Aetheria is on the edge of collapse, and its fate lies in the hands of those who have suffered its deepest betrayals. Brea, bound to the mysterious Heart of Aetheria, must harness its power as darkness closes in. With allies who may not be what they seem and secrets lurking in every shadow, she faces a perilous journey that will test her strength and challenge her beliefs. The realm's hope is threatened by a rising force of ancient magic, and enemies grow stronger each day. As the stakes heighten, Brea and her companions must unravel long-buried truths, confront their own fears, and decide what they are willing to sacrifice to protect Aetheria from a looming darkness. Rich in suspense, magic, and unforgettable characters, Pages of The Heart of Aetheria is an epic fantasy adventure filled with unexpected twists, fierce battles, and a story of courage that will resonate long after the final page. Perfect for fans of thrilling, character-driven tales set in a world where every choice has the power to change destiny.
This is the second novella in The Pages of Destiny, which follows Brea as she tries to prevent Seraphina from opening the Void Gate and unleashing Darkness onto Aetheria.
This starts out strong with Brea, Lyra, and Caspian ready to figure out how Brea can control the power within the Heart better in order to be the key that saves Aetheria - instead of its doom.
There are moments where the story mirrors the first novella in that it progresses a little too quickly or illogically. For example, a scene in the library has plot holes in how the individuals were uncovered so easily, why on earth Brea chose her reactions, and why her comrades were left completely fine. If you can ignore how odd that section is laid out, everything else seems to fall into place before and afterward. Although I did want to yeet Lucian into next week practically every third page, there was still enough going on in secondary storylines to not make that portion of the book drag too much.
Otherwise, the language in this book was beautiful. The authors voice is clear and concise, and you can tell they truly love the genre they write in because it's done with a passion and clarity that only comes from obsessively reading the same genre in depth. This was a massive improvement on the first book, and I hope she takes time in the future to rewrite the initial one, as it would do this series so much justice.

Thank you to the author, LCB, for the digital ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Brea learns what it means to truly be tested and how difficult the choice can be when the lines of doing what’s right and being loyal/coerced are blurred. 💔 This book had me on the edge of my seat, to the point I read it in one sitting. 👀😅 This is one of the best YA books I’ve read in quite awhile and I can’t wait for the next one! Seriously though, the way it ended is KILLING me! 💀✨
SO GOOD! I loved getting to know the other characters a little more. The book was fast paced but written so well I was able to play it like a movie in my head. The ending had me feeling many different emotions but I don’t want to give anything away. Can’t wait for the next book , hopefully it comes soon.
Book #2 in the Pages of Destiny series did NOT disappoint! Love, friendship, hope, and the determination of the characters in The Heart of Aetheria leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait for book 3!
Brea’s story comes to a thrilling conclusion as her friends fight to find and rescue her from her captors that want to take her power all to themselves. It’s a fast paced story full of the same lovable characters introduced in book 1 as well as some newcomers to the fold.
This continued the series excellently and it was a very enjoyable yet quick and easy read. I loved it and found myself wanting to know more about what happens after this ending when so many threads are still unknown, but the main plot points of the novels were hit very well and it makes sense to even leave it here instead of continuing. Who knows. Either way, I loved it!
