This was such a poignant story and very uplifting. It explored friendship in a beautiful way and in a beautiful place. It's funny how our life choices can change the future and how complex they can be at times. Is there room for second chances? In this story, Low weaves two tales, one in 1990 and one in 2025. Both timelines are about Moira, Carina and Lisa. Three singers who were together all those years ago in Hong Kong.

In the earlier timeline, the three young ladies are living their lifelong dream, singing in a fancy hotel bar. They have an incredibly close bond until Moria makes a decision that changes them and their lives forever. When we get to 2025, Moria retires and goes back to Hong Kong to face a reunion with Carina and Lisa. The author clearly shows how much the ladies have changed, inside and out, but she also shows how nostalgia can bring grace. The characters are well-thought-out individuals, and their emotions are at the forefront. We find out the hows and whys of their relationships and the circumstances that helped shape these ladies. I was completely invested in them.

This was a book that celebrates female friendships and the ties that bind us. We shouldn't be afraid to chase our dreams or confront the past. It reminded me that even after years of being apart, the bonds of true friendship never break. What I took away from this story was the fact that we should be brave and not be afraid to take on something new. Highly recommended to those who love women's fiction, which will tug at your heartstrings and include moments of humour, heartbreak, and hope. I loved the optimism in this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I've said it before and I will say it again, if Shari Low writes it, I will read it! I love her characters, her plots, the relationships in her books, and her writing. In One More Day of Us, Shari Low writes about friendships, dreams, love, marriage, heartbreak, family, and finding your voice! This book is told in dual timelines of 1990 and 2025. I found myself both cheering for the characters, feeling for their heartbreak, and happy for their triumphs.

In 1990, Moira, Carina and Lisa are three young women with big dreams. They are singers who perform nightly in a swanky hotel in Hong Kong and party the night away. They are young, carefree, and embracing their youth. This is a pivotal time in each of their lives.

In 2025, Moira has invited Carina and Lisa to join her in Hong Kong for a reunion. They have sent holiday cards and letters over the years, but it will be the first time in 30 years since they have all been together.

I enjoyed this tale of friendship and enjoyed looking back with the women in this book. Thirty years is a long time, and the women have grown and changed in various ways. This book looks at dreams, love, loss, music, family, choices, and how all those things shaped their lives.

Shari Low writes characters that I grow to care about. She has a knack for writing about relationships and personal growth that really appeals to me. Her characters feel realistic and like individuals I would want to spend time with.

Wonderfully written, well thought out, charming, and hard to put down!

Dear Lisa and Carina,
. . . Chums, do you realise that this summer, it will be exactly thirty-five years since we met in Hong Kong? July 1990. Oh my, what a time to be alive that was. And it did get me thinking . . . Aye, brace yourselves for this one. Now that I'm no longer constrained by my sea schedule and have developed a f*** it, life's too short attitude (that came with the landslide situation, menopause and the arrival of a new credit card), I'm going to take a trip back to Hong Kong. I want to explore it again, I want the nostalgia, the memories, and I want to see if the twenty-three-year-old me is still there, because lord knows, I lost her somewhere along the years.
Here's the crunch part. I'd love some travel buddies, but there's no one I'd like to do this with other than the two friends for life I met there. So how about a wee trip down memory lane, ladies? Hong Kong, the three of us, for one week in July. I know at first glance that seems crazy, but why not? It's been over three decades since I've seen your faces in real life, so surely it's time for an encore. Let's do it. Let's just bloody do it. Lisa, I don't want to hear all the reasons it's not a good idea. And Carina, I couldn't care less if you already have glamorous plans with far more important people. The twenty-something us deserve this. And the fifty-something us deserve this even more.
I've already looked into it and here's my plan . . .

ABOUT 'ONE MORE DAY OF US': Would you give up your dreams for love? ❤️

1990: In a hot, humid Hong Kong summer, three young singers are loving life, performing to packed crowds every night in a swanky hotel bar. Twenty-three-year-old Scottish songbird, Moira Chiles is living the dream alongside Carina Lloyd and Lisa Dixon. They work hard, play hard, and always stick together… until one day Moira has to make a choice that changes everything.

Fast forward to…

2025: In a wet, chilly, Glasgow summer, Moira has just retired after singing in Glasgow pubs and Caribbean cruise ships for three decades. Now she’s ready for a new adventure – one that takes her to Hong Kong to revisit a world she left behind. Moira hasn’t seen Carina or Lisa for over thirty years, but will an invitation to join her on a holiday of a lifetime rekindle the friendships that changed her life? Or will stepping back in time expose secrets that could break their hearts?

MY THOUGHTS: A lovely, heartwarming read about the bonds of friendship.

If you ever wondered where your young, vibrant self went, this is the book for you. How easy it is to lose sight of your dreams and your friends, as you age. It takes a brave person to look at themselves and say, 'Hey, I want my younger self back. I want my friends back in my life,' and then go do something about it.

Perhaps it doesn't go quite to Moira's plan, but that's okay, it makes for a wonderful and, at times, heart-wrenching read. Shari Low captures perfectly the freedom loving spirit of youth and contrasts it with the complexities of life as we age. Friendships wax and wane; people disappear from our lives; children arrive; we move house/countries - life gets in the way. But sometimes, you just need your old friends around you.

This reunion takes some unexpected turns as the women traverse the gap between who they were in 1990 and who they are now. Old memories resurface, a couple of mysteries are solved and possibilities for the future open up.

A read that ticks all the boxes and is best read listening to a Stevie Nicks soundtrack.

I combined reading with listening to the audiobook of One More Day of Us written by Shari Low and superbly narrated by Helen McAlpine.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

It was 2025 when Moira Chiles of Glasgow, decided the time was finally right. She wanted to get her friends back together; the friends she joined back in 1990 when they sang in pubs and bars in Hong Kong, well-loved and popular. It was a time that memories were made of - six months of love, laughter, fun and wild abandon. She had sent the invitations to both Lisa and Carina, whom she hadn't seen for around thirty years. Would they come? Would they join her for a look down memory lane?

Carina had just had a life shattering moment when she recalled Moira's invitation and instantly knew that was the answer. She immediately booked her flight and headed for Hong Kong. Lisa had also received the invitation and decided, hell yes, she was going. Would a week's holiday in a place that held such vivid memories be the right choice? Or would those memories hold heartache and secrets?

One More Day of Us is another spectacular book by Shari Low. Love and loss, friendship that survives the years, heartache and ultimately, second chances fill One More Day of Us and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The three women, whose Hong Kong lives began in similar fashion, ended up being vastly different. But their friendship remained. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for my digital ARC to read and review.

I received a free copy of, One More Day of Us, by Shari Low, , from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Moira, Carina, and Lisa used to sing together, until Moira wanted a solo career. Over 30 years have passed and Moira is ready to retire, and plans a trip to Hong Kong. This was a good read about friendship, travel, jobs, and love.

Shari Low’s One More Day of Us is a sweeping tale of friendship, music, and the passage of time set in the vibrant energy of Hong Kong in 1990. The story told through dual timelines, 1990 and 2025. Rich with themes of passion and nostalgia, One More Day of Us offers a reflection on everyone’s first relationships in adulthood. Most of us can relate to our very first true friendships but very few of us keep them throughout our lives. Low does a masterful job at describing the characters and why their brief time in Hong Kong was unforgettable.

The novel begins in 1990 Hong Kong, setting a lively stage for readers with vivid imagery of the bustling city. Here, we meet twenty-three-year-old Maura, Carina, and Lisa, three singers performing at a classy hotel bar for an enthusiastic crowd. These young women, despite their different backgrounds, are united by their passion for music and an exhilarating sense of freedom.

Shari Low’s descriptions of Hong Kong during this time are mesmerizing, immersing readers in the heat and lively atmosphere of the city. The cacophony of street vendors, the neon lights illuminating the night, and the humid air thick with possibility all come alive on the page. Low masterfully captures their adventurous yet carefree spirit as the women live life to the fullest during their six-month stint. However, as the summer progresses, cracks begin to appear in their idyllic existence.

When their contracts come up for renewal, a pivotal decision must be made. Maura, eager to chase a solo career, decides to leave Hong Kong for new opportunities, while Carina and Lisa also feel the pull of other responsibilities. This departure introduces an intriguing layer of regret to their storyline, casting doubt on whether their parting was too hasty.
Fast forward 35 years, and One More Day of Us, where the characters have aged and moved in vastly different directions. Maura recently returned home after a career that spans cruise ships and pubs, fueled by an unyielding love for music. Carina is now grappling with the end of her seemingly perfect marriage after discovering her husband’s betrayal. Meanwhile, Lisa, the most talented, has lived a very mundane life wishing to be out of the spotlight, making sure her daughter, Stevie, does the same.

Most of the novel is told through the perspectives of Maura, Carina, and Stevie. Maura's narrative offers a reflective, almost wistful outlook after decades of pursuing her singing passion in a less glamorous world than she once imagined. Carina’s story introduces tension as she navigates the fallout of her marriage and rediscovers a sense of self. Stevie provides the balance between the past and present, allowing the strong friendships of 1990 to resonate across generations. What happened to her mother? Why did she just hide away? What secrets did she hide?

Where One More Day of Us truly has an exciting and engaging start. The 1990 sections of the novel are painted with rich, sensory language that pulls readers directly into the story. You can almost taste the food, feel the heat on your skin, and hear the applause for the friends’ performances. It’s a joy to experience the characters’ carefree days and see Hong Kong through their youthful eyes.

However, the ending does not live up to the powerful beginnings. Without giving too much away, the final chapters veer toward overly sentimental territory, creating an ending that feels more fitting for a Hollywood movie. The emotional impact that builds throughout the book is dampened by an ending that appears too neatly tied together, leaning on clichés rather than complexity.

While there are clear moments of brilliance in the novel's writing and characterizations, readers hoping for an ending that reflects the complexity of the characters’ journeys may leave them feeling bittersweet. For those who enjoy immersive stories about friendship and second chances (and don’t mind a touch of sentimentalism), this book still holds plenty of charm. Fans of lighthearted women’s fiction will find warmth and relatability in these pages.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely, though with tempered expectations. Prepare to be swept away by the writings of Low, depicting the beauty of 1990 Hong Kong and the emotional ties of enduring friendship—even if the ending doesn’t fully deliver on its early promise.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the Advanced Readers Copy of the book. All opinions are my own.

I just LOVE this authors books…

This time we travel between 1990 and 2025 and meet ( or re meet as some characters are known to us ) Moiira,Carina and Lisa and basically see how their reunion in Hong Kong goes, will all 3 turn up? Will they still have that bond forged within the best time of their lives, will it be everything they want

It’s funny, sad ( one part especially so ),emotive, romantic but all with the main thread being about friendship, women’s friendship and what it means to them

There are many mini stories within the main story that all, as only this author can do, come together within a time frame and all work together to get to the end result for everyone in the book

Hong Kong is described tantalisingly in every way and you could smell the food, hear the wonderful chaos and feel the humidity as well as experience the hotels and bars

Again I have to say I LOVE this authors work,it’s reassuringly reader focused and guarantees a wonderful experience every time for everyone in and out of the book

Well. If you don’t know me by now, you should at the very least know that for me Shari Low and Helen McAlpine are the dream team, this title didn’t disappoint. You can guarantee to finish the book having had a laugh, found some friends, met a few old faces and more often than not shed a tear or two or at the very least have had a trembly lip. If you’re on the hunt for aunt Val though you’ll be disappointed, there’s not even a hint of her hairspray.

In this instalment there’s a slight difference in that one day is spread over a week in Hong Kong when Moira decides to contact the two old pals she worked there with more than 30 years ago and ask them to meet her there for a trip down memory lane. We’ve met Moira before of course, the mother of Ollie Chiles and there are a number of other little cameos, I always love this about the authors work. What was that so many degrees from Kevin Bacon thing? It’s like that but they’re Shari Low characters. No full on tears this time but definite trembly lip moments.

Filled not only with music references this time but actual musicians. Prepare to lose yourself in this one. It is predictable but it really didn’t matter. Beautiful as always.

Helen McAlpine as always is fantastic 🎧

Moira and her friends Lisa and Carina were all in Hong Kong in the nineties and they all had blossoming musical careers. As time often proves, going separate ways can suddenly put decades between friendships that seemed certain to last forever.

It is present day in 2025 and the women, all who have led separate lives, go back to Hong Kong. Although Moira is hopeful that seeing both Carina and Lisa will heal old wounds, she also hopes that the three of them will have the opportunity for second chances.

One feeling that I got while reading this book is the saying that “you can’t go home again”. Their lives, circumstances, and even personalities have changed. But, this second chance story is truly one that shows the depth of female friendships, and how old wounds can be healed, even through tears and sadness.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn how prolific Shari Low has been as a writer, especially as this is my first novel by her. Her storytelling is masterful, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to finally have had the chance to read one of her books.

Many thanks to Boldwood Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

One More Day of Us by Shari Low is a heartwarming and uplifting story that beautifully captures the spirit of youth and the complexity of growing older. At its core, the novel is about freedom; the kind that comes from being in a new place where no one knows your name, and you can be whoever you want to be. That sense of adventure and possibility gives the book a fun, breezy vibe that’s instantly engaging.

But what makes this story special is how it balances that youthful energy with a poignant exploration of time, change, and reconnection. The main characters, now in their late fifties, reunite in Hong Kong after years of lost contact. It's the city where they once spent a year singing in nightclubs and forming deep friendships. As they navigate the gap between who they were and who they’ve become, the novel explores how friendships evolve, how memories linger, and how it’s never too late to rediscover yourself or each other.

And if you are an avid Stevie Nicks fan like I am, you'll thrive on all the musical references woven throughout the story.

Shari Low’s writing is warm, engaging, and full of heart. Whether you’re drawn to stories of second chances, nostalgic reunions, or just want an escapist read with emotional depth, One More Day of Us ticks all the boxes.

In a change from the usual "One Day" books from the wonderful Shari Low this novel takes place over one week and thirty five years previous.
Before starting work at the local theatre group Moira Chile's ( met previously in One day and Forever) writes to old friends Carina and Lisa, inviting them for a nostalgic holiday in Hong Kong where they met as enthusiastic singers decades earlier.
Yet again Shari treats us to a great read. It's heart warming and heart breaking but also with moments of humour. Her characters are friendly and you really could imagine sitting having a drink with them and being friends. I love how this series also keeps us in contact with previous characters.

One More Day of Us is another wonderful read by Shari Low. Told in two time lines we read about Moira, Lisa and Carina who are living their best lives in Hong Kong in 1990 and we fast forward to current day and Moria has just retired from being a singer on cruises and in pubs around Glasgow. The time has come for a reunion in Hong Kong with her 2 friends but as they haven’t seen each other for many years will things be the same ?
Right from the prologue this book had me hooked and I knew it wouldn’t take me long to finish it as it was without doubt going to be an unputdownable read. And again with all Shari’s books I’ve read so far I wasn’t wrong. The descriptions of Hong Kong were described so well and having been there myself back in the mid 90’s it took me right back there to the sights and smells of this wonderful city. The characters were brilliant and it was an emotional read at times. We were previously introduced to the characters of Moira Chiles and her actor son Ollie in the previous book One Day and Forever, but this book can 100% be read as a standalone. If you would like to read a book about long lasting friendships, making memories and being there for your friends whatever life throws at you I highly recommend this superb read .

Finally finished this. It’s a short book but I found it so slow and had to read others in-between. I did enjoy parts of the book but it never reached a certain page where you are hooked for the rest of the book. Towards the end, I thought finally, it’s a bit more interesting and but no, it fell flat again.

One More Day of Us
I absolutely loved this book. Being stationed in Hong Kong in the early ‘80’s it brought back many happy memories and was very evocative of the time there particularly the heat and intense humidity.
In present day Glasgow Moira now a retired cruise and pub singer thinks back to 1990 when she was a hotel singer in Hong Kong and met lived and worked with two other girls in their early twenties Carina and Lisa. Having lost touch with them over the years Moira decides to book a holiday of a life time to return to Hong Kong writing to them both to join her there.
The story goes back to their time in Hong Kong and to their present lives in 2025, it does this seamlessly and we learn much about these three and their subsequent lives.
This is a beautiful engaging and engrossing story of love and deep friendship. A wonderful cast of characters that are so well described you instantly can picture each of them and it is a joy to read.
I well remember going to the hotel lounges/bars to watch and listen to the acts and they were all wonderful and this book captures the atmosphere authentically and stirred up a lot of wonderful memories for me.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

I absolutely loved this book! It swept me away from the first page and was full of emotion and nostalgia and lovely characters. The writing is warm, vivid, and filled with heart. This was my second book by Shari Low and it definitely didn't disappoint. Moira’s journey is both poignant and empowering, and the themes of friendship, choices, and second chances were handled with such care. This is one of those books that will linger long after you've turned the last page. A total gem!

4.5 stars - This book broke my heart and mended it again. The ultimate story of friendship, love and life. I wanted all three women to have a that happy ending. Every time it seemed like life was throwing the worst possible hurdle in their way my heart broke but the way they found each other and found happiness in friendship really warmed my heart. I wanted to be their friend. It did take me a little while to get into it, but once I got my head wrapped around the characters and the where things were going I couldn’t put it down.

I rated this up. It was a fun and cozy read. This is normal the type of cliché story for me, but I didn't mind it as much. I love fleshed out friendships, especially between women and this one was well-done in my opinion. I would had rated a 3.75, but I did enjoy it, just don't find it to me something I would pick up again.

If you are the type of person that does not like stories to start of with letters... skip this.

In a story of second chances, the author writes a poignant and uplifting tale of friendship and how every tiny choice impacts our future. There's two timelines, 1990 and 2025, and both involve the women. Moira, Lisa abs Carina who met as entertainers in Hong Kong. In the 1990s we see their lives playing out and them forming their close bond until Moira suddenly makes a decision that changes their dynamic forever.
Then in the 2025 timeline, Moira retires and decides to go back to Hong Kong and face the ladies she hasn't seen in decades. So much has changed, including the fact that Lisa has passed, but the daughter they didn't know she had comes to meet them and they get to know her and Lisa as an adult through her daughter.
Such an emotional story of the power of female friendship and how there are some bonds that can never be broken no matter the time or distance.

Shari Low has such a gift for writing stories with characters who are so well-developed. As always, I felt like I was there watching all the drama unfold in real time. I loved that some of the characters from One Day and Forever were back for this one. I enjoyed the continuation of their stories being tied into the stories of new additions in this book!

It was a lovely, heartwarming, easy read that was perfect for summer.

Splitting the narrative between two time frames (1990 and 2025) and through the different characters' voices helped to unravel the plot well. The characters were very well constructed - Moira was fantastic as the lead protagonist, but they all held their own.

My issues were around the obvious aspects of the plot - I'm not a huge fan of chick lit for its predictability, and this was certainly no exception.

A happy, feel-good, easy read.
