So good! Gio and Nina are such an unexpectedly amazing duo. Her back story is one of sadness and grief, but it never stops her from being amazing. I know this is going to be a series and I cannot wait for the rest! Sexy, spicy, and thoughtful!!!

If you're looking for a mafia romance that isn't your typical read, you'll want to read this one. This v!rg!n fmc is a fiesty spitfire with a tragic past and a furry sidekick. I adored watching Nina grow within the pages of this book. And Johnny? Or Giovanni if you're Nina. Absolutely delectable, tattooed, and pierced. Give me more of their story any day. It sucks you in, makes you laugh, and gets you all in your feels.

Ludovico's Vengeance is a mafia romance, but it is written so differently from other mafia romance books. And that's not a bad thing. But I think if you are new to mafia, this is the book for you.

Nina has been held prisoner by her father for her entire life. Until one day she is whisked away to the Ludovico household, where she is treated like a princess, by everyone especially Johnny. Everything comes as a shock to her since she had never been allowed outside of her room, and was never around people. But she quickly adapted, with a few minor setbacks, but was able to grow and become mentally stronger to stand up for herself. But the one thing she did need to ask for help on, was what she was feeling about Johnny. She had never known what love felt like.
I absolutely loved Giovanni and Nina together. She was so sweet and was the perfect opposite to his intensity. But the affection they both showed to each other was written so well. They would both do anything for the other. Which ended up being put to the test in multiple ways. But I wasn't expecting a twist so late into the story, I was shocked with it. But it was a perfect twist I didn't see coming.

so the tropes for this really made me interested in reading and i was expecting a “traditional” mafia romance book but that’s not the case with this one.
the mafia aspect is barely a blip in this and honestly the mmc feels like he’s robin hood and not the heir of a big crime enterprise — barely any violence, he doesn’t deal drugs and despise them, treats the fmc like a princess from day one and we don’t see more of what this mafia entails really… it’s just a side piece of information for why giovanni carries a gun and give orders.
it’s too fast paced with little to no world building — you get thrown in the story right away and it’s mainly about the characters relationships (which feels forced and out of the blue) so we don’t get many information about them prior to what had them meeting and how their world looked like before, mainly giovanni since he’s capo but apparently had a whole life before returning to the family’s business… they felt too superficial and i didn’t connect with them.
also imo the characters have 0 to no depth…nina, the fmc, if explored better would be a complicated, traumatized but strong and determined woman that i could appreciate and relate to, but in the end she comes off as just a too stupid to live girl and all i wanted to do was to slap her.
giovanni, the mmc, is the mafia boss but barely acts like it and treat the girl like a kid.
side characters are important — introduce them right and explore them to their fullest potential and they can add so much value to the story, especially to represent friendships and to give us new point of views of the fmc or the mmc while with different people and not each other. here the mom, the right hand and the auntie barely appear in this.
the idea of the book is a good one but imo not well executed so it fell flat.

January 16, 2026Este libro es un gran no para mi, la verdad es que la mayor parte del tiempo me sentí perdida porque no se profundizó en las historias de vida de los personajes principales, se sentía todo demasiado superficial cosa que hacía que no se pudiera sentir una conexión con lo que se leía. Además Nina venía de una vida horrible y tenía muchísimo potencial su historia pero no se le dió la impotencia suficiente a los traumas que había pasado y su personalidad era incluso infantil y si bien entiendo que no tenía contacto con la gente y que eran obvios sus comportamientos esto se contradecía mucho porque ella era inocente en muchas cosas y de repente interactúaba tan fácilmente con Johnny sobre su sexualidad (que siento que no le dieron la información correcta ya que vivio en una burbuja) y de repente se enamoro de alguien que no conocía y no se... fue extraño todo.

What a freakin' twist! That one took me by surprise for sure. I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to reading the other books connected to this.
Giovanni and Nina had such great chemistry, and seeing her relationships with his mom, Jade, Brittany, and all of the guys grow was awesome. Such great supporting characters in this!

I found I love Mafia and touch her and 💀books! Giovanni just wants to right the wrongs!! And he found someone he loves but what will actually happen AND can he keep her safe?? I could not put this book down!! Sooooo goood! Read warnings as always!

Ludovico’s Vengeance is a Dark Mafia Romance by L. Clara. This is the authors first mafia book and she understood the assignment!
This book follows our MMC, Giovanni Ludovico, who is next in line as head of the Ludovico Family. After the ultimate betrayal, he left the life and started over. That is until he asked for a favor from his mom to help someone in his new life, his moms only request is that he returns to his old life and to his rightful place as Don of the Ludovico Family. During his first day as Don, Mateo Barone stops in to go over a contract that was in place when his Grandfather was Don. To Giovanni’s surprise, during this meeting he learns that Mr. Barone has a secret daughter that has been hidden in a room for the past 24 years that only he and the woman who raised her knows about. Giovanni immediately felt the need to save her and protect her without even meeting her yet, so he sends his men to pick her up and move her into the Ludovico Mansion.
Nina Barone, our FMC, is not your usual prisoner. She is of course beautiful and intelligent but she’s also very innocent and naive. She has never been outside the four walls she lives in. She’s been beaten, at times starved and has only known her tutor Cece and her father. The day Giovanni has his men pick her up, she asks for the very first time in her life, can I touch the grass? Giovanni is immediately taken by her beauty, he knows she’s been through a lot and offers kindness and patience. He takes on the responsibility of her safety and their friendship develops into more and the war that is brewing with Mateo Barone becomes something they cannot ignore.
I loved this book so much, I love how the author shows Nina getting stronger and more confident throughout the book. I also love how he is so gentle and patient with her. He understands that she is coming from a horrible situation and does everything in his power to keep her safe. There is a strong Mafia presence in the storyline which I can appreciate. Sometimes books that fall in the Dark Mafia Romance genre, they miss that and focus on the romance so I was happy about that. There are trigger warnings so please read them and take care of yourself first and foremost. I hope this is the start of a series, I’d love to read more about the main side characters.

This was a wonderfully entertaining mafia romance. The love comes easy for our couple and there's a solid troupe of supporting characters. Giovanni is a strong Capo who's recently taken the mantle back up after getting vengeance.
Part of the fall out of that leads him to seek freeing the daughter of one of his "questionable acquaintances". She's been sheltered and he shows very tender affection to her and helps her find her identity and strength.
I like that she gets empowered but did find some of her boldness a bit too fast, considering she'd been sheltered for 25 years. Very spicy and she seems quickly (too quickly i think) comfortable with it. But those that love lots of spice will be happy! I personally connected with their tender moments more and there were some nice ones!
I also got a squeal when we see the v1olent, protective side to Giovanni, he's so smitten. Some aspects of them I would've liked to explore more deeply emotionally. We touched on heavy topics but only scratch the surface sadly. There was a lot I predicted but I liked spending time with the characters. The third act felt a bit "easy" though with one "twist" that felt a bit stretched. I'm very much liking Michael and Milo though!
Overall, I still quite enjoyed this and found the romance an easy love with instant chemistry and a sprinkling of mafia themes (though nothing outside the box and some things i was left questioning). I would definitely be in for book two because the other two men I wanna hear their stories and want to see how the author evolves from this first mafia book.

I love this book, it was so cute and sweet for a dark mafia romance. It was a little dark at the start and at the end, some torture, violent mafia stuff but most of this book is adorable. I loved watching their relationship grow. The plot was good, I was not bored at all and the ending defiantly was exciting. I loved all the character growth we saw in Nina, she went from a shy, mentally scarred but curious girl who just wanted to touch grass, to this fierce confident mafia wife. And I love how Giovanni started up hating being a mafia don, and insisting being called a different name to embracing it. And honestly all those years away from his family made him into such an amazing man. Nina has been abused and trapped all her life but he’s obsessed at first sight. And he really shows that sweet side of dark romance that haters don’t see, he’s so sweet and respectful even if he has to take care of himself a million a day. I just have three little problems. First off, the book blurb is not exactly a good description of the book, he implies he goes back for Nina, but he meets her after becoming Don. Secondly, I think Nina goes from shy to badass way too fast. One second she’s super shy and next she’s threatening people who try to touch her man. Lastly, I don’t like the name Johnny, it’s really bad, it hurts to read it when anyone calls him that, I’m just glad that Nina calls him Giovanni. Apart from those, it was a nice quote cute darker read, it was a ⅘ for me

This was a fast-paced mafia read for me. I was intrigued just by the opener of the MMC granddaddy balls deep in his girl!!!!! Like I had to know what happened with that. Giovanni that he was leaving the mafia lifestyle behind, but he was brought back in to lead after he took care of his granddad. Learning about all the other shitty things his granddad was doing and people who he was dealing with brought the FMC Nina into the mix. Learning that Nina's story much like Rapunzel's but with mafia aspects pissed him so much that he demanded she come live with him and his family. The way her own parents treated her was horrible... She had never been outside... touched grass... felt the sun hit her face. Could you imagine? So, Giovanni "Johnny" shows her this life that is completely different from what she knows...strangers but people who are quick to fall in love with her. She starts off as this timid shy girl into this fierce isn't taking shit women. The way Giovanni just wants to protect her and ends up loving her was so sweet. He never asked her for more but let her set the pace. But when he demanded for her to be brought to him and unlocked from her cage, her father was not happy because it caused his future plans to use her as a pawn to slip out of his grasp. He would do anything to get her back and continue where he left off with torturing her. Little does he know the little girl he used to beat on was not the same anymore.

Ok ok hear me out… I loved this book 😁, it was not what I was expecting. Is it a mafia romance!? Yes, yes it is, but is different and the plot twist OMGGG!! Now bare yourself cuz the tension in this book will drive u INSANE and it is really a SLOWWW BURNNN!!!
Let me start by saying I LOVE THE MFC on this book, at the beginning I was a little iffy about her cuz you know a forgotten girl, her dad doesn’t care the least about her and she needs someone to fight her battles, well yes that happens BUT there is a twist, she is feisty and strong and a BADA$$ none the less. This girl will have you thinking she doesn’t brake a single plate and she would do what u say but man don’t piss her off - she has a fire within her to save those she loves and I will advise to get out of her way.

Ok ok hear me out… I loved this book 😁, it was not what I was expecting. Is it a mafia romance!? Yes, yes it is, but is different and the plot twist OMGGG!! Now bare yourself cuz the tension in this book will drive u INSANE and it is really a SLOWWW BURNNN!!!
Let me start by saying I LOVE THE MFC on this book, at the beginning I was a little iffy about her cuz you know a forgotten girl, her dad doesn’t care the least about her and she needs someone to fight her battles, well yes that happens BUT there is a twist, she is feisty and strong and a BADA$$ none the less. This girl will have you thinking she doesn’t brake a single plate and she would do what u say but man don’t piss her off - she has a fire within her to save those she loves and I will advise to get out of her way.

If you are after a morally grey mafia daddy MMC and a very sheltered v!rg!n FMC than this is for you!
I loved this book and Nina and Giovanni (Jonny to everyone else but Nina) suck you into their little world of how Jonny is becoming to be the Capo of his families Mafia. Nina while is sweet and innocent has sass and an undeniable attraction to Giovanni. She has been locked up by her father for the past 24 years and its only when Giovanni finds out about her, he has to have her in the safety of his house, and that's when the fun begins. It's spicy and a slow burn but oh such a delicious slow burn.
This is now one of my fave mafia romances and i can't wait to see more come out from this author.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I absolute love mafia romance books. I have never read a book by this author before but it will definitely not be my last. This book was an emotional rollercoaster but oh so sweet. Giovanni was the best boyfriend. He did not set out to be but he was literally everything Nina could want or need in a man. She was also perfect for him. Giovanni had been burned so badly by his own family. He is now back to claim what is his. He never expected to have Nina thrown in his lap. Her life before his was nothing short of traumatic. She was so abused she had never been outdoors or even touched grass. It was absolutely heartbreaking but enduring to witness her get to experience all her life firsts. Giovanni was so patient and caring for her. He made sure she had everything she need but also protected her and loved her in ways she had never known. He would literally burn the world down for her. Giovanni's whole family and staff really took it upon themselves to give Nina a life she could never dream of. The plot twist at the end was not something I saw or predicted coming. Holy cow it was a doosey. This book is so worth the read. If you have never picked up this author before, I highly recommend this book. It was such a heartwarming story.

Ludovico’s Vengeance is not your typical mafia read. It stands out with its heart, spice, and well-developed characters. Johnny is a protective, intense, tatted and pierced male lead who walked away from the mafia life but was called back for a mission. Nina is a sheltered virgin female lead who has a tragic past that she will understand and uncover during the events in the book. I am especially invested in Nina's emotional growth and the deepening bond between her and Johnny. Johnny and Nina's relationship is electric, emotional, and tender. Their opposites-attract dynamic and their affection for each other feels genuine and well-written. The book balances spice, humor, and emotional moments. I was super surprised by late twists in the plot that showcased Nina’s transformation.

I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. My first book by this author and now I want to read more.
Nina went from being a prisoner to her father to queen of the mafia. My heart broke for how she had grown up. But she was rescued and would learn what it was like to truly live and have freedom to do different things. She also had me cracking up at her innocence.
Giovanni was one of those men you couldn’t help but fall in love with. Nina just got thrown into his lap as he came back and took over the family business. He wanted to give her the world and take down anyone who had hurt her. The way he began to soften for her was the sweetest.
The character development was so good. We watched as Nina went from a scared and sheltered prisoner to a beautiful woman who would do anything to protect her new family. She turned into a freaking baddie. And Giovanni went from a grump who was only back home because he had to and turned into a softy with the right woman by his side, but he would take out anyone who dare try to hurt her again.
I also LOVED the side characters! So freaking good. Plus a twist that I did not see coming and had my mouth dropping open.

Couldn’t put this book down! This is my first experience with this author, and boy, she didn’t disappoint!
We start off with our FMC our own little Tink - Nina. Nina lived the Rapunzel Aesthetic locked away in her room with naught but limited access to movies and books. When before you could blink, in swoops her Flynn Rider.
Our MMC, Flynn - AKA Giovanni, tried to escape the mafia bandwagon after finding his GRANDFATHER and his WIFE doing the naked jiggles. He left the city and moved away to become a lawyer when his mother convinced him to come back and do a lot of bad mofo things for the greater good.
That’s when he claims his rapunzel and falls madly in love.
This book, though it do be on the shorter side, has smooth flow of both story and character development. Nina isn’t the little frail weakling you’d expect in a mafia plot! The twists and the turns are second to none and had my jaw dropping.

Ludovico's Vengeance by L. Clara pulled me in right from the opening line. The narrator’s voice is raw and conflicted, he's a man torn between the life he tried to escape and the darkness he's forced to reclaim. You can feel the weight of his past in every word, and yet there's this deep, unshakable sense of loyalty and love that fuels his return.
What gripped me was the dynamic between Ludovico and Nina. The contrast between his brutal world and her innocence adds so much tension. You know it’s not going to be an easy love story—it’s dangerous, emotional, and full of moral gray areas, but that’s what makes it so compelling. I found myself rooting for them despite everything.
The writing is atmospheric and intense. You can practically feel the blood on Ludovico’s hands and the shadows of his choices haunting him. If you're into dark romance with morally complex characters, this one’s worth a read. As soon as the story started and I read of the betrayal Giovanni's grandfather did to him, I felt for him. I felt an instant connection to Giovanni. Then when I met Nina and learned of her back story, that same instant connection was there as well.
It is always a good sign when I can connect to the characters fairly early in the story. Seeing Nina get to experience her new freedom and Giovanni helping to foster it so tenderly is endearing. I felt the chemistry build between them. So, when they shared that first kiss it was great. I loved Giovanni calling Nina "Short Stack". I laughed as my husband is 6"3 and I am 5"4.
Author, L. Clara wrote a lovely story with endearing characters with the right amount of touches of spice.

OMG this was a great book. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was so intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. It was so addicted and mind blowing. Gio and Nina are such an unexpectedly and romance within this mafia world. Love and revenge was on her mind at this time but she never knew that she will be falling in a romance relationship with the danger and giving into temptation as the chemistry between them was spicy hot and the physical attraction was tension and captivating.

I must say this is actually one of the sweetest mafia romance books I've ever read.
And, of course, my favourite character had to be the cat; we all know cats are psychotic little demons.
Poor Nina, locked away her whole life and abused, is rescued shortly before her 25th birthday by Gio, head of the local mafia.
And my gosh, seeing each member of the mafia household work so hard to keep her safe, and seeing Nina heal and grow was awe-inspiring.
This has everything a good book needs: slow-burn romance and spice, gore, kidnappings and twisted but sweet, possessive males.
And, of course, my favourite character had to be the cat; we all know cats are psychotic little demons.

Giovanni is set for revenge. He left his family and became Johnny when he saw his grandfather screwing his girl. It messed with his head and he walked away. When he returns it's to have his revenge, only that's not the only thing he takes revenge for. Once he's home the memories come back.

The Love of a family rescues her and the love of one man imparticular makes her rise above the empire he's building.

I literally stayed up all night until 8 am to finish this book. I fell in love with Giovanni and Nina. Nina had been held as a prisoner, never leaving her room her whole life.
Giovanni had to come back to run the family business... head of a mafia family. When he decided to rescue the daughter of a man who said he had a daughter locked up, Giovanni never expected to open his heart again.
I loved that even with it being a mafia romance, Giovanni didn't push Nina. He did things at her pace. I have already recommended this book to so many people! I loved it!!

OMG!!! This book was so good! For being the authors first Mafia book it was amazing and perfectly spicy and well played out! The way the MMC adores our feisty FMC from the get go is adorable! This man wanted nothing but the best for her and he delivered! The FMC was just so pure but sassy and a whole mood, definitely one of my favorites mafia FMCs!! Their dynamic is just perfect, and will for sure have you raising your standards for men once again! I loved reading this and absolutely will reread it again and again!!
