to stay safe. Then she meets Bertha (an absolute angel), a trucker who helps her get back on her feet by setting her up in a house owned by her brother, Mac.
Mac is hesitant at first, but the second he sees Jane and the kids, something in him shifts. That instinct to protect kicks in and he doesn’t fight it.
This biker romance surprised me in the best way. Yes, it’s emotional, but it’s also incredibly healing. Watching Jane slowly grow, from someone who didn’t have a voice or a sense of worth, to a woman learning who she is and what she wants, honestly had me in happy tears. Her character development felt real, not rushed, not dramatic, just… earned.
And Mac. He’s not just a hot biker. He’s emotionally aware, patient, and not afraid to be vulnerable. What really got to me was how naturally he includes the kids. He doesn’t treat them like baggage. He treats them like they matter. Like they’re already his. That kind of love hits different.
The found-family vibe is strong and comforting.
At its core, this story is about walking away from pain and choosing yourself again. Jane guards her heart. Mac waits. He never pushes. And when their connection finally ignites… wow.
I closed this book feeling soft, emotional, and genuinely excited to see what comes next.
