Infidelity, deceit, distrust, and shame. Unfortunately, these are recurring themes in many of today’s marriages in America—even in the family-values-promoting, Christian-based Robertson

Scandals, affairs, stealing money from the empire duck business, this isn't your typical read from the Duck Dynasty family. But then again, you wouldn't understand the redemption that God has done in Al and Lisa's heart, let alone their marriage. They are far from perfect, but perfect for one another and saved by grace. This book is a testament that God can and continues to use evil for good. It comes with a cost, but it is worth the cost. I also loved how honest Al and Lisa were throughout the ...more

Very quick read that made me squirm more than once because it felt like I was invading the private lives and struggles that this couple had endured through the years. It is a book of respect and love that came very late to two very broken people. Hard to read but knowing that in the end God has plans for us for good if we will only listen.

I read this in one Sunday afternoon. It was an excellent, excellent story of brokenness and redemption. I really appreciate the authors' humbleness in telling the entire story of their past in order to reveal God's mercy and power!
I think this is an important book for couples to read together as well as singles such as myself. The main reason I loved this book was for the testimony of God's mercy and salvation in finally saving Alan and then Lisa after years of brokenness and sin! It is a pow

I would never have read this book without Naomi having recommended it, but I'm glad she did. Al and Lisa Robertson (of Duck Dynasty fame) share very candidly about their marriage struggles in a way that was helpful and encouraging to me. Their journey through betrayal, repentance and forgiveness felt very real, genuine and imitable. The chapters at the end where they capture lessons learned and principles for strong marriages rise above the triteness you might expect. This is a quick and easy re ...more

This book was hard to put down once I'd started. Their story gives hope to people dealing with any sort of problems, not just marital. There's not as much of the hunting/fishing/backwoods stuff as some of the other DD books. Highly recommended

Excellent book...honest, tough to read at times, but what a message. DON'T skip the intro. Took so many notes from this book that can be applied to life.

This book is one that you need to read if you are struggling with something in your marriage. I am a teenager that really likes that back story of the Robertsons so I read this.

This book details Alan and Lisa’s lives and how they met, including their marriage. You learn some problems in their marriage and how they overcame them. I really enjoyed this book because it was a book I could read to keep my hopes up about anything.

You learn that Lisa had an affair that really tore up the marriage and a

Introduce the book, telling the title, author and genre.
I recently finished reading a biography called "A New Season" by Al and Lisa Robertson with Beth Clark . It is an exquisite piece of writing, it includes repetitive heartbreak and the couple shares the secrets and the real story behind how to work through the long spiritual journey it took to get the couple to get back to a healthy relationship. They strongly believe in and use this saying frequently in the book, 'Faith, F

A New Season: A Robertson Family Love Story of Brokenness and Redemption is by Duck Commander's "beardless brother" Al Robertson and his wife, Lisa. Al and Lisa Robertson tells how their lives were like growing up and during their school days. They tell about the heartache they experienced during those years, which led them far from God and turning to drugs, alcohol, sex and other evil lifestyles. Al briefly describes what it was like being Phil Robertson's son in the early years and how he took ...more

I think I am way too invested in a family whose show I don't even watch, but I've mentioned before how much this family fascinates me. They could choose to live secret and private lives, but instead choose to air even not-so-positive things about their family, in hopes to inspire and bring hope to others.

Al and Lisa have a tough story to tell. But they do so with such openness and honesty. They don't hide, or try to cover up, and I find that inspiring. They started fr

Hope Filled
There are dozens of make-your-marriage-better books – this one is different. Instead of preaching the gospel to us, the authors share it. Rather than using anonymous examples, they share true, heartfelt stories of their lives. They offer hope of saving a marriage instead of walking away. They shared how others (including family) didn’t agree and didn’t support their walk of faith and yet, now share in the God’s glory of healing. They shared how to ask for help from your friends and ga

I enjoyed this book by Al and Lisa, like I have liked all the other books from this great family.. I don't need marriage advice but I wasn't going to not read this book. This book made great and valid points. Definitely makes you think about what would you have done if you were in that situation. I love the fact that Lisa and Al opened up and told their story to help others who may be going through something similar.
They didn't give up on their marriage, they didn't give up on each other, they

1. I read this book because I've read every other book by the Duck Dynasty crew, not because I needed marriage advice.
2. However, they made some wonderful points and made me think about what I would have done in that situation. They are very courageous and their transparency is refreshing.
3. It's important for people to read this book to learn how to forgive and how to be forgiven; by God and by others.
4. My parents went through almost the exact same thing these two went though but my parents w

Known as the "quieter" couple of the "Duck Dynasty" family, Al and Lisa Robertson truly lay out their lives and hearts in this book that details the extreme ups and devastating downs of their married life.

This was a difficult book to read as there were so many heart-breaking situations that this couple found themselves in, but it is also uplifting in that their faith eventually saw them through the darkness and now they share their lives hoping to help others in the same dire straits as they

Lisa and Al Robertson share their story of love and redemption and how they overcame infidelity and other trials through their marriage. They are both so transparent and honest that others will be open to listening to their story because they are so non-judgmental. Lisa also shares how she never addressed her childhood sexual abuse which led to promiscuity and her dependency on seeking mens' approval instead of Christ's; and how she finally overcame this by surrendering her life to Christ. This ...more

I imagine this book was very difficult for both Al and Lisa to write. I am thankful that they did as it showed how working together with God's help they were able to save their marriage. They didn't sugar coat their bad choices as young people, or as adults. I believe Lisa had so much heart ache (being molested as a child for so many years and then having a relationship that ended with her aborting her baby)that without some type of counseling she wouldn't be able to be the kind of wife she shou ...more

Wonderful and enlightening read

This is an amazing and well wrote book. Al and Lisa shed light and hope for almost any situation a relationship could encounter. They share very intimate and personal experiences from their lives together as well as before they were together. I admire these two and thank them for being so open and honest about real life, and yet show how the grace of God and his wonderful loving, and forgiving way is truly the only way, and how blessed believers truly are.

I picked this book up multiple times from the library and never cracked the spine. Predictably, I was not as motivated to read the lesser known Robertson couple's book than I had been previous Robertson family books. After having finished the book (two days after finally starting it) I want to clearly state, I should have never doubted it! This book was truly inspired and ministered heavily to me all the way through. Brutally honest and raw? Absolutely. Hopefilled and potentially life changing? ...more

Authentic must-read

This story is honest, real, and compelling but told without sensationalism. A down-to-earth recounting of life, pain, failure, redemption, hope, healing, restoration and faith. Al and Lisa are people I would like to meet but feel like I already know. A must read!

As tears flow, I'm also smiling ... this is absolutely life-changing ... what an amazing testimony to God's love and forgiveness ... I could relate to Lisa in so many ways, and even Al ... once I started reading I couldn't stop ... May God continue to bless the Robertson's faithfulness.

Excellent book brought tears to my eyes many times. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, to be able to forgive one another as Al and Lisa did is fantastic, but as Lisa stated she also had to forgive herself. That is something that is and would be hard to do. God's Blessings to this amazing Couple that loved each other and with the help from God to make it work.

Two people who have managed to figure 'the big stuff' out and live with each other, faults and all. I truly wish I could meet these two, just to say thanks. While my issues may not seem as big as theirs' I was able to take the advice provided throughout and apply it in my own life.

A nice read.
