Connie I ran from my family because I was desperate to escape their darkness. I craved the freedom to live a normal life far from their bloody legacy. But freedom is fragile, and mine shatters the night I’m taken. Now I’m caught in Matteo Romano’s web. He's my captor, my tormentor, and the man who claims I belong to him. He sees the shadows inside me. The same ones I’ve spent my whole life burying. He wants me to give in to them and let them consume me. But I won’t. I can’t. Even when his dangerous charm pulls me deeper into his grasp I have to fight him. Because if I don’t, I’ll lose more than my freedom. I’ll lose myself.
Matteo Connie Quinn doesn’t realise it yet but she’s mine. From the moment I saw her, I knew I’d stop at nothing to have her. She’s fire and fury wrapped in softness, and her darkness calls to mine like a siren’s song. She thinks she can run from me, and from her family’s sins, but I see the truth. Connie is just like me. We're creatures born for chaos. All she needs is someone to show her how to embrace it. The world we live in doesn’t forgive weakness. Enemies are closing in on all sides, and if Connie doesn’t choose me, she might not survive. I’ll protect her with my life if I have to. But first, I have to claim her completely.
My preferences for reading are darker than this book. With that said, I was drawn in from the first few pages. Connie was ra*e bait from the repeated behaviors that began with the first chapter. Granted she's sheltered, you still can't help to say to yourself " "stupid", "idiot", "here we go again". I figured out who it was early on in the book, but I'm glad it wasn't completely obvious.
Matteo was, imo, on the lighter side of psychotic. Very logical in his approach to killing and claiming Connie, no matter her thoughts about it. He was the average run-of-the mill mafia killer. Though I was surprised what he was willing to bend over to make amends.
I found the revenge to be at the end satisfying fit and I appreciate the connection between Connie & Matteo during the act. It was raw, sensual and just f*cking hot!
The lack of a star was because I couldn't connect with the characters. I was numb to most of it. It could be, as I stated earlier, that my preferences run darker (Little Doll...~mind still blown~) or something else. I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Connie ran from her family out of desperation, she not only needed to but was desperate to get away from all the darkness that consumed them. She just wanted to live a normal life, far from their legacy of bloodshed. But, Connie quickly learns that freedom is a fragile thing and for her, it is quickly shattered the night that she is taken by force. Now Connie finds herself caught in Matteo Romano's web. He claims that he is her captor, tormentor, and worst of all he claims that Connie belongs to him.
Matteo can see the shadows that lurk beneath Connie's skin. The very shadows that she has spent her entire life trying to keep buried down deep, where no one could ever see them. Matteo wants Connie to give in to those shadows, to let them consume her. But, Connie refuses, she fights the shadows and keeps them at bay. Even when Matteo's dangerous charm pulls at her and drags her deeper into his grasp, Connie knows that she has to keep fighting him and her shadows. Because if she doesn't, she's going to lose way more than her very freedom. She knows that she will lose her very soul.
Matteo knows that Connie Quinn hasn't come to terms with her new reality yet and that she is his. From that very first moment her saw Connie he knew that he would stop at nothing to have her. She was fire and fury that was wrapped in a package of softness, and he could hear her own darkness calling to his, as though it was a siren's song, waiting for its perfect match.
Connie believes that she will be able to run from him just as easily as she ran from her family and her family's sins. But, Matteo can see the truth for what it is. Connie is just like him. They are both creatures born for and from chaos. And all Connie needs is the right person to show her how to embrace her darkness and her chaos properly.
The world that they live in doesn't easily forgive weakness. Matteo knows that their enemies are closing in around them from all sides, and if Connie doesn't choose him, he fears that she's not going to survive what's coming. Matteo swears to protect her with his life if that's what he has to do. But first, he has to claim her completely, and that means heart, mind, soul, and body.

YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please read and pay attention to the trigger warnings at the beginning of this book. There are scenes and content matter in this book that are not suitable for all readers and could be triggering for others. Please remember at all times that your mental health comes first, ALWAYS!
Claiming Connie is the 1st book in the Twisted Obsession Series by Aria Devon. It's not as dark as I normally read. Nowhere near as twisted as some of the other books that I have read, but I did enjoy it nonetheless.
Connie, poor Connie. I felt for her. She was r*pe bait from the very beginning and you could see this from the repeated behaviours in the very first chapter. Even though you could tell that Connie had been sheltered her entire life I was still saying to myself “here we go again”, “moron”, dumb ass”. I kind of was able to figure out early on in the book who it was, but it also wasn't glaringly obvious either.
Then we have Matteo. Matteo is imo on the lighter side of psychotic. He has this logic to the way he goes about his killings and the way that he claims Connie, even though her thoughts don't exactly line up with his. He's kind of an average mafia killer in a lot of ways. But, I love that he was willing to do whatever he had to and even bend over backwards for Connie to make his amends.
The chemistry between Matteo and Connie was perfection in and of itself and their connection was just raw, sensual, and off-the-charts hot. And the vengeance at the end that they found, was satisfying and just fitting for the story itself.
Honestly, I have to say this:
Connie is stronger than she thinks and she is the perfect FMC for this book and for Matteo.
Matteo is the all-encompassing mafia killer and yet at the same time he's everything you want in this dark romance and he is the right MMC for Connie.
And the spice in this book was just as always out of this world. Aria knows what she's doing what she's writing the tension and angst-filled spicy scenes.
Aria's choice to write this book in the 1st person was the right choice I think as it helped you connect with the characters better and allowed you to see their development clearly.
I have to say that Claiming Connie is a great read and everyone who enjoys a dark romance should read this one.
In a world increasingly populated by digital applications catering to every conceivable need and desire, a clandestine service emerges, delving into the realm of the most private and shadowy yearnings. For those whose fantasies reside in the darker corners of the imagination, Matteo Romano stands as the key. Born into a family already navigating the ambiguous territory between conventional society and its hidden underbelly, Matteo has cultivated a discreet and potentially perilous side venture, one guaranteed to elicit gasps and whispers should its true nature be revealed. This enterprise caters to a specific clientele, offering an experience that promises to scratch a particular itch, appealing to those with a penchant for the unconventional and the forbidden.
However, the allure of such deep desires carries an inherent risk, a potential descent into unforeseen and unwanted abysses. Connie found herself on the cusp of liberation, finally stepping out from under the stifling control of her overbearing family. This newfound taste of freedom was abruptly shattered when she was unexpectedly thrust into a reality she never envisioned, a world operating by rules unknown to her. Yet, the moment Matteo’s gaze fell upon Connie, the dynamics irrevocably shifted. An intense obsession took root, blossoming into a possessive fixation that teetered on the brink of madness. Driven by this overpowering desire, Matteo made Connie’s deepest fantasy a tangible reality. Once that threshold was crossed, the thought of relinquishing her hold became utterly unthinkable.
To offer a semblance of fairness to Matteo's actions, it must be acknowledged that he adhered meticulously to a pre-established framework. Safe words were in place, escape routes clearly defined—the infrastructure for a consensual experience was ostensibly present. The fundamental flaw, however, lay in Connie’s complete unawareness of the nature of the arrangement she was entering. The horrifying truth dawned upon Matteo with chilling clarity: Connie had never actually consented to any of it. In that moment of realization, a solemn vow was made. Matteo pledged to dedicate the remainder of his existence to atoning for this profound transgression. From that day forward, he became a constant presence in her life, an unseen guardian, always watching, always waiting, ensuring she remained within his sphere of influence. His obsession, undeniably unhinged in its intensity, paradoxically became the very quality that rendered him so dangerously irresistible.
Despite the ensuing chaos, the profound shock of the revelation, and the undeniable sense of betrayal, an undeniable and electric current surged between them. Logic dictated that Connie should have recoiled in hatred, that her instinct should have been to flee as far as possible. Instead, she found herself engaged in an internal battle, simultaneously fighting against and succumbing to the powerful, inexplicable pull that bound them together. Connie was a study in captivating contradictions: fiercely independent and strong-willed, yet frustratingly prone to recklessness. Her decision to venture out to the Bling nightclub after narrowly escaping a violent attack in her own apartment at the hands of a knife-wielding assailant defies rational explanation. To go to such a place alone, so soon after such a traumatic event, seemed to court danger, painting a target squarely on her back.
Yet, amidst this perplexing behavior, the author found a compelling fascination in the conflict raging within Connie—the struggle between the inherent darkness that seemed to lurk beneath the surface and the normal life she desperately tried to maintain. And when Connie finally exacted her revenge on the shadowy figure who had orchestrated her living nightmare, the moment resonated with a sense of pure poetic justice, even if the ultimate unveiling of his identity lacked the shocking impact that might have been anticipated.
A crucial caveat must be issued to potential readers: those with known triggers should approach this narrative with extreme caution. Consider this your emphatic warning, a flashing neon sign urging you to proceed at your own risk. This book is a relentless exploration of potentially triggering themes from its very inception to its conclusion. It is not a story for the faint of heart or for those seeking lighthearted escapism. However, for readers who find themselves drawn to the intricate dance of darkness and desire, those who revel in the complexities of morally ambiguous characters and twisted scenarios, this is a journey from which you will find yourselves unable to turn away.
There seems to be an app for everything these days, even your darkest fantasies. And if yours happen to drift into the shadows, then Matteo is the man to see. As part of the Romano family, he was already walking the fine line between the light and the darkness, but his little side hustle is bound to raise more than q few eyebrows. Let’s just say, it scratches an itch, if you’re into that sort of thing. But here’s the kicker - sometimes, your deepest desires can lead you straight into the abyss, especially when you never actually signed up for them in the first place. Connie was tasting freedom from her overbearing family for the first time, when she was plunged into a world she never asked to enter. Yet, the moment Matteo laid eyes on her, it was game over. Obsession. Possession. A fixation so intense it bordered on madness. And once he made her darkest fantasy a reality, he had no intention of ever letting her go. Now, to be fair to Matteo, he followed his instructions to the letter—there were safe words, escape hatches, basically the whole deal. The only problem was that Connie had no clue what was happening. And when Matteo realized the horrific truth—that Connie never actually asked for any of it—he her made a solemn vow. A vow to spend the rest of his life making it up to her and from that moment on he was everywhere, watching, waiting, never letting her out of his sight. His obsession was nothing short of unhinged, but let’s be real—that’s what made him so irresistible. And despite the chaos, the shock, and the betrayal, something electric burned between them. She should have hated him. She should have run. But instead, she fought, both for and against the undeniable pull between them. Connie was a fascinating contradiction. Strong-willed, yet frustratingly reckless. How else do you explain her outing to the Bling nightclub after nearly being attacked by a knife-wielding man in her own apartment? Girl, what were you thinking?! And going there alone was just asking to be a target. But I did love the battle between her inner darkness and the life she tried so hard to cling to. And when she finally got her revenge on the man who orchestrated her nightmare? It was pure poetic justice (even if his identity wasn’t quite the shock I was hoping for). A final word of warning: if you have triggers, consider this your flashing neon sign to proceed with caution. This book is one trigger from start to finish. It won’t be for everyone, but for those of you who revel in the dark and twisted, trust me, you won’t be able to look away. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you’re affected by triggers, I suggest reading the list of these first. Frankly, I think some things that happened in this book were completely unnecessary for the storyline.
Was heading towards a 4 star but I dislike books that depict the FMC as stupid or reckless with their personal safety.
She’s been kidnapped and brutally raped. She now has a stalker who won’t take no for an answer. She knows someone set her up for the rape and they’re still out there. Someone breaks into her flat and is standing behind her with a knife and only the quick reactions of Matteo saves her. Whilst he’s out there chasing the guy, she goes to a night club, and accepts drinks from a stranger!
Of course, said stranger spikes her drink and she’s raped again!!! Come on now!!! It’s like clubbing 101 these days. She wants to let her hair down after her horrible ordeal, ok. But we all know about safety in clubs. And frankly after what she’s been through and knowing people are out there who want to hurt her, taking drinks from a stranger is the height of stupidity. Why do authors like to make women look stupid?
Oh I guessed who it was from very early on! Yeah me!!!

Matteo is a man who is used to getting what he wants, and that is Connie. He is consumed by her from the beginning. I felt bad for him being partially responsible for what terrible things happened to her. Heads up that these are not subtle either, very graphic and the trigger warnings should be closely evaluated before you read this. Matteo is very, very good at making up for it though. Controlling, protective, cocky, psychotic in his need to possess Connie and destroy anything that harms her, and sexually delicious. He is a man I can find myself having many good dreams about. Yes, there is a lot of darkness in the story, but also humor and swooning. My heart gets heavy and then I find myself smiling. It’s a heady mix of emotions. Connie is struggling for her independence. This gets severely interrupted, yet she stays defiant and resilient through it all. Neither are good at backing down, making them explosive, and ramping up the intensity between them. Hot, dark romance? You’ll find it here!

Claiming Connie is twisted, dark, and spicy. It was intriguing and the plot was a little unique. Matteo seems like the perfect match for Connie. But, I don't know. I feel like her feelings for him are skewed because during her time of torment, he was her beacon of light as he was the only one of the men to show her kindness and consideration. So, I feel like her feelings towards him is some version of Stockholm. She tends to prefer him over the others because he wasn't brutal and once it was all over, she craved that from him. Also, for everything she went through, she definitely needs therapy. lol. The plot was captivating enough to keep me reading, but I feel like there wasn't enough depth on the characters. I'm looking forward to the next in the series. If you give this one a read, definitely check the trigger warning list first.
Okay so it’s wasn’t the trope that bothered me. The H accidentally r*pes her. He’s a part of some website where people can request dark fantasies. Except someone else filled out the form for h so she had no idea when he kidnapped and took her. Anyway I just find it bizarre that she’s not broken up about it at all when it comes to Matteo. She is traumatized by the other two people who r*ped her but somehow found Matteo not repulsive for doing the same thing. And then she gets roofied and r*ped later in the book. Connie honestly makes very stupid choices.

This is another fantastic book from Aria. While it’s not as dark as Little Doll, it is definitely a dark romance. I loved the story, I just wish there had been more! Matteo and Connie have unbelievable chemistry, two strong wills constantly battling each other. It’s dark and spicy, and I can’t wait for the next book!!
It's very dead dove. What you see is what you get. Read the content warnings, and you know exactly what to expect. Nothing about this story specifically stands out or makes this book stand apart from the dozens like it in the genre. Good for a few hours of distraction but not much else.
In this story, we learn about Connie who has to learn to embrace her dark side while maintaining some of the sweetness she likes to have. Mateo's obsession with Connie is intense, but it was fun to see her grow to love him. This book is filled with humor, hot intimate scenes, and definitely some dark tropes. Heed the trigger warnings before you read.
This book was too boring for me and too over the top, both the book and the MMC. The FMC doesn't have survival instincts at all. It's also insta-love/insta-lust.
Not sure if I'm gonna read the next book. Although Bree sounds intriguing.
I was intrigued right from the start when I started this book. The scenes were good and the story was good. The FMC & MMC were great, but I feel as if there could of been more to it, more to her backstory and a little more on his? This was a nice quick read that I did enjoy though.

I thought the story was good, the characters are what drew me in. Their chemistry and push to each other is what I enjoyed the most in the book. I felt it needed more to the back story of both characters and that it ended roughly.
Oh my lanta! This book is so dark and disturbing, yet so absolutely wonderful! Connie’s story is one of my new favorites. Matteo is so perfect for her, and their connection is beautiful. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
This book had you drawn in from the beginning on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Connie and Matteo have a very interesting story that you couldn’t put down.

Matteo and Connie's story was pretty interesting. She leaves her family behind because they killed her boyfriend. Although she ends up in worse danger. She went thru some pretty awful things. Now I'm going to read about her sister Bree.
An awesome dark romance with a lot of twists. She was running from violence only to end up with more violence. He was tricked into kidnapping her. Check triggers
