I'd recommend this a great companion book to Norman Lewis's 'Word Power Made Easy'. This book will definitely strengthen your approach to vocabulary and mastery of words with several exercise questions. I would not recommend you read this book without touching Norman Lewis first though. The primary difference that I found between Lewis and Maxwell is the approach each one takes while explaining the words and their corresponding etymology. Lewis makes it much more easier and fun to attack the words and master them. This book would have felt like a drag if it wasn't for Lewis.
The authors have done a wonderful job in finding the origins of certain common words. This book includes puzzles that are engaging and quite challenging. This book is a must have for anyone who is interested to build his/her vocabulary.5 stars from my side.
This is one of those indispensable books for vocabulary building. I read it during my MBA preparation days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I still would like to read it again if I can get my hands on it.
