This children's book tells a lovely story about a character who struggles to keep up a cherished baking tradition but is determined to find a way to make it work. I really enjoyed how the story shows that traditions do not have to be perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes adapting them to fit your circumstances is what matters most.
The illustrations are adorable and perfectly suited for young readers. They complement the story well and add warmth and charm to every page.
The book is easy to follow, age-appropriate, and carries a positive message about perseverance, family traditions, and finding your own way when things do not go exactly as planned.
Overall, this is a fun and heartwarming read that would make a wonderful addition to a child's bookshelf, especially for families who enjoy baking together or have their own special traditions.

I easily give this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is so beautifully written, and the editing is so seamless that the whole story just flows naturally from start to finish.
The illustrations bring Axel’s world to life in such a genuine, grounded way. Axel is curious, eager to learn, and simply trying to find his own independence—the kind of child you instantly root for. I loved that the mishaps feel so real, like the dough turning into a sticky, gooey mess. It is such a natural, everyday mistake that any kid would make, showing them that messing up is just part of exploring. His friend Ava is wonderful too: sweet, helpful, and truly bright. Seeing them together reminded me of that quote, "Children are not less intelligent, they just think differently."
This is truly a must-have on any child's bookshelf. It leaves young readers with such an encouraging, positive reminder to stay curious, keep learning, and never be afraid to try new things.

Saturdays are baking days for Axel and his mum. However, this Saturday, his parents need to help his grandparents. Alex is very disappointed.
In the end, he decides to start baking alone. When something goes wrong, he calls his friend Ava for help. Instead of the buns they were intended to make, they made something very different.
This was a fun read. I can’t imagine the mess they created in the kitchen.
A story about problem-solving, perseverance and friendship. Children will laugh a lot at this story.

The kids try to bake something for the family but it's not as easy as they thought. Following the adventures of the baking is fun to watch through the wonderful illustrations that are included with the book. But something unexpected happens and everything turns out fine. Wonderful family read.
