Stormy Night is a cute story about a bear that is frightened of a storm but, soon finds himself comforting his toy rabbit and parents too by singing the song his mother sung to him when he was a little cub.

We loved Stormy Night. It’s a great read – one that many children will be able to connect to because most will find themselves in the same predicament – and like us, we have been in this same situation. It’s a very realistic story but one that’s very sweet and enjoyable to read.

1. When I was your age, we had storms that I remember very vividly. I remember cuddling with my bear, named Bear, Bear. The story we are going to read is about Bear. He tries many different ways to cope with the storm outside. Whether it is with his stuffed animal, or hugs with Momma bear. Stormy Night is by Salina Yoon. She was born in Busan, Korea in 1972, and moved to the United States in 1976. There is a website that we can visit to learn more about her and the books that she has written. Le ...more

Living in Florida means that we have pretty bad storms about 4-6 months of the year, so I really would see how this book could be used by parents and teachers to discuss ways to overcome storm anxiety. I could see a class that is being held (sometimes for hours) in class after dismissal because of a storm sitting around reading this book and discussing how a storm can be scary but that the end would come soon. I, being from tornado alley, had storm nightmares for years and storm

Since the release of Found I have been eagerly awaiting the companion title. Last week it arrived at my favorite indie bookstore, McLean & Eakin Booksellers in Petoskey, Michigan. Stormy Night (Bloomsbury, January 6, 2015) written and illustrated by Salina Yoon covers a fear felt by many children. I know...I was one of them for decades.

My full recommendation:

I love Yoon's work. She has this simplicity that is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, but then she includes details I just love--like in this one, the heart-shaped nose on Bear's stuffed bunny and Bear's toy dinosaur standing on the windowsill facing the storm. She contrasts the storm with the bright, cheerful inside of the house, and I love how these bear parents handle this situation with such good humor. Really solid.

I love how Saline Yoon captures the emotions of her characters that they are experiencing.
I read this for "rainy day" storytime with my pre-k/kindergarteners and they enjoyed it. Both kids and their grown-ups chimed in to sing the bears' song with me. :)

Bold, cheery illustrations and reassurance that it's possible to weather a storm, even when it's scary. Would be a good choice for storytimes about rain.

It's a stormy night and little bear is scared. But, he sings a song and comforts his rabbit and his mom and his dad.

When the storm gets worse, his parents turn the tables and do the same things to comfort him.

In time, he goes to sleep and so does the storm.

A lovely story about being scared of a thunderstorm. Bear has his best stuffy rabbit to keep him company but will need some additional help from mom, papa, and a book, to make it through this night.

Cute story of how Bear and his parents deal with a stormy night. Might be handy if you have a little one who is afraid of storms. We don't, but it's so cozy that my 3 1/2 year old loves it.

I did not like this book because I do not like stormy nights. I also did not like this book because this book was about stormy nights.

What do you do to keep youngsters' fear at bay when storms rage? It seems that author Salina Yoon's Bear family has the right answer--comforting others. In Stormy Night, a picture book for ages 3-6, Bear can't sleep because of a storm. He comforts his bunny with a loving verse and feels better. The storm keeps rumbling, and Bear keeps repeating the words to bunny until Mama comes to check on him, saying that she wants to stay with him because she is afraid. Soon Papa joins them. Kisses, tickles, ...more

If you read the book Found, then you'll recognize the characters Bear and his stuffed bunny, Floppy. This is a sequel of sorts, where Bear is spending the night in his bedroom with Floppy while a thunderstorm rages outside. Bear's parents join him, claiming that they were frightened by the storm, and Bear finds ways to comfort all of them as they ride out the bad weather together. It's a nice story, and I was glad to see Bear and Floppy the stuffed bunny again since I enjoyed their first book so much. ...more

A good story with cute illustrations, Stormy Night is about a young Bear who's afraid of a night time thunder storm. Through Bear's story, young readers will be able to see how Bear tries to comfort himself. When that doesn't work, his parents help soothe his fears. Simply told, this is a story that will easily hold the attention span of young readers. I love the simple, bright illustrations, which add to the book's appeal for toddler aged readers. I'd definitely recommend this book, and it's on ...more

What an adorable picture book! This would be a great story to share with young children who are frightened by stormy weather. It's a dark and stormy night at bedtime. Bear hugs his stuffed bunny tightly and sings to it, but then the thunder starts booming. Thankfully, Mom and Dad come to comfort him and before long the storm goes to sleep and so can the Bear family. The digital illustrations are wonderful. My favorite is Bear's feet sticking out from under the bed after the first loud thundercla ...more

I love thunder storms..but I also like them in safe in a house. Bears is bothered by the storm but he has his bunny Floppy to help him.

A very nice, sweet book for kids who are scared of storms (I know I was as a kid) I love that is reenforces that moms and dad will be there through the storms. I love that Bear is even concerned about Floppy. So he decides a book will help calm down Floppy through the thunder storm. The author of the book is "Bear E. Goodbook". I love cute little det
The loveliest line in this book is from Mama Bear: "May I stay with you tonight? I am so frightened of the storm!" And of course, this little bear, on a stormy evening, welcomes his Mama, and later his Papa too, speaking about how loud the storm is. For those who have children who are scared of storms, this book will help. Bright colors fill the pages of a loving family taking care of each other. The ending is perfect.
