The Disciple's Way: Daily Reflections for Lent

Rate this book
Forward Movement began with a bold summons to follow Jesus. The first publication, The Disciple’s Way, issued a stirring call to individuals and the wider church to practice seven steps of turn, follow, learn, pray, serve, worship, and share.

That call is as urgent today as it was 90 years ago.

In this season of Lent, embrace the seven steps with encouragement from the original publication and daily meditations written by current leaders of the church. As the first Disciple’s Way promised, this journey is high adventure, requiring time, effort, pluck, and money. Following Jesus is not easy, but it is The Way.

An average book of reflections for Lent covering what it means to be a disciple. Lacking in diversity, lacking in female voices or their discipleship. I’d recommend this devotional primarily to those with traditional/conservative views of God. If I were to describe this devotional in one word, the word is “safe.”

I have done many Lenten meditations over the years. This one is one of the most memorable, insightful and meaningful ones I have ever done. Each day gave me something to think about as I walked through Lent and saw ways I succeeded and failed at being a disciple. It also gave me courage and strength to continue to seek and grow as a disciple of Jesus.

Lenten inspiration.

I liked all the readings. Very thought provoking. Scott Gunn does a great job at Forward Movement and Lent Madness.
