Sandplay & Symbol Work: Emotional Healing & Personal Development With Children, Adolescents and Adults

Rate this book
Designed for counselors, this book explores the usefulness of symbols and sandplay as forms of therapy. Through the juxtaposition of symbols, clients are able to convey complex ideas and personal issues that might not be explored in a conventional therapy session. Non-threatening and suitable for clients of all ages, it has demonstrated itself as an excellent means of getting to the core of people's personal problems. The book features:
-- Discussion of the Jungian and Gestalt foundations of sandplay and symbol work;
-- Case studies;
-- Explanation of how counselors and facilitators can apply this therapy; and
-- Color illustrations of the therapy in action.

Age specific play interventions for children, for the emotional, kinesthetic and intuitive modes of experience. Symbolisms of energy, qualities of character and further supports connection to the client's inner world. Solutions are made through imagination and kinesthetic applications. I could appreciate my 5 year old male client, sharing his verbal/cognitive skills and his interests. He asked me questions I was attentive towards, and invited me to be a part of his play. I look forward to gaining experience and expertise in this field of work, as it shows great moral strength to do what we love. I want to play with children of my own. The children always come first.
