Just to make that clear in the beginning: This is not a whole book in a series, this is part of a book, that’s been split in three. A book in a series has one arc, that is completed at the end of the book, other stuff can still be open etc.etc.

So – while I dislike this concept of breaking up storylines into several partial books – I knew this before I started reading. I got the first part free on amazon and thought “well, why not, the other two ones are affordable, too, it’s like getting a sample”.

This means – my review is for all “three books”:
When Angels Cry
When Angels Fall
Angels and Demons

Now…actually, the first part must have been good enough for me to buy the second part, right?

Yes, Angel is a sweet character and I liked him. He made a few bad judgments in my opinion but hey, I can’t hold that against him, his life had been horrible so far…..aaaand now comes the rant:
Am I really supposed to believe that a boy, who had been raped for his first time at the age of thirteen, then forced to prostitute himself over years, really enjoys sex? Okay, with the magic ingredient of love and emotions..but with a customer? All the while knowing his little brother is alone at home with the two men who did this to him? *gulp*

And the biiiig issue he and Dane have is solved by a simple “I forgive you”? Angel doesn’t even want to know why?

So, I’m not going into the storyline because I’m writing about all three parts and don’t want to spoil it. Let’s just describe the parts this way:
There is a lot of sex, between side characters (who seem to have their own books) and some between the MCs themselves and both with others, voluntarily and forced. There is rape. There is protected and unprotected sex (okay, short rant: Angel wants Dane to use a condom to fuck him because he doesn’t know about his own health status anymore – yup, had forced bareback sex the day before – but has no problem coming in his mouth). There is sex to console a friend over heart wrenching grief, so deep and profound that he can’t function anymore (okay, some parts obviously still function).

Oh…you heard my sarcasm. Sorry, I tried to keep it away but it slipped in.

All men – yes, as mentioned, there are more – seem to have secrets, issues, deep soul eating troubles (even the ones who seemed to be in a happy relationship). They solve/avoid them mostly by fucking which could have been hot but got repetitive after a while. All sex scenes – and there are many – sounded very similar.

So – this book has sex, humiliation, prostitution, troubles souls, rape, loved up couple, etc. If you like all that, you’ll probably like it. For me it got boring and I was very tempted to skip parts, another soul searching, another sex scene….sorry.
Oh..and I’m going to give the first one two stars – because it was okay. Unfortunately the second and third didn’t really do it for me, they get one star.

I was going to wait until I picked up this third book in Angel's trilogy, the ninth book in the series, but I just couldn't. The way the previous book left me on such a cliffhanger made it impossible for me not to jump right in and see for myself if my guys, all of my guys, were safe, and, well, alive, to be frank. And, to be honest, everything inside of me was screaming for Angel and Maddy to find a way to get away, to be safe, and for Angel and Dane to get their happy ever after, no matter what.

"We’re going to get out, Maddy,” he whispered thickly. “Out of all of this.”
The boy’s hands remained buried in the single front pocket of his pullover hoodie, eyes averted from Angel’s face. “Are we going to ...” He stopped right there with a note of hopefulness in his voice.
Angel’s heart broke all over again. Maddy was so desperate to escape their stepbrothers, that even after his emotions had calmed, he was still ready to take that ultimate leap. Angel had been ready as well. But staring at his little brother now, he knew there was no way he could harm him, not after all this time spent protecting him."

Angel decides one last night at the club, and then he's taking the money and running with Maddy. Except, Max, Cole, and Gabe have found out about Angel being the prostitute whom Wade is pimping at the club. Angel quits and runs out on Cole before he can get fired by Max, although that isn't what the guys were going to do. Angel leaves with a wealthy client and heads back to his penthouse, determined to get the money he needs to escape. Meanwhile Carl, the bartender, finds Dane in the storeroom, having come through the back, and he's in pretty bad shape.

I honestly didn't think this storyline could get much worse for Angel, Maddy, and Dane, but I was so wrong. A heartbreaking ending, for sure. Although, I was glad to see the stepbrothers and their disgusting friend get the crap beaten out of them, and then get arrested. I would've liked torture, but, ah well, such is life. However, the author left me on another cliffhanger, this one with Gabe, and I'm not happy about it. I guess I'll jump into his trilogy sooner than I thought I would.

Skimmed through the book. Not my cup of tea. Way too dark for a romance novel. The romance part for Angel was only evident in the last few chapters. The rest of the chapterd of this book or even the first two books can be grouped into two: (1) raping, and (2) teasers for Gabe/Max's stories (which is by the way a great marketing strategy, hooking readers, making us interested in their stories but I swear, if there's any more raping, I'd probably put it down and call it quits). Everyone gets fucking raped. It's probably 80% abuse, 10% "No, I can't be with him even though I'm in love with him (becuse of some twisted reason) but I'd still give in and then pull back and then give in again", and 10% romance.

Thankfully Angel and Maddy got out of their horrible situation. I was at the edge of my seat in this book. I still did Skip some parts. Cuz I just cannot stomach reading those it's not my cup of tea so I skipped over them.

Just as much pain and agony is Angel has gone through Dane has gone through the same much he was in just as horrible the situation as Angel for a short period of time but he was still in a bad place. I was glad that they were able to save Angel from that fate that he was about to have.

For most part of this book Dane was just unconsolable because he felt like it was his fault even though Max told him that he was in the same place and he could have been hurt just as much with what happened 5 years previously. Though Dane did suffer a fake like Angel did by one of the men that angel had the same problem with from the past.

I was so relieved when Axel finally did something because if I had not read those other books first in the cowboy gangster series I would not have forgiven Axel. Even though it's the last moment he did speak up and save angel or really horrible fate. Thankfully I know him from the other books more and that they're forgiveness is already happened that helps.

I was so happy when Maddie found help and in the form of Clint getting him there that was awesome. I'm worried about Gabriel now Gabe as they call him what went down at the end of this book. At least Dane and Angel are okay. I'm hoping that Max and Horatio can work things out. Maddie and Angel have a place to be now with Max. Plus th club and Dane loves Angel.

Fallen Angel

I love when I get a poke from Amazon, Goodreads, or Bookbud. This one regarded author CJ Bishop. When I double checked my Kindle Library contents I learned I had five bundles: 3 Phoenix Clubs and 2 Cowboy Gangster sets. I read several pages of different samples on Amazon and ended up selecting the Angel Trilogy.

I was quite surprised how erotic this trilogy was and much more disturbing the high level of sexual violence. I have to be honest I just skimmed through several of the sexual scenes and there were quite a few. Established couples and friends offering comfort using the sex to reconnect or console. Sex was also used as a vicious violent weapon.

I need to forewarn future readers some of what happens to helpless victims is cruel and horrifying. The themes of redemption, forgiveness, revenge, brotherly love, friendship, and heartbreak. As is the message that what you do does not define who you are.

FINALLY... Peace enters the life of Angel and his brother Maddy.

I loved this book more then the others because our hero was saved by our hero... LOL read it you'll get it. (its an MM romance)

but what bugged me in this book was how much out of the moment sex that goes on... I get the sex between the dancers and clients... but the sex between friends (Max and Dane) to comfort each other... or because there's nothing better to do (Cole and Gabe) that was annoying... and so out of place.

What I loved was how Axel tried to save his step brother Angel in the end was cool, how Angel tried to come to an understanding of why Axel acted the way he did to the point he could forgive him, that was cool and how Dane finally was able to save Angel in the end.

I also enjoyed the side stories like with Horatio and Seth, man that guy is amazing... I don't think I could have handled the type of relationship Seth had with Horatio. The story of Gabe and Cole should be good which is the next set of stories I'm off to read.

This was so far my favorite book of the Phoenix series I've read... but there are like 3 more trilogies go... so we'll see

Okay seriously she needs to stop with the whole "it's a small world"
Dane and angel having met 5 years before and so on. Abel and the doc's brother, Caleb and the monster and the monsters step son. It's getting old. The stories are wonderfully sad and ends with the perfect happy ending but we need a different twist.

Waiting for what the next book will bring.
Oh one more thing if c.j bishop is actually reading this then I have a recommendation. Please send us an email so we know that the books are out
I came by the angel series by an accident. I even posted on amazon about when the books will be out. No respond from her.....

Any way loved it although it was predictable. But please provide us with a different twist. It was a five star but I will only give it a 3 because the suspension wasn't the same as the other three series.

and I really wanted to know what happened to Angels other brother. Wade and Byrd was off to prison but what about axel?

OMG - with everything that Angel went through this book took a bit to get through. I had to keep putting it down because of the heartache. I'm glad he got his HEA even if it was just a tad unrealistic in how he and Dane finally got together.
If the editing on these books would be a bit better, I probably would have enjoyed them a tad bit better, however, even with those silly little mistakes, it was a very good story and the writing was done pretty well...

What holds me back every time on giving these books a 4 star rating is the lack of trigger warnings. I personally don't have triggers, but I know there are a LOT of readers out there who do, and a bit of a warning would be very warranted with these books. That and the editing are really my only complaints about these books.

5 stars doesn't do this book justice !
Wow !! There were so many demons in this, the final part of Angel's story, that i wondered if the angels would prevail and defeat the demons. It was a highly emotional read especially when Angel & Dane's secrets are revealed. I thought Angel had gone through hell in the previous 2 books but that's nothing to what he goes through in this one, and all in the name of protecting his brother from the evilness of Wade. The last few chapters damn near broke me and i had to keep pausing my reading to regain my composure i was crying so hard for Angel and Maddy.
Absolutely fantastic read and again kudos go to CJ for keeping us wanting more by adding snippets from Gabe/Cole & Max/Horatio.

If you haven't read the rest of the trilogy, don't read this review. Some may say it contains spoilers!

Wow! Just ... Wow! I know that romance books usually have happy endings. This trilogy was no different. But ... What a roller coaster of emotions you go through when reading Angel to get to that blissful ending. The details throughout (although sometimes horrific) are a necessity and you can't stop reading. Dane and Angel belong together. They are destined. Will we ever find out what happened to Wade, Byrd and Axel? What's going on with Cole and Gabe? I want to know and I sure as hell hope CJ keeps on writing more and more about the Phoenix Club. Another beautifully harrowing love story.

It wasn't my favorite of this series unfortunately. I thought it was a little too much for my taste, it was a mix between abel's story and caleb's story and I found there was a lot of recycling of the same plot lines. Besides angel was frustrating at times, his little brother was smarter than him often and him and Dane spent very little time together throughout the three books. I'll admit the raping got a bit uncomfortable when you read that series in one go like I'm doing so I guess ending calebs story to start this one and having once again the same rape arc well it got.... Old and uneasy....

Wow, this book has so much action and depth to it. Maddy is such a great kid you can't help but love him. And poor Angel just keeps getting dealt a horrible hand in life, I honestly don't know how he survived, if it weren't for Maddy he would have killed himself a very long time ago. And I'm still upset with Dane, but now I understand a lot more and I'm truly happy him and Angel are working it out. But seriously Max and Horatio need to pull their heads out of their asses already, and same goes for Gabe, what the hell is he messing with now.

Loved this 3 parter of the series!! So much drama and angst and depressing story lines. But as in all these books a good ending was achieved.
Now Horatio and Max and Gabe need sorting out.
I have loved the on going sub plot of Max I just want their story settled. You just know that its going to b heart wrenching.
More phoenix club books needed.

after reading the first Abel book, i knew this was also going to be an emotional roller coaster. But decided to stick with this book and buy the other 2 parts. Very hot scenes, emotionally grabbing events. My complaint is that is not longer, at least at the end, ties it all together quickly before the last love scene, wish it was more. Recommend as a read, will read more from this author.

This one was full action packed and dean turned me around but still a little angry with him.

Maddy is main focus for Angel and all hell breaks out.

This book is full of emotion and I love how Angel thinks the boys at the club isn't his friends but they are always there in the background.

read it and enjoy it.

more like 3.8* - too bad that both Angel and Dane suffered too much apart and when they finally got to have and be with each other, it was too short part of the last chapter.
