We somehow ended up with two copies of this story so my 15 m.o. son has taken over one and my 4 y.o. the other. We've read this story many times over and they both enjoy it thoroughly. My son even gets involved with answering, mostly in his nasally grunts, but will point at things now. My daughter responds to the story in the same fashion as the show, repeating after me, answering questions, pointing to objects, and even telling Swiper no.
This is a fun Dora book based on the tv show. In this adventure Dora and Boots have to collect 8 yellow tickets to win the grand carnival prize of a big pinnata. They try out a Ferris wheel, merry go round and see other carnival attractions. Not my favourite as tempts my daughter to want to try out the rides which aren't always toddler friendly!
This was one of the better Dora books - a reasonable plot (more or less) and some variety in the activities (identify a shape here, a color there). I still hate these things, but if the kids like them...It will not be the sort of book I re-read countless times, let us say.
I didn't like how Dora automatically won the big pinata, just by handing her tickets over. There was no challenge in her getting the tickets or winning the pinata.
