Echoes of the Fall
The Great California Earthquake of 1916 claimed many casualties. In the tourist town of Veil, CA it granted 4 men life and powers beyond their scope. The remnants of a long destroyed alien city were revealed as the affluent section of town dropped into a sinkhole. Now armed with deadly and alien biological technologies they battle for control of the town of Veil with the unsuspecting citizens as pawns in an infernal struggle for power. Shape shifters, monsters, cultists, dreams and even the toys of children are deadly weapons in a war for territory and souls.

Later he discovered comic books and loved all the flashy colors. Then as time went by comic books became more than interesting colors and evolved their storytelling. Now, after having traveled the country he has returned to the roost where he generates the beautiful and the terrible for his own enjoyment and a modest profit.

This is definitely the book for fans of suspense style-horror.
A collection of short stories interconnected by outside forces - this book twists into the dark places of the psyche and brings those fears that reside deep inside out onto the page. The characters are complex, both familiar in their humanity - and different in their other worldliness. This book affected my dreams - gave me nightmares - made me think. It was AWESOME! For people who love both Horror and Science Fiction - this is a MUST READ. If you don't...you're missing out.

This story is absolutely wild in the best way. The combination of an historic earthquake, alien tech, and supernatural chaos is so inventive. I loved how unpredictable the plot is, keeps you guessing at every turn.

Historical Horror/Science Fiction
It's the early twentieth century in Veil, California. Abused by a so-called religious cult, Chastity is rescued from her hellish fate by repulsive monster. When she gazes upon it again, it's in the form of an angel. Its voice sounds familiar.
Boarder Kerry lives near the fenced-in compound. He sees Chastity's unhappy face through a window. He wants to help her, but he feels powerless.
The Echoes of the Fall, by William Tooker, is excellent from many perspectives. First, it's a wonderfully researched historical novel. Second, it's a great science fiction book. Third, it's classic horror, with various twists. It takes a truly talented writer to take these diverse genres and weave them into a cohesive story. The book includes telepathy, time travel, zombies, and more.
